Gaya Sushi

Ordered 2 salmon rolls and toro sashimi totalling a whopping 32 dollars. The sashimi was extremely small and the 2 rolls were disgusting. Honest to God I've had better sushi from a grocery store. Save yourself the money and go elsewhere, because I definitely won't be visiting here again.

Their Bainbridge roll is delicious, and so beautifully made. The sushi chef knows what he’s doing!

The rice was overcooked and it made the sushi rolls wet, which is kind of off putting. The rolls I ordered also was made up of 1/3 filling/protein and 2/3 rice.

The pricing is not bad compared to most places, but l’ve definitely had better quality sushi for the same price point.

Sushi was gummy we walked in sat down and we were ordering take out so the guy was like you have to come up to the desk he couldn't even be bothered to come take our order at the table why because we we're not eating in. Regardless the food was mediocre. I was expecting more! Unfortunately my 9 year old even noticed because he eats California rolls all the time and this meal was for him and grandma.

The portion is quite small for regular price. They probably only into selling lunch special to kits rather than keeping regular guests.

Rude service.disrespect in general.served old food.then wanted payment the minute our food was served. Will not return

I friggin love going to this place for lunch.but one time the server asked if I was done then proceeded to wait an additional 10 minutes to bring me my check.it was very weird. I've gone back since though.

Ordered off doordash. Honestly wasn't great. The eel still had spines in it. The $13 chicken teriyaki was disappointing. The Alaska roll had a very thin slice of salmon. Paid $30 for 3 rolls and a chicken teriyaki.

The food was mediocre at best, chicken was gross, soft shell crab was not cleaned properly and the taste was horrendous it made me literally vomit, the yakisoba noodles were really soggy and bland, the rolls are alright but definitely not up to par for the price, the gyoza tasted like it was under a heat lamp for the past few hours with soggy bits and really hard bits, really unfortunate as the food looked fantastic when it arrived

Update: My gf and I both have started having severe stomach cramping and nausea, seems like we may have food poisoning yay! Don't eat here for the love of God

The cost: quality is there and rarely have had issues for the amount of times ive ordered from this place. The menu could have some new items which would be nice.

The udon I ordered was pretty low quality though, def room for improvement there. Other reviews state poor quality in meat which I would agree with. This place is good for sushi only.

Chae and the staff at Gaya fulfilled, accommodated and helped to make my daughter's graduation from elementary school memorable! Every individual order was labelled and devoured by all! Thank you very much!

Fresh food. This place is packed all the time. Servers are nice and friendly. Very quick service especially when only having 30 minute lunch break this place beats it all!

I usually order from here and lately this place has been very un-organized. The last time i picked up my order the employees had no clue which order i was talking about even though i had my receipt and order number. Today, i went to pick up and the same thing happened. They didnt even start making my order even though i was informed to pick up. I had to wait extra 30 min. They blamed it on being "busy" but other people that were behind me were geting there pick up orders. Managment needs to step it up or they are losing a really dedicated customer.

The servers here are friendly and go out of their way to provide excellent service, including to couriers. Always a pleasure to come here.

The food was pretty yummy! I don’t have high stands as far as sushi goes tho, I’m quite content with anything. However I found that they were kinda rude. They did seem busy when I picked up my takeout order, so it’s unfair for me to make assumptions. But it was like they were bothered I was there: (.

Only been to this place once, and it was just really out of convenience because it was on the south side of Lougheed highway heading east. Only had a couple of rolls and they were decent nothing special and pricing was okay. This is another Korean run Japanese restaurant with a bunch of fusion garbage on it's menu. Waitress could barely speak English so they couldn't even understand our order again. For something quick and simple though this is really the only place in that area for sushi so I suppose that's all right.

First and final time ordering from here.

It's a good thing I wasn't all that hungry. Because most of my order went into the trash.

Average sushi! The flavour is off on the most basic rolls, their ginger is dry and their chicken karage meat is super fatty - the flavor was really good on it however. For a quick run its okay but not my first pick

Omg, this is my 3rd time ordering from Gaya and today is the worst ever. Easily the worst sushi place in lower mainland. This make Costco sushi taste like a winner. Today their rice is mushy, bland no hint of vinegar whatsoever. It's going downhill from there. The sushi chef must have hated his job. To put it into perspective, this is the kind of sushi you eat at an american buffet place. It's that bad. Next time, I'll stick with California Sushi or Sushi Town, they never disappoint.

10/10 would recommend this place. I usually do delivery, this time went for dine in and loved the food and service.

My go to place for sushi. So many good sushi rolls. The bainbridge roll is a must try for a specialty roll!

Turned away 20mins before closing even though we only wanted to order take out. Kitchen open and drivers still turning up and leaving with food, glad I cook the time to walk to your restaurant…

I've been grabbing sushi here whenever I need lunch. Fish is always fresh and the prices are not too bad.

The sushi was amazing as always. Great customer service. I feel full and great full that I went.

We ordered online under one bill consisting of 6 different orders for a group, put the details in the memos and Gaya went out of their way to individually package our meals for us even though it was on one bill. Additional to that they attached sub orders to the bill without asking so we could figure out our lunch costs easier. It was such an appreciative, nice touch and we really appreciated all the little details for our order. Food was also great.thank you.

Sashimi are disappointingly small for the price. Large rolls are sloppily put together, and the end pieces have barely anything inside.

Gaya is the best of the best. Their hot night roll is 25/10! Sushi and ingredients are always very fresh. Prices are great. Never had a problem and I’ve ordered here over 30 times!

