It’s the best gym I have ever been. When I tried other clubs, I couldn't find myself there somehow. Then I started to work out at home. But when I ran into the fitness world by a chance and met Rebecca changed my gym life and my lifestyle in the greatest way. When I was looking for some things to change my life, that was the best opportunity I could have ever gotten. Rebecca is super positively and she added a lot beautiful things in my life. She changed the way I’m looking for a life. She became the closest person to me. She’s always here for me whenever I need her.and She is not only helping people that she loves. She helps everyone who needs help from what I've seen, and she really cares about people for real. Besides her golden heart, she is actually successful on the gym. She really works hard to develop her skills and she always tries to add more and more. She really cares and loves her job for sure. When all these combine all together, she is the best trainer and the best person that you would want to get and feel yourself lucky and safety hands at the gym. If you want to really see a progress or something looking for or searching for I would strongly suggest to work with Rebecca!

I have been working with Rebecca Kendrick for a while now. Rebecca is an amazing personal trainer. She's incredibly knowledgeable, motivating, and really knows how to push you to reach your fitness goals. Her workouts are challenging but fun, and she truly cares about your progress. If you're looking for a dedicated and supportive trainer, I highly recommend Rebecca Kendrick!

I’ve been to lots of different gyms in my life, and I’ve never had the kind of positive experience I’ve had at Fitness World in Port Moody. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The first person I met, Newman, signed me up and from that point on, would greet me every time I was there. He would also ask how things were and if there was anything I needed. I’ve never experienced staff who actually seems to care about you. You rock Newman!

Next I met Jon, the fitness manager I believe, and he was helpful in setting me up with a personal trainer to help with my injury recovery. After I met Jon, he would also greet me every time I saw him, by first name, nonetheless. Class act!

Lastly I met PJ, my personal trainer. I had 6 sessions with PJ, and he completely changed my approach to working out. He gave me personalized exercises for exactly what my needs were. I trusted him from the beginning and I’m so glad I did. He was motivating but also pushed me to get the best out of our sessions. I would recommend purchasing 5 sessions with a personal trainer, and picking PJ! He’s the man!

Poorly maintained gym. Multiple times a week, the entire men’s washroom/change room is taped up and out of service or the stalls themselves are out of service. Always a few pieces of equipment not working. I don’t think staff ever cleans. Overall their services are inadequate

Been regularly training with David. He is a great trainer, highly knowledgeable and I have seen great results over the past couple months. Managers and staff are friendly and helped me out with any questions or concerns.

Kindly asked the GM to cancel my account close to 2 weeks before the next bi- weekly payment (which is due December 9th). He did and went on to do it as a 30 day notice cancelation which is fine. I don't mind getting charged the last 2 bi weeklies for December. But he also charged an annual fee at 41.99$ on my account during that 30 day notice period even though my account will be no longer active after December and that fee is meant for year that follows. Unethical to say the least. I will be telling all my colleagues, friends and family about this. So if your business runs on word of mouth, expect nothing good to come out of this ex- customer.

My wife and I have worked out here since the doors originally opened as Crunch Fitness, it's close to home and convenient. I find the gym has a lot of great equipment, maintanance is kept up and it is clean. The down side is that this gym definately gets overly busy at times and this issue is compounded because so many people don't put weights away, this gym is the worst that I've ever seen for this problem. Also I find way to many people sitting on phones instead of working out while I wait for equipment.

I am incredibly upset and disappointed by how this experience turned out. My original review below- a 5 star review- was honest at the time. I had a great experience training with Damien, and then after when he moved into a different position, also enjoyed training with Blake. Training quality was very good, but we feel like we were financially taken advantage of which makes me question this entire experience.

I had signed up with the impression that I was agreeing to the pacing of 2 sessions a week and putting a card on file to charge for payments as we go. I was aware that it charges for 2 at a time, which didn't send me any red flags because i was coming weekly and there were weekly charges. However, after giving notice about stopping our sessions (my notice was given 4 sessions in advance) we continued to be charged for our sessions as if we were still attending twice a week.

