Falafel King

I have been coming to this place over the last 23 years.
I loved coming to eat here from time to time.
Tonight, I had a very unfortunate experience here.
My family and I came in (4 of us).
Another guy with his female partner came in after us, he basically pushed us aside, and started ordering the food.while ignoring that he just cut us completely off.
The owner did not say anything to this persons, and served him first instead. The guy also took immediately two chairs, making it impossible for us to stay at this restaurant. This was a very rude and inconsiderate behavior by this person, and very passive and poor response by the owner.
I will never come back again to Falafel King, out of moral principle that cannot be avoided.

On Thursday October 26, I had a terrible experience at Falafel King. I had purchased something from the store and was double charged due to their card machine not working properly. I called the store to explain the situation and was told that they would solve it. I went to the store the three days later expecting some sort of refund, but they were not helpful and were quite unrespectful. They refused to refund me for the double charge and were quite unwilling to help in any way. I felt completely cheated and taken advantage of, and it was not a pleasant experience. It is unfortunate that such a small business would treat its customers in such an unprofessional manner.

When muslim customers call you or visit you and ask you about your meat supplier, why are you so rude? Why do you need to be so hostile? If you claim that your meat is halal, than you shouldnt feel offended when asked the source.

This place is the best. The chicken is supremely seasoned and cooked in the shawarma. The guy who works there has been a positive smiling influence for over twenty years. Prices are ultra reasonable. Long live FALAFEL KING!

The best chicken wrap in Vancouver. Been coming here more than 15 years. Have tried many others over the years, but this guy is number one!
Tasty, juicy and loaded.

Used to live close by and now I have to drive in from renfrew heights to get my fix. But it's worth the effort.

Perfectly seasoned chicken, and sauces. Filling and good price.

We were sitting in our car, trying to pick a place to buy some takeout dinner from and ended up choosing Falafel King as we happened to be parked right outside the restaurant and the aroma of their food wafted through the air towards us.

Each plate was generously packed with food. There was salad, hummus dip and pita bread. The food turned out to be just OK. It wasn't horrible, but the smell of it from our car was better than what we actually tasted. The meat and falafels were both a bit on the dry side.

I’m a falafel and shawarma addict. On my quest to eat at over 40 of these restaurants in BC so far, this is by far one of my favs. Top 2 for sure. Total hole in the wall and grungy, but food is fresh, authentic and true to international rich flavours and textures, not like in the proliferation of fake horrible donair shops everywhere.

One of the worst place I’ve been to. Ordered two chicken falafel. Both came with burned chicken to a point it tasted like charcoal. Also, they put A whole half tomato rather than slicing it. Felt like they just dumped all leftover items into it. Even if you are starving, do not come here. Would give 0 starts if I could.

Friendly service but the guy behind the counter was handling money and grabbing the falafels with his bare hands. The food was microwaved. The guy also patted my salad with his whole palm (no clue why). I paid for the food but didnt eat it. I have food safety concerns regarding this place. I feel really bad for putting this review but i do think people should be aware of how the food is handled.

We asked for beef and lamp wraps, it was very delicious. The owner is a great guy and very talkative.

Grumpy old man! Didn’t tell me he was going to charge extra for a few extra tomatoes & then got mad when I enquired why he was charging me more than the advertised price. I guess he doesn’t have customer service skills needed to answer questions politely

This place is absolutely amazing. I have never tasted better falafel wraps in all of Vancouver. I’m really surprised.

I've been coming here for 25 years on and off.
Consistency is key here and I love it everytime.

A Denman staple for decades. A bare bones operation that lets the food speak for itself. Got the chicken shawarma with lentil warm. Can’t beat $10! The sauce on the chicken was delicious. Glad to see this place is still here

Generous portion and very reasonable price. I ordered the chicken shawarma plate and it was very satisfying. Will go back again.

Do not eat here. First of all the meat is not good. Second Of all the owner is clearly a racist. When we went to pay he said he doesn’t take cards despite the door sign saying they take debit and credit. Then someone else walked in asked if they take cards and the owner said yes. Then the customer was confused as he heard the owner say no to us. He asked again whether they Take cards and the owner seemed to delay his answer until we had left the restaurant. Do not go here what a bad person and a bad place.

This place does not have the flashy signs and people encouraging you to come in like the other two places just down the street. What it does have is really good food!

Old school shawarma place with everything what this may means, good and bad. Chicken is fine, skip the the lamb (it is the frozen minced pile of pre-prepared mystery meat). Generous portions, decent hummus (don't expect to be gourmet). All in: fair square meal (pun intended: the take out is coming in square boxes)

I always order the chicken Shawarma plate.chicken, veggies and rice, side of excellent hummus, and a tabbouleh parley salad.perfectly seasoned.great sauces and pita bread.delicious and best I've ever had.great for take-away too and a good healthy portion. The Owner is very friendly and makes sure your order is custom to your taste. Best in Vancouver!

The old uncle there, didn't even care to heat the roll, was the worst shawrama i ever bought. Upon tasting the roll, had to throw it, as it didn't even tasted like chicken. A friendly advice to the people running the place, if you are drunk, don't serve any customers!

Soup was good but the beef shawarma.this is not real beef, it is more likely Spam beef, the shawarma grill was not even working. Try to avoid it.

Best spice and flavour on Denmen and Davie nobody comes close to the kings attention to detail.

Always the best in town the owners are twins sometimes you can't tell them apart but one of them smiles but the food is always terrific

One of the best falafel and shawarma plates. Tried the chicken and the beef. Both were tender and tasty. Hassan, the owner, is very helpful and cordial. Portions are generious and prices are reasonable. One of the original falafel locations in Vancouver. Definately worth a visit.

I have been going to these guys for 15 years. It never disappoints. Best shawarma in Vancouver and great family running it. This place is a Vancouver staple.

Great food! We are visiting from Alberta and we’ll definitely be back. We were helped by a very nice gentleman, he had a great sense of humour!

Best shwarma I've had in Vancouver! The tahini is on point and the meat is cooked to perfection.

Falafel King is an amazing, local resteraunt, with one super friendly guy, amazing food, and good prices and a nice student discount.

Great place to have lunch. Tasty and generous shwarma plate for a great price. Nice owner to chat with.
