Love this hidden gem. It's an old school steam and sweat Finnish sauna (meaning the rock stoves you can throw water onto).

Apparently the guy who owned the furnace store next door took over this place and renovated some of the rooms with fresh cedar walls. It's also gotten a fresh new paint job and most of the massage beds in the rooms are brand new. Even tho this place has been a steam sauna for over 100 years and is dated, it's got a nice charm and the OCD clean freak in me has done a close inspection and I've never seen anything dirty or smelly or gross in there. I love it here. I usually bring a speaker with me for music and some personal toiletries. You get a private room for about 35$ for an hour and a half, they give you fresh towels and a bottle of eucalyptus water for the rocks. It gets HOT in there. But soòo good for you

My favorite spa is for relaxation. I find this place, and sometimes I deserve a good treatment for my body, and this is the place I like to go. You can buy a good deal combo for 2 hours, and you will feel like sitting in clouds. Good choise also for just the sauna

I love this place! The saunas are amazing and it’s super clean. The set up is totally private, with your own shower and change rooms (with massage beds for resting) attached to the sauna. I’ve been going with a couple friends every month, it’s a relaxing and safe space for women to enjoy sauna, which I appreciate. The staff are friendly and helpful. A total hidden gem in the city.

It was my first experience in a sauna & I really liked it.
We ordered room #5 because it was only 2 of us. The setting is very private, so you don't feel anxious about strangers if you're an introvert as me.
They provide you with tools & essentials like towels, shampoo, soap & conditioner.
In our case we didn't use the lockers, however you can see the bracelets in the reception.
Even if the location might be a little discouraging, the establishment is really nice

My first experience was amazing but my more recent experience trying to send my husband here is horrible. Please fire your front desk person making it so hard to book an appointment Can’t pay over phone for someone is a red flag … told him we were sending my husband there because he is grieving his dead son and he never commented just kept talking about not knowing how he’s going to take payment. Bad bad bad customer service.

Booked a foot massage + sauna combo for 4 people for a friend’s bachelorette. The spa from the outside is a bit dated. But the inside is fresh, well kept, and clean. The staff are amazing. Chu was so accommodating in ensuring we were able to have a space to ourselves so we can have some privacy and enjoy our time. The massage was soothing and relaxing. Price point is great as well. Already planning when I’d be back here for my next service!

First time here and I enjoyed it.

My only suggestion would be to communicate to people coming in/leaving to be very quiet. I had to ask my practitioner if she could ask the people outside to keep their voice down. I think it was just a couple that either forgot or didn’t really care, but they were SO loud, laughing non stop. It was hard to relax. It doesn’t help that the lockers are right outside the massage room. So either bring ear plugs or headphones or from a business perspective, place signs on the lockers to keep voices to a minimal.

The sauna was great and private.

Went to Hastings with a few friends and felt extremely comfortable and relaxed in the clean & new cedar sauna! The whole process was simple & made me feel refreshed after a long trip. Also left with a great food rec!:)

Enjoyed my visit so much at Hastings! It was my first sauna experience and I'm a changed woman:). The deluxe four person room was so comfortable and inviting, and the tools used in the sauna were very innovative. Definitely visit on a day off!

Have had a few great initial experiences with the saunas so I'm now making it part of my routine. The facilities are clean, well appointed and exceptionally maintained; staff are friendly, knowledge, and hospitable; there's 2hr free parking out front, and the prices are super reasonable. I normally try to book in during the early bird special.

Fun Fact: I like a scorching sauna, and most I've been into don't get hot enough, but those as Hastings actually exceed my tolerance?

Was able to book a same-day appointment on a whim for my first visit. I was very impressed. The staff are friendly and helpful, everything is clean and well maintained and the experience itself was so relaxing and rejuvenating. Being able to have not just a private sauna, but a private change room and chill-out area for afterward is a welcome change from going to crowded rec centres or pricey Scandinave. It's clear the owners are passionate about their business and care about making the experience an enjoyable one for clients. I see myself becoming a regular here!

You are missing out on a local gem if you have not checked this place out! A truly relaxing experience with the most warm and inviting staff I've ever met. I can't wait to be back.

I was very disappointed with the service I received here. I live nearby and had a couple questions about how the private sauna rooms and massages worked before booking an appointment for myself and my partner. The man working at the front desk asked if I had an appointment and when I replied no but that I had a few questions and would like to book an appointment he quickly told me "we don't do tours hun" and that he couldn't answer any questions because he had "real customers to deal with". It was not busy when I came by- there was only one other person in the waiting area and two staff members at the front desk. It definitely did not seem like a professional, welcoming environment to go for a relaxing experience. I will not be returning here and definitely am no longer interested in booking regular date nights here either.

