Had a lunch special here today. Sashimi is fresh too! It would be nice to have it a bit thicker lolol but it’s good. Lemon was added to give it a fresh light taste. Love that. Thank you.

I like this place’s decoration, very Japanese style makes you feel like you are in japan. I also like their food and their price is cheap.

The sea urchin and salmon rice bowl cost 50 dollars. The sea urchin smelled like pig. Is it because of the variety? Really accept incompetence. The accompanying miso soup was too salty to drink. The crab roe cooked in the carapace is very fishy. The beef hot spring egg udon tastes very good, but I also think it's a bit salty. Tang Yang chicken nuggets have always been delicious and of stable quality. My daughter has always been a fan of this restaurant, but after today's meal, she switched fans. What a pity. The decoration style of the store is very Japanese and the service is very good. Unfortunately, the food has a high rate of duds.

The price is on the high side. The seafood is very fresh and the portion is very generous. The service is very friendly and helpful.

If you like raw fish dishes, you shouldn’t miss this restaurant! My two sons also enjoy their rice bowl and udon. We highly recommend this one!

Used to come a lot before my daughter was born. Finally got a chance to visit again after 5 years. Things changed a lot but it still the Gyo-O I remembered. I enjoyed the food and the service here. The salmon Toro don is tasty. Hopefully I won't have to wait too long for my next visit!

Very small restaurant with limited number of seats. My daughter and her friends came by late December but were turned down due to no reservation. We took our chances and went on first weekend in January and only had to wait 10 minutes for a table. Servers were nice and service was fast.

I always get the gyu don with onsen egg here - great taste and amount for price! Highly reccomend this place

Cannot believe I am still dining here after more than a decade of dining in this little gem. Richmond is full of fake Japanese restaurants run by Chinese. This is one of the few authentic Japanese ones left. Honestly the food quality is not as good as pre COVID, but I still appreciate that it is still here. Keep it up!

I have been going here for as long as I can remember… almost a decade! I always order the seafood yukke don — highly recommend! The portions are on the smaller side for the price but the quality sashimi and fresh ingredients make up for it.

This place is great for any udon lovers. I ordered the udon with soup and the broth was sweet and delicious. The texture of the udon was perfect. I do wish the tempura had a bit more flavour. My niece loves udon and this has now became her favourite restaurant to go to. We will definitely be back when we're in Richmond. Staff were very friendly as well.

Unfortunately this restaurant is a shell of its former self. The food isn’t as good as it used to be when I used to come here a few years ago…and they don’t have their tuna mayo don anymore which was one of my favorite dishes on their menu because they did it differently than everywhere else: (

Our favourite place for a quick but flavourful Japanese meal, this restaurant never fails to satisfy our craving. We ordered some tempura don, chicken karaage and gyoza. Each bite was filled with flavour. Prices up slightly but still worth every penny. Awesome staff too.

A wide variety of udon and donburi options. Our kids definitely enjoyed the meal.

Prawn tempura udon was good. The broth was just right: nice and light. Beef nabeyaki udon was HOT Maguro Yukke Don (Ahi tuna) was also very good.

The items are well portioned and relatively cheap. Would definitely bring the family back here again.

My fave udon in Metro Vancouver! Love the portion of salad and seafood. Definitely the right and healthy choice for summer.

Delicious! I had the unagi gohan onsen donburi and it was so satisfying, tender, and the egg was perfect.

Bad service ever. Most of things on the menu are sold out, you only have a few choice. The restaurant is too small, it’s also cold inside. There is no background music, I can hear other people’s conversation very clearlyYou have to wait a long time until a staff to notice you are calling them. So disappointed. You have to remind the staffs multiple time in order to add more water.

Super good! We really enjoyed our food here. I haven't had donburi this good in a long time. I like the self serve tea as well. They definitely deserve more than 4 stars for their overall score.

Although I have been to Gyo-O quite a few times with friends, I was there by myself yesterday night for the first time and did not have to wait for a seat. The staff was very friendly and had asked for the vaccine card and photo ID upon entering.

They happened to have uni yesterday, so I decided to give the Uni Don a try. I was amazed at how the texture was buttery and smooth and the flavour was sweet for all the Uni that were in that bowl. To me, although the price was not cheap, it was worth the price based on the experience I had in general, and the amount of food was just right.

I will definitely come back again, regardless if it’s by myself or with acquaintances.

It's changed quite a bit over the last few years but if you're looking for some good seafood Ramen this place is a trustworthy vibe

We come back constantly for the yukke-don. It's just so tasty. I've been dining here for years and as expected, the price keeps increasing, but no other place does it like Gyo-O for yukke-don. Also really good appetizers. I'd skip the udon tho; you don't come here for that.

