Fisherman's Terrace Seafood Restaurant

Most of the dim sum dishes were fantastic especially the har gow and siu mai. The turnip cake was so so. The flavor was good but it wasn't pan fried. I like a crunchy exterior. The interior was clean and bright. The service was attentive even with how full the place was.

Food: We ordered the shrimp & chives dumpling, congee, beef tripe & beef tendons, and beef rice rolls.

The shrimp & chives dumplings and congee were good and consistent.

The beef rice rolls and the beef tendons & tripe were on the lesser side. Maybe we came near closing so the beef in the rice rolls were on the lesser side.

The dim sums came out at a right time.

Service: the waiters were fast and efficient. They cleared up the dishes when we were done.

The female front desk person had some improvements to be made (check time of visit). When we were waiting in line, she did not follow the order on the waiting list. We came ahead of a couple (2 people), and she was about to give them the table first? Both groups had to point that out to her. Also, the female front desk person guided us to our table and asked us if we wanted our dim sum menu in English or Chinese. I said in Chinese. However, the female front desk person had an awkward pause (I don’t know what she was thinking) before she got out the dim sum menu.

So it was a strange visit.

Previous visits:
We went to this restaurant twice for dim sum on November 25 and December 4, and the restaurant was consistently good.

Food was fresh and delicious. We ordered the Shrimp and Chives dumplings, congee, beef balls, and steamed pork roll during the 2 visits. They were good.

The service was excellent. The people were very nice and friendly. They engage with customers on conversations.

The atmosphere was great. The restaurant has a modern decor.

Fisherman’s Terrace: I went there on December 23rd for a 5-family set dinner at 7: 30 pm. Once seated, we decided on the set dinner and, after finishing up our Shark Fin soup, we waited for another 25+ minutes for our other dishes to come out. How could this be? And our table wasn’t the only one that was affected, it seems. The table sitting behind us also made the same complaint. Strangely, another table sitting not too far away had had their dishes served one after another. Of course, it could be due to several reasons as to what my uncle mentioned: A) They ordered their set menu in advance over the phone or B), which I think is most likely, nepotism. I asked the servers the reason for the delay, and he said that there was a family gathering of several tables in another section of the restaurant, which caused this. I find that to be a pathetic excuse. I won’t be coming back to this restaurant where the restaurant staff and kitchen are lacking in organizational skills, time management, and restaurant logistics.

Delicious ~ Every service staff is very nice, the food is super delicious, and they recommend suitable meals in a timely manner! There are also free sweet soups and desserts, which is a great surprise!

Dinner is definitely a better choice than having dim sum. The portion is comparatively big given what you pay for nowadays. Not all dishes are consistently good but most of them are quite up to standard. One of the go-to spots when we have big family gatherings.

My family and I went over to this place sometime ago. The food and service had deteriorated so much. I totally believe all the one star comments given to this restaurant. The servicers were rude and ignored you when you asked for something, utensils and table clothes were stained. Food wasn't good at all. When my sister went over to pay for the bill and give a reasonable tip, the lady at the counter DEMANDED that she give more because "It's not enough, GIVE MORE! ". We will never ever step into this restaurant again and we make sure our friends and family know about our experience.

The services only good on local people, food quality in Calgary even better with that prices, service I even don't want to mentioned

Atmosphere:
They are super busy but they do take rezzies. We called a few days ahead and were able to get a table for 12. I was grateful because the last time I tried to come here for dinner, they were booked up for 2 hours and wouldn't put anymore people on the waitlist. So I was really excited to eat here when we finally got on the list for dim sum.

Food:
What can I say.it just wasn't good. Most of the things were Average and some things were just bad. Average things were like Pheonix (Chicken) Feet and Har gow. But the things that stood out to me that were just BAD were the Shu Mai - they're smaller than average size and they did not taste good. The Cha Sui Buns - small filling and flavors were not there and the filling was mushy. The Century Egg & Pork Porridge was bland and just tasted like water. Had no tiny pieces of pork and century egg.

Service:
It was so chaotic in here. Everyone was busy and it was hard to get anyone's attention. The guy who seated us asked us what tea we wanted and I asked what kind he had and then he just walked away and brought us a random tea.

You order from a slip (had English & Chinese) and turn it in. Then they print out a receipt all in Chinese. Apparently they got one of our orders wrong but we weren't able to catch it until the dish was delivered (and it was 2 large dishes) and we told them we didn't order it but they pointed to it on the receipt which was in Chinese and we said we couldn't read it and didn't check it off on our slip. They ignored us and continued to go on with everything. We asked for our original order and they finally brought us the buns (which weren't even good) and did not admit fault. They charged us for everything even though we didn't order it and told them twice.

Honestly the whole experience was super disappointing. Oh and the price was pretty high for what we got. I have always had excellent dim sum in Richmond because that is what is expected here. I don't know how this place has such ratings. It honestly was one of the worst dim sum places I had been.

