Couldn't write enough good things about this shop. Amazing service, top quality products, and they're always consistent with the cuts they provide. I can't recommend them enough!

Sabeana is awesome at beard trims and always makes you feel at home. Super chill place in general!

Have been going to Heavy D'S for over a year now getting amazing straight razor shaves and fades from Sabeana. Recently had the entire staff come together and do myself and my entire wedding party for my wedding. They did an absolutely fantastic job catering to each one of my groomsmen grooming needs and we looked stunning for the best day of my life. Great staff, very qualified and skilled and willing to go the extra mile helping you find your look. Combined with a super laid back and welcoming environment, I can't recommend this place enough!

In just a few years Heavy D has come a long way. From Shear Agony (probably a very accurate description for his time there as well lol) to opening his own shop in Departure Bay and building a team of great barbers. You definitely can't miss booking yourself in at Heavy D's, so what are you waiting for?

From the moment we walked into Heavy D's, we were greeted with a warm welcome from the friendly staff. The shop itself had a cool and modern vibe, with great music playing in the background. Deegan's barber was attentive and patient, making sure to listen to exactly what Deegan wanted for his haircut.

The attention to detail was impeccable - every strand of hair was perfectly trimmed, and the end result was exactly what Deegan had envisioned. He walked out of the shop with a huge smile on his face and a newfound confidence.

Been in to see Jonolle twice now for a cut, fade and beard trim and both times he had me leaving fresh! I can tell he’s really mastered his craft, his attention to detail is on point and really takes his time to make sure everything is perfect.

Overall the shop has a great vibe, everyone is really nice to talk to to and it’s just a cool place to hang out and get cleaned up!

This is the only spot I’ll go in Nanaimo now!

SuPeR Easy to book appointments online. Great reminder system for your appointment. Good prices, nice comfy welcoming place and super friendly staff. So far my brother-in-law and I are each 2 for 2 on getting Fantastic cuts, very clean fades and he gets his Santa Claus beard trimmed also.
They sell some nice products, hats, hoodies, hair care stuff and just casually mention them and don’t try to bury you with sales pitches. I book my next appointment before I even walk out the door because their calendar fills up quick!

Got my hair cut and beard shaped by Dan, in preparation for my wedding. My fiance and I could not be more pleased! This was NOT the rushed cut I've gotten all too often. He took his time and the experience was very enjoyable. His passion and professionalism was evident as he took the time to explain what he was doing and why he was doing it. Heavy D’s is the best barber shop in Nanaimo. End of story. Dan (Heavy D) is an engaging conversationalist and a great person. As a barber, his attention to detail and the pride he takes in his work is unmatched. This is the only barber I trust to take care of my hair. My first visit to this fabulous local barbers shop. Mellow classic reggae playing in the background set the mood for a great cut. Dan is a gentle bear of a guy, friendly, focused and great attention to detail. I'll definitely be back with my son too.

Great place for a haircut and chat! Dan and his wife are very kind and easy to talk with. I got a tight fade and Dan is very precise and experienced. Haven't tried a shave, but it is a service along with beard trimming. This opened recently, so not always easy to get a time, but it will grow so be patient. Walking distance for me, so even better.
