Freedom Bike Rentals & Repairs

Great bikes, nicely tuned and working flawlessly. But the minus one star is for the store attendant not wanting (or not being allowed) to be helpful. When we picked up the bikes, we asked the store attendant if the handlebars could be adjusted to make one of the bikes more comfortable. For whatever reason he simply said that he couldn’t or that he wasn’t allowed to (by whom?) and refused to make an easy adjustment that would have made a big difference. It would have taken literally 15 seconds (only loosening one bolt with a hex key, pivoting the handlebars a couple inches back and retightening the bolt). That’s what these adjustable stems are designed for - easy adjustment! I get that they don’t want to start messing around with gears and brakes, but this adjustment couldn’t have been easier. No more difficult than adjusting the seat height. This left a bad taste that they simply didn’t want to be helpful, even though this may have been mandated by the owner of the shop (in which case, this person needs to use common sense and let his staff be helpful in situations like this). Unfortunate because otherwise, the bikes were in great shape and worked perfectly during a wonderful half-day ride around Stanley park.

The best option for being tax free and the best bikes. Paolo really gave us excellent service!

The tour guide was amazing. Brought us to great spots in Stanley Park and gave detailed and funny history talks at each stop point. She showed us a secret spot in Stanley park that blew my mind. Felt like I walked into another world, looked much different from the rest of the park. Best tour guide I’ve ever had, she was super pleasant to be around. Highly recommend this place, especially if you are touring and want to learn some cool/funny history behind the park

I've rented a bike here 7 or 8 times and i've never been disappointed. The staff are super friendly and the prices are fair! Highly recommend. The bikes have always been well maintained.

Rented 4 bikes here for Stanley Park. Cheap rates, good customer service, bikes were good quality and easy to ride. Rent here if you want to bike the seawall.

This guy is the man. He makes this place feel like a neighborhood bike shop. He’ll fix anything and help you any way he can. This is my go to spot.

This small shop was perfect for my needs and my bike was perfect for a city tour (waterfront, Stanley park, English Bay, city beaches). Helmet, loud bell, basket, bike path maps, recommended tours, personal breakdown service, and bike seats for all sizes…what else could you want? And you get more value for your money in comparison to the others along the street.

For the average price of a hamburger and fries, why not pack a sandwich in your bag and go for a beautiful bike ride instead? Freedom Bikes gave me a day of wonderful memories that I will cherish for the years to come. Renting a bike is a simple, cost-effective way to build great relationships and experiences. Although I am from Vancouver, many places I discovered during my bike adventure were new to me - there are many places in the city that are linked only through bike trails.

Conveniently located just steps from Stanley Park, we had a great day cycling around the famous seawall, then over to False Creek and Science world, all without being in street traffic. The bike was perfect – trustworthy, lightweight and balanced for the whole day. The rental included a bike, helmet and a lock.

I have some mobility limitations, so getting on and off a bike can be challenging for me. Respectfully, the staff recognized this and guided me to a bike that was ideal for my needs. I felt free, safe and at ease. I had a wonderful day thanks to Freedom Bikes. The rental process was straightforward - it took less than 5 minutes to select a bike and sail out the door. Thank you very much to the wonderful staff and team for this great business that provides fun and joy to everyone here in Vancouver. I will be back!:)

Was skeptical about all the 5 star reviews but rented from them today and it was so easy. No hidden fees. In and out quickly. Bikes were in great condition. Got locks, helmets and baskets free with rental. There are literally 4 other rental places right next to each other. Glad I went with Freedom.

Great experience! Loved that I did not have to decide how long I wanted to rent the bike. Just checked it out and paid a reasonable rate, based on how long I kept it. Helmet, bike locks, and baskets were included in the reasonable price. I’d rent here again!

No need to book ahead. We walked in, on a busy Saturday morning, and were outfitted with bikes, helmets and locks and on our way within 8 minutes. An hour and a half for 2 bikes cost us $22. Great place!

Amazing service! Not only fixed my flat tire but re-bolted my dog cart bracket to protect it from flying off. Topped up air in other tire. Efficient, friendly, super helpful and great value. Loyal customer now for life!

Great experience with this company. Friendly service, with good rates for bike rentals, including helmets and locks. Staff even went as far as to give my wife some elastic bands to roll up her white trousers to minimise staining from the chain!

