- Overcrowded on powder days but quiet otherwise.
- Expensive.
- They should reconsider using the term "groomed. " Given this season's poor conditions, proper grooming should be a priority. However, the slopes weren't well-groomed even early in the morning.
- The equipment is outdated, similar to many other resorts in Canada. Some chairlifts lack footrests. There were oil leaks from the main chairlift. While they provided plastic bags for protection, staff at other chairlifts mocked us for using them.

A little dated and (some) of the staff at the chair lift are kinda too relaxed about safety. They shout at you to run off the chairlift. If you’re not familiar then you might get hurt badly. The concession wasn’t open at the top of the chairlift.

Wonderful place, a luxury Resort for its location, beautiful views, comfortable and well-equipped room, very good attention from its staff, thanks to Nicolás Gatica for his excellent treatment and disposition
15 July 2021 23:54
Great bike park if you enjoy waiting in the lineup to take a extremely slow chairlift to the top. In a 6 hour day, with minimal breaks we got 5 runs in. Summary of the day: 45 minutes of waiting in line and taking the chairlift to the top, 15 minutes of descent. Will not be back until the Timber chair is running again.

I lost my phone on the mountain and staff were very helpful and ensured I could still enjoy my trip with minimal stress as they showed great concerne in trying to find my phone. Luckily my phone was found by one of the worker and it was returned to me, thank you so much to all the staff I had great time. Such a great place, runs were amazing would definitely return!

Best resort ever.the lifties team alone makes the whole experience shine more than a diamond.they're just so much fun! Thank you for the best season i've ever had.
08 May 2021 16:29
Not well maintained and very old lifts. And the staff can't be bothered to get the snow and ice of the chairs. Not great value
06 May 2021 15:55
Wow! We super lucked out and got one of those legendary Monday Powder days 45+cm overnight spring blizzard! And boy that was just what the grizz ordered to stretch out the season one more week! See you in the summer for MTB time!

My favorite place to snowboard. Just keeps getting better over the years, more lifts, amenities and places to stay. The town is awesome and so is the snow.

We were super excited to come down to have a little vacation in fernie. However the weather is predicted to be -39. I called to see if we can switch our dates and they would not accommodate us at all. We have little kids so that means it’s literally money down the drain. I get you don’t want to refund us but at least let us move our dates so we can get our money’s worth. This seems short sited and I will never book through this site again or our accommodation.

It reminds me of "Bachman - Turner Overrated".
$140 for a lift ticket, WOW!
The Deer Chair Lift is the most uncomfortable Chair lift I've been on. The foot rest lifts your knees up too high and if you have lower back problems it's a killer and the back rest digs into your upper back.
It seems to be always overcast but perhaps that's the price you pay for generally good snow if it's not raining.
We reserved lunch at the Griz on the hill. I had Chicken Cordon Bleu sandwich with kettle chips for $20. The ham seem to have a chewy rind to it the chips were a bag of Ms Vickie's.
It reminded me of food you get at 7-11, which would be a lot cheaper than $20.

Best skiing in the Entire Elk Valley. Rated #1 by Fernie Residents. You will not find any better sking in a 50 km radius.

To be Totally Serious, I've been skiing Fernie Snow Valley & Now Fernie Alpine Resort for the past 30+ years with well over 1,000 visits. There is NO Resort with More to Offer to Skiers of all abilities. It is my "Go To" home resort and I'm still finding new lines to ski every year! Fernie Alpine Resort is the Jewel in the Resorts of the Canadian Rockies (RCR) Corporate Crown.

130 for a lift ticket. Riddiculous and greedy to charge that much. Every where else is way cheaper. No excuse for a price like that. Even banff sunshine is cheaper, BANFF.
How greedy and selfish of an extremely wealthy business owner to charge this much in a pandemic.
13 February 2021 21:41
Been twice, once in Feb and on Dec. Both times conditions were unreal.

