Forêt Noire Café

I ordered a lavender latte and a Nutella croissant. Unfortunately, the lavender latte was underwhelming – it seemed more like a regular latte with some lavender sprinkle on the surface instead of using lavender syrup. The croissant was ok, but I was hoping they would offer to warm it up, so the Nutella center would be more of a lava effect rather than a solid, cold filling. Additionally, I observed a staff member drinking their iced coffee on the floor during their shift, dipping her fingers in her own drink, then touching the pastries.which raised concerns about their hygiene standards.nice atmosphere to chat but will probably won’t come back. Btw, the chairs were so dirty!

Love the atmosphere and service! I had the strawberry tart and I taste amazing! And the americano wow! I wish I had that coffee and tart every morning. Love it.

I got chocolate croissants in the morning since they are the freshest at that time. They were not at all like the ones they show on their website. Totally different and simple melted chocolate poured over half of the croissants.
I would never go back because apart from the misleading pictures of baked goods online and way too high prices, the taste and texture of croissant was no good.

Even the croissants from Costco taste really buttery and delicious. I’d rather pour chocolate on them myself. I am willing to pay high price for quality baked goods like shown on their website, not for this below average stuff.

The lady that works there was nice though.

I ordered a cake for my son’s 2 months old celebration and the employee at the bake shop basically dropped the cake into the box. The cake was clearly lopsided and the cream is showing cracks where it should be smooth. This is the second time I dealt with this person and we are not impressed. The cake is the best of its kind that we have tasted, but the experience with this employee is going to prevent us from going back.

Croissants are good but rating this cafe 1 star as they're not even open during their own business hours. Have gone twice to pick up orders only to find they are closed and locked up at 3: 45pm when their own site says closing is 5: 00pm.

Just okay. The regular butter croissant didn't really have much buttery taste and the pain au chocolate wasn't like the regular pain au chocolate that have chocolate inside. It was some kind of chocolate cream piping, like an eclair. Different I guess.

We ordered apple pie and almond croissant. The apple pie was pretty good with lots of fillings but the almond croissant was just normal, maybe we came near the end of day so it wasn't fresh enough. Prices are high for the quality, the shop is cute though.

Strawberry croissant is insanely sweet with a ton of jam. It wasn’t nice and I had to pull jam out of croissant. The caffee was ok, but nothing special. I was upset from this visit.

Ordered some cake slices (Mille Feuille, Exotic Flower, and Sacher) from here for the first time (via UberEats) and was thoroughly impressed. The cakes were delicious, unique-tasting, and beautifully crafted. You can tell they use fresh ingredients and their pastry chefs are skilled. Will eat there in person next time to try their drinks too. Their whole/custom cakes on their website also look exquisite; planning to order one for an upcoming birthday.

Stopped in for a cappuccino, nice coffee nice atmosphere, fine selection of sweets, will be back

Delicious and beautiful tiny desserts! They are like mini works of art. A great place to pick up some gourmet treats for a special occasion. The croissants and pastries are excellent too!

I would give them more than 5 start if there is an option. Great bakery. Fresh food, the white chocolate Pistachio, were amazing. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. We also got macaroon tested fantastic. We will be back for sure.

Amazing strawberry croissant! The ice cream was silky and rich. This place is definitely worth visiting if your looking for something special.

My first visit at Forêt Noire. On this light snow falling afternoon, I dropped by to this unique cafe to have some Me time. Instead of having their signature Black Forest, I ordered London Fog. Love its frothy and smooth texture, with little mild sweet, just made my day.

Ordered the 8” Black Forest cake and an individual Broadway (for a person that’s not a fan of cherries) and they were both a huge hit! A Broadway birthday cake has been requested….

French perfection in the heart of Vancouver. Superb quality French pastries including the best croissants you are likely to ever find. Try their Breton Cakes, you won’t likely see them anywhere else in Vancouver, Very pleasant experience, professional and friendly staff. A bit more $ than Starbucks but you get what you pay for.

Best cakes I have eaten in Vancouver! I ordered my Christmas dessert from this bakery and it surely did not disappoint. The Black Forest cake was so beautifully decorated and the taste was excellent. We also enjoyed the Santa Strawberry cake.it was amazing as well. My guests were very impressed and we all will be ordering from this bakery again. Thank you Foret Noir Bakery for making our Christmas dinner so special!

First and last experience here. Cake was stale. The bamboo chocolate cake costed $10.99 and was stale on the edges which was shocking cause you would expect better cake if it was that expensive for such a small slice! Their matcha powder didn't taste like authentic matcha either. More like processed matcha I also didn't enjoy their cappuccino cause it was super watered down. Tasted like hot water with a bit of milk foam. We asked for dark roast too. What a disappointment

P.s. They never screened us for vaccinations when we sat down (I guess you don't have to when you're dining in? Not sure.) But they should at least have cleaned the tables. There were leftovers all over the tables and crumbs all over the floors.

