Gringo Davie Street

I’ve been wanting to come to gringo since before the pandemic, and had finally gotten the chance to drop by and try the food and honestly I’m disappointed. I dropped in for dinner and the guy was super overworked having to manage the counter and the food at the same time, It’s commendable that he held on until two more workers had showed up to help. The service was slow no doubt (they had warned us), and no fault to the staff but they had also prioritized delivery orders over the in house guests which made us have to wait over 45 minutes for food to arrive.
If it was really too difficult to handle the delivery orders on top of serving the customers it would have been much better to have closed uber/door dash until more help had arrive or until they managed to tackle the current backlog of orders.
The tables had not been cleaned before arriving, and I saw the staff grab some cleaning supplies right before making food.

Now into the actual food. The tacos were dry, no sauce at all, no flavour, the mixed drinks were watery and the burrito had barely any meat. I had really high hopes for the food as gringo had been popping off on tiktok and I had passed by the gas town location plenty of times and the food had always smelled great.
The bill was pretty steep for Mexican food too. Given the circumstances I can understand the service since they did the best they could but having the food taste bad is not excusable. For the sake of the future costumers
I hope this locations management learns from this constructive criticism and improves, however, I wont be coming back.

Nice cozy and funky place in the middle of downtown. They have a wide variety of drink options (both alcoholic and non alcoholic). Good mexican food (portion size is also decent). Good place to socialize with friends.

A good place to get a cheap eat. Got two tacos and a drink for less than $20 and you will be filled.

Went during happy hour, it was not busy.

Amazing customer service, presentation was perfect and the flavour was exquisite will definitely coming back

1. I came here after midnight and their food is so so - I am not a big fan of Mexican food.but this one was not anything special for me! Maybe it's better to go during lunch hours?

2. I got the chicken bowl $14 and added guacamole and sour cream on top for $3 more - nutrients are in place but I feel that it was a little overpriced for the portions. Not a good bang for your buck.maybe go for a burrito instead of bowl next time.

3. Staff are friendly, happy, kind and caring.

Super friendly staff, food prices are fair for portion size.

To improve: Margaritas are expensive for the size, they are like a shot size. Their quesadillas menu is confusing.

So much better experience overall than other tex-mex places, those in kitsilano for example.

I would eat here again.

We went to the place for a good atmosphere. We were served by 18$ cost natchos chips in small pieces. We need to spoon it to eat. Tacos are good.

I got the chicken soft tacos with sour cream and guacamole and OMFG! They were AMAZING! TOTALLY FULLY LOADED! BUT… very messy so make sure you get a few napkins! But it’s super delicious, cheaper than other taco places, and such a good satisfying meal! Yum yum yum

I liked the feel of the place overall. The kung fu taco was disliked by my friend and I and not what we were expecting though.

Nice place to chill out with your gang.

The atmosphere is very nice. Great music, great vibes. The food was so bland! I love mexican and was very disappointed with the food. We had some tacos and the Encino quesadilla. They also charge you $3 each for a side of sour cream or Pico which is the same as a taco. The service could have also been better. They didn't really seem to care that we weren't happy with the food.

Best food I have ever had, had the tacos and I can honestly say that I will be coming back here so much. The service was impeccable and the chicken taco was phenomenal.

Great food terrible service. Never underestimate the effect of treating one person poorly.

4 tacos packed on top of eachother in a tiny box that arrived as a hot mess. Couldn't pick anything up, had to just pick at it with a fork. The 3 pieces of lime, presumably for squeezing on top, became part of the mess. 2 random bites with a big chunk of lime.

Burrito tasted like a crusty sock. 90% rice, 10% meat, 0% everything else the say goes in there. So drryyyyyy

Great cheap beer and tacos. 80s and 90s music. Kinda like being at a tourist beach bar in Mexico without actually being at a beach or in Mexico.

Thank you SO much to the Gringos team for taking care of my birthday with all the ladies. We were VERY entertained. Highly recommend for all your taco and marg needs

Incredible experience at Gringos for my friends birthday. The most delicious food, buckets of cocktails and churros! The staff were so accomodating and friendly, they played 90s tunes for us all night! Will definitely be back, have found my new favourite Mexican restaurant in Vancouver!

Great food. Good quality. When dining in. WAY TOO LOUD. I know I just yelled at you in a review. But that is what you will have to do to have a convo. Unfortunately there is no sound dampening in the space. Which sucks. Because it is a nice spot.

We booked out the restaurant for the night and the staff was nothing short of amazing. They were super communicative throughout the planning and provided excellent suggestions.

Food was so good I had several guest come up to me telling me they would come back just for the food.

This place is so amazing. The tacos are so good. I had to order more after I finished my first four. I highly recommend their hot sauce and that incredibly tasty Angus beef. The service was spectacular and I will definitely be back in the near future.