I could not recommend freedom highly enough if you are looking to cycle Stanley park. I went with a group of friends to rent bikes and felt very well looked after. Arsim and takumi were a great help and a good laugh. The bikes were in perfect condition and were great value. 10/10

We've rented bikes at this shop during our visit in Vancouver. The bikes were great serviced, nice and smooth ride around the sea wall! As a cycling fan I really appreciated nice selection of Specialized bikes and accessories available in the shop. Friendly staff and really experienced owner/mechanic Arsim.

If I were renting bikes in Vancouver I would go nowhere else. This shop offers a service with such intent and commitment that I have never seen elsewhere.

Over the summer I worked in this bike shop and found that each day flew by. Best prices to rent bikes and ride along the Stanley park. The owner is Albanian, very friendly and careful person. They take your credit card information and destroy it for you after returning the bikes. Extremely satisfied with their service.

There are bike rental services all over the place but I’d recommend going here. Multiple reasons 1) super friendly nice people 2) nice bikes 3) great customer service - we rented from another place and got a flat tire which meant we had to walk the bike back on their $. Freedom will come to you and fix the tire 4) it’s owned by a bike mechanic so I expect the bikes to stay well tuned. 5) price is very reasonable. The owner is passionate about running a quality business and it shows.

With family visiting from out of town, I needed to rent bikes for them to use so we could go for a ride together. With extended hours, great rates, and excellent bicycles, Freedom Bikes was the perfect choice! The owner and all of the staff are so warm, attentive and accommodating. We had a great experience here and a fantastic bike ride as a result.

Bikes are brand new and sizes for everyone even me (6'1), the place also has great service with experienced mechanics. From a price stand point it was the best in town at around $7 an hour, so if you need a bike for Vancouver go here.

Arsim, the owner of the Freedom bike shop and his girlfriend were the most coolest friendliest that gave me and my other two friends beyond satisfactory yesterday when we rented at 730 PM, biking stanley park then we returned before 9: 00 PM closing in shop, one of my friend got lost of trail track in Stanley park and arrived 35 minutes late with injured from fall down his bike, they were the most amazing and super kind with warm heart when they offered prep first aid bandages to stop my friends from bleeding, afterward we ended up stay longer enjoys chatted with Arsim about our lifestyle and his hard working experiences in 28 years mechanic in Europe and opening his bike shop in Vancouver 5 weeks ago, IMPRESSIVE! Brand new bikes are amazing. Don’t choose any other rental shop this is perfect location right by near Stanley park, excellent price and service are perfect, more importantly the owner and staff were perfect, good communication and taught Arsim some America sign language =) We are definitely coming back for your service again when we are in vancouver, you are my go to guy! The owner Arsim is an excellent mechanic and a great guy! Him and his staff will make sure your bike is safe, works well, and fits comfortably.

Very good customer service. When I loose he chain and can’t fix it, they can come and help immediately or charge me less if I can only walk my way back. Very reasonable shop.

The bikes are in excellent condition and the price is the lowest one can find in downtown Vancouver. It is one of those bike shops that do not charge you extra if you are 5-10 mins late. Arsim personally meets every guest and suggests a bike based on your requirements.

They also provide complimentary helmets, bike locks (great if you want to relax on the beach or need to visit the loo) and baskets. I have tried renting from 3 other places in the area and Freedom is definitely my pick of the lot!

You are not going to get better service in a bike shop in Vancouver. Arsim is an excellent mechanic that takes care of every detail. This place is the place to rent a bike that is not going to fall apart.

Arsim, the owner of the shop, is extremely kind and will go above and beyond to satisfy his customers. Yesterday, I came to him with an unorthodox request yesterday and it was an absolute pleasure dealing with him. I'd highly recommend renting bikes from his shop because of his service and attention to detail. It's also cheaper than spokes.

The owner Arsim is AMAZING!
My boyfriend and I were traveling to Europe Monday morning and realised Sunday that a very important piece for traveling with our bikes was no longer in our bike bags. We scrambled around downtown Vancouver trying to find what we needed. After visiting 4 other bike shops with no success, another store referred us to him as "the best bike mechanic in town". And they weren't wrong. He was so friendly and had exactly what we needed:) Without a doubt we would recommend this shop!

Awesome bikes, great customer service! I actually don’t ever enjoy bike rides due to anxiety, being fairly indoorsy, and bad past experiences on bikes, but the bike I chose was both comfortable and very easy to ride, and I made it roughly three hours without incident! I would definitely recommend this place and ride again. It gave me hope that maybe I just have ridden cheap/old bikes in my past that have lead to poor experiences.
