Sadly, I lost my 14 year old beloved Yorkshire/Silkie Terrier Cross Casey on October 23rd, from nasal cancer, 3 days shy of his 15th birthday. Casey was a rescue and we had 14 wonderful years together.
I have been taking my pets to Granville Island Veterinary Hospital for close to 35 years.
The level of compassion, empathy, kindness and care I have received from Dr. Cynthia Rose and Robbin over the loss of Casey has been beyond measure. The entire staff have been so caring and kind.

The staff at GIVH literally saved our girl's life twice this year, and got us through an extremely tough situation. You could not find a more competent and compassionate group of professionals to care for your furry friend! All procedures and costs are discussed in advance, and all the doctors take their time explaining their diagnosis and treatment plan. We are so glad we found GIVH!

Just stopped by to pick up a prescription for a little Chihuahua, found the staff to be friendly and efficient. I also got the impression that it was a loving, caring place to bring your pet

GI Vet have taken care of our dogs for decades and the care is excellent. If only our human health care system was half as caring!

Being a first time puppy/dog owner, I’ve asked many friends and relatives on what vet clinic they recommended in combination with reading reviews and asking public forums. They all recommended Granville Island Vet and I’m glad I decided to go here. Pixie came here for her vaccinations and checkups and the first time she met Dr. Rose, she was greeted with lots of cuddles and treats! Dr. Rose is always very patient when I ask her a list of questions and she’s also very personable and easy to talk to so I appreciate her great bedside manner in dealing with both Pixie and me!

Front desk staff are also very nice and one time when I called Into the office to ask about whether I should bring pixie in immediately due to some stomach issues she was having versus trying some home remedies to see if it might help, they were able to get a vet (can’t remember who) to call me back later in the day and she suggested the home remedy first. The reason this sticks out to me is that with other vets I’ve visited, the first thing they’d tell me to do when my Pixie was experiencing stomach issues was to bring her in for an exam and then they’d immediately issue her medication which for a puppy as young as she is (at the time, she was only 11 weeks old), I was concerned about giving her more antibiotics since she had already been on a week’s worth of medication prior to me picking her up from her breeder and then an additional week’s worth when I brought her home as her stomach issues were so persistent. I appreciate that the staff took my concerns into account and suggested we try a more natural remedy before needing to use more medication and didn’t charge me for a vet visit to tell me this information (which I can very easily see other vet offices doing).

Dr. Ignacio and the staff at Granville Island Vet Hospital are amazing. Dr. Ignacio's diagnosis and recommendation for our cat was spot on and our cat is so much happier now that he's had the procedure done. I was very nervous & worried but both the staff & Dr. Ignacio called me personally to update me every step of the way and checked in post procedure, which was a huge relief. I definitely feel comfortable & confident in their care of our furry family member.

Great veterinarian clinic - our cat needed dental work and this went smoothly with no problems. They updated regularly and even sent pictures - so relieving to see!

I have a pretty easy dog and she has no fear or issues with going to the vets at all. The staff are kind and friendly and seem to know who my dog and I are when ever I call. My dog had a rare issue and they are quick to fit us in when needed and fill refill prescriptions quickly. There is ample parking which is also a plus.

This place is amazing - all the staff from vets, vet techs to reception. They are kind, supportive and so many examples where they've gone above and beyond. They have fit my dog in for an emergency, and accommodate her sensitivity around other dogs without making me feel bad. They always give balanced advice, and very thorough care. We usually see Dr Rose or Dr Ignacio and I can't say enough good things about them. We used to live in the neighbourhood but even moving away and a longer drive, its totally worth it to go there.

Very pleasant and helpful on the phone. Was looking for a vet for an injured bird and they provided several excellent references for me to try!

I called up today with a last minute request, the staff were so very lovely and understanding. They went out of their way to help me when they really didn’t have to. I believe I spoke with Nadine on the second call, I’m not sure who I was speaking with on the first call but you are all fantastic. Thank you, from Mel & Eddie.

