Goen Sushi

I ate sushi for lunch here a couple of times. It's nothing amazing, but the food tastes good and the service is efficient and friendly.

Food is not worth the value. Everything in the lunch special tasted bad. Costs $18 for small portions with hardly any value. Chicken tastes overcooked but looks undercooked. Drenched in chilli sauce to mask the blandness of the chicken. Miso soup was okay. Didn’t feel too good afterwards.

I would stick to cooked dishes here. Chicken karaage don was tasty. But for sushi, look elsewhere. I got the Hawaiian Roll (around $14 from what I remember) and it was so saucy and intensely salty that you could not taste any other ingredients - and there wasn't much fish on or in the roll to begin with. It was difficult to finish. I hope they improve, but even if it were a cheap restaurant (it's not), the sushi is not worth it.

Very nice service, we were seated quickly, the server was super sweet and kind. Very attentive and the food came out so fast. All the food we had was so fresh and delicious.

Don't eat here. ME AND MY FRIEND BOTH GOT HORRIBLE FOOD POISONING. The sickness that came with the food was absolutely disgusting.

I came here for lunch few days ago. One of their door buster is Hamachi Sashimi. They are fresh and large size (5). I also have ordered their spicy tuna roll plus cooked food as well. Service is very attentive, All good for lunch and they also have Happy Hour specials as well. I will come back for more

We really liked the atmosphere of the place. I ordered salmon sashimi and different nigiri. My boyfriend ordered a stir-fry. It was all very tasty.

I walked into this restaurant today in the early afternoon with my mother to have a quick bite. My mother wasn’t hungry but I haven’t eaten and it was quite hot outside so we went in.

The server didn’t even pour us any water but took my order and just because my mother didn’t order anything, the server refused to service us. Her reason was that my mother had to also order something.
My meal alone cost over twenty dollars before tax and tip. So the restaurant would have still earned some decent money and since I have never dined there before, they could have gained a potential new repeat customer, had the service been better.

Plus, the restaurant was empty. There was only one other table of two. We were also sitting right at the window where other people passing by could see us, which is what a restaurant manager should want. You want a full looking restaurant not an empty one. But since this lady was reluctant to serve us and spoke up to us in such an unprofessional and unappreciative rude tone, I got up with my mother and we left.

If I was her manager and found out I would be furious. I am also a professional in the food industry and although I didn’t end up trying the food, the service and lack of proper etiquette by our server not only ruined my appetite, but made me write this review. I will never return to this place because of how my mother and I were treated. And I will definitely spread the word. No wonder this place was so empty.

Sockeye salmon sashimi is half the size of neighboring sushi restaurants but costs more than the places with better portions and quality.

The spicy agedashi tofu looks like someone poured sriracha on top and called it a complete order.

They didn't even give us chopsticks with our order.

Disappointed and will not be ordering from here again. Big waste of money.

This is my local go-to sushi place. The are several options in the area, but I like the friendly service here, the reasonable prices and delicious sauces. The pumpkin croquettes are one of my favorite dishes and they steam the edamame just right. We typically order take out but recently ate in. It's easy to make reservations and get a table mid-week. The women's washroom has 3 stalls (one out of order at my last visit) and is decorated to give the illusion of walking into a hanging garden! Touchless paper towel dispenser.

Just ordered takeout and the dynamite roll was probably one of the best I’ve had. Inside is super aesthetic, they have lunch specials and the staff we encountered were really nice. Insta worthy spot!

Ordered take out with my roommate the first time I ate here. They gave us the complete wrong order and the rolls were falling apart. When we went to take it back they were really rude and didn’t want to refund us. Was walking home and thought I would give it another try, dining in this time. I asked if they had bento boxes she said yes. I ordered the sashimi bento. She then informs me there are no bentos after 3pm. Okay, I’ll get some rolls and some miso. I paid at the counter and went and sat down. The rolls were hard like the rice had been sitting out. The one crunch roll was served in a bamboo trough thing that you couldn’t eat from. I asked for a side plate and she brought me a takeout box. I said no, a side plate so I can actually eat these. She then very rudely stormed off and came back with a plate at least 10 mins later. Mind you, at this time, I am the only one in the store. I then asked for water which never came. I couldn’t eat the rolls without them completely falling apart. The only thing I could actually taste was the Sriracha they put on the tops of them. I asked for my water again while I was putting what sushi I could into a takeout container and she brought me a bill. I asked what it was for and she told me my miso soup which, I thought I had already paid for. I told her I would need the machine and she said they don’t accept anything under 5$. I told her I had no money on me and if she wanted her 2.50$ she would have to let me use the machine because it should have been on my original bill. She left for quite a while leaving me standing there before coming with a machine so I could pay. I was hungry and optimistic about the first experience I had with them being just a screw up. I was wrong. This place is just bad. The rolls, the prices, and the staff. Save your money so you aren’t disappointed. Go somewhere else. I know I wish I had.

Wonderful Japanese restaurant. Service was fast and friendly and food was very fresh. Loved it.

I resulted to trying this as my usual spot was closed and I wish I opted for something else entirely. I honestly have no clue why this is so highly rated. I've had better mall sushi. The crunchy spicy tuna roll had literally no tuna in it! None at all. Just tempura bits lol I was so confused. I called to ask them if they got my order wrong but I guess that's just how it is. Anyways, I recommend saving your money and going somewhere else.

Portion for salmon sashimi is kind of small but the spicy sauce is soo good I get it all the time. Service and taste is pretty good and pricing is a bit high but overall I really like it and I go very often and would recommend if you like sushi especially nigiri!
