Beautiful and inspiring grounds overlooking the Esquimalt Beach, the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the Olympic range in Washington State. Lovely gardens, the castle and the nice view make this a lovely place for a walk
Not maintain at all. Lawns and roads have bird poop all over. They should have a notification around parking telling if they are open to public or not. You pay the parking and then notice the place is closed and have to leave immediately.
Wish we could have seen upstairs during our tour - would have been nice to see the bedrooms or 'help' section of the house. There is a small museum underneath in sort of the boiler rooms of the castle, but only open to the public during tours. We did a Christmas tour, but there are some in the summer as well. Beautiful grounds.
Lovely place to visit with family, and you only have to pay for parking. Beautiful pristine gardens that you wander through, wild peacocks, and a stunning castle view that even little ones will enjoy.
If you saw the X-Men movie then you will recognize this castle. It has ample parking (cost 2 cad per hour). It has access to the botanical garden of the attached school. Beautiful landscapes and unparalleled calm you can find. There is no access to the castle, only to the surrounding area. It is very close to the center of Victoria although you have to go by car because I didn't see public transportation.
Only staff students invited guests can go inside, but the outside building and gardens are very nice. I spent a half hour alone walking through everything pretty quickly but you could spent an hour. Only 2 hour parking for $2.
