Just a fun post - want to support your local Japanese pancake place with a variety of drinks from boba to happy hour specials? Then come here! Spacious seating area, great for students and friends catching up over drinks.

Loved my pancakes. They melt in your mouth. Did not like the 2 drinks I ordered. Got a green coloured smoothie and it was too icy, needed some element of dairy. The cold brew was also disappointing…not enough coffee flavor. A great place to hang out. The giant pile of pancakes were a hit with the kids and kept them occupied for the entire wait for the pancakes (~15-20 mins). Would go again and try diff drinks.

AMAZING FOOD! I got a prosciutto sandwich (also had bocconcini, arugula, and probably a bit of heaven) and a London fog bubble tea and both were to die for! The person who served us was very friendly and it was such a nice place to spend lunch with friends. Will be coming back soon for sure!

The ambience is cool, high ceilings with enough seating and some cute furnishings.

What's unique about this place is definitely the variety of drinks they offer, including cheesy iced tea with fruit infusions that are really tasty (we tried the strawberry iced black tea), strong tea flavors and good fruit flavors (using actual fruit rather than syrups).

This place is an absolute delight. The cozy atmosphere and calm area is great for a study place. Im often here with my friends to either hang out or study as well. The main focus is the desserts and drinks, and they do not disappoint. The workers are super friendly and nice, as well as customer service. Would definitely recommend to come by if you ever get the chance.

Came here for an afternoon snack & was really glad we got to try the premium souffle pancakes. They were soft & fluffy with a more egg-y flavour than non souffle pancakes which I enjoyed!
Would have loved a bit more syrup but there was a good amount of cream so the dish wasn't too dry.

Most of the tables were taken up by people studying, leaving only the communal table for everyone else to sit. Not sure how I would feel about that situation as the owner but at least the cafe wasn't too noisy.

Go to this local café because of its nice ambiance, friendly service, and good quality. The pancakes are great, the coffee is pretty good, and most of the baristas can do a nice Rosetta or heart latte art. Service is a little slow, but that’s ok for me.

First time I came here, it is good experience!
This place is new, nice decoration. The drinks are so tasty (I tried mochi oreo milk tea and strawberry smoothie) but you should ask for less sugar.

Raspberry and Mango Pancakes with cream are moist and nice. However, as they have been in the cupboard for some time, they are not fluffy enough.
The Cafe Latte is creamy and awesome!

I've been wanting to try these for a long time. It has beautiful decor and the cold pancakes were fast to have with the kids.

The sandwich and pancake were very good. It’s very tasty. Banana and apples is the best fruit ever.

I have not been here yet but do like the reviews and I really like the way the owner addresses complaints. Offering to make it up to unsatisfied customers is above and beyond what most places are willing to do. I'll be there soon for some hot pancakes.

Great customer service even though it was really hard to understand one of the girls at the front counter, but she was very nice. Pancakes were delicious and they played great music.

Pretty good pancakes but super long wait even though the cafe wasn’t busy at all. We waited about 50 minutes before the food arrived.

Severely understaffed and poor service. They were pretty busy and told us that it would take 20-30mins for the pancakes to be made. Ended up waiting for an hour just to be told that we needed to wait another 20 mins. Asked what's taking so long, staff just gave us a ‍️ nudge and said it'll be done soon. So we left instead. Just awful.

Nice and clean cafe. Service was slightly slow as I ordered a latte and a small pancake. It seemed the latter was forgotten, but the staff quickly fixed this.
Pancake was fluffy with a nice matcha filling. Convenient location to get some work done.

We got 6 pancakes and fridged the box right away when we got home. We ate them after dinner and the taro smelled sour, like it turned bad. We have never had this issue with taro or other flavours before. Upon taking one bite, we had to spit it because it did in-fact taste like it went bad, and possibly was an older pancake. The soufflé pancake was also not as fresh-looking or tasting as other pancakes. Very disappointed as it is not cheap and seems to be smaller in size. I called the store when this happened and I am still waiting to get a call back. I will not be returning to this location or establishment again.

Edit 2: I emailed them my concerns as requested, along with photos of the pancake in question, and they replied back within a day or so. They apologized and said they found the staff responsible. They also offered hot pancakes and a drink at their expense on my next visit. I appreciate that they not only look at these reviews but also were able to offer a solution!

Extremely long wait time, with 2 workers and only 3 people waiting in front of me i waited for more than 25minutes. I came to dine in but the QR codes on the table were not working. So i asked a female employee who had very poor English skills how i was supposed to order, which she only answered my question with yes and no. The worker ordering would take one order and go make it, resulting in dine in customers waiting in line. Poor service compared to other locations

Wow my first time in here. Stopped in to grab my 2nd cup after shopping. The service utterly fantastic! All I got was an Americano but the guy super friendly!

