The service is quick, attentive and thorough.

Amazing little locally owned cafe spot. Really appreciate the owner and staff's friendly demeanor and the fact that they share doggie treats with our pup when we visit:) They have, in my opinion, some of the best coffee in town, and also their breakfast sandwiches are unreal. Love this place! Keep up the good work.

Just had the soup bowl with rice noodles and curry! It was so good I crushed it in two minutes. Located down by the water on the quay. Also got an oat chai latté. The perfect lunch. Vegan options gluten free options super healthy but also super tasty. Sandwiches were made on sourdough bread from The Nook bakery. Will definitely be coming here every port trip.

I'm pleased to bestow upon this eatery the rhapsodic rating it deserves. The food is yumtastic, the people are friendly and funny, and the prices are entirely reasonable. It's little wonder, then, that my wife and I pick up grub at Grassroots several times a week. I give this establishment my most enthusiastic endorsement!

Just…amazing! Who knew a spiced chicken wrap or a braised beef sandwich could be so heavenly? Secret sauces, homemade condiments- I’m craving a return visit already! Oh- did I mention the BEST COOKIE I’ve EVER HAD? Salted chocolate… reverie…

Everytime I am in the area I make a point of stopping by for some food and a coffee. They always manage to do a great job with everything they do!

This place is a hidden gem down by the water in Port Alberni. Amazing fresh food, desserts, and tasty drinks. My personal favourite is the Mango Lassi smoothie with yogurt and cardamom. Keep up the great work.

Amazing little cafe! The place is so charming. Everything is made in house, and fresh from the garden. The owner is really lovely and charismatic! Such a good experience. I definitely recommend it to everyone!

So happy this place is here. Hands down the best fresh food in town. Over a couple visits I’ve had the Smoked Steelhead sandwich, Spicy Chicken Pita Wrap, Inari Pocket and the Roasted Butternut Squash soup and they all featured fresh quality ingredients and great flavour, handmade in-house. Excellent espresso coffee too. I hope they see lots of success and can grow into a larger place with indoor seating (smart to start with lower overhead costs!).

This is the best soup and sandwich I’ve had in a very long time - mainland food options included. The ingredients are beautifully balanced relying on flavor and quality, and not on fats, salts, or sugars. It’s very obvious to me that the chef and creator of this food has experience in top notch fine dining and is able to translate that background effortlessly into a variety of sandwiches, wraps, and soups. They also serve coffee. This is a must stop and definitely worth a detour.

Probably my favorite latte on the entire island. Service is amazing and it's in a beautiful spot next to a playground so great when the kids need some time to play!

Hidden gem and delightful new spot. You can tell there’s love, artistry, and attention to detail put into the space and the food. Everything I tried was delicious, super fresh, and wholesome. The owner, who made my meal, was was awesome. Wish I was local so I could make it my go-to cafe but it was a wonderful surprise while traveling.

This is a fabulous cafe in the pretty harbour area of Port. We had a lemonade made with coconut milk one day and a special salad another day which was filling and delicious.

If you haven’t been here yet, you need to go! Delicious and nutritious food, fantastic service and an awesome location! We chatted with the owner and she is so sweet and personable. Will definitely be back!

Wow what a place. Such amazing food and great coffee, right on the beautiful front. Amazingly friendly people who brightened our day.
