Fukasaku of Prince Rupert

The best sushi around! Even better than what I’ve had in Japan. Dai is such an incredible chef. Would highly recommend!

Good Japanese food, something different from other janapese around town. It's a little pricey, but your date will be happy with what it served. View will get one extra star.

The best option in Prince Rupert to get fresh seafood in a Japanese style. I recommend the chef's tasting menu.

You will need a reservation to go here. I originally wanted to take my partner here on a Thursday and they didn't had space until Saturday so I would recommend getting your reservation with plenty of time in advance. The sashimi was amazing, fresh and beautifully plate. We also ordered rolls and tea and everything was really good and we were pretty happy with the overall experience.

Had the tasting menu at fukasaku, which was 5 courses + dessert.
1.tuna tataki salad: delicious sauce with marinated tuna
2.appy with skeena smoked salmon potato salad, beet and salmon gomae, and sunomono: this was my fav! The sunomono was not too sour, and the smoked salmon blended perfectly with the potato.
3.northwest ramen with tuna, striped prawns, spot prawn head, spinach, and egg: the broth on this was so tasty and refreshing, i just wish it came with a little bit more broth since the noodles soaked it up pretty quickly
4.pan fried prawn: enjoyed the simplicity of the dish.the prawns were perfectly salted.
5.sushi platter: the nigiri and sashimi were super fresh and all locally caught. It was my first time trying a dungeness crab roll and it was delicious. I will say that this is the 3rd dish in a row with prawn, which was getting a little repetitive
6.ginger spruce creme brûlée: amazing!

Great food! Love the Ramen and green tea for lunch. Sushi is premium! No fake fish or food coloring going on here! Thanks for offering Rupert a healthy choice Dai!

Best seafood in town, and best sushi I’ve had in a long time. Small restaurant so reservations are required, but the best food you’ll eat in PR by far (so long you like fish!)

Friend recommended this place and did it never disappoint. Especially doing the chef’s choice. Which will be a 5-7 course meal. All the flavours complimented each other. Plus the presentation of each dish was immaculately prepared.

We really enjoyed the food. Even the wasabi and pickled ginger were made in-house. Everything was very good. It all felt authentic.

Came here on the first day I visited prince rupert. The food was terrific, need a reservation to eat there though. It's nice and can have a good view of the ocean.

They posted a sign at the door of it. The restaurant was sold out, they had no room for walkin. It was short of them telling you go away. Lol. The storenot very well stocked. UnlessThey had a very busy day of passengers from the cruise ship, they did have an assortment of fish and etc.in the frozen section. I really can’t so much because I didn’t get to experience much.

Amazing experience. Multiple locals recommended fukasaku and the hype was definitely accurate. Amazing new combinations, a variety of options (including a course meal where everything is selected for you) and lovely staff. They had all local products and a variety of BC drinks to choose from and cooking products to purchase after your meal.

We have been to this place twice over the past 5 years, once before they had a restaurant and were just a few seats in a store and, nice after they first opened their small restaurant. This place is legit for good quality sushi. They also sell seafood and specialty groceries. They only have 4 tables so make sure to make a reservation well in advance or you will miss out. They’re only open for dinner after 5 but, it is definitely worth the planning.

Truly an exceptional place. I've been lucky enough to eat sushi all over the world and Fukasaku really stands out. I love the focus on local ingredients and sustainability. An absolute gem and I can't wait to return.

OMG! Life time experience! But keep your stomach empty for two days prior that! You simply can't resist delicious food! Chief is genius!

Went there last night. Quality never disappoints. However it is a little pricey but given the lack of food choices in Rupert, I come here every time I get into town. Owner is the chef, super nice guy. Interesting point I noticed last night: all their chairs and tables are made with wooden joints and dowels, no nails or screws

Best sushi experience outside of Japan. Small, simple, next level freshness, quality and presentation. This place is famous amongst those that know it. If you need a reason to visit Prince Rupert, Fukasaku is it.