As a Cantonese or HKger, this restaurant is much overrated, including the level of food and services. Overpriced needless to say. Save ur money, try somewhere else.

This might be my favourite dim sum place, I loved everything we had here! The congee, the shrimp dumplings, the chicken feet, the egg yolk buns-everything was incredibly tasty.

So happy to have such a good dim sum in Richmond, Vancouver. Our good friend took us here as we requested. Definitely will go back because now we know what to order

Our noon time reservation didn’t seem to make a difference as we waited a further 35-40 mins before being let in. Once in though, service was efficient and quick, typical of Chinese restaurants. We ordered a number of dim sum fare, all tasty and fresh (except for the mixed meat and peanuts). Place was buzzing.

Agreed with some of the poor reviews on here. The host didn’t know I spoke Cantonese and she let in several small groups before me. I was first in line for non-reservations. I confronted her and asked why she let these groups in before me and she said she checked them off. I started speaking Cantonese to her and she was shocked and tried to back track and explain herself. She knew I understood everything and that she didn’t ask for any names while “marking resos off”. Typical Chinese restaurant that don’t treat everyone equally. They also charge $2 per person for tea lol, and again, still didn’t ask me what tea I wanted until I spoke Cantonese to them.

Total shame they don’t treat everyone equally.

Bad service. Waited half an hour at least to find out they didn’t even put in our orders. They took our ordering form too. When we asked they just say wait for a bit. We asked again and they finally checked; that was when they finally input our orders. And then proceeds to lie to me; I asked if she just put in the order for us and she said no. I clearly see on the list the time of input. Then I felt as if we were ignored. And when we asked for help she seemed to show attitude.

Came here before heading out on my flight, the waitress and manager were polite and helpful. Have nothing to complain about besides the dimsum being good, but just not great. I would stop by again for a quick dimsum cravings.

Visited this restaurant on Easter Sunday afternoon for lunch with a party of 11 including 3 babies, so we were expecting this place is gonna be busy, to be honest I was expecting bad service and food will arrive slow! To my surprise, the service was pretty good, and we got our food pretty quickly. Everyone seems to be pretty happy with their selections and dim sum, the kids really enjoyed it! We will definitely come back with our family and order the same dishes, maybe with dessert next time!

Love thus place. High end decor and service but price is low end. Highly recommend this to anyone. Their bbq pork is to die for. Too bad this is only served on weekends.

Restaurant is alway busy. Food quality has been consistent. Reservation is recommended but no guarantee table is ready. Weekends and holidays are the worst time to go…waited for almost an hour with reservation. Service varies with time and day of week…so tip accordingly.

It tastes really good! The slice duck was amazing! Everything was also really good! The price is reasonable for the quality you get. I would definitely everyone to try it out.

We had their One Fish, Two Dish, delicious, service attentive, free parking and price is very reasonable. 2 kinds of complimentary desserts. Will definitely go back.

The only thing I like about this place is "plenty of parking! " Other than that, food is average. Price is average. Service is. What? Service? Haha haha! You're not serious, are you?

We are a party of 7 that dined here on a very busy Easter season. We are all first-rime diners here so we didn't know what to expect. But the staff really delivered excellent service! It didn't take more than 10 minutes to get the foods served and the foods we ordered all came piping hot. We unanimously agreed that this resto is one of the best Chinese restaurants we ever dined in. The foods are very tasty. The staff are helpful in the selection of menu, they are efficient and fast Thank you very much for the wonderful experience.

They treat you better if you're a regular. Mid food for the price, nothing to write home about.

Believe the hype! This place nails all the staples of dim sum. No gimmicks. Just classic Cantonese cuisine executed with finesse.

Great service as well as good quality tea and dim sum. As it was my first time dining in during covid, I do wish the tables were a bit better spaced out but they did do a thorough check of vaccination status even if it was one from out of province.

Nothing special to mention on dim sum. Pricey these days to go dim sum lunch. Can try again if I am in Richmond.

Was recommended by others to try this dim sum spot. However, disappointed by it's low quality dim sums. Noodles we're extremely dry.

Authentic Hongkonger style dim sum conveniently located inside Aberdeen Centre in Richmond. Friendly service.

I’ve been coming here for years. I especially find “Ming” helpful with recommending what’s fresh and a “must order” for the meal. I’ve never had a bad experience with the food, nor service. The only downside is that the restrooms are shared with the mall. Great choices are whatever’s fresh in the live seafood tanks, soy chicken, basil fried pork chop, pea-shoots in superior sauce, and scallops in seasonal veggies. Great dim sum too!

The service here was great. It's relatively busy but our server was very attentive. Love the seafood congee here! Add a little bit of hot oil and it's even more amazing. It is a little pricey but the quality is good. The shrimp dumplings and rice roll is quite good as well. A great choice within Aberdeen!

