Famoso Neapolitan Pizzeria

Ordered twice because i had coupons, both times i was pretty un impressed.tonight it was just a matter of sloppy packaging, sauces busting everywhere, these people just dont care.will not be ordering again.

Ordered twice through UberEats. Mediterranean flat bread and hummus was ok, but flat bread burnt. Primavera pizzeta combo was good with side ceasar salad. Ceasar salad was tasty but barely any croutons, no bacon bits. Bruschetta wasn't bad but it had more red onions than anything and they recently forgot to send my pizza with my order.

I just went to this place today after having a bad experience there a couple years ago. I have to say, the pizza was really good and I don’t say that lightly. The crust was chewy yet crispy, like I’d expect from a neapolitan pizza. The toppings were delicious and seemed of high quality. The waitress was the owner and was extremely nice. She mentioned that they took the place over a year ago, and it shows. I will be coming back here again!

Came for lunch with my family. We got 2,12” pizzas. One pepperoni pizza, and one sweet BBQ chicken. My dad’s pop was completely flat, warm and tasted bad. Practically Undrinkable. But the food, overall wasn’t bad; 3/5. The service on the other hand, wasn’t great, very slow. We where here for an hour or more just to get two pizzas! The waitress was absent for most of the meal. In fact, she wasn’t in the dining area, serving others, most of the meal. We spent quite a bit of time waiting for our waitress to get the bill. Service; 1/5. The ambiance was good; 3.5/5 Overall, I would give this Famoso’s a 3/5. I wouldn’t go out of my way to go there again.

This place was a rainy night dream for us! We walked in received great service with a warm smile! We had great seating and the server was so amazing! She kept us well accommodated for and was polite and friendly the whole time! Now the star was the food! Incredible fresh pizza and ingredients transformed into a Tuscan vacation! We will be coming back for years to come

The food was amazing, this is my second time coming here and it always impresses me. The service can be a bit spotty. But overall a great restaurant.

Whenever I go to Victoria, my wife and I go to eat at Famoso, they have excellent food, we have ordered pizzas, pastas, sandwiches, everything, and we are always satisfied with the delicious foods they offer, plus the sangria and mimosas are delicious, It is very nice to arrive and enjoy a good pizza after a walk through Downtown

One of my favourite places to get authentic Neapolitan style pizza in Victoria. I’ve noticed a lot of the “bad” reviews here criticize the pizza for being “saggy” and therefor “undercooked”, and I think that’s such a shame because this is how proper & authentic pizza is (FYI it’s not undercooked, it’s just very thin crust) Also, complaints coming from people who ordered a chicken pizza? Maybe just stick to Dominos.

Good food for a quick bite. Kid friendly, too. Minimal decor but good service. Parking not abundant but spaces nearby.

We waited about an hour for 2 pizzas and a salad to be served. I would have chalked it up to it being Boxing Day and the restaurant being short staffed, but based on the other reviews it looks like this is the norm. The pizza was decent, leaning towards doughy. Utensils and napkins was provided in a mason jar on the table, but there was only 2 napkins and 2 knives for a table of 4.

Pizza is pretty good. Caprese salad was sad though. One lame tasteless grocery store tomato cut 4 into wedges, 4 pieces of mozzarella, and some arugula.

The pizza was falling apart, the sauce was very watery, and the flavour was bland. I was quite disappointed ️

Drove all the way downtown to go to this place because we had a coupon, when we arrived we were told to wait for a table. A few moments later someone came to tell us that they could not accept our family of 4 since they were "running out of ingredients". We could not believe this, so he had to explain to us again that they were "almost out of food". On a Monday, at dinner time (7pm). Was this a joke? Will never step foot in this place again. Avoid at all costs! There are much better pizza restaurants in the downtown area, don't waste your time here because keep in mind they might run out of food!

Food is alright, but wait times are ridiculous.sat here in a near empty restaurant and still waited an HOUR for food to arrive.disappointed.

Super nice people but the food was below avergage. We ordered take-out and recieved the worst looking wings I have seen in a while. They were very small and broken apart. The pizza was ok but was missing a topping we had ordered. The search for a good pizza in Victoria BC continues.

