I orders fro here via Uber eats tonight. I’m not one to leave horrible reviews. However this was beyond gross.
The egg roll was a bloated ball of goo.
The noodles were bland.
The egg fu young was very undercooked and still slimy.
The rice was flavourless.
Absolutely no flavour.
What a waste of money! Disgusting

We were a large group. We were served by one server. She was awesome! Not one mistake. Food was hot, but it really didn't taste.like Chinese food should taste like. Seperate bills came and each one was correct! I found the food in line with Shrinkflation!

Best Chinese food around! Well worth the drive from N Delta to pick up. Always friendly service and reasonably priced. Highly recommend.

Great fresh food, Connie the owner, manager, waitress and everything is professional, friendly and always helpful. We will always support indie restaurants over chains.

Seriously good Chinese food… had the 3 piece individual combo with pork fried rice and 2 egg rolls… the food was loaded up and is all very fresh and tasty! The lady working waitressing as well as the to go orders was very pleasant! Highly recommend and will be going back (a lot since I live around the corner)

PS to everyone saying it’s outdated, it looks so good like that! Makes me feel like I’m in a 80’s Jean Claude Van Damme movie and that’s dope af

Kind of reminded me of frozen lean cuisine.

Fantastic food here, decent prices and nice staff. The old standards are great at this place. My personal favorite are the won ton soup, sweet and sour pork and their Cantonese chow mein. It reminded me back home in Chinatown in Vancouver.
Would come again!

It’s been my go to place since I moved here 12 years ago. Good food, service and good value. Eat in takeout or deliver all good.

I feel I need to share not because of the disappointing meals I've had the last two times but because of the response of the restaurant when I brought it to their attention. I made a simple order of sweet and sour pork and chicken Chow Mein. The last time I ordered this combo there was very little sauce on the pork. I thought ok maybe just an off night and I let it go. Then tonight when I got home with my order. Same thing very little sauce. So I called and told the employee of my disappointment in the food. She put me on hold saying she had to speak to the kitchen. When she came back she apologized and said they would make sure to put more sauce on next time. What does that even mean? What I expected was an apology along with a credit for the next time, with the promise of better service and product. Unfortunately the best Chinese food in White Rock is going downhill. Fast

Do you know that feeling when your regular take out place is closed for some unforseen reason & go somewhere else? Well. Jackpot bebe! As sceptic as I was, this place is fantastic.food was great & by far superior to my regular place (S. D). Tonight's meal is the reason I'll be going back, & my NEW favorite Chinese food spot here in White rock / South Surrey. Great food guyZ n GalZ! HIGHLY RECOMMEND. & Their wor wonton isn't for the light eater. ITS A MEAL!

Love the Golden Lion. It is our family go-to for Chinese food. Delicious food, lots of variety, excellent pricing. Friendly staff! Always a great experience.

Ordered special meal for 2. It was delivered at the estimated time and was piping hot. We enjoyed the food. Will use again.

Biases review as if gone here alot when I was younger. Decent food, not the most authentic Chinese food but good for stereotype Chinese-American style food. Staff is always nice, lighting is abit dim at times, but still a good vibe because of the staff/owners. Fav place to get hot and sour soup for my grandma, taste is consistent and not too spicy or sour.

Wonderful service and friendly staff. But the food continues to be incredibly standard. With the abundance of chinese style restaurants in the area, it's become better to order from elsewhere lately.

Always excellent service and food. Connie remembers us every time and makes sure we are happy. Portions are very generous and delicious. We have ordered takeaway on Christmas Eve for decades from them and we have never been disappointed.

We ordered take out food. The service was very quick. Food we ordered was very good. They don't use MSG in any of there food they serve. Yes, we recommend Golden Lion Restaurant. Cost of meals are reasonable.

Golden Lion is a step back into 1982. I believe they may have filmed Bonnie Tyler's, 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' video there.

Golden Lion is just what it is. Chinese Food for people who love caucasian Chinese Food.

Nothing fancy.

Nothing amazing.
Nothing spectacular.

It is what it is.

Shrimp and fried rice are special. But There is a very strong smell inside the restaurant, I do not know if it is from the carpet or some chemical they use.

We received wonderful service. The food however was quite bland and average. I would not come here again but I'm glad I tried it.

Golden Lion has been our family's favorite for 45 years! Connie is the best Can't get enough Honey Garlic Chicken wings!

