Wanting to impress your friends and loved ones on your annual camping trip with your hand-made, one of a kind and personally forged fire poker? Look no further!

Incredible experience. Went here as part of a bachelor party and had tons of fun (and a good workout). The instructors were very professional and courteous. A no BS approach is always a welcome one.

You likely wont make a sword in a day but boy did we learn how much hard work goes into forging something seemingly so simple.

My only advice is to empty your mind of expectations and you'll learn quickly.

Thank you Fraser River Forge!

I had Fraser River Forge repair broken welds on an air conditioning compressor stand that I bought. Josh Hooge the owner was a pleasure to deal with. He had his blacksmith/welder replace the welds - he did a great welding job - the stand is far better than it was as purchased. And the cost was very reasonable.

I took the 8hr Introductory class and I loved the experience. Roy and Joshua are warm and knowledgeable. They skillfully ease newcomers into this fascinating trade. I strongly recommend to anyone who is curious about trying it out to just go for it.

I really, really enjoyed attending the intro to blacksmithing course here. I went in March 2022. The two teachers were helpful and did a great job balancing different skill sets and desires. It was a great learning experience, a very full day, and I was very happy with the whole experience. 10/10 and I'm planning to do it again

Great Experience!
Josh and Ray are patient, knowledgable and experienced instructors.
They teach how to do things properly rather than 'good enough'.
If you want to learn this unique trade, even just as a hobby or if you want to try something new, this is the the place to do it.

Fraser River Forge did a beautiful set of custom pieces for me from an old piece of equipment. Joshua was lovely to deal with, created exactly what I had envisioned, and also dropped them off to my home as soon as they were finished. The pieces were given as a gift and were very well received.

It was a true joy to learn here at this forge. All of the people there we very kind and helpful. They taught at a very good pace and always helped you on what you were doing. Despite going in with no experience or knowledge about Blacksmithing I never once felt over my head and came out feeling like I’ve learned a fair bit. It definitely feels like the true experience of Blacksmithing.

I took the intro to blacksmithing class without any experience, I wanted to see for myself what forging was like, and what skills I can learn.

I knew going in that blacksmithing was a trade of its own, but all the small minute details, techniques, timing, and passion that both instructors demonstrated made it look like art.

What made taking the class enjoyable wasn't just the fact its blacksmithing, but the passion and knowledge the instructors demonstrated.

I know I'll be coming back for more classes to see what other skills I can learn.

Taking the course at Fraser River Forge was an amazing experience. I highly recommend for anyone interested in blacksmithing to learn here. The teaching accepts of both instructors is right on point and you learn in the correct way things should be done. I will be taking other classes in the future.

Thoroughly enjoyed the "introduction to blacksmithing" course offered here this past weekend. Both of the blacksmiths are very knowledgeable and friendly, they do a great job of showing and teaching without taking over- whatever you end up making is all your work, and you can take it home after. Would highly recommend this forge and course to anyone interested in blacksmithing.

My son and I took the 8 hour introductory course and it was a wise choice. We both enjoyed the course and really appreciated
learning the correct tool handling and methodology of beginner Blacksmithing. Although we both had many years of mechanical and hot works experience the correct technics used in forging is totally different. Looking forward to the next level. Thanks to “Fraser River Forge Team”

Roy and Josh are extremely knowledgeable in their craft. We have been coming to them for custom fabrication work and have always left 100% satisfied. Their attention to detail and ability to fabricate complex pieces in a timely manner has made us repeat customers.

I took lessons at this forge and would happily come back. The smithy itself is very well laid out with a remarkable variety of tools. Although they only have four forges, the limited amount of people who can be taught at a time (around 8 according to their website) allows for a more in depth and focused attention from the instructor and others that may be there. Very good teachers, Roy and Joshua (Roy's apprentice) allow for a very malleable teaching schedule. They teach the basics, and when you think you can do it well, they move you on. You can learn at your own pace and learn what YOU want to learn. At the beginning of the course, before anything else, Joshua took measurements of my hand and my height, using this to give me a hammer and anvil that suited me. I had no problems with my back or hands for the entire 8 hour day. It was incredibly fun and I learned more than I ever would have from YouTube or anywhere else. I highly recommend Fraser River Forge for all lessons and courses. If I could give a higher rating I would!

I came here for a class (Intro into Blacksmithing) to give it a shot after watching all those youtube people smithing. Josh and Roy were very knowledgeable and patient, especially with someone like me who has had little to no trades experience.

For those of you like me be aware, it can be physically taxing. I was still sore a few days after, but it's incredibly rewarding and I recommend it for anyone who wants to give it a try

Went there with a group with no experience. We all had a great time and learned a ton about the history of the craft. Very talented Blacksmiths as well. Totally recommending this to anyone interested! Much more challenging than you may think!

The idea of trying blacksmithing has been kicking around my head for a while. After searching on-line, I decided on Fraser River Forge, central, easy to access location. I took their Saturday intro class and, let me tell you, I could not have made a better choice. Roy and Josh are great guys, knowledgeable, patient, and passionate about their craft. The shop setup is amazing. The class and instructions are all about you, the student, no pressure, no rush, learning process at your own pace. Blacksmithing is an incredibly immersing experience.if you want to take your mind of your everyday whatever it might be, you must give it a try. I will be going back for more.

I had a piece of farm equipment that was unusable. A young bull had bent it out of shape. I brought it in to Roy, and he had it fixed on the spot. Roy and Josh were friendly and professional. They hammered, bent, and welded. They added new parts, and greased and lubed things that had dried out over the years. They identified mistakes the previous owner had made when repairing the squeeze, and they fixed it. I saw them do things to metal I didn't think could be done. When they were finished two hours later, my cow squeeze was better than when I bought it. And their shop rates were very reasonable. Saved a lot of money by having a pro fix the item instead of having to buy a new one. Josh and Roy don't just know how to work metal; they understand mechanical design. And this makes all the difference to getting the job done right.

Great place and fast.
I would highly recommend them!

I went in on short notice to purchase my father a new anvil and I was curious to look around. Not only did Roy and Josh help me find an anvil tailored to my needs but they offered up knowledge and expertise of the craft freely with real hands on techniques. Beautifully maintained shop, will definitely be returning to enrol in the courses for the future for me and my father. Highly recommended to anyone who has a true desire to learn the craft.