Ordered take-out on Friday night and it was awful. The sushi rice was so overcooked that you couldn't discern individual grains of rice - was just a layer of rice paste around each roll. Chicken karaage was so overcooked it was dry and chewy, and didn't even come with a wedge of lemon, - just a container of tough, dry chicken. I used to love this place, and give it a try every once in a while to see if it's gone back to being good, but this was the worst I've had from there so far. Ordering online was convenient but the descriptions are lacking or wrong. My tempura roll said it would have two prawns and spicy mayo, but only had one and came absolutely doused in a sweet sauce. Also didn't mention that the dynamite roll has crab.

Don't go there, those people gave me sushi with fish skin, no fish just skin. Idk why they open this business when the quality of food is lower than ever in the city. They do not deserve even half a star.

I am half an hour drive away from Gaya Sushi, and yet I am more than happy to make the trip to pick up my Alaska and Bainbridge rolls. Great quality, Great prices, Highly recommend!

7 years ago this place was so good! Now the sashimi pieces are tiny, and the sushi is mostly just rice. Fish wasn't fresh either. Never have I ever been so disappointed with sushi in Vancouver.

Was getting take out on a hot day (40c), paid 13% tips then asked if I can wait inside for my order. The answer was no, inside seats are for dine in only! At that moment there was only ONE customer inside, 90% tables empty! The service need significant improvement!

Awesome stuff, had their food a few times and it is great. Too bad there isn't any dining in currently, their take out is just as good. Ordered their chicken teriyaki don this time and the chicken had a nice crunch along with the sauce making it a bit softer. Nice place to get my sushi fix, would come back.

Quick service, kind staff, cheap but quality eats! Definitely my new fave sushi spot! Got the Philadelphia roll, tuna avo roll, crazy roll and tempura roll and ALL were bomb! Edamame was a little light on the salt but was easily fixed! Would highly recommend

I came here as doordash driver and they didn't let me use the sanitizer and told me it's only for customers! With a very bad attitude
What a joke is this place

Honesty is the most important attribute to a successful company. They blatantly lied about pick-up wait time. Over the phone they said 45-minute wait time and I decided not to order. Before I hung up, they said 30 minutes. So, I thought they could expedite my offer. Upon arrival for the pick-up at the 35th minute, the waiter showed me his iPad saying that I was early by 10 minutes. I told him what happened over the phone and he brushed me off.

Usually I don’t leave a bad feedback, but after eating the sashimi at this place I really had no choice. Hope the food quality will go up later on!

Fantastic Sushi, reasonable pricing, Friendly, professional, quick, very welcoming & warm employee's. Very cozy & clean Resturant. Their portion sizes are good, plating is very clean & attractive.
This was my second time going to this Resturant & I found the service as good as the first time round if not better. It is an all female run resturant, which in my opinion is 1000 times more efficient than a Unisex run or majority male dominated establishment.
We as a family have frequented numerous Sushi restaurants very highly priced one's to very cheap & affordable priced, but this particular Resturant, GAYA SUSHI takes first prize.
Each member of our small family loves to eat Sushi, so it is imperative that any Sushi place we visit, has to stand out above others. I definitely recommend GAYA SUSHI to any & all Sushi Fans.

Their sushi is decent. I ordered salmon sashimi and it came in these tiny pieces and was $2.50 more than where I usually go (the other places were closed). That was a little disappointing to be charged more and get smaller pieces.

Hi there, i visited your restaurant last Friday.
Service was great, food quality was amazing but i lost my appetite because of disgusting smoked scent from one of the servers. He was the only male server but whenever he walked by or stop at our table I just couldn't stand that sent. Me and my girlfriend had to excuse ourselves because of the scent. He failed to explain us the menu properly so i had to re-ask another female server. I also have witnessed him smoking outside the restaurant as we were leaving. I believe the management should take action and fix this problem.

For quick, cheap and most importantly, good tasting sushi, Gaya is perfect for all that! Really quick service with good tasting food and it makes for a great sushi spot.

Staff was attentive and service was quick. Food came out pretty quickly from the kitchen. Quality of the food is on par as reflective of the price tag. Taste of the food is a hit or miss. My recommendation: don't order the ebi mayo as the batter on the prawns was really thick. Also I had to down a couple glasses of water after the meal, they must have added lots of MSG to the food!

Fast service even when busy. Extensive menu from rolls to teriyaki plates. Not cheap but also not expensive. Ive been many times and will continue to eat here.

Love eatting sushi from here. Very fast delivery even when waiting on a sushi order. Friendly, courteous and fast!

First and last time eating at this spot. Went in for Beef Teriyaki and Vegatable Horrible. Beef was tougher than opening their front door and I guess their ideas of vegetables are much different than mine $12 for food I’m throwing in the garbage. Would never recommend

Came here and ordered Tuna and Salmon Don, Chicken Katsudon, and Chirashi Don. My family was very disappointed by the food when it arrived.
The Chirashi Don and Tuna and Salmon Don were served with fish that would be fine for a small bowl but was served with two or three heaping portions of rice. We had to take more than half the rice out to eat something that wouldn't be almost only rice.
The Chicken Katsudon was slathered in Teriyaki sauce for some reason. The fried egg on top was overcooked. The whole dish was very salty.
We had the impression that the food was made to be "close-enough" to sushi for people that aren't familiar with good sushi.
While service was nice (our waitress tried really hard to address the issues we brought up to the best of her ability), the food was just lame.
Compared to sushi places like SushiU, Sushi Garden, Sushitown and even Giwa Sushi this place is not the choice to make. Personally we won't be going there again.
If you're in the area and desperate for food the pizza place next door is MUCH better, with very friendly owners that serve great pizza.
