Gami Sushi

Decent sushi for a decent price as my old go-to restaurant to satisfy sushi cravings. Love the yam tempura rolls and agedashi tofu. One thing to note though was a recent unpleasant experience with finding bits of imitation crab underneath an inari order and another previous experience with finding some fish eggs on my sushi, as a vegetarian. Also ever since the online order website change, the option for no avocado has been removed. I usually order yam tempura roll without avocado so I hope that this option could be implemented again.

We came for dinner and absolutely loved Gami Sushi, we will be back!

We tried the Killer Salmon Tacos & the Coconut Crunch Salmon as appetizers. We make it a habit to try new/speciality items we haven’t had before when visiting a new place. They were unbelievably delicious!

We also tried the Prawn & Yam Tempura which was crisp and freshly fried. The Pop Corn Roll and Negihama cones were also super yummy and we’d recommend them!

We can’t wait to come back and enjoy more delicious food!

Nice decor, usually busy so sometimes need to wait for a table Tried the aburi, it was pretty. Fair price, variety menu items, and easy parking is key.

Good sized portions and good quality.

Came here based on reviews talking about their variety and quality. Interior is really cute with lots of booths. Ordered the party tray A, two cones, oyster motoyaki and an udon. The food came out super fast. Portions were almost as big as those bulk sushi places but the quality was much better. One star off for my oyster motoyaki which was cheap at $8 something for three oysters but it wasn’t on the shell and the cheesy type custard was replaced by shredded cheese that was melted on top of the oysters with onions mixed in - kind of tasted like French onion soup and not motoyaki.
As fast as they were to give us our food they were equally fast to clear our dishes and give us the bill. I guess it’s because they had two other parties waiting to get a seat.
Our bill was less than $80 for four of us - thought that was pretty good.

Dined in with my family and really enjoyed.would go again with large parties because they have booths and staff were super kind.servers were super nice and helpful, and knew what to recommend us based on our preferences and we loved them.slight wait when rush hour, but worth it!

Not a fancy authentic sushi place but all these years have been serving consistently high quality food and always delicious. Place is busy all the time and that speaks volume. One of my fav Richmond sushi roll spot.

Just a warning: Apparently if you order any combos past 4pm, they take away the included miso soup and salad on take outs. I’m knocking off a few stars because this “rule” was not written on the website nor was I notified. I called in to ask why my combo orders were missing the soup and salad and they told me this “rule”, this has never happened to me before. Why would the restaurant call it a “combo” if there is no soup and salad? Very misleading!

Excellent sashimi, decent rolls. Rest of the food is good as well. Simple sushi place with good service and good choices for everyone.

They have a good selection of Japanese cuisine from cooked food to fresh sashimi. Along with a la carte dishes, there are good combos, bento boxes (at lunch) and party trays. They were quick in preparing our sushi party tray with a variety of nigiri sushi and rolls.
The place is popular and can get busy so come early to get a table or booth. Enjoy!

Everything is so fresh and seriously good. I've been coming here for about 5 years now, and it's still the same taste.

Very nice place, the restaurant gave us miso soup on the house as an extra which is nice! Sushi was great and the staff were welcoming!

Interesting roll choices, but all taste more or less the same. One of the better fusion joints in Richmond nonetheless.

Deep fried rolls - big bang, black moon - are well executed - not oily/soggy.

Pop corn roll is a unique take on pop corn (fried) chicken but with scallops.

Spicy salmon - small portion considering the price (full order in picture), but taste - sweet chili sauce on a different (better) level.

I've had better and for cheaper! Had the teriyaki beef donburi, got 2 big chunks of tough gristle meat in there. Not impressed. Will not return. Not worth the $15 either.

Japanese sushi restaurant runs by Korean. The owner rushed you for the able when you done your dinner.

Good food at a reasonable price. The restaurant was a bit crowded when we arrived but since we had take out we didn’t mind

Always consistent food. The popcorn roll is delicious if you like deep fried portions to your roll. Galbi lunch box is my husband's favorite. It's so busy in there at any given time and easy to see why!

Wow, believe me when I say this is the best sushi place in Richmond. It’s worth every penny and it’s not even that expensive for some dishes. We always ordered the same dishes, maki tray, assorted tempura, oyster motoyaki and yakisoba. They are all delicious and fresh, especially the sushi. The place is clean. We always came after the lunch hour, so lots of seating and parking available (around 2-3pm). I don’t know how busy it is during other times. Maybe that’s why the orders came so quick. The waiters don’t come around that often, which is not a problem for us, more privacy. But if we needed something, they were quick to help.

This is a Japanese restaurant serving Korean style sushi.

We are vegetarians. Ordered a Sweet Green Attack Roll and Avocado Roll for takeout today. The first is Attack Roll, which is quite rich in layers. All the vegetables are delicious together. It's a pity that the portion is a little less. But definitely qualified. In addition, the ingredients for the avocado roll are very fresh. The portion of this sushi is larger than the one just now. So the price/performance ratio is very high. Also their waiters are very polite. And they are all young people, so everyone is full of energy.

All mainstream Japanese food is also available here. And Party Tray is also available. Customers can place orders over the phone and pick them up later. And there aren’t many dine-in tables here. If you want to dine in, customers are advised to make a reservation.

Overall, the food served in this sushi restaurant is quite good. It would be perfect if there were more vegetarian options.

Had lunch with the family on Sunday. Sushi rolls had an excellent rice to filling ratio. Son had teriyaki chicken. He said it was one of the best he had tasted. Friendly service!

Gami used to be better but shrinkflation has really hit. Quite disappointed at this BC Roll that was part of the Maki Tray. Half the roll is cucumber, about 45% is imitation crabmeat and 5% is salmon skin/salmon. They used to be better but seems like they're really cost cutting.

The wasabi was also very dry to the point of crumbling.

Disappointing.
