Even though we did not get to fly in the sea planes, it was just fun watching them takeoff and land. They are a highlight of the harbor because it is entertaining to the children. It’s worth the wait watching them takeoff or land.
Something changed. For the past couple years, we would be on the plane 5-10 minutes prior to departure time. The plane would take off on the dot pretty much. Staff were friendly and approachable.
Today I went and ask about a delay. The staff responded that an announcement was made earlier to indicate that I have been informed. The signage showed on- time. We will load the plane “when we are able” doesn’t give much context and as passengers we asked questions when the signage changed to delay 15 minutes later. It seems like the thing to do. Apparently, we are supposed to know.
This is the new service from Harbour air: delays with little or no information and staff doesn’t welcome questions.
The flight was really stunning, especially during the evening as the sun was lower in the sky. I would definitely recommend taking a 20 minute tour around Victoria or Vancouver if it fits within your budget.
Excellent experience flying with Harbour Air, smooth take off and landing and you can claim shotgun if it’s empty, not as loud as Helijet and not as high, so better views. Expect some delays (I’ve had 10-15min delay both ways in clear weather) and they may forget to keep you posted, so if you want to double check why they aren’t boarding your flight when it’s time, ask the check-in counter. Complimentary coffee and snacks available. Good lounge and relatively clean washrooms. Exit row on twin otter has the longest legroom if you’re over 6’2”
Did a package tour - took a seaplane to Victoria, and then a whale spotting boat trip, then return seaplane back to Vancouver. The staff could not be more helpful and friendly. My only thing I would improve on is a 'live seaplane departure and arrival board' which they could update as things happen: My reason for mentioning this is that my wife is hard if hearing and she could not make out the announcements with the background noise. I am certain that staff would have helped her if she was travelling alone. I strongly recommend taking a seaplane somewhere- just for the great experience!
Harbour Air used me for their in-flight safety video, shot in 2018 with their contract signed only for one year usage (2019). They used the video through 2022 and refused to pay me and for the extra 2 years. They ignored all requests for compensation and used my image unlawfully for 2 years. This is an unethical company that doesn't do the right thing.
Friendly, prompt and easy. Easy to navigate site, easy to book, and easy to understand boarding procedures. While awaiting our flight, we were accommodated on an earlier one that had available space. Special thanks to our very friendly pilot Adam who invited my flight nervous husband to "copilot ". My husband was thrilled and is now ready for flying lessons.
I flew from Victoria to Vancouver for a consulate visit. Both airports at the harbours are nice, not stressful and not too busy. On the way back the pilot asked me to sit as "co-pilot" of the Otter sea plane. Best flight ever over Galiano island!
Today I had the best experience in my life with Harbour air and captain Adam I really liked his experience flying and dealing with the plane in general beside the cool view definitely I’ll do it again when I come back to Victoria Wish him all the luck in his future bright career.
For a scenic ride, and to make it to Victoria from Vancouver WAYYYY faster than the ferry, you can't beat a seaplane. The seats are small, but it's a small aircraft, and it's fun to watch the pilot operate the plane. Takeoff and landing are super smooth, and you won't get better views of coastal BC. Not cheap, but everyone should experience it.