Massive snowfalls, the mountain is huge and has great runs!
05 February 2021 22:33
One of the best hills in Western Canada both summer and winter. The personnel are amazing and you get the great small town vibe. They have also done a good job with their covid safety standards

Yo Fernie is awesome, first time skiing there, rentals were easy to get for my friend, expensive though 75 bucks for snowblades boots and poles but they did have flames on them

Great set up, so many runs to choose from, mountain is both wide and tall.

Had decent conditions, little icy is spots but there were also lots of fresh snow out there. Sick tree runs, poor visibility up top.

Cute girls everywhere

Great variety in food, amenities and run difficulty or type. Well maintained, well staffed. I always appreciate a staff that is both helpful and forgiving. When someone walked off with parts of my rental instead of their own while we had lunch, they were very understanding and quick to help get me back on the mountain with little delay.

Beautiful in the summer, beautiful in the fall beautiful in the winter. Spring ain't too bad either. Everyone's Aussie up here its like a different country but in bc
13 October 2020 21:18
We were visiting the area during ski season, not being skiers we went up to the Lost Boys Cafe and had a beer. Was a great time, all staff were very friendly and the views here are some of the best we've seen.
12 October 2020 20:48
Marvellous view. High class lodges. A Place where you can visit the top of mountain in lifts similar to gondola. In summer you can do cycling on the trails of mountains while during winter you can enjoy sking. Must visit.

Great staff! Very friendly, helpful and accommodating. They obviously like what they're doing. There's something to do for the whole family. Their ticket packages are fair priced and so totally worth it! Our party took a combination of Bike+Dine and Hike + Dine. So worth it. The food was delish!
One of my friends had a bit of an accident in one of the trails and a team came within 15 minutes. They were efficient and gentle.
Though our experience ended leaning towards a bad note, we still had lots of fun and we will definitely come back!

Lovely place in the center of downtown. Great price, but our air conditioner wasnt working. A bit of a bummer, but the staff is great and no problems in general.
30 April 2020 13:04
Spent a week at the resort and mountain and loved it. I usually love anything to do with skiing and this resort didn't disappoint. Lots of different terrain and lots of lifts. We liked how the staff helped with parking and had people answering questions all over. Make sure if you spend more than a few days that you buy direct to lift as you don't know how long the lines for tickets will be. We will be back for sure
23 April 2020 6:00
Weather and snow conditions were perfect. The hill was busy, but you didn't notice line up's at the chair lifts. The staff was very accommodating after a lesson mix up. Super experience for my son's first mountain trip!
19 April 2020 12:39
Great atmosphere, reasonably affordable with a rustic charm. Great skiing with virtually no lift lines.
17 April 2020 11:42
Great resort, normally gets good snow. Is an aging resort and could do with some lift upgrades which lost it a star.
17 April 2020 4:19
Famous for legendary powder but you need to check the weather before heading out.last two times I visited the lower mountain was pretty bad shape.
16 April 2020 17:02
Fernie Alpine Resort have an awesome Winter Sports School where they strive to have the best instructors in the industry by offering continued training to their team, which I am proud to say, I am a part of. They are reputed for their large no of high end instructors too. If you're looking for a great winter break, come to FAR where they offer ski school from tots to pros and they have your back when it comes to safety - oh yes, and the mountain is incredible, with so much terrain, you just have to see it to believe it (that's if you can see through all that powder:)
14 April 2020 5:47
Great resort with lots of varied terrain. Love the different bowls and chutes. Skiing deep in the snow heavy trees was unreal.
04 April 2020 17:27
Dope views all around! Staff is extremely helpful and caring.only thing is that some of the beginner runs are not really beginner runs, and the the runs can run narrow.the mountain is really for the more experienced.still gets 5 stars for the epicness!
23 March 2020 11:01
A great and wholesome ski and snowboard resort minus the corporate infiltration of Whistler/ Blackcomb
17 March 2020 17:34
The fresh snow was awesome here, it made for a good day. However, definitely more of an advanced mountain, and it seems particularly geared towards skiers. Terrain is challenging, some of the blue (intermediate) runs would be classified as black (expert) on a lot of mountains. However, there are some wonderful areas on the mountain. Very fast paced, and crowded; which was a downside for our group, we aren't all the most naturally gifted winter athletes. The restaurants were packed and slow, but the service was super friendly and food was good. Overall, a good day, and glad to say I've done it; but not on my short list to return.
17 March 2020 5:00
One of the best places I've skied in the world. It appears small but there's so much to do. People who work on the hill make it too. Everyone is so polite and nice it makes the difference!
15 March 2020 10:00
My favorite resort so far. I took a novice snowboard lesson and the instructor was very helpful and professional.
15 March 2020 2:43
We unfortunately had icy conditions when we were there but still had a great time regardless! The resort does a good job of grooming lots of runs so when there is that icy crust there are ways to navigate it. Beautiful views, lots of food and lodging options, great variety of runs for every level, and a lot of fun!
08 March 2020 5:57
Amazing resort. Very friendly employees. Incredible powder year after year. It's hard to go anywhere else after being here for so long!
27 February 2020 12:24
Snowed so much they had to close half of it for safety reasons. If you come here for a couple days, statistically speaking you're gonna have some great snow!
29 September 2019 22:58
Great easy trails for small kids. Magical Old Growth Forest is worth the extra effort. Staff, all over the hill, were very helpful!
16 September 2019 21:06
Snowboarding was great with my son. They have a daycare on site so I put him there in the afternoon so I could ride with my friends. He loves snowboarding like I do!