Dr Ignacio has been my vet for about 10 years. I want to thank him so much for his care and compassion. He is by far the most amazing vet I have ever had. I recently put my dog down and he called me the next day and his words brought me so much comfort. He listened to me and spoke to me about my concerns. He reassured me I made the right decision. He truly cares. Thank you Dr Ignacio and the team at Granville Island vet. I am so grateful to you all.

Professional and compassionate care. Dr Chen is quite amazing, just as the rest of staff! She kept us in the loop about the treatment and well-being of my cat while hospitalized. She explained the procedures, possible issues and results of treatment, displaying deep empathy to my cat and us, the "parents"! Definitely recommended to family and friends!

So kind to the animals, which is a requirement in my mind for the animals continued good health.

3 attempts on 3 different occasions to buy some product. Can't speak for the Veteranarians but the counter staff are horrendous, rude and not helpful whatsoever. It is easier to buy a new car at a car dealership than it is yo buy a bag of dog food from this clinic. The ridiculous hoops you must jump through to get a simple answer is far from worth dealing with this place especially when there are better clinics nearby who are professional and helpful. Boo

Bottom line this place is the best i have been too.will never use any other vet

Professional and kind. My dog is very shy of the vet and the staff and vets are so sweet and patient with him.

Staff very rude you can’t buy medications Without want exam on your pets before getting any medication. Even if you know the symptoms.

This is hands down the best vet experience I have had. My cat needed to have their teeth cleaned and after hunting around vancouver I decided to come to the Granville Island Veterinarians based on the reviews.

First visit:
just a check up but with an added touch that showed how much they truly cared for Seven Potatoes (my cat). I took him to the vet in his cat backpack. After the appointment, my vet came out wearing it say she always wanted to go hiking with a cat. Had a good laugh but was also very professional and told me in a lot of detail her opinion.

Teeth cleaning:
Your pet goes into surgery so it's always a bit concerning. They walked me through what would happen, offered to call if they needed to check in during and also said I should call at any time. After the surgery they gave me a 2 page detailed list of what he went through and instructions for home care. The vet called me and read it to me outloud and let me ask questions. They also followed up a number of times asking if he was ok.

Generally, you get the sense that they are really well equipped to give the best care for the cat and also make you feel that you can do the same once your animal is at home. Can't say enough good things.

Great place! Curb side service and booking is all effortless. Staff are all courteous, educated, and detailed in their conduct. I appreciate their ability to answer any questions I have and to outline expectations, timing, and procedures.

Loki has been a patient for 13 years and he has always received amazing care from his Vets.

Dr. Rose genuinely cares about Loki and I will have no one else looking after Loki as long as we are going there.

The only veterinary clinic where I am not fighting to get my furry baby in! Staff is extremely friendly, knowledged, and the level of care is first class.

Dr. Chan and the staff are some of the nicest people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting/chatting with. So kind, patient and helpful! You can tell they all so genuinely love animals and love their jobs. Not pushy, very understanding and super reasonable rates!

I have waited a month for our appointment that should happen tomorrow. They called me today to confirm, and to explain that I will have to wait outside while my cat is in the appointment. I don't have a car, tomorrow will be raining, and I understand the extra care with the COVID-19, but there isn't a single room where people can wait, using masks with a 2m distance? I have waited one month, and at the beginning, it was not that bad, but I am happy that I find another place that has a room where I can wait for a couple of minutes while a veterinarian looks at my cat.

I've been a client of Dr Ignacio since before he was at GIVH and followed him there from his previous practice. He has been there for amazingly good and amazingly tough times with my dogs and I trust him and the rest of the GIVH team totally

Outstanding on every level! I have been a client for 15 years. Dr. Ignacio has been the primary care veterinarian for three of my dogs. He is very experienced, knowledgeable, thorough, empathetic and has a very caring and compassionate approach to his patients’ needs. In his absence, I have dealt with the other veterinarians and they all deliver quality care and are amazing. The technicians and reception staff are attentive, work very hard to ensure their patients’ needs are met and they are absolutely lovely. This hospital is exceptional and I highly recommend it for your animal’s primary care.

Dr. Silver was great with my little guy. Lot parking, accessible, clean facilities, and friendly staff.