They fail takeout on all levels except service. Portions tiny and quality took a nose dive. Being a regular for dine-in, the terrible take out disappointed me to no end.
The wait staff is top notch as usual however: swift, polite and efficient.

Disappointed as most of our dishes were not made fresh. You know it right away because the sticky rice had old rice or bottom rice left overs, durian pastry were not flakey or melt in your mouth, the beef with eggplant seemed to be eggplant with beef, steam egg yolks were not runny but pasty. My mom was looking forward to try this resto but unfortunately it wasnt that great.

Some dishes are well done and others were lacking and the probs are small but overall, this place still ranks high on the list of local dim sum go to restaurants.

The quality of food was below standard and had been deleyed more than 40 minutes for my original pick up time.

We waited over an hour for a seat. Service seemed slow with us being ignored for about 10 minutes when we first sat down. They give you tea, but no cold drinking water. The food was delicious once it came out. Again though, when we were finished, we waited another 10 minutes for someone to take our card. Overall, good food, but I wish the service was faster, especially with so many people waiting.

I have eaten at dozens of dim sum restaurants across North America and Europe. This one is simply the best. Everything I’ve eaten here is great, but the sesame balls are truly sublime.

The food here is good however service is quite grassroot. I had several bad experiences with the servers, some can be rude and unpolished. To cite an incident, i asked a server for a dish of spicy sauce; he said bluntly that the restaurant did not have spicy sauce. When I asked again, he said the spicy sauce is only for frequent customers and I am not one of those. I asked to talk to his supervisor and unfortunately even the upper management had bad attitude, so how can the junior staff's be polite?

Oh man was recommended to come here by and friend and thank geese for them because the dim sum was off the hook. I’ve been searching for rice rolls for a long time and I finally found the perfect ones! (They also have like 10 different types)

Place is nice. Food is worth the value. But parking space is seriously lacking. People often take 15-30 mins circle multiple floors to find a spot. Drivers are less polite. Often see people are fighting for space. Parking space also narrow. If dining in this place, highly recommend take public transit.

The waiter was the worst I have ever seen. The bill was $46.5 and I paid 50. He grumbled that the tips should be 10%. Notwithstanding what the norm is, he should not have openly solicited the gratuity in such bad manners.

The dim sum was fantastic, the seafood and service was terrible. Come here for the food, not the service

I live in Ottawa and really look forward to eating authentic Chinese food whenever I'm in the Vancouver area. We stopped at Aberdeen centre to check out the Chinese New year displays and had an early dim sum at Fisherman's. I don't recommend it as it's not the best quality and quite pricey for what you get. The fried crispy dumplings with pork filling had very little pork filling and the shrimp and chive steamed dumplings had an atomic yellow wrapper, which is highly unusual. See pics. The beef rice roll was not good quality with the rice roll being way too gummy and it was much more expensive than other restaurants ($7.25). Service was ok. The plates on our table were sticky I suggest saving your money and going to other restaurants in Richmond.

Awesome for dim sum! Highly recommended but come early so you don’t have to wait too long for a table. However, the wait is worth it.

You cannot go wrong with this place when it comes to dim sum or dinner! They do a good job of adapting to vegetarians for order made dishes. Since dim sum is usually prepared ahead of service, those are harder to adjust. However, there are still a number of items to try out for those who do not eat meat. Super on point when it comes to taste. They also carry decent quality puerh tea:)

Household name in the dimsum community. Nice food and lots of varieties. Good service most of the time. Must make reservations and still you have to wait during dimsum time.

Pricy food with average quality of food. Complained about the chicken that was not fresh but waitress insisted no issue whatsoever and added 12% of tips by herself. Will not choose this place for friends gathering again for sure.

Recommended Chinese restaurant for lunch and dinner. There is plenty of free parking in Aberdeen Centre parkade. Restaurant is on the 3rd level. Restaurant is roomy and service is very good. Most importantly the food is good and portion is good too. I have been here numerous times and I had my wedding banquet here as well. Free wifi in restaurant.

The only thing I didn't like is that the washroom is in the back.way back of the restaurant and it's a little walking distance from the eating area. Washroom is cleaner than average Chinese restaurant.

**UPDATE** Nov 2019 - Restaurant was recently renovated with better lighting and new carpet. The restaurant is now brighter.

Dinner was a letdown! Appetizer plate was stale! Barely half a chicken with over salty ham. Sweet n sour pork was clunky! Ugh.
Mushroom n peashoots good except for gooey sauce. King shan tofu OK. Best was the slow cooked soup.
Not going again!

I've heard of this dim sum restaurant for a long time and finally tried it! Delicate and delicious dim sum dishes, will come back to try different items. Be aware the lineup is VERY LONG, prepare to wait for at least 30 minutes. Service was okay, the last server who helped with our bill was friendly.
