Good latte. Not very friendly staff working at the till. I asked if the cookies were any good and she said “yah” very unenthusiastically without looking at me. Needless to say I didn’t try a cookie.

Lovely place to have coffee and breakfast. It’s a very high-quality cafe. You must go there in the morning to enjoy the feeling of sunshine coming in

I’ve been getting into baking bread lately, so thought I would try this place out. Before I bought my supplies, I thought I would have a beer and a slice of bread, they don’t slice bread, even though they’re a bread shop. I bough a loaf, They offered me a butter knife to cut the bread, I asked for a bread knife, and it caused a huge issue, we will do it this time, but only once, and we don’t do that. I didn’t buy my supplies. I will say that the sourdough loaf I bought was excellent. Customer is king, first impressions only happen once. I think I’ll just go to Terra breads next time and they will slice it for me for much less dough.

Adding to my review after their quick response. The reason people generally want their bread sliced is for home use. Stop swimming upstream, by a slicer, give people what they want and are willing to pay for.

The chocolate cookie is to die for! Hard on the outside and soft and chocolately on the inside - you must get one! Delicious coffee and a healthy serving of avocado on the toast. Would recommend!

Everything tastes so homemade and the ingredients are super fresh. Ordered the daily veggie sandwich, epic salad, and savory bun. The inside of the cafe is so aesthetically simplistic and the customer service is very friendly.

What kind of a bakery runs out of bread at 11: 30 am on a Saturday? A wasted trip on a busy Saturday. I'll be going elsewhere

Great place to shop for your bread and dough. The sourdough is amazing. The place is pretty, comfortable and they use Aseop for their bathroom:)

Make sure to visit the washroom while you’re here and then go grab da bread by givin em your bread (this place isn’t cheap but I think worth it)

now I’ll echo the wise sentiment of Betten caus of da soap

‘People enter/ The building/ Potential customers/ Enlisting/ I serve them tea/ With mint leaves/ Smile hard… I ask them how their day is going/ What kind of facial products they are pursuing? / They ask for samples/ They retrieve/ Smile harder/ They believe’

Just tried branola- very salty - the new mellifera honey is the best I have tasted - cookie bundle never disappoints - shared the chocolate tart and loved the flavor and silky texture - would not use any other flours now - I could go on and on! We always get delivery the next day and once the bread came warm - so good!

My favourite spot for bread, pastries and occasional dry goods. Quality never disappoints, also they have delicious coffee!
18 April 2023 1:32
Really great place, but a note to the owner. Please get an oven/microwave to warm up pastry. We love it but it’s cold. Asked to warm it up but was told it wasn’t possible. Otherwise really great place. Thank you!

Very friendly staff with excellent attention to detail! I placed an order today and they were able to go above and beyond with a same day delivery. I am very appreciative of the help and highly recommend their services for any and all in the future.

I love the bread at this place, and the ethos of supporting small grain growers and freshly milled flour, all great! However, I've lived around the corner since it opened and pop in frequently to get a loaf or a treat, and I have some mixed feelings about the staff and atmosphere. A lot of the staff seem annoyed to be working there (probably because a loaf costs nearly what they make hourly), and I've never felt inclined to actually sit down, it just feels like a beige mood board in there.

A very cute neighborhood cafe/bakery/grocery: minimal wooden interior, well-organized shelves, good selection of baked goods. It was a nice day to have their apple & cinnamon turnover and a latte to walk around Trout Lake. An extra point for a clean washroom.
16 March 2023 8:55
Took refuge here because of the sudden snowfall and Im glad I did! Ordered a slice of their pumpkin cake and it was yummy! The cake wasn't dry and the icing was not too sweet - just enough for my liking. Coffee was good as well.

The servers were nice and the whole place is really cozy.

The vegan margherita is phenomenal and is by far the best vegan pizza in Vancouver. The dough is crunchy and really flavourful by itself because of the special flour milled in house. The staff is friendly and super kind.

A great hangout for foodies, part local market, part library, part eatery. Nice layout, beautiful design aesthetic with a nordic colour palette, comfortable banquettes. Novel business concept, especially the giant wooden milling and packing contraption. A baker's curiosity.

Tried potato bread and buttermilk biscuit, both which had.flavour! Quiche and cherry turnover have great dark (whole wheat, rye?) crusts.

Flourist quickly became one of my favourite neighbourhood spots since I moved to the city! Coffee is consistently great, baked treats & breads are top notch and the staff are always super friendly. Great place to grab to-go or sit in and work for a few hours
17 December 2022 22:44
Food was great but the staff were quite unpleasant. Don't attempt to buy bread here unless you know precisely what you are looking for. Items were not well labelled and we were greeted with a very poor attitude from the staff.
16 October 2022 10:02
All items are unique and tasty, although the flours seem all to be whole wheat like, so some diners may find them heavier than normal.
05 October 2022 1:46
I have lived near Flourist since it opened and have had good and bad experiences there. Generally I think it's overrated and overpriced. At four dollar for a cookie, I expect a mind-blowing cookie. They are all right but kind of crumbly. Generally I find most of the baked items a bit on the dry and bland side.