Everyone is very friendly, the massages are excellent and the steam rooms along with everything else are very clean. It may take awhile to get through but it's definitely worth the wait.

The owner Chu greeted me by name as soon as I walked in the door, his radiance and upbeat demeanour put me in a great mood.:) He showed me around and the facility is absolutely spotless. Peter gave me the works and it was just fabulous. Highly recommend this place. I will return!

What a hidden gem in Strathcona! I've now gone for reflexology, massage, and sauna with my partner and every experience has been wonderful. Great value for the money and we feel so calm and relaxed afterwards. The massage therapists are not messing around - if you tell them hard they GO HARD. The facilities are clean, modern, and comfortable with all the amenities you could want. My only suggestion would be some "rules" around voice volume downstairs (or soundproofing in the rooms?), as it was a little noisy when other guests were getting a tour of the space during our massages. Definitely not a dealbreaker though! We'll be back soon.

I had an amazing time here with my girlfriend. Staff were polite and friendly when we arrived! The baths and sauna were clean and well kept. I’d definitely recommend going if you’re looking for a cute date or even a simple relaxation session for yourself and friends.

It was my first time going for massage in Vancouver. Came across this place online, first thought it won’t be that good enough but when we entered the place It was whole different experience for me. Rite from registering myself until we enter massage room we where assisted by host. Must go if you want authentic massage from experience people.

Called for two days. Was hung up on multiple times. No call back. I had an OK experience until this happened, wasn't impressed by the customer service.

I love this place because I love to sauna. Could definitely use some work, some rooms are better than others but the staff are great and no nonsense. A great heritage establishment.

It might take you a while to get through and book over the phone since there’s only one person running the whole place at a time but I assure you that it’s so worth it! Honestly I was a little reluctant to say how amazing it was because I’d selfishly like it to remain a hidden gem. However, this place definitely deserves a stellar review. Super clean and modern and the staff is awesome. Also, if you happen to get Laura for your reflexologist- lucky you! She is incredible.

Love that even though it was renovated in the last few years, the original gas heat registers and wall cladding were kept. The people who worked there were fun and super accommodating.
The room we got was perfect! Get into your towel in a private massage room, shower in your private shower and walk into your private wooden sauna. We hung out, laughed and our 90 minutes went by far too quick. I think I have found another place I want to spend my free weeknights

This is a little gem in the heart of Vancouver I have been going for many years its one of the oldest steams in BC. Clean and recent reno makes it even better! Ask for a reflexology session as well

This is an excellent place to go and to have a traditional finish sauna and detoxify the body.
As a fin I've been using the services of Hastings reflexology and sauna for years the staff are fantastic and the saunas are kept perfectly cleaned and sanitized after every use. So that you can always rest assured you are in a clean and fully sanitized environment.
I would strongly recommend this service to any who are interested.

Looking for the ultimate privacy? This Bath House has got IT going on
Providing bath towels, face clothes and bench sheets, staff here are pleasant and kind; you will be given a basic tour so your aware of what is provided and how the rooms work before your time starts.
Every room is pressure washed, sanitized and made up again before next use.
The maximum time is 1.30hrs, 60min sauna, 30min shower dressing & relax.
The time seems fair, as we arrived early to fill out forms and got in the room before our time started (sauna was hot & ready to go)

Call to make you appointment, the staff will ask your desired temp (we choose 85 & it was more than decent)

December - rainy, cold and windy. Not a better day for a foot massage and steambath! Honestly, this place is terrific - clean, friendly and very well-kept. I'm an older gal who really cares about these types of things in addition to getting warm. Go with a friend the next time hot soup just isn't enough to keep you warm till spring. I bet you like it as much as I did!

I was here a long time ago and I have heard that it has improved a lot and has had some very nice renovations.
I tired to make an appointment but that’s another storey.
The good news is the Owner and is trying to hard to stay on top of things and build a sauna community

This is the ultimate hidden gem of gems in Vancouver. Private rooms with shower, sauna and relax rooms after with singles beds to chill out and the newly renovated basement with two incredibly amazing reflexologists with prices that are so reasonable you will get addicted and keep going back. The entire experience is unique, a truly 'one-off' place in the lower mainland.