When we emailed the manager about it, we were told that we had not fulfilled our 'obligation date' and to give 2 weeks notice to cancel exactly by "our obligation date". I had given notice via messenger in their training app on July 19, and my trainer replied saying it was no problem on that same day. I was never told at that time to email management and let them know, but was told on my final session (two weeks later) with the disclaimer "they'll probably be okay with it". This was a flag for me- why would they not be okay with it when I hadn't agreed to a time-frame, number of sessions, or any commitment for that matter?

I did not agree to continue training until any date in particular- didn't sign a contract about personal training time/session commitment, only talked in speculation about pacing which I'd mentioned might change since the beginning of the process. Nobody once mentioned that this might be an issue or that id committed to any time frame. When I emailed the manager about our continued charges, he said "Please give me two week notice prior to your obligation date so your PT will be cancelled exactly on Sep 26th. " He also indicated that id changed my 'obligation date' (which i didnt know i had) once already for a new trainer, but I had been required to switch trainers when mine was no longer available (I didnt have a choice in the matter).

I feel like I was signed up unethically as it appears that there was information omitted as to what I was agreeing to, allowing them to charging us and hold us to a certain date. My partner went through the exact same thing with her payments and attempt to stop sessions, and when her trainer said 'no problem' to her stopping sessions (she asked for the forseeable future), she found out in her contact with management that it was simply on pause until some time next month when charges would have resumed. All of this with no agreement to continue for any time frame.

I have never left a negative review like this before, but I am that upset and disappointed by this. Giving out your credit card information, and signing up for personal training, is an incredibly vulnerable thing, and it was abused by this gym.

TLDR: tricked into a time commitment we didn't know about or agree upon, fought on cancellation; don't trust this gym with your credit card, and if they say you can change pacing at any point and if you think you're purchasing individual sessions as you go, you're likely not.

Great gym! Very affordable and with great equipment. Training with Damien has been great- I'm getting results quickly and enjoying my sessions while I'm there. He's also putting a lot of effort into make sure I understand everything and get my mobility up so that I can do things on my own when we're done working together (which I really appreciate). No complaints:)

If they call you to sign up and you don't go to this gym just hang up and do it in person at your local fitness world. These guys will lie and upsell to coerce you. Tried contacting multiple times to cancel and I got passed around multiple times with no way to contact the manager. If the option of cancelling over the phone is mentioned don't fall for it.

I go to the Fitness world in Port Moody. It is a great place to come to get fit. They have great trainers, but one of them is even better. He has great schooling and knows what is doing. His name Jon Phang. The reason why I like to come is to keep fit and get all parts of my body strength properly for what I do for work and everyday living.

Decent gym and nice equipment, no one puts away any of the weights - including the staff. Everytime I've visited there is plates everywhere. They would also benefit to invest in more plate racks and cable handles.

This place is the dumps! Took these photos just this past Thur at about 6-ish pm inside the boyz' change room. Even some DTES bathrooms are better kept. I've even witnessed some younger dudes vaping in there, and told them to get the heck out and do so somewhere else.
Indoor masking not enforced, observing some 90+% of members moving around in between work out machines unmasked. Only time they're masked are when being scanned while entering the gym. Also too many members gathering in groups chatting away and hugging.
Wishing the staff will do their due diligence with cleanliness, and carry out health order enforcements.

Absolutely love this gym! Love the location, well-equipped gym. The staff is very friendly and professional. The hydro-massage and the tanning is a bonus as well. I did a personal training session with Rafael, a very amazing coach. He helped me reach my fitness goals and I could not recommend him more!