Hands down worst Chinese food I've ever had.
Uncooked noodles topped with sliced raw mushrooms.

Almond chicken was deep fried.fish? With crumbled baked almond powder on it.

The Egg Rolls they serve are inedible and they've always forget to bring chop sticks especially when you specifically order them

Terrible service after 15min. Went to bar asked if we good get served wonton came lukewarm. Took for ever to get our order every thing came like war but food was good just not hot. Will try once more so far not so good.

They are very friendly, their food is great, my son loves the sweet and sour chicken balls.mmm and lemon chicken is so good too! Actually having it for dinner as soon as it gets here:)

Been going there 50 years. Still great food. Mainly go there because Connie is great and still works there. The place started as a house, then they built a big square building which later burned badly and was rebuilt into the current iteration which is a very similar building.

Take out order. I was told that it would be 1 hour to get my food. It actually took 2 hours and was cold. When I asked why it took so long they said nothing just told me to take my food and go. Extreamly unprofessional will not go back here.

Pretty basic American chinese food, not great but not horrible, but whatever you do, DO NOT get the chow mein lol it's pretty much mr noodles, no sauce or seasoning and small bits of plain chicken.

Went for dinner tonight with my partner. Wonton soup was served cold. Entrees were not bad, not specially tasty just okay. But the real issue was there was an animal tip towing on the ceiling above, you could hear it had gotten in some how and was stuck on the panels above and was running around. The waiter heard it and apologized and said it was a racoon. But either way very uncomfortable experience as we had no way of knowing if it was a rat or what it was. I think if it was a racoon it would of fallen as they are too heavy for the plastic tiles.

I suspect it was some type of rodent. Either way very upsetting as it got inside the restaurant very easily and the young gentleman who might of been the owner's son didn't seem to be especially surprised. Will not be returning and kinda wish I've gotten my money and meal back to be honest!

Sweet staff and very tasty food. I recommend the beef and green beans in garlic black bean sauce. Chow mein was not very flavorful but everything else was great!

Food is excellent, service is very friendly. It's family owned and it shows. We always have the same server and she recognizes us even though we only go a few times a year. I really like the background music they play too.

Food was pretty good until I found maggots in my fried rice. Not impressed. They just lost a customer

I am so sorry. Golden Lion has been our goto family restaurant for 40+ years. This time the portion sizes were significantly smaller and the meal tasted off. The egg rolls were way over cooked and almost empty inside. I don't think we will be going back.

Cheap and cheerful Chinese food that really hits the spot. Generous portions. A dinner for two feeds me for 3 days! Always try and make the trip here when I come into town to work.

Had some take out from here on a week night. It was my first time ordering from here so I checked out their reviews and everything looked good. Lots of good reviews. I called and ordered three dishes. The plain fried rice, a chicken dish and chicken chow mein. They told me that I will get 10% off my bill because I was doing a pick up, which was very nice. The person taking my order was very friendly and helpful. I was told it will be about 20 mins for my food to be ready for pick up. Which was very reasonable! I was just apply and excited to try this place out after all the great reviews. 20 mins later, I arrived at the restaurant and was happy to see that there was ample parking available. They have a huge lot. The restaurant was not super busy, a few tables but mostly quiet. The guy at the counter was very friendly. I paid and left. Got home and my bf and I began unpacking and eating our dinner. Unfortunately, we were both really disappointed with the food. We are by no means picky eaters but the food was hard to eat. The fried rice was just ok but the other two dishes were not enjoyable at all. The chicken chow mein was just boiled noodles with no sauce, vegetables or any type of seasoning and plain boiled chicken pieces on top. I was expecting something stir fried or for the chicken to be seasoned. But it was just pale, plain, boiled chicken pieces. Everything tasted very bland and dry. The food was not fresh for whatever reason. Perhaps we just caught them on a bad day.but we couldn't eat much of the food that night and unfortunately it ended up in the compost.

Nowadays I've discovered it's hard to find a good chinese restaurant which everything tastes good.it seems the new generation of cooks are losing their pride and more interested in money. This restaurant has improved over the years and recently we've been ordering food almost weekly from them. Our favorite on the menu was the rock cod hot pot which we ordered a few times. After the last time we ordered this, we were very disappointed and felt ripped off when the supposedly cod pieces were formed chunks of flour instead of fish. How can we trust them after this? You tell me.
