Haida Gold Ocean Adventures

Went out for a morning fish with Captain Mike the other day and had an absolute blast! Mike is super knowledgeable and his energy is is infectious. Thanks so much for the good time. I’m left with a pretty serious case of Ling Feeva brother!

Great trip! My three sons and two grandchildren really enjoyed fishing with Captain Mike. They said he was full of information and had a great personality. The salmon tasted great and was enjoyed by the entire family. The next time we are back we wa t to try one of their sightseeing trips!

Amazing day with Mike! My two teenage kids and I met Mike at the pier bright and early today and hit the water right on time. Mike knows where the fish are! We started getting bites within 5minutes! We must have gotten over 40 bites today landing maybe 1/2 of them and keeping 5 big Coho salmon that Mike cleaned up for us. Amazing experience for my kids who have never really taken to fishing before. Thanks to Mike and Haida Gold for a great morning and life long memories.

We had an amazing morning with Captain Mike! Limited out on Chinook! Great boat! Fun, safe and very professional! We would all go again for sure!

Best 4 hour fishing charter by far. 2 of us brought in 9 fish including 7 salmon. At one point I was reeling in a 9 pound chinook on the right side of the boat while 2 hump back whales were feeding off to the left side of our boat. Captain Mike did everything possible to make the day memorable. Could not ask for more. We will be back.

Spent a great afternoon with Captain Mike fishing out of Schooner Cove on Vancouver Island. He is a very knowledgeable fishing guide, full of stories about the local waters. We caught 12 of these beautiful spring salmon in only 3 hours! Highly recommended!

We went on an afternoon excursion with Haida Gold and Captain Mike and we really enjoyed the experience! Our young kids were with us and they were super enthusiastic but ultimately fell to sea sickness: (Captain Mike was very understanding and supportive, offered some coping strategies, and when we ultimately called it quits a bit early, he obviously did his best to make the ride back as smooth as possible with steering between the swells.

In the meantime Captain Mike demonstrated his knowledge of targeting various species, helped us see some amazing wildlife, provided some wonderful conversations, and all-around provided a terrific afternoon on the water!

What a great day out with Captain Mike. He was able to take us to the fish and provide enough guidance for us novices to bring the fish in. We 'landed' 13 fish and were really interested in learning about the different varieties and markings. My wife joined us as a non-fishing spectator and Mike was able to show her some seals, dolph-porpioses, birds and other creatures of the sea. Mike was great with my 83 year old father-in-law and the two of them traded fishing stories for the morning. The Nanoose location was perfect - we were fishing with 10 minutes of launching. If you are thinking of going out Haida Gold and Mike is the way to go!

Captain Mike and Christi showed us an amazing time for the Canada day fireworks show in Parksville. They are incredible hosts - knowledgeable, safe and fun to be with. I would go back out with them in a heartbeat! Thanks for a night we will remember for a long time!

Great experience all around. Captain Mike was fantastic. Couldn’t wipe grins off our faces for the days afterwards. Lots of fun memories made and they will be cherished. My kids are already talking about doing this again next year. We will be back!

We had an amazing time with Captain Mike- his boat was super comfortable and he was incredibly knowledgeable and easy to chat with. We went on the "night bite" and were not disappointed! We got to reel in lots of Chinook and a rockfish- we also saw seals and a bald eagle as it followed the boat. My kids really had a fabulous time! We wouldn't hesitate to book again with Haida Gold. Mike and his wife Kristi run a very professional service, are excellent communicators, and truly went above and beyond to give us a great experience! Wonderful from start to finish:)

We had an amazing family trip to relax after a wedding. I have done other charters on the island and this was most enjoyable and successful by far.captain mike was friendly and knowledgeable, and really made a great trip
tons of fish and very stable boat. I will be returning next summer with my visiting friends.

Wonderful day out with Captain Mike and Haida Gold. The Captain is a great teacher, story teller and knows the areas to fish. The boat is really comfortable and safe. This was our first time fishing deep water and Captain Mike made it the best experience ever. We highly and I mean very highly recommend Haida Gold out of Schooner Cove. There are accommodations right at the Marina in Schooner cove so a 6: 45am start is no problem. Along with fishing we got to see porpoise’s, Orca, and seals. What a day.
If you want a great fishing experience this is the charter.

Captain Mike is outstanding. Some guides are boring and others are so hardcore it’s not fun.

Captain Mike does it right.

He worked his tail off to get us bites and lit up like we won the Stanley Cup when we pulled in a beauty salmon.

When our kids needed a change of pace, he took us to see bald eagles, sea lions and a Totem pole he’d carved.

He was so kind when our son got sea sick.

If you’re going out with buddies to hammer fish, Captain Mike would be great. If you’re going for a relaxing time with the fam, Haida Gold is the ticket.

Kristi was wonderful with communication regarding the weather and giving us options because of it; Mike is a gem, he really knows his stuff. My only complaint is that five stars isn't a high enough rating for Haida Gold, they deserve more.

Last Monday six friends from
Nanoose Bay treated ourselves to a special evening on the Haida Gold with Captain Mike! We didn’t have far to travel to the marina but once we left dock we were on an adventure to remember. We had a comfortable cruise out to the islands where we dropped anchor in an idyllic little bay, toasting the sun as it slipped behind the horizon. The coastal mountains were glorious, reflecting ever-changing pastel colours until the sun had set. We definitely hope to take visitors on the Haida Gold at the next opportunity. Highly recommend this charter experience.

Family had a great time thanks to Captain Mike! We caught some pink salmon and coho which we enjoyed for dinner as soon as we got home. Would definitely recommend Haida Gold if you're looking for an experience on the island!

My family and I had a fabulous six hour trip with Capt. Mike. I have fished all over the world and this was as good a trip as I have had anywhere. Mike certainly is a professional and is an expert on his local waters. I was out for a birthday "fish" with my wife and son and he made it a memorable experience. The fishing was fantastic, but that turned out to be secondary to the way we were treated and the beauty of the environment. The boat is perfect for a group or family, lots of room and I'm guessing would be suitable in all kinds of weather. We were fortunate the weather turned out to be perfect for our trip (perhaps Capt Mike had something to do with that as well), it all made for a birthday I won't soon forget

My husband booked this adventure for our family of five and we loved every minute of it. From the moment Captain Mike greeted us in the marina to the time we stepped off. His knowledge and gentle and thoughtful candor was appreciated by our family…. It helps that we caught lots of fish too! Even a rare white-flesh salmon! We never got to meet Kristi but Captain Mike says she’s even more amazing so we hope to meet her the next time we return!

If I could give this business 100 stars I would! Words cannot explain how much fun our family had, captain mike and his lovely wife were so very accommodating and so kind and fun! Our family of 6 went out fishing including our 9 month old baby and 9 year old son. It was an experience of a lifetime that we will be talking about for years to come. I wish to thank Captain Mike and Kristi for a seamless ocean adventure. I highly recommend this company for a unique and excellent adventure. We took the day cruise to Jedediah Island and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Jedediah Island is an uninhabited island close to Lasqueti Island that was fun to explore. Mike, the Captain, identified points of interest along the way. It was a great day. Kristi was able to provide detailed information about the adventure options to help us make our selection. They have many other adventures to offer that we will try. Any of their Ocean Adventures would be a great way to explore the area around Vancouver Island for you or your friends and family.