First time trying Gram Cafe was in Osaka in 2018. So when they opened in Vancouver, I couldn’t wait to try it. The menu is almost the same. We had the London Fog Tea Party Pancake and the Caramelized Banana Pancake. Both were very fluffy and deliciously good the aroma of earl grey infused whip cream is out of this world. This Kingsway located wasn’t too busy, and that’s too bad. These are some of the best soufflé pancakes in town.

My friend and I really enjoyed our lunch at Gram Cafe on Kingsway. It was both our first time there.
We were both pleasantly surprised by the food. We each ordered the Sando combo which I thought was a very great price as it came with a sandwich, salad, soup and a coffee.

The pancake sando filling was very flavourful. The pancake itself was fluffy and moist. I really loved the clam chowder that came with my combo. It was a decent meal for under $15.

I would go back to try the rest of their menu.

Super fluffy and delicious pancakes
Original pancake is a must order! The Beef Wagyu Sandro (Wagyu Beef wrapped in pancake) is also a must try! Flavorful and tender Wagyu beef with perfect sweetness pancake - a bit of sweet and savory Would definitely come back again!

Popped into this place looking for fresh soufflé pancakes but they only had the pre-made ones available. The cold pancakes didn’t quite hit the mark as some of the expected fluffiness of a soufflé pancake was lost after sitting in the display case. The matcha cream filling was ok but could use more intensity of flavour. The original is a classic and good for those who like subtle flavours. The drinks were on the sweet side despite reducing the sugar levels to half. Would like to try a hot pancake when it is available. Staff was nice and cordial. Ambiance is quite relaxing with great natural lighting and spacious seating.

Kingsway location is highly recommended. They prepare pancakes fresh after you order. The premium parfait is a must try. Excellent customer service and beautiful store.

I came in after a rain walk to a nearby store and wanted to have something to sip on along the way home. I order a Brown Sugar Pearl Fresh Milk Tea. Boy was it good. The kind guy serving me the drink carmellized the brown sugar he put on the top with some sort of brown sugar melts through out. The top of that drink was amazing, and the rest of the drink tasted heavenly as the brown sugar coasted along my mouth comfortably. Not super overwhelming nor underpowered for a bubble tea. The flavour was on point and I would love to get it again

One complaint I would have is just the texture of the pearls being tough, but I am sure that may be because it was at a weird time in the evening, meaning they weren't fresh out of the pot. Otherwise the rest of the drink was excellent and I will be trying different ones when I go by again.

It's a very nice looking place, but a little bit on a pricey side. I came in hoping to eat some souffle pancakes, but a portion costs around 17$, so instead I decided to try their souffle sandwiches. I really liked the one with taro filling and will definitely come back just to grab some more of that. The bubble tea was super sweet despite asking for 50% sugar.
Overall I think it's a place worth visiting!

They're offering the souffle pancakes now and theyre really tasty! I was recommended to eat it fresh at the cafe but I lived a short walk away so I got it take out style. It was really well packaged and neat, they include a lot of different sauces.

There might be a bit of a wait because I think they make it fresh and there was also only 2 people behind the counter, but service was very nice and friendly. I'd definitely go there again to satisfy a sweet tooth

Pancakes themselves are very light, but cream are a bit heavy, so good combination!

The coffee tasted horrible. I came on a Tuesday morning and had to wait 10 minutes for a cup of coffee. It took awhile for the cashier to even take my order. I ordered a large latte and It was sour and the milk wasn't frothed. Felt like I just drank sewer water mixed with milk. I decided to give this place a chance since Kings Coffee closed across the street but ended up very disappointed.

Just recently opened. This was my first Japanese pancake experience, and it was delicious! We shared the 5-pack and all the flavors were very vivid and unique. Great service as well.

My wife and I came to the store 5 minutes before they close but still receive excellent service from the store manager- Steven and his staffs. Cakes and drinks are nice too. Highly recommend this place!

The pancakes are yummy. Would be great if they decided to make them fresh. They’re fluffy and has great salt sweet taste to them.

The pancakes here are definitely worth the $3.50. Super fluffy outer layers with creamy filling. The service and communication between the staff however is lacking. First of all, there were way too many workers in the kitchen granted we went at 3pm which may have been a shift change. When the staff took our order of 5 pancakes and a raspberry black tea, we didn't receive an order number and they also did not ask whether or not it was for take-out. What ended up happening was one of the employees had to walk out of the kitchen in order to confirm our order with us and ask us whether we would like to eat in or take out. When it came time to pick up our order, we noticed that our raspberry black tea was missing so we had to wait another 5 minutes for them to make one.

For future reference if they ever read this review, I would recommend that for take out orders, the cashier box the pancakes while taking the customers order to avoid confusion later on. It would also help to provide the customers a number or some other proof of purchase so your employees don't need to verify whether the order is correct with the customers.tl;dr: pancakes were very good, the service and communication was bad but that is expected of any new store/franchise.