Ordered famoso's pizza combo (prosciutto arugula pizzetta combo) on April 29th 7: 03pm through doordash. The food package was well-packed with staple (no one opened it), but the pizza was MISSING. I only got the caesar salad from the combo and the extra item I ordered (beverage: Italian soda-blood orange).

I was really disappointed but I trust famoso AGAIN. I REORDERED a 15'' prosciutto arugula pizzetta from doordash. When I receive the order, there was NO TOPPINGS AT ALL ON THE PIZZA. NO PROSCIUTTO. NO ARUGULA, In the doordash app page, it shows that customers can add "fresh basil" and "chill sat" for OPTIONAL choice. I only could see BASIL AND CHILL SALT in the plain pizza.

I trust famoso's high-quality food and service and try to tolerate the mistake they made firstly on April 29th's night. However, it wasn't a pleasant experience. I hope the store can give me a reply and we can find a solution for this. I hope this unpleasant experience won't happen again to other customers.

NO NEED TO EMAIL them. I send email to the store and ask for solution. The staff didn't offer any solutions. AVOID

Daughter's Grad dinner! Food was great, but unfortunately service was sporadic. Took two hours for dinner and dessert! Fortunately we were not in a hurry!

Decent food however they’ve been closed twice when we’ve shown up during listed business hours. I’d recommend calling ahead or picking somewhere more reliable.

Ordered take out as we stayed across the street at a BnB. Will not visit again. Had pasta, mediocre and tasteless at best. Pizza looked like it could be excellent, again, tasteless due to very small portions of toppings. Tomato sauce was sparse and cheese was hard to find.

Friendly vibes, incredible service and food was delightful as alwaysonly place to eat while shopping near market square.highly recommended

Disappointing today. Haven't been in since the pandemic. Called in an order. 2 pizzas. Got there to pick it up and they only had one prepared/on the bill. Wait for them to make the second, now one is cold, get home and one is made wrong (missing ingredients) and the other is burnt. Not quite worth the 45min round trip.

ALERT FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS TO GO HERE! MAKE SURE THAT THE MANAGER IS NOT WORKING! We had a female come to us who was our hostess or maybe the manager subbing in and she was absolutely horrific to us. The pizza here is fabulous. I went once and everyone was so friendly and the food was so good! However, I go a second time and the person who was going to check our vaccination saw my friend and immediately accused him of being the rude person the night before. We’d also had a problem with her earlier when my sister made the reservation. She called and at the start the woman on the phone was nice and helpful. When she found out my sisters name she started shouting at her over the phone. Anyways when the same woman accuse my friend of being a terrible person I defended him by saying, “I don’t want to be rude but that was very unprofessional. You shouldn’t accuse someone of being a rude person like this. You could have asked him if he had been there the night before first. ” And then she told me that she didn’t have to serve me and to get out! Not to mention my friend that she accused was wearing a rain jacket, a mask, and a tuque! You could only see his eyes and hands! 10/10 would not recommend anymore. After all this if you still want to go just try to confirm that the hostess isn’t a rude woman.

Crazy how people think you can abuse restaurant staff and be allowed to enter.

Great place for a quick meal in Victoria. Enjoyed the variety. Service was lacking but that is more a statement of staffing shortage than the establishment.

I have heard good things about this place from my host daughter but after how they treated her tonight on her birthday, I will never step foot in there. I have never heard of an owner treating future and returning customers so bad. The owner was accusatory on the phone with my host daughter when she called to make a reservation just because she had the same name as someone who was there the night before. Then she accused a young man of being rude the night before and he wasn't even there. Not sure if she was being prejudice because they were young adults and she had a bad experience the night before but it is no reason to be rude to others. When my daughter went to his defence, she refused them service and wouldn't let them in at all. You can have the best pizza in the world but I will never recommend your place to any of my future host children or my friends or family

Hi, last night I went to famoso and my experience there was just awful. I called to make a reservation and everything was great except for when the waitress discovered that my name was Beatrice. The night before they received a bad review from another person who had the same name of mine and she was accusing me of being the same person and she didn’t want me to go to the restaurant. At last I managed to convince her that I was a different Beatrice but when we arrived there another thing happened. I was sitting at a table with a friend and my two sisters came with another friend. This friend was accused of being there the night before and of being rude to the staff (he had never been there before). My sister politely told the waitress that she was being rude and that she did the exact same thing with me at the phone and the waitress told us to go away. Don’t get me wrong the food is great but the staff was just so awful and they used the excuse that they were stressed to justify their behavior. We had a discussion also with the husband of the waitress who was working there and he wouldn’t let me talk.
So, in conclusion I want to say that that their behavior was so unprofessional and I have never been treated so badly in my life and for certain I will never go there again.

