Precious, the receptionist deserves a big shout-out for her professional and caring service!

Very nice hotel. Service was terrible.
When I phoned and booked a room, they immediately charged my credit card, I had not agreed to this. When reviewing my statement I noticed this and called. They told me I "agreed" to this. NO I DIDN'T! Why would I?
Checking in: I asked about parking, underground secure parking but charged me $10.00 per night. I had no other choice the "gravel parking lot was over a kilometer away" in the pouring rain. The underground parking had 6-8 cars in it.
Night 1:
I was looking for a soda, thought there must be a very over priced diet coke with my name on it somewhere in the hotel. I find a vending machine only to find it empty, asking the desk clerk he directs me to a different one only to find it empty as well. I ask the desk clerk only to get an excuse that it is not his job to fill them but a 3rd party.
Night 2:
My room was filled with the smell of marijuana, I do not partake and gives me a blinding headache. I called the front desk and get a long excuse that the rooms on either side of me are empty so I can't be smelling marijuana. The desk clerk argued with me for some time over this.
Check out:
I take my key to the desk. The desk clerk has the audacity to ask if it is ok to charge my credit card on file. I tell her my credit card had been charged over a month prior and the only charge that should be charged was the parking fee of $20.00 and that had been charged at 2: 08am and a reciept emailed to me already.
Absolutely no room service. The excuse used for this is Covid, covid risk was extremely low during my stay.
This is just a excuse to not pay staff. For a room that cost $250.00 per night I expect maid service.
No breakfast included.
Very nice bathroom and comfortable beds.
This is the hotel of excuses of why their service sucks but you pay top dollar for nothing.
In response to the "manager" comment. Now I understand why your staff is as rude and unprofessional as they are, you have taught them that way. They and you lie. This hotel and staff take no responsibly for their horrendous service and treatment of guest.
DON'T STAY HERE!

Excellent hotel
Very reasonable price for October.
Would definitely stay here again.

We booked this hotel last minute as we were flying out the next day and it was close enough to Butchart Gardens for the next morning and then on to the airport. In the room the beds were comfortable but the kitchenette had no plates/silverware (just a couple of mugs and glasses) but could be requested-we choose not to but I don't understand why they wouldn't be in the room. The shower was comical-unless you were 5'0 or shorter, it was very awkward and unpleasant to use because the shower head was much too low and also had low pressure. There is not much in the immediate area but Jack's was sufficient for a late dinner. Parking is an additional $10 per night for parking garage parking but that should just be built into the rate. Most people would be driving here anyways. Overall, it was okay but it was expensive for one night, especially given the shower and lack of included amenities.

Great place to stay in Victoria but quite a drive from all the activities. The price of the hotel makes up for it. Rooms were spacious and comfortable.

GOOD:
The suite was excellent; CLEAN, comfortable, spacious and beautiful. All as advertised and we have no complaints. The suite descriptions and pictures are accurate. We stayed 4 nights and wish we could have enjoyed it longer. It was grand!

BAD:
We came to enjoy the outdoors as well. The hotel is right next to trees, hills, and walking and hiking trails which were a big part of our decision to visit here, instead of other choices. Surprise! You can only use those trails if you pay $45 PER PERSON, EACH DAY! We couldn’t even walk around the building, before a guard stopped us and told us we needed to pay and sign a waiver. It sounds like there is a disagreement between Fairways and the recreation center next door.
*Trouble is, it was never communicated on the hotel website, at check in, nothing. *
Also, elsewhere, there are few sidewalks, traffic congestion and lots of construction.

FINALLY:
This battle is between the hotel and the rec center, but we won’t be back. The room is nice for 4 days, but not for staying inside all that time.

We have stayed here before, but not since the hotel changed hands. We booked to stay in a 1-bedroom king suite which is very spacious and quiet. The bathroom is very large, with a deep soaker tub. There was a nice patio off both the living area and bedroom. We also love that this hotel is both dog and cat friendly.
Some things to note however: we were cold. The electric fireplace did not work, and the room thermostat was hit and miss. The room seemed to heat in the early morning and then shut off for the day. We ended up relying on the oven for heat. We had sheets and a duvet cover on the bed, but no actual duvet. The 'fully equipped' kitchen was a misnomer, as was 'pots, pans and serving dishes'. It was fully equipped as far as appliances, but had the absolute bare minimum in cookware and utensils. No mixing bowl or serving dishes. 1 small pan with lid, 1 medium pan with no lid, and a frying pan, so don't expect to cook something like pasta even though there was a pasta serving spoon. We would certainly stay here again, however, but would plan our meals differently.

We were nervous because of some reviews, but this is a great hotel! The beds are so cozy and the suite is massive! Very clean and good shampoo& conditioner which is important if you forget haha For the price it’s a no brainer we’ll definitely stay again!

There's nothing wrong with the hotel per se, but one is left with the distinct feeling that they haven't had their money's worth. A decent place to relax after a long day, but I wouldn't recommend it for any kind of indulgent getaway.

Major drawbacks include a lack of pool/hot tub; no on-site food services (particularly since you're in the middle of nowhere) and room finishings that look nice but are flimsy and uncomfortable on closer inspection. Unfortunately, a lot of it feels like corner-cutting and the lack of attention to detail that one would expect when spending $300/night or more on accommodations that don't include breakfast.

Large, apartment-like residences. Very comfortable and stylish. Felt good even during the 23 hour power outage we endured on our otherwise beautiful weekend there. Really enjoyed the comfort and spaciousness.

