I’ve been coming to H20 since opening day however many years ago. It used to be the best aquatic centre in the valley.

I want to start out by saying the staff at the front desk were awesome. Super friendly and accommodating, my issues are not with the staff, but the facilities.

I went there last week, only to find the prices for entry to the aquatic centre have doubled, which is fine, everything is more expensive these days, but if you’re charging $13 to enter, you expect a certain level of cleanliness and you expect the facilities you’re paying for to be open and available for use.

As soon as you walk into the changing rooms, both doors to the private changing areas are hanging off their hinges, one was completely missing, the floors were beyond scummy and slimy, which I understand happens at the pool, but for $13 per person you hope they have someone cleaning these changing rooms frequently.

There was a pair of shorts on the ground that someone had clearly had an accident in, which remained on the ground for the entire two hours I was there (still there when I left) meaning for 2+ hours nobody had even gone in there to check.

You get into the pool area and find out the adult hot tub is closed, and the main pool for swimming laps (the reason I went) was closed for no reason.

Surely you should let your paying customers know that half the facilities are closed before they enter so they can decide if they still want to drop the $13 to go in, but no.

The next day, I woke up to the nastiest swimmers ear I’ve had in 32 years, only to go the doctors and be asked, “we’re you at H20” because apparently this is a common occurrence.

What happened to H20? This is supposed to be the Okanagan premier aquatic centre, and it just seems to have gone drastically downhill. Parkinson’s Rec and Johnson Bentley both have cleaner facilities and you can actually use what you pay for. Will never be going back.

Favourite pool by far! Very kid friendly with a huge river pool, 3 large slides, a family friendly hot tub and a wave pool! Even a separate hot tub for the adults. Highly recommend!

This facility has today, turned away a group of disabled adults, that had traveled all the way from another city 2+ hrs away, to then be turned away because they didnt have ID.
How does that make sense? The communities program that would have booked the trip was not told that the individuals would need a piece of ID to enter the facility. On a personal level, one of the people attending this trip was my aunt, and she was incredibly excited for this trip. These adults had been waiting weeks for this trip, and for a group of disabled adults who had staff traveling with them, and constant supervision to be turned away in this manner is terrible.
Shame on the workers who were able to look at this group of excited adults and turn them away.

We spent few hours in this aquatic center and we were overall satisfied with the experience.
At entrance the reception was very polite and helpful and gave us a good impression of the facility. We used the family locker and change room that was ok. When we got in we were sad to see the slides were not working. So we tried the pools, lazy river and wave pool which were ok but not exceptional.
I was shocked by number of women who were in the pool, hot tubs, lazy river and wave pool with shirts, head scarves, pants, tunics, etc. Many of them not made from swimwear textiles. They were wearing their regular clothing and swimming. This shouldn't be allowed in a public pool. I doubt if they have taken a shower and washed their cloths before swimming. If they like to escape heat they should have a pool at home for their lifestyle or go to some less crowded beaches of the Okanagan lake.
Also the ladies with long hairs must be mandated to wear caps. I asked my daughter to come with cap and realized nobody is wearing them except some ladies that were part of a team practicing in the deep pool.

The h20 needs to have a MUCH better booking system for the public pool. We have tried to go several times on different days of the week and different hours of the day and every time we show up there is a massive line that doesn't seem to budge. I understand that there are restrictions in place for safety, but they have a booking system for the lane swim.why can't there be one in place for the public swim as well? Especially with the smoke and having kids. I left with a sad little dude today as we didn't get to swim again.

Went with friends of the family, and their friends, 12 of us in total. It was a blast for the kids, and I enjoyed the large pool and hot tubs. This place is amazing - coming from the lower mainland, I haven't seen anything as large and feature-rich as this. Lazy-river, wave pool (not as strong as a dedicated wave pool, but meant for kids), kids hot tub, adult hot tub (I appreciate not allowing kids into the adult tub), and a large pool for diving, lengths, and polo.

The wakeboarding is definitely a big plus, but it would be nice if they had a time limit instead of a try-limit to make the line go faster.
19 October 2021 12:10
The line is to big and there are kids outside waiting in the heat like why.and plus there are family's coming out and there letting know one in

Still requires lane bookings and doesn't allow lane splitting for the pool, even though City facilities like Parkinson Rec are have been completely drop-in and have allowed lane splitting for a couple of months now.

This wouldn't be as much of an issue if you could book lanes easily, but that's only possible with an expensive membership. If you're not a member, you get to either call at the crack of dawn and hope to snag a spot, or spend $12 and look forward to waiting for the 1 drop-in lane to be free.

