Most people only know Glacier NP in the states but Canada's namesake is one of the most unreal national parks in North America. Incredible visitor centers, great hiking and campgrounds with huts that have stoves for colder days. Plenty of firewood and some of the most outstanding scenery ever. A must see for serious campers and hikers.

World class ski touring and glacier mountain scenery. Beautiful views all year round. Knowledgable parks Canada staff working at the info center. The museum is interesting with lots of wildlife and railway info.

Driving through it is fun, but staying the night is even better. There are some great hiking spots. We will be back.

Incredible destination with a little something for everyone in the family. Hiking, history, trains, nature. Would definitely recommend going the extra distance out of Golden just to see this again

Once you get up to altitude, you have fantastic views of the glacier and the highway as well

Welcome to Glacier National Park, located in the southwest of British Columbia. Before the railway arrived in the 1860s and 1880s, the First Nations were here, and there there is a knowledge gap about how they tended to this area. The Park was founded in 1886 and is situated in segments of the Selkirk and Columbia Mountains.

One of the Park’s national historical places of interest is Rogers Pass, located 68.0 km (about 42.25 miles) from Revelstoke and 80.9 km (about 50.26 miles) from Golden. The Pass is named after Major A. B. Rogers, an executive with the Canadian Pacific, and is a National Historic Site.

The Park became accessible by rail through the Canadian Pacific and by road with the Trans-Canada Highway, attracting visitors to this picturesque location.

When visiting Glacier National Park, you may feel like you are in the Canadian Alps, surrounded by towering mountains that impress upon you the deep richness of this location. However, be cautious as the snow becomes deep, and avalanches can test even the most experienced people in alpine conditions. During the summer, you often need to negotiate matted and thick undergrowth.

Despite the risks, the journey can be worth it, and the challenges of high summits, operational glaciers, and snow-covered and icy trails can be exhilarating. Like many places in British Columbia, Alberta, and other parts of Canada, North America, and the world, there are often negatives and positives linked to majestic or unique sites. Enjoy your visit to Glacier National Park!

This glacier travel course is the ideal program for hikers, scramblers, backcountry skiers and climbers who wish to safely learn the basics of mountaineering in glaciated terrain. Many of the best climbs in the Rockies and throughout the world involve some glacier travel. Rescue and judgement skills are crucial to enjoying these climbs in a safe manner.

What do you get when you combine ancient glaciers, a legendary icefield, and all the wonders beneath the snow-capped Canadian peaks? One of the coolest vacations there is! This nine-day tour through the Canadian Rockies and Montana’s Glacier National Park is an adventure filled with wild history, wild scenery, wildlife, and wild rides. Aboard a famous vintage Red Jammer, a massive ice explorer, a glass-walled boat (and even a flightseeing helicopter should you choose) you’ll relish the best views of big skies, bighorn sheep, and even bigger bears. From rugged gold rush territory to the sparkling turquoise waters of Banff and Jasper National Parks, there are so many gems to sink your teeth into on this Canadian Rockies vacation. We suggest starting with a tender filet of Alberta beef and a heavenly slice of homemade huckleberry pie.

Surely one of the most beautiful places on earth. Obscured by forest fire smoke when we were there.

We had been in May first week and the ice is still covered, yet we managed to hike up quite a bit in our summer t-shirts as the weather was unusually pleasant. It seems there’s an ice explorer Brewster bus that takes you up but we were a bit early in the season for that. You wouldn’t want to miss the scenic mountains though.

A cette période de l'année les sentiers sont fermés, mais nous avons adoré le centre d'information, avec beaucoup de maquettes et d'information intéressantes sur le création de la route

Astonishing snow covered mountains by the Glacier National Park (Canada) which is a part of the Selkirk Mountains and the Columbia Mountains. Location is at the Columbia–Shuswap Regional District between Vancouver and Calgary, Alberta.