Dr. Rose and everybody else at GIVH are the absolute best! My boy gets super scared of most vets, but has never been even remotely nervous walking through their doors.

Dr. Chan is my two kitten’s doctor. She is professional, and always very patient and helpful with our concerns. I decided to stay with Dr. Chan even I moved far away from that neighbourhood, since she is trust worthy and really takes good care of both of my kittens.

This place saved my dog's life when he was 5 years old (I had taken him to other vets previously and they couldn't figure out what was wrong. Granville Island Vet was able to quickly identify the issue and help my dog). It's also the only place that he for some reason never got nervous to walk into. He always happily followed the vet to the back room, which is something he never did at any other hospital I tried. A good friend of mine had volunteered here and she vouched for the good service in the back room where the public can't see what they're doing- she said everyone in the back were just as sweet and gentle as they were at the front.

I recently had to put down my dog at 15 years old (same dog), and the vet and staff were all incredibly compassionate and I can't thank them enough for their sensitivity through this tough time.

This is the clinic we bring our two cats to. The vets are professional and care tons about keeping our kids happy and healthy. I highly recommend using the vet clinic!

They have always taken great care of our little dog Winston. They have always been truthfully and we never felt pressure from them to get something done we were not sure about. Dr Rose is absolutely amazing, she is extremely knowledgeable and also kind and sweet Winston.

Did not have a good experience with teeth cleaning services from a female vet here - needs to work on technical skills in my opinion. She was however friendly with my dog in exams. Support staff too was always nice and friendly.

They are not the cheapest vet in town but they take exceptional care of my dog.so much so that he runs into the clinic and not out. The vet's also take the time to listen and answer any questions you may have.

All the vets are great here! They really care about your pet. Service is always exceptional. Clean bright facility.

Kind & caring staff and doctors. Very thorough. They will take the time to explain everything to you and dont rush for more tests or meds unless necessary. Free parking right beside thier doors for easy transporting of your pet. Small selection of specific cat and dog foods.

We've taken 3 senior cats here, the service is always excellent, the medical opinions are always explained in detail (if you ask). Note though that knowledgeable opinions require tests results so don't be surprised if things cost a bit more than other places.

I love love all the vets and special shout out to dr rose! What makes this place especially special is the front desk team. They ALWAYS go above and beyond for Romeo and o am so grateful for them.

After a tough search finding a good vet, we found our safe place at Granville Island Vet. Dr. Rose and the team are smart, kind, patient and understanding. The staff is friendly and dependable. They know me and my pets and take wonderful care of us. This clinic is extremely cost effective and do not push unnecessary services. Granville Island Vet has the highest standard of care and compassion I have ever experienced at a vet. I would recommend this vet before any other and cannot say enough good things about them!

This is Lukin’s vet and I find all the staff there to be professional and friendly. I had to take him in and his regular vet wasn’t available but the vet who helped us was great as well. Even though my only complaint about my dogs health was a vague ‘he gets tired and makes noise when he breathes’ she examined Lukin thoroughly. Even though she didn’t find any obvious evidence of sickness, she gave me all of the treatment options available and explained what each would do. I wasn’t pressured to choose anything. In the end I decided to go with the more expensive options but it was worth it to find out what was wrong with Lukin. The staff has been good about supporting any questions I have regarding his hypothyroidism.

Always professional and accommodating, Both the front office staff and Vets come across with genuine concern. We've been going there for seven years now with nothing but good things to say about pretty much the whole place.

I really like the location and convenience of this vet clinic. I do not like the turnover in veterinarians. It’s been constant over the years which is concerning. The consistent is Robin in the front office. She’s wonderful and has been a staple there since I started going over ten years ago. I am not sure if I will return to this place because I’d like our dog to see someone who gets to know them throughout their life and the turnover rate here doesn’t give much confidence in that. Otherwise, I’ve been mostly satisfied with their services.

Took my dog in for an anal gland check. Thanks to vet Ignacio left with a dog with an injured back leg. Incompetent and didn't even apologize. Never again. Stay away. Just read reviews on yelp. Wish I had before.