Absolutely overpriced! Comparing with the out cake shop nearby. They are selling $10 CAD per cake with supermarket quality. I would like to use it to compare with those Costco cake.

Disappointed! I ordered a cake through their online system for my daughter’s birthday. I asked for a very straightforward personalization. Happy birthday and my daughter’s name. I typed it out in the online order form so it’s all black and white. But somehow they still got it wrong! My daughter’s name is Chloe, the way that name is normally spelt. Somehow they spelt her name Chole. I thought this was an upscale patisserie. How can they get the most basic and important thing wrong! Not to mention, they charged an extra fee for that personalization. Also, seeing as “Foret Noire” is French, you would think they would be able to spell a French name properly. The reason I bought a cake for over $60 from this patisserie was because I wanted a beautiful cake for her birthday so we can take beautiful instagram worthy pictures. Now, all the pictures we took with my daughter’s birthday cake has the wrong name! It will be an eyesore forever! We didn’t see the cake until we took the cake out just before we are ready to eat it so of course, it was way too late to get it fixed! Also, the actual cake doesn’t look the same as picture on their website! The actual cake looks like an ordinary cake with some cream piped on top where as their picture actually looks like a flower like the name of the cake. The cake also taste quite mediocre. It was quite tart and that kind of overpowered everything else.

Everything I've tried here is excellent. They are offering hot breakfast on weekends and it's definitely worth a try. The one I got had sausage, omelet, 2 slices of bread, roasted tomato, and potatoes. Flavors were on point. I also got some pastries and cakes for take out. We tried the exotic flower, opera and bamboo. Loved the flavors for all of them. Will definitely try more when I am in the area.
The place is chill and staff is very helpful. Chef even took the time to explain the cakes to me as I was looking for something that has more sponge component.
Come check out this place. You won't regret it.

Pastries are delicious, both the manager and front desk are wonderful, and prices are reasonable for the quality ($3.50-6)! Great option for Christmas gifts or hosting gifts with the beautiful packaging.

It’s French patisserie but very similar to Japanese patisserie. The strawberry genoise is really good, tasted like sweet version of Japanese style vanilla cake (short cake). The chocolate bamboo was also good it’s something like matcha opera cake. Both cakes are really good and I’d love to come back soon for other cakes.

Delicious choices especially their elegant chocolates. The good thing is they bake everything fresh. I had a cappuccino it was pretty decent.

Really tasty desserts, but very expensive. I paid over 30 dollars (without tip!) For 2 small desserts and a small cappuccino.

Some of their items are a bit too sweet. But in general the quality and price is on the standard. Their items are also photogenic, good for IG.

Beautiful interior, cakes and cookies are average taste and quality but customer service is very bad!
They also advertise buy one coffee get a second one free, but charged me for 4 coffees without saying anything and on top of the cakes we also had there! I noticed only after we left! Not the best way to keep a customer!

Always delicious desserts to get there. The lady that is there is always willing to help you to choose the best one and to explain the ingredients.

Service is so so so slow every time. Always short staffed. Pastries and cakes are delicious.

I have reduced a star since the small cakes cost over $10 now! In the pics, i can see that they were around $7 just a couple years ago.
My my would never pay that much for such a small piece of cake especially when it’s mostly take-out.

I tried this for the first time while visiting Vancouver. When I went there, it was close to evening and not many individual cake options were there, so I tried these three: broadway, versace and praline to share with my kids as the other options had coffee in the ingredients. I am not a dark chocolate person, so I didn’t like broadway much though it seems very popular. Praline was little too sweet for me. We liked versace most, it was perfectly sweetened, melted in the mouth and the look was so soothing. I am hoping to try the other varieties when I am in Vancouver again.

Exotic fruit tart was everything I wanted it to be.worth the 1 hour walk to get it.
But it is pricey: $11.35 for the tart.

Beginning the day with something sweet

I’m always excited when I visit a bakery full of treats and cakes. Forêt Noire Pâtisserie is modern version of a French Patisserie. They have very unique creations and offer many seasonal treats that take advantage of what nature offers

The interior is very eye catching and puts your senses in excitement as you see the display of desserts. Here’s what I tried:

Strawberry tart
Misteri
Exotic Flower

I was there later in the day, so the selections were limited due to what was remaining. Amazingly, all their desserts are winners and you can’t go wrong with any of their choices. Each is beautifully crafted and have their unique flavours.