(Original review: Like it, its fun.) (New review:) Yes, this place was impacted by Covid, but big plus due to nostalgia, i remember being called to go here, and not wanting too (because i was doing something on my computer) when at my grandparents for the summer, i wish i had enjoyed it more.

My kids love this place, the pool, the park behind the facility! The only thing is adult gym access is freakishly expensive. 10 passes over 100 dollars so a bit unreasonable but again I have never had membership here to know the difference. Hope they reduce the price otherwise this place is perfect. Top of the line equipment and decent size space even when it is busy.

Went there today with my family! Super fun and great place for all ages to swim, lots of fun for littles and also lots of great stuff for teens.

The h20 centre is a fun place that is clean and well maintained. The staff is always friendly and we always have a good time. The lazy river is really fun to swim in circles in. The wave pool is pretty fun too but a bit underwhelming.

Due to Covid, we have only been able to go in the lazy river and the children's pool area, and I feel like the prices have not been adjusted to reflect all the other things being closed. It costs about $23 for two adults to go swimming, and you have very restricted access to the features in the pool.

We went yesterday for a swim and i have to say we had to wait in line for over an hour and when we got in they wanted us to wear our masks on the pool deck and when we went to swim we were told to put our masks on a bench beside other masks.doesnt that defeat the purpose of the masks? We could get covid just by putting our masks back on.i dont think anyone there really knows what they are doing? We wont be going back until after this flu thing is over

Had couple of surprises there:

1) it's two quarters for the lock (not just one). Had the whole family with me (so family rate applied) and asked for only two quarters at the counter. Everybody undressed (in two separate rooms) and realised - we have to get another couple of quarters from the counter.
2) There is no dry sauna! Wet one doesn't do it for me at all.

I'm not not a surfer (and there is pretty cool serfing facility at H2O), so not sure when I go there again.

Really great place to go. Lots of options for the whole family. 3 great water slides and 2 very nice hot tubs (1 family and 1 for adults). Diving area, lap area, kiddy play zone, wave rider, wave water with a river which was a lot of fun️

Update:
Worst customer service ever. I have a membership. I couldn't get my daughter into swim lessons in September because it was full, I asked to register her for January, they said to call back in January. I've been calling and calling since January 2nd, I've left multiple messages. It is January 8 and they finally called back and all the lessons are full again.

Moreover, despite the fact that it's a family location there are couples using the family change room, I've seen plenty of women in thongs, and the life guards are often acting like unprofessional teenagers.

This is the worst expensive membership I've ever bought.

Pricey but alot of fun things for kids. It's too bad their pass doesn't also work at the other Y

Lots of options, family friendly. Adult only areas as well including hot tubes, steam room and sauna.
08 February 2020 14:41
Awesome for children, so many different activities. The water area is perfect for family visits
07 February 2020 5:39
Great pool but it's way too cold. We go to the pools once a week. H20 is so cold that my kids don't want to go there. It does have the best options for a variety of play

My son is taking swimming lessons here and they are the best swimming lessons he has had anywhere. He is making far more progress in this set of lessons than he did in two sets of lessons at Parkinson Rec. The instructors not only care, they are really good at teaching. They met my son where he was at and got him confident in the water instead of trying to force him to do what he wasn't ready for or ignoring him. The staff are kind over all and the facility is great.

It's a great family place and as excellent equipment. Also great staff making your great experience, so just go and enjoy your self.

