Ganbei Izakaya Japanese Restaurant

Food was very delicious! I agree with other reviewers that you might not feel as full after only a couple of dishes but the flavor makes up for it. Not to mention, the service was great and the staff was very helpful!

Came here because I saw reviews/posts about them online and I'm glad I came to try for myself. The lobster sashimi was super fresh and the beef tataki was probably the best I've had in vancouver

Exceptional service, refilled our teas like 6 times without needing to ask. Holy crab roll, uni, and salmon belly was amazing.

The seafood is fresh and quality is excellent along with the service.

If you came here thinking it's a fast food joint expecting a meal in under 5 minutes please goto McDonalds and eat that instead. Save space for paying customers that appreciate quality.

Customer service was exceptional from all Ganbei staff! The servers were so welcoming and the overall atmosphere was great:)

The Hamachi toro is fresh, sake clam the sauce you feeling drinking the sake, the black and white rolls are yummy!

Second time to try, it was much better than when it was newly opened, and it has improved a lot. Amazing atmosphere, great food and drinks. Services are fantastic!

The food here was good we ordered lots of sushi, however some of the rolls took a little while to come out. Ambience of the restaurant was very cool and seating at the bar was very comfortable.

Slow service and subpar food. Atmosphere is ok I guess.

Foie gras toast tapas was fine.
Beef carpaccio was sitting in a pool of the sauce, too salty.
Hotate, escolar, and salmon nigiri all had too much rice, and the rice was on the mushier side so I was left swallowing an unpleasant lump of rice.
Fantastic Roll was good (mushy rice aside) but the menu didn't indicate it containing any cream cheese, and I ordered it specifically because it didn't state cream cheese as an ingredient.
3pc Kusshi oysters were good, however it took around 45 minutes to arrive. Unsure why it would have taken so long.
Chicken yakiyori was fine.
Beef tongue was lukewarm/room temp and half of the pieces were chewy.

Perhaps they were having a bad day and were understaffed and the rice had a few extra cups of water that day.

It’s as if Guu and Hapa Izakaya had a child and moved to Richmond. Great food, friendly service. We went during dj night the whole restaurant was bumping.

Absolutely loved the angus beef dish we hope it becomes a permanent edition!

Great food, friendly, attentive staff, reasonable prices and ample parking. I would recommend this place to family and friends.

Wonderful place to get one of a kind Japanese food. Great service and well presented food. The price is worth how well they present it. You will be amazed at how unique the dishes are compared to other Japanese restaurants I've been to.

It was my first time trying this restaurant, but the food and service were AMAZING! The waitresses/waiters’ recommendations were some nice dishes to try! The food came in a reasonable time, and the food worth the price. I also really love the design and atmosphere of the place, I can actually feel the enjoyment of GanBei and happiness with friends! Btw, I think reservation is needed for this wonderful restaurant.

Went to Ganbei for a birthday dinner on Saturday. Not only was the food awesome but the service was fantastic. Anyone crazy enough to not have a good time at this restaurant isn't capable of having a good time. Excellent food, Excellent service. I will go back and I will recommend to anyone looking for top notch sushi in Richmond.

Try the barracuda! It’s supper good. Haven’t had barracuda anywhere else! Would recommend this to all my frds.