There is a boy at the front desk named Nick who is extremely accommodating, outgoing, and I must say very good looking! If you have the privilege of being greeted by this boy upon arrival then be prepared to swoon - he’s fantastic and deserves a raise

Well.a manager, named Andy, is not doing a responsible job of managing the place safely for customers during the pandemic. There are still crowds exercising in close quarters, very little distancing. Very few customers are wearing masks, and staff are doing little to encourage the right behavior. Sorry to report, but this gym is not safe.

Here a brief update: Ever since posting this review, we have been in dialogue. More to follow.

So, we are hitting the 4th wave of COVID and FW never fails me. There is no enforcement of the mask requirements and it can be safely said that not everyone on the floor has been double vaccinated. And even then. Will let WorkBC deal with it.

Good gym good prices, just don't ever try and cancel a membership, even if ur past ur one year. My recommendation would be to use them and pay by the month and never ever let them even know you have a credit card. I'm a little bitter due to the fact I was month to month at Steve nash and was automatically signed up for this place. Despite the fact I payed everymonth with my debit card at nash somehow I got put on auto credit card payments.

Somehow ended up with a membership to Fitness World even though I registered with Crunch which was here before & went bankrupt. They kept my membership and increased the payment (double what I signed up for actually). I wasn't able to cancel my membership during the pandemic because I had committed to a year with the previous gym. Not very happy about the whole situation but I'll be happy to cancel in the next week.

Got my membership and it came with a personal training session was not going to use it but I was suggested to give it a try. I was set up w Rafael and I don't regret it one bit. Probably one of the most knowledgeable PTs I've ever met. Super chill but also charismatic and very easy to talk to (but he'll also step in if he catches you slacking: D). Basically it's like working out with your best friend but he actually knows all the proper forms and techniques. Highly suggest seeking him out if you are just starting your gym journey or if you want to learn more advanced technical lifts/workouts. Been training with him ever since.

It was great when it was Crunch but went straight down hill under fitness world. Weights all over the place, 5 people on one bench press with no masks, no staff doing a thing about it. One day they care about covid, the next they don’t.

Then their Vice President literally bullied my wife into tears trying to get her to share a machine with him (against their policy and Health orders) then told her to train somewhere else.

Place is an absolute joke. It’s cheap but you get what you pay for.

The equipments are great. However, they lack in the area of COVID plan that is safe. Other gyms have been providing each member a spray bottle as they walk in to ensure everyone is cleaning the equipment after use. Fitness world choose to use wipes instead, and there are only 5 placed in the entire gym.

Gym etiquette is one of the worst I’ve see in all the gyms I’ve been to. Weights are constantly placed elsewhere, and some weights are placed on the wrong racks.

Staff will tell you to social distance one second, and then start hugging all their friends the next. They continuously implement new rules for a more 'covid friendly environment' and act like they forgot the next day. Embarrassing.

Staff are not monitoring patrons who are wearing chin diapers, seldom see staff do any cleaning. It seems that the PHO are not being followed, allowed to use cardio equipment without wearing a mask. Received a second email from Fitness World re possible exposure. You would think the staff during the weekdays would enforce the mask mandate. Still having people deciding not to wear a mask while working out. Weekend staff doing much better job of ensuring we are all safe.

I signed up for this gym before covid broke out. I showed up in person twice to cancel, and both times they confirmed it was canceled without providing a receipt or proof of cancelation. Nine months later after they have tried to charge my card unsuccessfully they sent my information to creditors without trying to contact me. I just went there and paid for 9 months of membership which I did not use once to avoid my credit being damaged. I am very sad and disappointed with this gym.

Fitness World started to charge our CC in August of 2020 and we never had an account with them. First they said we had to come in person. What? In the middle of a pandemic. So they agreed to email me and now we have two charges on our CC. One charge for Surrey and one for Suter Brook. We only every had one account with Steve Nash in Coquitlam and now we getting the run around and unauthorized charges. Hey Sienna, what up? Why the extra charge after I called to cancel?

