I've haven't felt so insulted, or unimportant as a consumer in many years.even after confirming with Zach what I wanted to do with my 10% discount that he told me my new edge card would give me via email, which never happened as I found out from calling them. The very kind people who deal with edge card issues over the phone redirected me back to the store as it's not an issue that they are in control of and mentioned it a store level with my card.

Before driving over 20 km to get to GameStop in Nanaimo, I called to make sure they had the product I was interested in, not a game console or anything like that, just simple accessories, unsurprisingly when I arrived there and the manager Zach, who sold me 4x PS5 games, 3 of which are online only when I was specific that I'm new to this and don't plan on purchasing PS network, yet it was too late to return them and their trade value was worth almost nothing compared to what I paid!

apparently if you take too much of Zach's time, don't spend enough in the store, or ask too many questions, apparently you're wasting his time. I have been shopping there for years but at a different location in Nanaimo that must have recently shut down unfortunately, in which the employees were 10/10's when I had my PS4 and previous consoles.

I've been a project manager in retail my entire career, allocating apx. 20% of my time training managers, and Zach couldn't run a business if it was a little kiosk in a tiny mall selling calendars, he is embarrassing your brand, and now passing the buck off on another really kind gentleman at that location who he sent out to break the bad news to me, the guy was real nice and I could tell he really didn't enjoy having to tell me as Zach was hiding in the back room the second he saw and heard why I was there, because we spoke of it earlier when he first gave me the edge card and I told him my intentions, of which he thought were smart.

GameStop also has serious communication issues between the edge program phone number/people, and the actual GameStop locations. They're telling two different stories and that's bad for business because neither one of them will own up to their promises so I'm done doing business with this company, even after all the years and at least over $1500 worth of business, just in games alone!

it's one thing to make your customers feel valued, it's another to make them feel unwanted, Zach accomplished the second one like a champ, unfortunately for GameStop! I hate to think of how often his immaturity, or even possibly his feeling of superiority gets the best of him and drives consumers away, as communication is almost 90% visual and his body language speaks volumes, especially when he continually roll his eyes.

I'm not looking to ruin anybody's career here, he desperately needs some serious training, maybe a course or 2 at VIU, the local university, on business, economics, but preferably communication. He could be the smartest manager on the planet, but if he can't properly articulate that to people, it really makes no difference.it also doesn't help when the staff doesn't tell the truth about their stock levels, which is why I called before I drove all the way there just for that reason, I did do some other shopping while I was at the mall, but that's why I went, yet was given every reason imaginable for the items to suddenly disappear.

Just to double check for my own peace of mind, I called back again today using a different phone and sure enough, they confirmed the items are in fact in stock. I really don't enjoy being lied to by anyone, especially a well established business with an excellent reputation like GameStop.

So stoked on the kind, patient, and helpful employees. I went in there just to get ideas for my kids for Christmas, letting a 5 year old and 3 year old lead the way. Before purchasing anything, an employee gave my kids wishlist books, Mario key chains, and activity books, and helped monitor them. I had an opportunity to sneak a small purchase up to the till and asked another employee to hide it and if I could buy it discretely to later surprise my daughter. She helped me purchase it quick, and another employee entertained the kids. Best customer service in a long time, and super grateful for the help with a little Christmas magic. Thank you both so much!

Wish they rotated their collactables selection more often, but a great store none the less

The store is overcrowded and while there is a large selection of games and action figures the cases aren't always in acceptable condition

Decided to buy a Nintendo Switch, staff member was very informative and helpful, she answered every question we had and suggested a few things to help protect the device. Overall, great staff great selection of collectables and games as well as knowledgeable.

Hey there. I just wanted to leave a 5 star review for the awesome friendly service i received yesterday at the Gamestop in Nanaimo BC. When I arrived, I was warmly greeted and all my questions were answered. The worker was able to find me a used copy of Zelda Links awakening (Which did not have a case or the original sleeve). They then went into the back and found me a case and even a factory sleeve. Even though my purchase was small i was treated very well. Great work Gamestop:).

This location is god awful, staff is largely unhelpful unless you're about to pay. Outside of the games they basically only have merch for anime fans and it is just mainstream anime. The Country club location was always better they should have closed down woodgrove. In fact they should probably close it down anyways.

Solid selection of games. Well organized and knowledgeable staff. Super clean. I would like to see more playable game systems in store and some retro gaming. Overall good store.

A bunch of junk toys that take up 80% of space and staff that knows nothing about various games. What a let down, won’t be back.
