Had a very enjoyable time w kids aged 1 and 4. They loved feeding the ducklings and geese and even had a few little black birds fly onto our outstretched hands. Bird seed is $2 a bag that's about the size of your hand. 1 per kid was enough for us.
Bring stroller or carrier because it will be too long of a walk for the littles. Paths are gravel trails. Some paths very shady and cool even when the sun is high. There were nice benches to sit for a snack.
Bonus is stopping by emma lea farms on the way back for some ice cream!
Come bring the kids and feed the ducks and canadian geese out of your hand. Need to buy the seed from the sanctuary. The sandhill cranes are always a treat to see. Bring a picnic, sit at a table or on the grass. Very clean bathrooms
My favorite place to go birding! Since the covid closures the birds have gotten much more friendly (they were already friendly) so it has been a great experience! My only issue is how many parents let their kids toss gravel in the air, or worse at the birds and then the birds think that small rocks are food.please don't leave your children unattended, this isn't a zoo and you're visiting the home of wildlife, the wildlife didn't come there to amuse humans.
Anyone knows what is the best time during the day to book online? It always says no dates/time available whenever I check. When does their website refresh for new spots?
Excellent place to enjoy nature and birds. Multiple trails leading around the park so it's easy to find peace even on a busy day. Lots of parking, trails are clean, nice washrooms, and birds, lots of birds.
TERRIBLE! I will never again go to this pathetic EXECUSE for a bird sanctuary. The owner or whoever he was, was extremely rude for the simple reason that I ran from a duck. That guy thought I was chasing it, and didn't even give me a chance to explain myself. I would give this 0 stars if I could.