Started going right before new years. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Got a few free personal training sessions with Dany and he's been great. Really funny and chill guy, but still pushes me and seems genuinely interested in my personal improvement. Immediately after my first free session I booked a few months worth of PT sessions at a very good deal. Excited to keep working with Dany and the rest of the staff!

I put my membership on hold and am still getting charged. Someone didn’t process the paperwork. So my holidays were spent getting ripped off by my gym during a pandemic. I am livid and would highly recommend you never sign up for this gym!

Before joining please read my experience, as it might help you.

How I would describe my experience with the new Fitness World; bad business, disregard for professionalism, lack of understanding. This business just wants to steal your money.

Andy Cross is the GM at Sutter Brook, he's made my experience at Fitness World horrible. He did not do enough to answer my questions or help me in these tough times with the pandemic.

I cancelled my membership and 30 day period cancellation period ended November 11/2020 but was charged the entire month of November.

I asked for clarification and refund, he gave me a screen shot of a term. His emails indirectly implied that the company can take your money and there's nothing else that can be done.

Andy failed to address my horrible experience and did not acknowledge that I wanted to speak to someone else for further help.

From August 26th 2020- November 1st 2020 this company has taken $140 from me.

Take home message: avoid this business.

Love this gym large and always has equipment to use. Also, if youre considering a personal trainer, Mo is awesome. Super knowledgeable, he pushes you to your limits, and has good attention to detail.

It is a great gym with all new facilities and friendly staff. There is a guy over there, his name is MAZ, he is so helpful and super friendly with high level of customer service. It is good to see how these people love their jobs and are there to help their clients.

Very frustrated. I signed up for a year long membership with Crunch before it became Fitness World and prior, it was a great experience.

HOWEVER, after COVID and the switch to Fitness World, I was never asked permission from the new owners to automatically withdraw membership fees from my account. Not only that but also because I am at a higher risk, I no longer wanted to go to the gym. I have a few friends that have told me that social distancing measures aren't that great now and you can't even schedule a time to go to the gym. After calling multiple times, no one could help me cancel my membership. Apparently they failed to notify me when they decided to extend the time I had to continue to pay. I was supposed to be done my contract this month.but instead I'm supposed to be paying until April? I should be able to cancel my membership because these are UNPRECEDENTED times and it's a global pandemic and NOT in the contract. I should not be paying for something that I don't feel safe using. Also COVID cases are at an all time high and we're already back in similar lockdown situation. I don't feel safe at the gym and I shouldn't be forced to go and pay for it.

I also got 4 payments taken from my account in one credit card statement and no one seems to be willing to help me. I'm disappointed.

Need to warn people.and get this out there. I would MAYBE expected this type of treatment if we would have signed a one year contract and tried getting out of it early. This was NOT the case, we were on a monthly basis, and I'm still waiting on my full refund. Here's the story: did not use the gym past Jan 2020.tried to cancel after the COVID-19 freeze period was up at the end of summer.they still charged us (me and my spouse) Aug - October. After harassing them for months they finally provided a couple refunds but did NOT refund their latest charges end of October, (see pic). Already paid the cancellation fee back in September, not sure why they continue with this BS. Multiple phone calls and emails later and nothing. Take your business elsewhere!

Went to Fitness World Suterbrook this week.
Staff were wearing masks routinely wipe down the equipment and insisting clients wear masks in the weight area or while walking around. They have finally started enforcing a mask wearing and encouraging clients to quit hanging around in groups when they workout.

I was harassed the entire time I was in the gym the guy made a point to follow me around and make sure I was 6 feet away from my ROOMATE I offered to show ID immediately as I walked in you could double check with the front desk he never checked it then continued to walk over and chat with a girl working out in the gym practically whispering in her ear. Everyone else was training with people I spotted over 15 partners in the gym there's no way they were all roomates or related and he never once spoke to anyone just harassed me.