Good atmosphere, good food, and pleasant staff. Portions are a tad small, but overall a nice experience.

This place has cool decor that makes you feel like you are in a busy street in Japan. I had the Seafood Yukke Don. What was good is that the salmon and tuna sashimi was super fresh and clean tasting. The onsen egg was also nice, runny, and creamy.

However, the soy seafood mix and the flavors of the overall don in my opinion did not go well together and the flavor of the dish was not so great or enjoyable overall. Could be less salty and pungent. The miso soup was standard miso soup.
I have had better for a $20.00 price.

They do have interesting bento options that seem worth trying though.

Cilantro chicken gyoza was suprisingly good. Like the way it was presented. Tuna toro is freshly prepared. Will definitely return.

Overall is not bad, but the portion is a little small compare to the price. The seared saba battera tastes really good, but the squid was so so. The ramen broth is too plain for me, which was a little disappointing. The toro don tastes good, but again the portion is small. With the price range, I was expecting somewhere better than this, so probably won’t go there anymore.

What an experience it was! The quality of the fish is like out of the park. We took otoro sashimi and oden bowl as an appetizer. Both were amazing specially the fish and oden broth was superb. The Main dish were so tasty as well. Definitely coming back here.

An unassuming, yet authentic, Japanese joint in Richmond. They are known for their don (rice) bowls, and this is the Seafood Yukke Don, with chopped tuna, salmon, mixed sashimi, topped with an onsen egg. Always freshly prepared, reasonable price for the dishes they offer, and generous portions! I definitely would recommend this place if you are nearby!

Got the yukke bowl, but unfortunately found a bone in the fish. Flavour was kind of weird, since it was a mix of shredded and raw/cooked seafood.

Is expensive but super good. Try it at least once. The ingredients are fresh as hell. Fun place to go to.

I really like the decoration of the restaurant，and the vibe of dinning here is almost as closed as the scene in the drama “孤独のグルメ”～ They also provide some daily specials order for those who enjoy to taste the umami of seafood

Great little place to go for lunch or dinner. Go here mainly for their rice bowls. They also have special features that have always been tasty. Good portion sizes, good flavors and reasonably priced. Sashimi based dishes are a bit pricey though

Clam butter ramen and spicy salmon bowl are our go to’s. Salmon always tastes fresh.
I’ve also had the tempura lunch box (shrimp tempuras, chicken karrage, takoyaki balls and grilled mackerel- it’s a bit pricy but worth the selection you get.

Love going in for a quick and simple meal. I loved how fast their service was.

What I didn't like was that we still had to self serve our teas. It felt a little bit unsanitary.

Food was pretty good, but I had a disastrously long 40 minute wait time for my seafood udon. I find that unacceptable, however, it is probably a fluke as my fellow diners received their salmon donburi in a timely manner. The food was good, although a bit pricey for the portions. Parking is plentiful and free, and location is within a quick walk of a Skytrain station.

Try it if you have time, it isn't a horrible place, but will not be on any lists any time soon.

Came here for the first time, really wanted to like this place as I love the decor and atmosphere. Unfortunately, the yukke don was so salty with the heavy sauces I could barely taste the seafood.
I hope it was just a fluke and will give it another shot sometime.

If you’re tired of eating ramen, but still craving for Japanese hot soup - then this is the place to go. They have the best Udon and Chawanmushi, and a lot of other food selections. The place is so cute, the decorations and the authentic Japanese food will definitely bring you to Japan.

most restaurants in the city have a no outside drink or food rule.it is not hard to understand.if staff told me kindly to follow the rules of THEIR restaurant that i am visiting, it should be done.from my past experience of being at this restaurant, all the staff have been kind and understanding.they were always willing to accommodate or help if there was a miscommunication between each other.

Service and atmosphere are excellent. All the dishes I've had here were great so far, if not a tad pricier than I expected. Wish I lived closer!

I've been coming here since 2011 and it's still an amazing Japanese restaurant. For anyone who likes clam, I'd highly recommend the Clam Miso Butter Corn Ramen! Cooks have changed over the years but quality remains wonderful and service is always great!

Good seafood at a reasonable price. It gets busy sometimes and seating is limited but if you go at the right moment, you'll find a seat quite quickly. Food is mostly donburi (rice bowl) or noodle (udon). The seafood yukke don is by far the best and most popular item there.

The food here and atmosphere are good. We had the seafood yukke don, it was a little bit too salty, but it wasnt overbearing. Servers are nice, check in regularly and refill your water without having to ask.