Changing my review after our recent takeout experience. Ordered prosciutto wrapped mozzarella balls and San Andreas pizza. First, came with no napkins or cutlery so literally couldn't eat the mozzarella balls. Sauce was bland. Pizza was awful. Avocado was literally black it was so over ripe and not edible. Barely any chicken and also bland taste. Will not return.

Well, different times different days different moods, different challenges, etc. But my takeout person didn't acknowledge me at all until I acknowledged our transaction half way into it. The bartender did, but then the other one took over without any greetings. Lacadaisically tossed my pizza onto the counter and was mostly just concerned with me taking my order quietly and getting out. Bummer.edit: they called me to say someone would be getting in touch to offer me a gc to replace this garbage and overpriced pizza but, not surprisingly, no one did!

I have literally spent $250 here this past week alone and today ordered and was told 15 minutes so I waited it's now almost an hour later I have missed an appointment who's cancellation carries a penalty of $125 and when I ask how long it will be I am told it's not even made and the manager is giving me The death stare needless to say we won't be back

Famoso's Margherita is the closest to the real thing that I've had in north America. That in itself is worth the five stars, despite some oddities (like putting chicken on pizza) which I'd put down as concessions to the local taste that are necessary for business. The tiramisù is also worth of the Margherita.
The staff are friendly and polite; tables, plates and silverware are clean. The dine-in hours are too limited right now due to staffing issues but hopefully that will go away when the COVID insanity ends.

Very fast, attentive service and really good pizza - chewy crust is delicious and just right. Ambience unsophisticated - come here for the pizza. Very central, lively atmosphere outside, no worries about safety that would make any sense to me.

I’ve been going to Famoso for years (different location) and I’ve always been very impressed with the food and service.this location is definitely an exception. Waitress was cocky and kept correcting me every time I helped my friends with the menu (what certain things were). We ordered 2 pastas and 2 pizzetas (small pizzas) and when the food came she had 2 massive pizzas and said that is was a mistake but wouldn’t charge us for it. Unfortunately she did charge us for the large pizzas despite ordering smaller ones and there were extra items on the bill that we didn’t order. The food was good at least.

Stepped in late one night in a town of closed places and got phenomenal service and good food for a fine price.

I just had a delicious lunch special with tomato soup and Margarita pizza for lunch. They started cooking my pizza upon arrival to keep it fresh. You know it's always the challenge and anxious to pick up right on time especially pizza - now I don't need to worry about it! Tomato soup is so flavorful and pizza is so fresh with delicious mozzarella cheese:)

Myself and my boyfriend came in for a little lunch date with a Groupon. Alastair served us and provided us with exceptional and efficient service. He was kind and lovely and when the remaining total of the bill came to under a dollar, said he’d found a spare toonie and didn’t want us to pay! It truly made our day to have such an amazing dining experience topped off with a lovely gesture like that. 10/10 Alastair, you’re amazing!

I ordered off skip the dishes. It was prepared in good time. I was disappointed with the pizza. I ordered the margharita. I love the style of pizza however, the dough was under cooked and doesnt seem to crisp well. The classic tomato base is extremely bland. Reminds me of eating straight tomato paste.

It is a beautiful place to enjoy dinner, the location is really good, but the services in the restaurant aren't perfect as where the restaurant is located.
I’ve been sitting and waiting for my foods more than one hour, and nobody come me say what’s going on.it isn’t a good idea to keep customers waiting about an hour and say nothing.

It was a nice place to eat and the food came fast but the pizza margaritha was not good. It was not crispy at all and very thin. The pizza was so soft I had to hold the slice with both hands. The pizza was so small I was still starving after the meal.