Most of the items on offer are like a small but expensive snack, and it's hard to find anything there that looks like a lunch.

Went in with my family and got two of the twelve dollar veggie sandwiches because they were the only thing that looked substantial and they were a big disappointment, kind of soggy on the bottom but still very dry tasting. The veggie sandwich was basically just bread, cheese, arugula and roasted peppers. It had some utterly massive chunks of sharp cheese. Normally I'm a big fan of aged and sharp cheeses, but this was a bit much. With that much cheese in the sandwich I can kind of see how it would be a twelve dollar sandwich, but how about cutting the amount of cheese in half and making it a six dollar sandwich? Adding a condiment of some kind and grilling the sandwich would have both increased the yumminess, but as it was it was uninspiring and also just a mess to eat. Neither sandwich was finished.

I have had a bit more success with the galettes and the Breakfast Bun, and the coffee is decent.

My friend went in a month ago and said a worker there was very unfriendly and rude, especially when they were told they didn't accept cash. Then a week ago my mom went in and same thing, very unfriendly and even some bad attitude

Dropped in for a quick snack (Sweet Extra Chocolate Cookie) with their special drink (Hibicus and Lemonade) ice drinks (it was sweet, refreshing. Loved it very much, Friendly services. More spaces than during the Covid period, more relaxing and roomy!

Had my first visit to the flourist today! Recommended to me by a good friend, let me tell you this place did not disappoint! Welcomed with smiles from corner to corner, the vibe in here is nothing but stunning. Beyond that, as the self proclaimed gluten goddess, the bread and pastries were absolutely stunning. Had a baked good and an americano and will absolutely be coming back!

Where to even begin with the Flourist! This is a must visit spot for coffee, pastry, sourdough and community! The space is so beautiful, and the staff are incredible. Everyone is so educated on the food, and take the time to explain not only their own milling process (which you can view behind a beautiful glass wall), but also why they are so passionate about supporting Canadian farmers. The food is also unbelievable! I have tried everything on the menu, and have never been disappointed! They also offer an incredible sourdough making course, taught by Campbell, who is incredibly passionate and will inspire a love of making bread in anyone! I could not recommend this place enough!

So great to have people in the food industry actually caring about where our food comes from and it’s quality - I have used their flour numerous times and it’s amazing now to see them bringing finished baked goods to us too
Galettes! Yum! Sugar cookies for my daughter yum! Almond milk hot chocolate after an afternoon in the park. Heaven! Thanks flourist for bringing back quality to our tables -

I look forward to my weekly visit to the Flourist. The location of the establishment is fantastic, located in a quiet neighbourhood with tons of parking out front. As soon as you walk in, you know that your experience is going to be nothing but positive. The quality and care is not only visible in their humble-priced products, but also in every detail of the restaurant. This creates a relaxed and bright atmosphere, with happy staff that appear to enjoy their time there too. And finally, the food. The menu is simple, and anything you order is delicious. I know this is true because I've tried everything! My favourites include the strata, potato and cheese galette, and chocolate chip cookie slab. As for the bread, I would recommend the sourdough pan loaf! Thank you Flourist for creating such a wonderful space to enjoy good company and exquisite food. Keep it up!
03 January 2020 9:29
Extremely overpriced. How can you sell a SINGLE piece of toast for $8? It wasn't even that good. It certainly doesn't foster the kind of community that I want, since most people can't afford to eat there. I'll stick to the places that actually care about the community thanks.
02 January 2020 22:14
Obsessed with their food and bread! Sourdough is to die for, hummus is amazing and don't get me started on the galettes! Best place in town!

Recommended for work/studying or even hanging out with friends. Tasty vegetarian food. Kids friendly. Also sells grains and some other stuff!

Downside is location: not much public transit routes: (

Loved the bright, open-space concept. Coffee (Parallel 49 beans, I believe) was good as well. Baked goods and other food items, however, I have mixed feelings. Items I did try tasted fine, albeit unremarkable. While I am aware of the fact that they mill the grain in-house (you can literally see them milling while you are there), I am not certain the end product justifies its rather steep price.
17 December 2019 18:54
Amazing, quality baked goods with the most nostalgic aesthetic. Clean, comfy and cozy. My experience at the Flourist was truly flawless. From service to the food and coffee. No matter if you’re looking for a place to work or a lunch date, this is the atmosphere you need. I am currently located in FRANCE and the Flourist baguette and pastries are a competition in my eyes. Even the prices are incredible. The beans on toast and cinnamon toast transported me back to my kitchen table as a child!