Visited the sauna for my first time tonight and the guy working the desk was so rude to me. It was really upsetting because he kept treating me like I lived on the street. He told me to get a home and live a clean lifestyle, drug free. Which I felt very offended by. I am a college student at UBC, I have a good job and a nice apartment. I don’t even have time to party and definitely don’t look the part. Just because of the neighbourhood of the business does not mean I am a part of that. And so what if I was? ! No one deserves to be spoken to like that. I left in tears. I really loved the concept of this place and would love to come back but I am so uncomfortable to return. We paid. We followed the rules. We were respectful and polite. We tipped. And then we were pretty much called junkies and street people. I truly hope the owner values new customers and wants return clients and makes some amends or an apoloy on behalf of this uncompassionate employee. Otherwise this would be a really great place to attend during the grey, cold and rainy days we Vancouverites live through:)

We came to Hasting Steam and Reflexology last weekend and it was the perfect way to spend a cold rainy afternoon. There is no signage for the reflexology from the front but once you step in, you'll know you are in the right place as you are greeted by the friendly staff. I was not prepared to use the sauna but the front staff said he had a supply of clean t-shirts and shorts to lend their patrons so I borrowed them.

The reflexology / massage takes place in the newly renovated space downstairs. The space is cozy and clean with lots of comfortable seating. We arrived an hour early and they allowed us to relax in the reclining seats before our massages. We were in one of the private rooms for our massage, our masseuses were Tina and Linda, and they were amazing! I requested the full body massage and I am so glad Tina spent half the time on giving me the most amazing and relaxing head massage. After our massage, we were able take advantage of the sauna in the change room. The whole space is very clean and all the staff were very friendly. We will definitely return for more massages!

It was a cold day so it was a perfect for a reflexology, body massage, and sauna session. Before coming, I was very skeptical because I had trouble reaching them by phone even during business hours. When I tried to book an appointment, nobody picked up for two straight business days, and messages were left returned.

After I was finally able to get an appointment, I was pleasantly surprised by the whole experience. The place was huge, clean, and modern, completely opposite of what I expected based the booking process.

Tina, my masseuse was very skilled and experienced. She helped me relief the pain and the stiffness of my muscles. The spacious, 60-minute sauna a renovated and updated sauna with a 99-year old history. The showers were clean.

Cleanliness and service are standouts, but being a new place, I hope it can be maintained. Then I'll definite come back.

Such a hidden gem in Vancouver! Loved the hospitality that Chu provided. The fully renovated basement where the Reflexology took place was super comfy and the Reflexologist were very lovely. We used the private sauna upstairs afterwards, it very quaint and cozy. Definitely going back soon!

Went there today with good friend. We each had an excellent foot reflexology treatment. She had Rocky, I had April. We were very impressed, relaxed and rejuvenated. Then we had a great sauna, clean, nice and hot.
Hoi at the front desk very friendly, very helpful. Highly recommend this place. We'll definitely go again.

Owner is afraid that "people from the area will vandalize the renovated sauna" so now the pointlessly gender segregated sauna that I imagine isn't moldy like the upstairs private facilities is only available to reflexology clients.

On a whim, I decided to book myself a reflexology session. I had just moved down the street and was delighted to see that there was a sauna just a few blocks from me. The ratings looked great, so I called ahead and booked a 50 min reflexology with sauna after. Arriving, the most was warm and happy! Very high energy and checked me in giving me the lucky number 8 locker band (was a sweet gesture) I was led downstairs where I was shown the sauna facility and the common area for reflexology. The facility was immaculate and had calming music and lighting. While waiting for my reflexologist, I was given infrared to warm up my feet. The reflexology itself was excellent. I warmed my feet up in a tub of warm water and then given an extensive foot and calf rub. I couldn't believe how much time and attention was spent on the muscles and tendons in my feet and calves. The pressure was firm, and there was Lots of time spent on pressure points (which felt amazing). I didn't get to stay for sauna (I came for the foot rub, but the sauna was a bonus) and the host mentioned to me I could go back at a later date to get a half-hour of the sauna on the house. Overjoyed with the experience and am excited to come back!

Hastings Sauna has everything you need to relax, cedar sauna, reflexology, friendly staff and even electrolytes to hydrate! I have been to the sauna before, but last week I treated myself to a full body acupressure massage + sauna. It made my day! Shout out to the staff who gave me a discount without knowing it was my birthday!

"Relaxing" may not be the first thing that pops in your head when you hear Hastings but trust the reviews and check it out, you won't regret it.

We were beyond pleasantly surprised with wonderful experience we had here. The gentleman (think his name was Chewy) on shift was extremely helpful and professional. We booked ourselves for next Saturday for a reflexology treatment and sauna which we are very much looking forward to. We will tell our friends.