Solid choice for pizza downtown. It can very busy on the weekend, but the staff hustle and the food is consistently great.

Great friendly service and really enjoyed our servers suggestions. Brussel sprouts on pizza who new this would be a fantastic choice. Oh our server did.

Small portions, they didn't offer kids menu even when they had at a lower price plus ice cream included. Otherwise the attendant was nice.
They have vegetarian, gluten and dairy free options.

The food was very good, prices were fair and the staff friendly. The restaurant and washrooms were clean.

I've been to different famosos before and they never disappoint but this place was just not good. I asked for a pizza with daiya, they didn't have any in stock.ok understandable I'll forgo the cheese. So I get this pizza sans cheese and it is just awful. The tiniest scraping of sauce, soggy doughy crust. I am not one for wasting food so I ate it anyways, but not once did a server come by and ask how it was and then we waited so long to get our bill. Which was horribly horribly overpriced for what I got. Not impressed and won't be going back there again.

Just had the best experience ordering take out! The service during the phone call was great, and they advised the pizza would be ready in 10 minutes. When I got there, I was immediately helped by someone at the bar. Payment took less than 15 seconds overall, during which they brought out the pizzas. Margarita pizza was delicious, great sauce, the basil taste really came through, and it didn't have too much cheese. The prawn pesto pizza was one of the best pizzas I've ever had. Cannot wait to come here again! A+

Pretty good pie if you like the traditional Napolitano Pizza. Not a romantic date night kinda place. Solid choice for a late-night hankering.

Really great place for pizza. Came here with family our 2-year old son during Victoria, BC, vacation. While I wish the pizza was bigger (although it wasn't too small either, probably just a healthy size), it was extremely delicious!
And the staff was very, very friendly. They showed my 2-year old son around the kitchen and gave him dough to play with on his own, pretending to make pizza. Thank you!

Amazing, like always. But the secret is.we really go for their Netella Pizza, desert menu. Absolutely the most brilliant desert every. Table of four, two kids one adult shared one.

Hi, I'm a famoso lover but yesterday was a horrible experience. My mom was visiting and we took her there and a) the food took forever to come b) the pizzas were so so bad the dough was under cooked. We ate the food as we were for fasting but were not well after it. The only good thing about our experience was the server who was very polite and nice and apologetic about the delay. He said the ovens are new.

Just a bad place. Don’t order anything but pizza, and even that is not too recommended. Extremely slow and clumsy service

Ordered a pizza to go. Was 10 minutes later than expected and the pizza was handed to me stone cold. $18 for a cold pizza. Yes I was late but couldn’t it have been kept warm somewhere? Unfortunately it didn’t taste good cold.

We really regret having ordered pizza from this place. We ordered a 12" Margherita pizza for $15.38 that came with 4 flakes of basil and barely any cheese. The pizza was 90% tomato sauce and dough. Not worth the money at all. Feel totally ripped off. Other places in town like Prima Strada or The Joint or Brickyard pizza is 100 times more equal in terms of getting what you pay for.

Been about 3-4 years since we last came here. Mainly because we had a kid and she doesn't like pizza. So we took a break from this restaurant until today. Had some couple time so tried them again for a date. Things have gotten even better! I am so happy they changed their ordering system. They have servers and table service now. (No more ordering from the counter). Lots of upgrades and menu changes! Kids menu looks fantastic with pasta and mac n cheese! Enjoyed their pizza today with a homemade soda.

Overall, the food was very good however I am only giving 3 stars due to the service. What drew me and my girlfriend in was the sign outside which clearly stated « any pasta entrée 50% off ». However when we were given our bills, the pasta dish we ordered rang up at its full price. When we asked the waitress about it and brought up the sign outside the restaurant she casually stated that « it was a mistake » and we were forced to pay the full price. There was no attempt to fix the problem or price despite the sign. Even after all of this, they still left the sign outside and made no effort to remove or fix the sign. I would think that the restaurant would give us some sort of deal/discount as there is a CLEAR sign outside that said it was 50% off. We walked out pretty disappointed with the service/management although like I said the food was very good.
