Fig Mediterranean Deli

Had a delicious flat bread thingy lol, had meat on it. Freaking delicious! Lots of oils, olives etc etc. A hidden gem. Went in again and was blown away with their food.

Food was very good but can't say it was the best souvlaki i have ever tasted but I would return. More feta please! Everything else was awesome!
I tried Spanikopita, soup, cookies, shwarma and souvlaki. Yum!

Best pizza in town, staff is super friendly! They have a wide range of imported goods, can't speak highly enough of The Fig

This is the most affordable delicatessen I’ve been to in Victoria. High quality products as well, and the store has a great ambience to it. If only it wasn’t in Saanich.

I have been buying black olives from the deli for decades. There are many specialties from my childhood. I never leave the Fig without saying hi to the owner as well. As the other staff he is very helpful.

Good spot for mediterranean food. Got the chicken shawarma. It was fine: chicken was not dry, pickles and veggies were a bit underwhelming (flavor lacking), pita was good. Service was nice, place was clean. Browsed the shelves and looks like they have a nice selection of shelf stable foods.

Love buying the fresh baked veggie pies and spanikapita, i will always pick up fresh olives. I think the olives are better then most in town.

There's enormous selection here of treats from various ethnic backgrounds. Middle eastern, Eastern European, Italian and others. A pleasure to visit but some prices are higher than other food stores.

Their shawarma was the blandest I've ever had. The chicken looked pale on the skewer. The portion sizes are also small.

I came here back in June 2019 for a chicken shawarma. It was pretty good. Unfortunately with the pandemic and everything I moved away before having a chance to return. Hoping I can come back someday.

It really feels like an old world market and deli. This is where I go for anything interesting or obscure. You can find something new everytime you go. The staff are very nice too.

We love the great selection of fresh and imported items here. Their house made deli items are great and staff always friendly and helpful. Have a coffee and enjoy the patio. This is also a favourite spot to find unusual gifts.

Quality might be declining. I bought a few items for lunch yesterday and ended up throwing them into the compost this morning. Spanakopita was very tasteless and spinach almost black. The chicken samosa was equally bland and didn't taste fresh. We were most disappointed in 4 pieces of baklava that were soaked in some kind of grease I do not recognize.not honey, maybe not even cane sugar.the nuts were not fresh and they were COLORED GREEN. Nobody colors their food unless it is low quality. The only thing that was up to previous quality was the fatoosh pasta salad. I had to clear my throat for hours after eating the baklava. Of huge concern is when I asked the young lady behind the counter if it was pistachio she said yes. I asked 'any other types of nuts? '. She said no. Actually it was a bunch of different types of nuts, all bland and tasteless and all coloured green. Possibly NO pistachios at all. Maybe employees should take this a bit more seriously for those who have allergies.

One of a kind in Victoria. Excellent selection of deli items, cheeses, speciality grocery items you will not find elsewhere, at prices very much better than other stores. First stop for olive oil, vinegars, roasted red peppers, pitas, dips, bocconcini, anchovy filets, capers, feta all cheaper than grocery stores. Great, fresh and high quality sumac. And don't get me started on the orange cake.
Not as familiar with hot food items as I actually haven't eaten them more than once - was very good that time and large portions- I expect they are all very good.
Worth a visit just for the walnut spread.

This deli has delicious samosas. Amazing selection of olives, cooking oils, feta, dried fruits, and Mediterranean goodies. I will return! Offering hot soup and cooked meals to go for a fair price. Loved it!

This place serves amazing shawarma and has a grand collection of cheeses. Mist importantly you can get good quality olives and Balsamic Vinegar from here.

Fig has been a family favorite since we moved to Victoria. It's got the kind of selection of products you'd expect to find in a city like New York or Paris, but here it is in Victoria. They've got incredible olive oil, tea, spices, cheese, drinks, snacks and prepared food like souvlaki, samosas, pizza and falafel. The owner is a really welcoming and kind gentleman. He's given freebies to my kids over the years and they love him. Oh, and the coffee is fantastic. We've moved a bit further away, but we go to Fig every time we're in Gordon Head.

I wasn't going to review this place because I wanted to keep it my little secret.not like it's really a secret after 600+ reviews. The Greek filo dough "Spanikopitas" and other variations are so good. The Zaatar Lebanese pizza cooked fresh to order in a fire breathing pizza oven was unbelievable. Besides all the made in store grub they have the best selection of Mediterranian products in BC. This place is a gem and the best thing I've found since moving to the island.

This place is a much better specialty grocery store than a deli counter. I had a pizza.wish I hadn't. Maybe the wraps are better. I'm not sure that my brief visit for lunch really got me a full experience to provide a full opinion, but this 3 stars is how I felt.

The Fig deli goes above and beyond for every customer, they have great food and grocery options! One of my favourite lunch options has to the the Chicken shawarma it’s absolutely delicious!

Great little deli. Stopped in today while visiting from Vancouver. Got some spanikopita and samosa. Since it was after 5 and they close at 6 a lot of deli items were out of stock. Staff were very helpful and friendly.
Got one chicken and one veg samosa and we split it. We both liked veg one better, and the dough and flavour reminded us more of egg roll than traditional samosa. It comes with mango chutney.
Will have the spanikopita from breakfast tomorrow.
Found an amazing tea from Greece, mountain tea, it is absolutely delicious, I will be back for more, and try other deli items.