Luxury condo style hotel in a beautiful upscale wooded mountain area just outside Victoria. I stayed a night as a weekend treat for the family in late October.

The non-summer rates I paid $267 (all in) for a full suite. 1 King size bedroom with full size washroom, separate living room (sofa bed), full kitchen and a half washroom. Parking an extra $10 for underground gated parking. The only negative is the lack of on site amenities like pool, gym, room service, convenience/gift store and restaurant but there is a next door convenience coffee shop and restaurant.

The staff was wonderful and helpful as my little one took us a bit past check out time but they were very understanding. The location is outside of Victoria downtown core about 20 minutes drive away. It's located on a small mountain hill, so it's a beautiful drive up and down on a clear day. It's also next to a world class golf course. I would recommend it if you come during the non-summer season. The whole of Victoria's during the summer is very expensive.

Beware!
Stayed here in July and almost three months later the hotel charges my card again randomly even when I was already charged and issued a receipt for my stay. Dealing with the MasterCard fraud department to resolve the issue.

Great rooms. Plenty of space. Still trying to staff up for cleaning daily and towels etc. But a fabulous stay.

We had never been to Bear mountain but took a chance on this hotel and it turned out to be a fantastic experience. Nestled in rolling hills and surrounded by a massive golf course, it offers spectacular views and solitude. Our room was spacious (luxurious even by city standards) and opened up to a golf course and a trail in the back. There was a full size tub and comfortable beds. The silence was enchanting; we couldn't get over how clear bird song sounded. Service was wonderful. I have nothing but superlatives for this place. It's 20km from Victoria downtown but might as well have been a world away.

Edit: Btw, the big bush with tiny white flowers perfuming the entire street where the hotel was located is called Chindo Sweet Viburnum (Viburnum Odoratissimum). No one could tell us what its name was but it made the whole experience of being in the mountains in the rain and mist that much more special.

The staff for the most part were very rude and did not want to be there. I was treated poorly and did not enjoy my stay.

We were greeted immediately upon entering. As this was our first time staying here, we didn't know what to expect. We checked in and were directed to our suite on the 3rd floor. Gated underground parking, was great, clean and well lit. Our room was in excellent condition. We had requested a scent free room, there was little to no perfume in the room. Our stay was pleasant. Checkout was easy.

Rooms are not cleaned during guest stays for some unknown reason. Gross. I was told staffing is problematic. You may want to pay more. In any case, this is a completely unacceptable level of service for 300$/night hotel. Absurd. I would never stay here again.

We are so looking forward to having our Wedding at Fairway Hotel. The staff are so nice and helpful. The rooms are just so beautiful and the bathroom are so luxurious
15 June 2022 21:41
The rooms was graciously spacious, it is amazing what we got for the price we paid. Peter, at the front desk was very helpful as well. We enjoyed our stay at the place.

Only con is that you do need to oay for parking at the stay. Also, housekeeping did not cleaned our room after we placed the sign for some reason.

After an unpleasant situation at a different hotel, we arrived here at 3 am to lovely staff and a beautiful room. Clean, quiet, and very comfortable bed
13 May 2022 17:15
We have no complaints about this hotel at all. We were in second floor our view was to the golf course had a very nice balcony.

Staff was very friendly and always welcoming.

They don’t clean the rooms at the moment but I was told by the front desk to leave everything outside (garbage, dirty towels and dishes) and it will get taken away and leave clean towels and dishes. They were super fast at taking everything away. Hallways were always clean. The best part was that we were able to charge our car in their parking lot. Rate and parking was way cheaper than the hotel next door.

There is great restaurant across the road and a liquor store.

We were 10 min away from all the big stores and Costco.

The hotel was a perfect fit for our family of 4 adults with an adjoining room. It does not have a pool or hot tub so that is a bummer, and they charge for parking when there are very few other options. We did find though, that the bathrooms were pretty gross. Mold and mildew in the shower, random stray hairs and very dirty baseboards and vents.

We were fortunate enough to book a room in this hotel directly with Mr. Tevor Peulen, the Guest Services Manager. This is a very nice property, well maintained and very professionally run! Mr. Peulen and his team of staff delivered five star service. We can't thank him enough. The hotel is well kept, very clean and close attention is given to COVID cleaning protocols. Front desk staff are courteous, professional and friendly. We are delighted with our experience.

We've stayed here a few times, very modern spacious rooms, lovely views, extremely clean and a nice added bonus with the Tesla chargers.
18 August 2021 3:14
Staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful. I hugely appreciate the hotel being dog friendly. Early check out is super simple, just leave the key cards at the front desk. In behind the hotel there's some convenient paths and grassy areas to potty your dogs. Just a note for people with dogs, there is a patio area for the ground floor rooms, but you can't use that as access to take your dog out for a quick pee (to skip going through the hotel). The patio areas are all separate for each room, so you can't access the walking paths/grassy areas without cutting through someone else's space. Not a big deal though, and didn't detract from my stay. Also, the soaker tubs are fantastic! Would definitely stay here again.

We stayed here this weekend for our anniversary. We had previously stayed at this hotel when it was a Westin, so that was what we the experience we had in mind I guess. They must be taking Covid precautions seriously, because the linens smelled very strongly of bleach.

It was more like staying at an Air b & b than a hotel. The hospitality factor just wasn’t there, and it was missing the basic amenities. No coffee, barely any towels, and the phone wasn’t connected to be able to call the front desk to ask for them to be replenished. With a little help this place could be a cute boutique hotel, they just need to prioritize the customer experience.

This is a wonderful place with amazing staff, and the best part is.it is pet friendly! Hope to be back very soon.
