Worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. It was my first time in the store so I purchased a variety of snacks and food. I asked the cashier lady if I could get one more soy sauce packet as one of my prawn sushi sandwich didn’t have any, and she said it was 10 cents in an annoyed fashion. I couldn’t believe it. How cheap and stingy can a place be? First and last time there. Please be more generous and kind with your customers.

Without any discussions, the best Japanese superstore. This store have been a lifeline to my Japanese meals and needs in Canada.

Favorite store in Vancouver for buying Sushi products. Primarily take out. Great selection for Lunch snacks or single Dinner servings. It also sells Japanese/Asian food products.

Amazing selection of products from Japan. Will be able to find most if not all types of cooking ingredients to make the most delicious food.

Their prepared food is always a delight and a quick, easy, and great deal for lunch! For me, the best cost to food ratio in Vancouver

Good Japanese grocer with all your essential Japanese items and fresh daily in store made food as well. Recommend.

Great place to grab lunch to go. Lots of sushi, sashimi, rice bowls, salads, drinks, soup, curry & dessert choices. Fresh fish market inside as well. Always busy at lunch. Lineups out the door. Limited parking. Best time to go is between 11AM-1PM, as the choices dwindle down after that time.
19 December 2021 23:33
This is one of the few places in metro Vancouver who sells "drip coffee"! They have many choices on drip coffees as well.
03 December 2021 18:14
Forever love this place. Everything is fairly priced and I never feel like they cheat me. Staff are also very kind. I love the negitoro hand rolls. I get so sad when it's sold out! They only make it in the morning: (

No frills sushi and good value. Not the absolute best but not shabby by any stretch. Just good value sushi prepared from a Japanese run company. Very interesting selection of grocery items too. Come here and knock yourself out! I do. I recommend this place.

What a great place, great store. Best place to grab nice fresh take out sushi. Terrific Miso. Picked up some interesting pocky and dark chocolate kit Kat from Japan.

Some hard to find Japanese food items can be found here. There are also store cooked items that you can take home as a meal or to augment your meal with some side dishes.
24 October 2021 9:14
Love this place. Great sushi and Japanese style groceries. Friendly staff and reasonable prices.
10 October 2021 9:18
Sushi grade ikura, octopus and fish. Excellent selection of miso, shoyu and other Japanese accoutrements.
15 August 2021 23:28
A lot of choices there. Food fresh & also good prices. Honestly to say, i only buy shshi & sashimi there. Because of confidence on them.

Who doesn't love Fujiya for the great selection of japanese food staples - and of course the variety of fresh take-out sushi and all. How on earth is the take-out so cheap! And so good!
27 July 2021 9:33
The variety of specialized goods is better than most. However, prices are a few dollars (!) more expensive than at another store. The same brand instant coffee I can buy for $6.49 is over $9. Same brand sesame dressing at another store for $10 is $13+ here. Sushi was good, slightly more expensive than at a take out restaurant. I would not shop here again unless the product is not available anywhere else. Covid markup? Who knows.
22 July 2021 13:03
Fujiya has everything Japanese-that you can eat, that is. It's amazing that they have packed that much stuff into a fairly small space. Everything from sukiyaki beef to panko, and a good variety of brands. If you want to dine in the Land of the Rising Sun, this is the next best thing, and you can do it at home!

Disappointing compare to what they once was, found rotten avocados in my California rolls, their standard was alot higher when I went to school around there
11 March 2021 20:21
Clean establishment, friendly staff, and covid protocols in place. Authentic Japanese supermarket, great inhouse sushi, plenty of variety (come early for selection). Parking in the back or street.
27 January 2021 11:27
Good selection of products but sushi is okay. A lot of high schoolers making them, so can't expect much. Perhaps the quality of fish of the sushi isn't on par as some other places.

