Gojo Café Ethiopia I Ethiopian Cuisine

I enjoyed the delicious and authentic Ethiopian food from Gojo Café Ethiopia. The service was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere of the restaurant was quite good as well.

WOW Kitfo and Awaze Tibs both are unbelievably YAMMY and of course the owner is very friendly! Thank you so much for everything!

This place was my first experience with Ethiopian food, and it has set the bar really high. My friend and I were very excited. Suffice to say, we were very pleased.

The owner was friendly and accomodating to us. He recommended trying the Platter for Two, and we substituted Beef Key Wat with Lamb.

The food was delicious. Injera has an interesting sour taste, but it doesn't intrude in any way with the flavor of the other food. Both the veggies and meat were great. Our personal favorite was the Miser Wat, which is a veggie dish made from red lentils. And all of that was approximately $21 per person, with tax.

Another key note here is the atmosphere. The paintings on the wall and Ethiopian music playing really sets a great vibe.

I'm definitely coming back and I'm trying the Doro Wat.

I’ve been going here for years and it’s my favourite family owned restaurant in Vancouver. The food is consistently fantastic and the portions are big. The owner and staff are so nice and caring towards everyone, and it’s well-frequented by Ethiopians so you know it’s top quality and authentic. I honestly don’t know why there isn’t a lineup down the street for this place. The more well-known place nearby Gojo lacks the flavour, quality and personality that Gojo has.

Great little Ethiopian place with amazing value! Their veggie special is $9.99 on Mondays and Tuesdays, which is a steal!

The food is comforting and feels healthy, so I don't feel a sense of guilt for eating out here.

The restaurant is also not too busy, so you'll almost always find seating. Additionally, the decorations are simple and understated, which is impressive since the prices are fairly low.

They take cash and debit only so don't try to pay with credit!

The food was not bad, the Shelka Dry Tibs was lovely, the Lamb awaze tibs was good too, the Gojo Combo was ok. The sambusa was lovely.
The place was not clean, and the service was not the best. The server was nice. It’s probably worth trying it once, but I doubt I’ll come back here.

Amazing food. Atmosphere is nice and service was not too long. Very filling meal. Highly recommended if you haven't tried Ethiopian food before.

If you haven’t been here you’re missing out! The food is astounding as is the service. Each time i walk in i’m greeted with a the most amazing smile and get treated like royalty. It’s such an amazing spot and you can really see how much the owner cares about his customers, his food and his restaurant. It’s Vancouvers hidden gem, if you have a chance stop by for a bite take it, you won’t regret it!

The food was really amazing. Different spices.the beets salad was so interesting and yummy.

? On a 30 degree summer day, my group of seven made a reservation to this restaurant. The small space (fits ~5 groups) and lack of adequate cooling made the atmosphere a bit intense until evening.

We all shared a Platter for 4 and the fish dry tibs. The flavors came close to what we had in Africa, with generous portions. The fish was the highlight.

With a single host, service was quite slow, taking 30 minutes for the server to attend to us and over an hour for the food to arrive.

Nonetheless, I would still recommend giving it a try for those looking to experience African cuisine.

What an awesome experience every time I come here! Food, culture, and service are top notch at this restaurant. If you like Ethiopian food, you definitely owe them a visit:)

Delicious Ethiopian cousin. Loved the kitfo, served with minced meat on top of flat soft bread. Don't forget to choose the lavel of the spiciness

Great food and amazing service. Visited this lovely restaurant with my family and the entire family enjoyed the meal. The experience was authentic and it allowed us to experience authentic Ethiopian food. The owner is super nice and the staff was friendly too. Overall experience was outstanding.

Atkilt is phenomenal! I remember visiting Vancouver 3 years ago and had a great time catching up with old friends over a veggie platter here at Gojo cafe and revisiting it again the other day, the family-based service is what keeps us coming back. Went back with family, friends and colleagues that have never tried Ethiopian food and each time they walk out, always blown away by Atkilt's hospitality, the food quality and service.

Amazing veggie platter (vegan), always so hearty and delicious. I’m gluten/sensitive and the injera never bothers my gut. Love cheap veggie platter night (Mon/Tues)

A new Ethiopian favourite. Flavours of each of the injera toppings are distinct and bright.

Absolutely amazing food. I eat here semi regularly, both in restaurant and take-out. It is easy to say that Gojo Cafe makes some of the best food in the city. I would highly recommend.

Fantastic experience! We got the Veggie and Meat Combo, enjoyed trying the delicious variety of sauces, and topped the evening off with fresh Ethiopian coffee. Service was personable and friendly. Will be going back again soon!

This place is amazing. The owner is very hospitable. We had the vegetarian platter and it tasted so great. We also had the fish ghoulash and the dry fish and it was out of this world. The dry beef dish was something I would go back for. They have something delicious for everyone. Highly recommend and I can’t wait to come back again soon!

Superbly spiced. Wow. Splendid quality food. I wish I had come here earlier. The service was perfect, too.

Food was good, I haven’t had a lot of Ethiopian food but the injera bread didn’t taste super fresh. The gluten free one tasted a bit more fresh than the regular one but it was quite a bit more acidic / vinegary. They ask you to pay debit if you can.

Fantastic family run place. Excellent food, healthy, delicious, just a great place to go with friends. For a group of 6, I would recommend the share plate for 4 people + two other mains of your choice, which all came in a huge communal platter (see pics). Will definitely go back for sure.