Don’t hesitate and just go.
12 December 2019 11:33
Honestly, the most beautiful (and delicious) bakery I have ever seen. In addition to amazing sourdough, beautiful baked goods, and fresh milled flour, they also have the BEST lentils, beans and other grains. Do yourself a favour - head in for lunch (strata anyone? OR the pressed yogurt toast is to die for), load up on fresh grains for home, and take a crusty sourdough boule along. Wish there were more than 5 stars to give.

Let me start with a short conclusion at the beginning of the review.

This coffee shop is great except parking condition in the neighbourhood.

I came here to try their coffee and pastry because the rating was very high. It was a right decision to do so! I loved their latte and pastries such as cookies, brownie and buttermilk scone. The customers and I could clearly see all the food right at the glass transparent food shelves.

The most interesting part was the bread area at the front of the coffee shop. I went here a couple of time. They were serving bread samples of different type of bread, so I could try different bread with different flavours. All of them were great! There was a fridge that I or customers could buy a dough and bake the bread at home. Very cool!

The menu is not high but has plenty of options for beverages and food. They use Apple Pay too. Pretty good and convenient. Waiting for the coffee was fast.

One more special area was that I could see how they made the dough in a room with glass windows. The machine was made with wood. Very very cool that you may want to stand there and look at how a staff there makes the dough and bread.

The seating area was very comfortable and there was plenty of seats and tables. There was a long countertop table with magazines or books for people to read. Very good ideas! The owner of the coffee shop must hire an interior designer to design everything well in the coffee shop.

I love coming here for coffee and pastries or food. The only one thing that I didn’t like was looking for parking in the neighbourhood. The streets were full of cars. We had to park far away and walked to the coffee shop. If you were going to take a busy, probably this would be a better way to get to the coffee shop. There was a skytrain track near the neighbourhood but if you were going to take a skytrain, it was a long walk. I felt this coffee shop was more for the people who live in the neighbourhood.

I love knowing that when I eat at Flourist I am supporting local & domestic Canadian farmers. How cool is it that they also host pop-up local farmers markets at the bakery on weekends as well? !? Everything that comes out of their kitchen is delicious and their coffee is mighty fine, too!
19 November 2019 15:13
I've been a big fan of Flourist before the bakery opened and I'm so happy they finally have a bakery cafe! The space is beautiful, warm, inviting, and lovely with a retail section to buy their fresh grains and flours. The loaves are delicious and fresh with a beautiful sourdough aroma (and the pillowy pullman loaf is a hit with our daughter for her peanut butter sandwiches!) and their menu of toasts and grain salads are healthy and hearty. Thank you Flourist for bringing guilt-free healthy bread into our lives!

I give five stars for customer service and everything, i love this place and everyone is so super polite.i will come back again.

Wow - amazing biscuits with blueberry jam! Bought a multi grain loaf and it is the best I have had in Vancouver.grind their own grain, use specially grains and announce when the bread is coming out of the oven - so I got oven fresh bread! This place is the bomb - don’t hesitate to go!
05 November 2019 9:17
Stumbled on Flourist while heading to another coffee shop close by. What a great fall it was too.

Clean. Friendly. Plus they bake their own pastries and bread. They don’t serve drip coffee. So we had to settle for an Americano. Tried the daily special Plum and Spelt Cake. Very moist and had a good amount of plum on top. Will definitely be back.
01 November 2019 5:20
A little disappointing. I love that they are local and milling all different types of flour, but the bakery items are flavorless and dry. I have been there multiple times to try different things, hoping to give the benefit of the doubt, still not great. In addition the bakery items are extremely over priced.

Delicious snacks (really, so very delicious), great room and helpful staff. I am certain to be a regular!
26 October 2019 4:58
Great space, coffee and drinks. Shira gave us a great demo on feeding/maintaining sourdough starter. Excited to put it to practice!
23 October 2019 22:44
Loved the place! Feel so good spending time there! The menu offer something different than anywhere else! Really good with option for every one!
23 October 2019 17:35
Great cafe to chill out! Their coffee is great but to small to feel satisfied. Wish they had larger size latte/coffee.
08 October 2019 15:34
I may have ordered way more items than needed for our table, but it was way too hard to choose. And, we finished it all! The Cheese Dream and Beans on Toast were perfect and we took home the best sourdough boule in the city.
08 October 2019 12:30
Super cute with delicious bread & pastries. They have a good selection of drinks and price points too. You won't get bread like this nearly anywhere aside from Germany!
27 September 2019 23:01
This place goes above and beyond on so many levels. There's a mill in the bakery - it's so cool to see the process and the owners source their flour from Canadian farmers. The flour used in their baked goods is fresh and doesn't have any nasty chemicals in it. You really can taste the difference! If you haven't been yet GO! You won't regret it!