Fujiya is the best spot for pre-made japanese sushi, and other dishes. They even have a "deli" section for cold pre-made items like fishcakes, wakame salad, sweet and sour chicken. This is the spot to come if you're looking for Japanese condiments.
31 May 2019 10:32
Decent sushi, but almost the same price as a restaurant. But their $2.95 California Roll is one of the best deals. I always buy more than a couple when it's available. It's got a decent grocery.
29 May 2019 11:23
Their food forms the building blocks of my body. I scavenge as much green tea and sour plums as my arms can carry. Wonderful business.
22 May 2019 1:39
Excellent selection of Japanese food products and fresh takeout options. On a more recent visit, I was not impressed with their ready-to-go food, maki in particular. I can understand that rolls need to be prepared - and eaten - fresh; however, the spicy dynamite and negitoro rolls were obviously prepared much earlier, they were dry and lame. For a combined total over $11, my advice is: unless you are 100% your take -out is freshly made, avoid at all cost! Meaning, don't buy after 2-3 pm. For that price, a better option is to go to one of the Japanese restaurants in the area (Kishimoto?), and have your food served to you, at your table, FRESH!
21 May 2019 19:10
Classic bait and switch. There's never any $2.95 California rolls so you end up buying what's available The other rolls cost the same as at a restaurant but for a lower quality.
09 May 2019 3:20
Can get whatever Japanese products you need. Expensive but understood. Friendly and they give ice packs for your meats
28 April 2019 23:52
A little bubble of Japan. A reminder of the old days when there was an actual Japan town not far away.
25 April 2019 3:22
When I first started eating sushi it was at the Fujiya in Victoria. The quality was good and the prices were fantastic. It has gotten a lot more expensive and the quality is not as high now. I gave it another try after avoiding it for a couple of years and it is definitely below average quality/value.
20 April 2019 13:46
Fast on the go sushi.its quick and convenient all at a decent price.not super cheap but an average price. Recommended if you're on the go and need something quick.
19 April 2019 7:32
I love this place! Sushi is inexpensive and delicious! It's a little world of it's own.service is fast and they have all the Asian knick knacks! I would love this place to carry coconut water in jugs if I had one complaint.
17 April 2019 6:54
Best (and probably the *only*) Japanese market in town! And if you work in the area, $3.00 California rolls! But the only thing is, 1 is never enough, and 2 is TOO much. You have been warned!
14 April 2019 12:02
While the groceries are great, I give only 2 stars because of the lost potential. The ready made bento and sushi is amazing, as are the groceries.

But the store layout is awful. What's with the gross and dirty entrance, with the weird cafeteria seating and garbage everywhere?

There's an abandoned pharmacy with sun bleached posters from decades past. Boxes of groceries unpacked at the front. And a dusty staircase to what looks like a haunted second floor.

Fujiya sells the best bento boxes and then asks people to sit in a garbage pit, with uncleaned tables stained with soy sauce and rice on the floor. Just entering and exiting the store is kind of surreal. Like stepping back in time.

It's time to modernize.
12 April 2019 8:49
Fujiya is amazing. It's still one of the few places I trust for sashimi grade salmon and tuna. They carry a lot of other Japanese products that may usually be hard to find. They also sell good quality sushi packs which become discounted near the end of the day and their staff is always so friendly
05 April 2019 6:50
They sell variety of sushi here. It is always fresh as it's always sold out at the end of the day. The selection of grocery here is adequate, but there are many shops (ie. Korean grocery shops) in town offer much more selection than this place. In addition, same items at other shops may be cheaper at other shops.
03 April 2019 12:10
Great selection of Japanese foods and condiments and excellent place for a to go lunch or picnic foods for upcoming summer. And reasonably priced too!
03 April 2019 2:45
If you need ingredients or foods from Japan, this is your stop. There is a good selection here to be sure, a reasonable price (for imports), and of course, the service is second to none.
01 April 2019 19:11
Was looking for a Japanese grocery that carried sashimi grade salmon and tuna and they did not disappoint. High quality and fresh fish. Price is a little high but when dealing with raw fish quality is very important. They have an interesting Japanese deli and dry goods section as well. Don't go late in the day if you need a good selection of fish
09 March 2019 18:42
This is a Japanese foods grocery store with a fantastic deli. Huge selection of fresh, frozen and dried imported foods from Japan and good prices. The deli has an impressive array of take out foods. This place is well known by locals as a place to grab a quick take out lunch. I've been known to select a few trays of sushi and other delights from the deli on the way home for a quick and easy family dinner. A microwave is on site and there are a few small tables which allow for eating in but it can get crowded.
02 March 2019 0:23
Cant do all the groceries here but super for specialty Japanese. Take away sushi and curry are great.
01 March 2019 10:32
I have been a regular customer for more than five years buying lunch and my groceries here but recently the customer service has been terrible. The guy at the fish counter today was friendly towards a Japanese person and when it's finally my turn, he had no smile, no greeting, slam on the promotion paper to show me which one is "horse mackerel" instead of pine mackerel, seems very annoyed serving people who don't speak Japanese. I returned the fish at the cashier because I don't want to give my business to Fujiya anymore. If it's not for any specific food that we can't get from T&T, I would not pay for the overpriced product and the shockingly rude Japanese service.

Great Japanese groceries store with fish and food. It's a place to find all ingredients for homemade takoyaki, oden, curry, etc. Highly recommended the curry on rice, served hot and delicious!