In November I decided to sign up for a membership, I got a deal on it and I was planning on signing up my daughter as well in January for swim classes. They lady at the front desk was very helpful, she even saved my daughter details so I wouldn't need to come in to separately to sign her up when the class registration starts - I could just call she said. I downloaded the app, of course you need to call to activate but I was excited so I didn't think of it as hassle. Then I found out I was pregnant and I was feeling sick, so I couldn't make it to any classes in November and judging by my first pregnancy I assumed my sickness will last at least another month - so I called to take advantage of the " on hold" option for the month of December, hoping that I can start classes in January and I can take my daughter to swimming classes. I talked to a person on the phone and she asked the details to put my membership on hold and told me it was set. Then I asked if I can register my daughter for her swim class, she told me that for registration I would need to go in to h2o in person. At that point I was getting upset. I thought to myself "what kind of facility is this.they have apps, and phones but you'd need to go in person if you want to get things done - especially when I was told that I wouldn't need to". Anyway since I couldn't get this done, I was like whatever I will get it done in January. Couple days after the phone-call I have noticed they charged me for December - but I was like, maybe it was already processed before my call so probably they will just put it towards January or something. It did bug me a bit so I tried to call 2 more times during December but no luck, so I just gave up. I shouldn't have! When in December 31st I noticed a new charge from H2O on my card I was furious. So today 2nd of January I went in person to find out whats happening. The lady at the front desk (older lady with glasses-sorry forgot to look for a name tag) told me that my membership was never on hold and they don't do holds over the phone. I was shocked. I told her what happened, I even explained the reason why I put it on hold rather than cancelling. At this point I was already charged about $150 by H20 and not once have I been in the gym. I wasn't complaining as I know that November was fully on me and I thought I was on hold for December, so I am happy to be charged for January when I was gonna start attending. She said "Sorry about that, but there is no phone records or anything to prove that"- I was very very disappointed and upset, not just about the fact that I was mislead and charged for something I shouldn't have been, but for the fact that apart from the lame " sorry about that" there was zero effort to compensate or try to make me want to stay a member. Let alone the fact that my earlier thought on useless phone-calls and apps became on point with the fact that you do need to go and get everything done in person otherwise it won't get done and you might pay the price. Very middle age and not at all customer friendly service. I asked them to refund me for January and cancel my membership. The lady acted like she is doing me a favour by issuing a refund "at least I can get your money back" - lol I was like" It is the first day of the month you open of course you issuing a refund as I won't use minute of the facility in this month. The month of December is the problem which I have paid for unknowingly") - I don't want to support a facility and be a member where members are nothing else but money in their eyes. I wonder if after all this will they smack me with a cancellation fee as well? ! I wish I had a different experience and it is very frustrating, but because of this poor customer service experience I would not recommend H20.

Kids love it here. Very busy, and the entrance to the pool could be set up better, but otherwise great experience

The H2O center is run by the YMCA so that says allot about its focus on families and community support. One of the most amazing things about the center is its daycare which a drop in and is a service that is covered by your monthly pass or, and this is amazing, with a daily drop in! There is big pool, kidzone, ‘river’ ride, wave rider for boggy boarding, 2 hot tubs, steam room, and a nice gym on the 2nd floor with lots of machines and good space for different kind of work outs. I cant speak to there programs as I haven’t used them but they have all kinds. Once a month we travel all the way from Vernon because its soo great.

It's a good place to work out, and go for the swim, but just know that the place is busy all the time.
17 September 2019 17:18
Great aquatic centre! Has really great kids area with small slides as well as lanes and a diving tank. The lazy river is amazing. Great price!

One of my favorite places to take my four-year-old. A fantastic child water park and the lazy river is a great spot to hang out
09 September 2019 3:55
Great place to takes the kids, 3 water slides, wave pool and a lazy river, they also have a jugo juice, diving boards and hot tubs

Wonderful facility for the family if you ever visist Kelowna and have a rainy day. Also a great spot to workout and watch the kids in the pool (as lomg as they are old enough)
12 August 2019 9:47
Nice place both for adults and kids. We were visiting Kelowna and took our little one to this place. He had a blast at the wave pool and the baby slides. The cleanliness was ok. There is a huge parking lot available and it's shared by a public library. The only issue was that the air was heavily stuffed with chlorine, which made it hard to breathe. While it is important to use the chlorine to keep the water clean, it is also important to have a good air conditioning system in place to keep the air safe to breathe.

Great place to go any time of the year. Kids have fun and a life of activities for young and old. Only wish for the swim lessons pool to be a bit warmer for the kids.
06 August 2019 6:00
My son loved it there. Had a hard time getting to the gentle part of the lazy river. Wave wall was a blast (much harder than it looks). The water slides could do with a center rail for the line ups (I almost fell down the stairs at one point). I'll be back though

Swimming facility is very clean and has a large variety of features. The exercise gym is well equipped and spacious and clean
09 July 2019 9:23
This is a really nice pool. It's very big. The change rooms are large and usually pretty clean. There are three waterslides although they don't run all day so plan when you go accordingly. I don't recommend going in the wavepool if you get motion sickness. There's also a smoothie shop in the area and a nice bike trail behind the building with a along the trail. But overall the pool is great, especially for kids.

They literally don’t answer the phones took me a week to get through. When I did get through the young girl who answered was quite rude. Eventually spoke to a manager who was somewhat helpful but still really unimpressed with them.
11 January 2019 17:37
Was so much fun! We need a facility like this in Edmonton, we spend all the money to design and build a beautiful building with open wood beam ceiling and a simple pool inside. This place is a boring outside and amazing facility inside. Family fun all day.