I was in Fernie Ski Resort for a 6 week Level 2 ski instructors training course between Feb - April 2019.

Within weeks of my arrival in Fernie, I witnessed the heavy drinking culture between Fernie ski instructors and young students, resulting in much sexual intimacy gossip during lessons between students and Fernie ski instructors.

I am a business woman in my 40's, I believe what I witnessed in Fernie was wrong and as such I made a complaint in early March to Mr Jens Mende the most senior ski instructor at Fernie ski school, however, my complaint was ignored and I was deemed a trouble maker, which lead to me seeking help from Tourism of Fernie.

Mr Mende further took the position as my examiner while my complaint was on going, it was later confirmed to me that Tourism of Fernie indeed made contact on the morning of my level two exam, the same day I was due to receive my exam result from Mr Mende at 6: 00pm.

Of course I failed, and I was the only woman who failed the exam out of 50 + students, meaning my skiing must be obviously poor in plain sight. Interestingly I was never once given warning or feedback by any CSIA instructors that I did not meet the standard during the 5 weeks training.
Two days before I was leaving Fernie I contacted the Director of Fernie Ski School (Ms Wendy Reade) via telephone and explained my concern about my examiner (Mr Mende) and further reported the behaviour I witnessed of Fernie ski instructors with young students. During our conversation I pointed out to Ms Wendy that she and Mr Mende are fully aware some of these students are under the drinking age and on guardianship in Fernie, which the consequence could lead to breaking the law. Mr Reade promised to investigate and get back to me but she never did.

After I returned home (UK) I bought my case to the CSIA Manager Director (Mr Perry Schumk), after his investigation, Mr Schumk agreed due to the on going conflict at the time of my exam, Mr Mende should not have been my examiner so to make it up to me, CSIA offered me a free training and resit.

I have now forwarded the evidence that supports my complaint to RCR Vice President for comment on this footage including Fernie ski instructors drinking with students with pants down on many different occasions is acceptable as professional ski instructors?

Most skiers around the world always want to know reviews and information about a ski resort and their instructors, here I am sharing my experience with you.

Staff at the ticket place and the ski lifts were helpful and amazing. A wonderful experience especially when I was nervous going on my first chairlift ride. Kudos!

Stayed at Lizard Creek Inn. Great spot on the hill. Lots of paths and hiking in summer. The lift is available to take you up the mountain and down (or you can hike down). Beautiful scenery. Quiet and peaceful.
Restaurant was great.