Update: came here earlier in the day and tried more things. So impressed and happy with this shop. Amazing olives and feta, tzaziki, my favourites are the cheese spanikopita, and a brilliant lentil/noodle salad (forget the name) but I highly recommend, it comes with hot sauce, delicious!

Ok, I’ve been searching for a decent shawarma here in Victoria (had the best at Mama Noura & Yamal Al Asham, etc). I will admit it’s a rather difficult level to achieve so far away from the middle east, yet I haven’t lost hope.
Tried the beef shawarma (pita roll/sandwich/wrap) bc they were out of chicken. Decent pita bread; beef nicely cooked, soft, yet too bland while simultaneously having a sharp taste to it (too much vinegar? !?) ; had a bit too many pickled vege’s, and (haram!) NO GARLIC MAYO or equivalent? !? !? !?
I do hope the chicken pita shawarma (roll/sandwich/wrap) measures up better.

Great cozy well run little Mediterranean market with very reasonable pricing and delicious make to order hot and cold food

Great prices, large selection of Mediterranean food, items, and condiments. We had the falafel wraps, which grilled like panini style. They were excellent. There's a nice sunny patio to sit outside. The best part was they are fairly priced, fresh and the staff were very friendly. Definitely a hidden gem here!

Delicious lunch, great selection, sweet little outdoor seating area. Did not yet peruse the stock if the store but it smelled good and looked like a variety and good supply.

My mom pre-ordered take out for a party with her friends. I went to pick up the order for her. Everything was ready and waiting and the bill was at the cashier! So organized and easy and everyone enjoyed all the lunch items! Dessert had been ordered as well but we didn't get to eat those right away. We had those later with coffee. Love their desserts! Yummy tiramisu and orange cake! Had the bougatsa for the first time.would order again. Have been to this place many times. Awesome place! ️

Fig is incredible. I wish I lived closer to it so I could shop here more often. The staff is very friendly and they have a wonderful selection of tasty Mediterranean food. Large selection of olive oils, vinegars, olives, barrel feta, and more! The only thing I wish they had was fresh pita (however they do have frozen, and it does thaw well).

Amazing quality mediterranean food. We are from Calgary and were visiting in Victoria. I was surprised to find products I hadnt seen anywhere else in Canada!

We love this family owned business. Great staff and amazing homemade dishes & desserts. The Tiramisu is to die for! Our family favorites are the Manoush and the individual pizzas. Highly recommended!

Great food and AMAZING service! Employees are super helpful and friendly in every time I come here. Today the blonde young lady in the deli rushed out to help me at the cash cz I'm pregnant and holding a lot of stuff, she carried stuff with me and then put them in boxes instead of bags to make easier for me and then she carried the boxes to the car!

Edit: when I came today, I asked for pastries and the one who took the order I believe he's the owner or so, he took the order and left immediately. I stayed there waiting. An employee saw me, I thought he was coming and then he went to another customer. I thought that's ok he will come to me next, then he went to another one who came after me! Then he left and went to chat and laugh with his friend and I'm waiting! Super rude
I stayed there waiting for over 5 mins, a lady (I think she's the owner's wife) came and asked if I needed help, her husband told her to help another customer cz I don't need help! I was like no I need olives and salads and.and he was like "again? You're not done yet? Can't you ask for everything at once? "!
Excuse me! When I asked for pastries he immediately left me without asking if I needed something else, and assume that I changed my mind and I wanted something else, is this how you talk to customers?
I literally felt uncomfortable ordering more or asking for something else cz I felt unwelcome and he was super rude

I found this deli by serendipity as I was driving around Victoria. As I walked into the store the smells of the spices were tantalizing my taste buds. First I stopped and bought spices and other food items noting various countries, this is a store selling international foods.
They have an area of baked and cooked foods.
They also have a bakery section. This is a store that you need to go to to really appreciate the food. I ordered freshly baked Spanakopita and choose a slice of cake. The Spanakopita was the best I’ve ever tasted. The dessert was so fresh and so tasty. I can’t say for sure what spices for this dessert as it was some thing I haven’t eaten before, the next day I went back to buy more to take home. I would say this is more a Mediterranean Store but with saying that they have many items from other countries. The spices in the food is not mild overbearing. I truly wish that we had a store like this in the Comox Valley area. Maybe one day we will have a store like this in the Comox Valley I’m hopeful.

I love coming here. There is such a great selection of food here. The deli counter provides all the feta cheese and beet salad my little heart could desire. The staff are all very friendly and knowledgeable. I am also a fan of the souvlaki and donair.

Consistently tasty lamb souvlaki. Don't leave without getting one. Great priced large-size pita bread that has the right amount of chew (6 pieces, frozen) for $2.50! I don't bother with the too-tender supermarket pita.

A great place to select assorted deli food (feta varieties, pressed yogurt, spanakopita, olives, tapanade, halva, etc.) and have a picnic.

One of the few places with a lot of authentic spices (they have mastic gum sap, black cardamom, dried limes).

The giant bars of olive oil soap are also a great offer here.

Expensive, but has many items that can't easily be found in Victoria. Conveniently close to a good Korean grocer and Japanese grocer.

Fig has so many interesting kinds of specialty items and a great food bar as well. Hot and cold items to eat in or take home. Love this place!

The owner is very knowledgeable and very outgoing awesome community-minded establishment.
I was in there buying some figs the owner was kind enough to suggest a different brand even though it was less expensive he just wanted me to have the best product he had available.
Awesome customer service, even if it's your first time there or if you've been coming for a while they automatically treat you like you're a member of the family awesome as well as very good prices very good quality product