The Exotic Flower was one of my favourites. It’s made with mango mousse, praline feuilletine, coconut dacquoise, fresh mangoes, while chocolate chantilly, and passion fruit cremeux. I just love the refreshing and citrusy flavours from the mangoes and passion fruit. This is my perfect taste of the summer

The Misteri was another lovely creation with cherry compote, lychee cremeux, and barries blossom tea mousse. I appreciate the very smooth textures and complexity of the flavours that blended harmoniously. The strawberry tart is a must for the berry lovers. The fresh strawberries were complimented by a nice crunchy texture from the pistachios. The tart shell was buttery with the right amount of firmness

Overall, @foretnoirepatiserrie offers an excellent selection of desserts with great creativity and high quality ingredients! I would recommend their cold Spanish latte to go with all these scrumptious cakes and desserts.

Super special cakes here. Their signature black forest is like none you've ever had before. It's not sweet but it's got a deep richness to it. Try it if you want to experience a more sophisticated black forêt flavour.

Lady at the counter is super nice and knowledgeable! The price is worth it for a good quality patisserie! I am a new fan.

Allow me to explain.

I have been a loyal customer of Foret Noire for years and have enjoyed buying their cakes for my friends and family's birthdays and other celebrations.

Just the other week I was there buying a birthday cake for my mom and I noticed a box of European cookies. I was super excited because growing up, my brother loved the European Cookie set from Costco and I thought it would be the perfect gift to get him a nice box from Foret Noire since we both love (d) the bakery. I left Foret Noire that day very excited that I had a great cake for my mom's birthday and the perfect Christmas gift for my brother. I was also very excited to support a local business, especially during this time of hardship given the pandemic.

To my complete surprise, after giving the gift to my brother on Christmas, he also had a box from Costco and to our complete surprise. THEY WERE EXACTLY THE SAME (See photos below!). Except I had just paid 2x the amount for the Costco cookies at Foret Noire and the Costco box has more cookie selection and 2 layers (a.k. A.a lot more cookies). Again see photos for reference. I went from being excited about giving the perfect gift to being the laughing stock of my family.

I emailed Foret Noire a very cordial message explaining the situation as well as my surprise and disappointment. I did not demand anything in return, but was hoping that they would offer something to rectify the situation but alas there response can be summed up to "we are allowed to resale cookies at a higher price if we want to, and we did not mention that those cookies were made by our bakery. "

They are a bakery. The box of cookies has "Foret Noire" on it. I don't think it was too much to assume that the baked goods they were selling were from their own bakery.

All in all, their cakes are delicious, but this experience and their customer service are extremely distasteful. I am disappointed and embarrassed. I will not be returning to this bakery, nor will any of my friends and family. They clearly do not seem to value their loyal customers or their experiences with their products.

If you want to buy cookies here, go to Costco instead. You will save money and get way more cookies. And hopefully you will not be disappointed like me.

Note: I was very hesitant to write this review as I do not like leaving businesses bad reviews but I was encouraged by my friends and family since many of them mentioned that I got scammed by this bakery or ripped off and they feel it's really not right for the bakery to do this to customers.

Saw your response. Please see the other most recent reviews. Other customers are not happy with this either, and they also feel they are being ripped off or scammed. You clearly do not value your customers or their feedback.

The pasteries were delicious and the staff was really plesant and nice. However, the London Fog lacks flavor and was overly sweetened with syrup.

Beautiful decor and lots of pastries including dates filled with almonds, a childhood favorite of mine! Unfortunately when I visited there because of the pandemic, sitting was not allowed but I so wanted to stay there for a while. Didn’t try their coffee but hope to be back again to try their lattes with fresh pastries again. Good service and pleasant people!

Beautiful desserts with flavours and textures to match. Service feels respectful towards the customer and the desserts. Additionally their coffee is quality and no matter the size it never goes unfinished.

Overall I had an excellent experience ordering from Foret Noire patisserie. From the fresh pastry’s to the savoury sandwiches I would rate my experience at this patisserie a 10/10. Would highly recommend be sure to check this spot out!

My girlfriend loves this place, so I keep buying from here. They have great macaroons!
They can maybe hire one or more staff to help, because when the owner is alone, it takes some time to grab some macaroons and go. But that's because she takes time to make sure your box and decoration look great.
I really love the inside decorations. Macaroons are amazing!

First time here to pick up a pre-ordered cake. One customer before me who seemed like he waited a long time for his order to be ready as well.turns out he was waiting for a cake to be put in a box that was not tall enough for that cake.customer had to come back later that day to pick it up. I ended up waiting 10 minutes before someone could help me get my pre-ordered cake. Staff seems unorganized and all over the place when I was there. My cake was not prepared and ready for pick up (which is what usually happens at other patisseries) still needed the personal message to be put on the cake.not sure if i will be returning here in the future. Cake overall was okay, didn't seem too special.