Love this gym! The equipment and facilities are all brand new and you can tell they do a great job of keeping everything clean. They have several sanitization stations and I've noticed staff out on the floor enforcing social distancing during busy times. They recently added in more equipment to help people spread out AND brand new spin bikes and classes. I really like the way the gym is organized and the great selection of equipment.
The team members are all very friendly and make you feel very welcomed. This place has great atmosphere and I definitely recommend!

Do not purchase your membership from this gym, and stay away from the sales like Andy, Sienna and Maz.

Forget social distancing. Hardly any patron was wiping weights or equipment down before or after. Groups of friends were meeting and shaking hands, spotting each other and working out in groups. I walked into the change room and there was nearly 20 guys in there. Very risky! Be warned

Came in a day after they opened back up during Covid to cancel my membership. They convinced me to freeze my membership instead. Fast forward 2 weeks and I get charged for my frozen membership. I’ve asked to speak to the manager on multiple occasions and he’s always “out of the office” or “in a meeting” yet doesn’t call me back as requested. Currently on hold with the credit card company as it’s been a month and no one has attempted to contact me.

Went to Suter Brook to cancell my membership i joined Nash fitness in 2004 my location was Westwood now closed for good. When i went on my bank statement $21.67 was removed by fitness world. I guess you have to pay even if a service is no longer aviable. The manger Andy told me i need to pay another $21.67 as i didnt give one month notice, sorry where is my notice you bought Nash fitness never knew till you took my money. I suspect there are others learning as i did the hard way, also head office has no phone number to call. This could have been handled alot smarter and not underhanded as was done.

Its a great gym, has everything i need, and i love the crossfit jungle area they have! Ive been going here from the start and its been great.
Although, i would suggest not going on the weekends if you are covid aware. It gets really packed there.

My husband and I joined when they first opened and we couldn’t be happier at this gym. We have been lifting all of our lives and have been members at countless gyms over the years but spent a majority of our time at a local Port Moody old school bodybuilding gym. Ownership changed hands and we saw the steady decline of the gym so we left. We were thrilled when we heard of Crunch (now Fitness World) opening. The equipment is fantastic, tons of plate loaded machines and lots of space for squatting/deadlifting.
The staff are very friendly and always cheerful when we arrive, while we train and when we leave. Robby, one of their personal trainers is always very welcoming and made us feel right at home when we came back after lockdown.
Andy, the manager is extremely helpful with any questions you have and helped us upgrade our membership recently.
They do a great job keeping the gym clean and have plenty of stations with necessary wipes for the equipment.
I would highly recommend this gym if you are a serious lifter like us or a beginner who wants to learn more about training! Super affordable and parking underground or on street level.

Lots of knuckleheads go to this gym. Their is not a lot of equipment to chose from if your a more advanced lifter. The staff are average at best. Ppl there dont clean up after themselves. They dont work hard. Bad energy. Bad music. I would recommend West coast iron on Broadway off coast meridian. That gym is better in every way.but it is an improvement from SNFW in coquitlam.

The club has failed to respond to any emails after the front staff member gave me an address to contact with regards to cancelling membership. They told me to freeze my account until we figured it out, but then quit communicating with me completely.

Although this gym had a rough reopening due to the change in ownership, the staff and team have handled the situation spectacularly considering the mess they were handed. Andy, the manager, has taken great care in order to help make this transition much smoother and I am more then happy with this gym. The atmosphere here is really unlike any other gym. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the equipment is well kept and the washrooms are always clean. I want to take the time to leave this place a good review as the staff have been working very hard to make the gym feel as welcoming as it was prior to the shift. Don't let the other reviews stop you from coming to this wonderful place.

Stole money from me. I cancelled my membership when this location was Crunch, but received an email that my membership had transferred over to Fitness World. I also called this location and confirmed my membership was cancelled two weeks ago. However, yesterday I was charged and today when I called again, I was told that my membership is still active, that I need to physically go to the location to cancel it, and that I will not be receiving a refund.
