I was recommended this veterinary clinic by multiple people and after my first visit, I can see why. Everyone at reception was super friendly and kind. My dog and I visited Dr. McTavish and I was really impressed with how thorough, attentive, and personalized she was during the appointment. Unlike other veterinary clinics I’ve been to in Victoria, I didn’t feel rushed and had all my questions answered compassionately. Dr. McTavish has expertise in preparing international health certificates for travel, and I was incredibly lucky that I found her and she was able to help me for an upcoming trip! I definitely trust my dog with this clinic and will be back.

I brought my puppy here today after we were swarmed by hornets and she had about 50 on her maybe more. I’m not a client, and they’re not an emergency vet, they were just the closest to me at the time and they took us in right away and looked after us. They even offered me a juice because I was hysterically crying. Exceptional staff and service and their prices were so reasonable. I’ll definitely be switching vets to this clinic from now on.

Just another business in "health care" that is really only in the industry for the money, turning away animals they know are sick and possibly dying. Disgusting. How is that even ethical?

I wish I could rate this place 7 stars out of 10. The wonderful staff at Helmcken Vet were so kind, helpful and attentive to both me and my dog, who just met them for the first time yesterday. I have been hesitant to go to a vet for a long time after a few bad experiences with my dog, and they made us feel so comfortable. Every staff member was kind, greeted us with a smile and were helpful with my dogs needs. Dr. Levesque was extremely thorough, knowledgeable and personable.

We came to look for treats for my hypoallergenic dog and no one was at the desk. We asked multiple times and there were many people on staff but no one seemed to care. We were completely ignored. Atrocious customer service. Never going back again.

The care they provided our dog on short notice was so amazing we ended up switching to Helmcken Vet full time.

As horrible as it was that we eventually had to put our Winston to sleep, the compassion and care made the experience as humane and pleasant as possible. The vets made every effort to save our guy and never felt like they were trying to sell or push services not needed.

When we are ready to adopt again I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Dr Kwan and the team are so professional and caring. The experiences we have had with both of our dogs have always been so comforting. We never feel pressured to have unnecessary test done and their care for our animals feels genuine. Dr Kwan is an amazing doctor and funny, too. We truly appreciate the time she takes to explain everything so clearly to us. We would recommend this vet to anyone.

My god, the integrity of the people that work here is wonderful. Nancy Heath and Lindsay Mair have been tirelessly helping us with documents and understanding the tough regulations of importing a pet to New Zealand.

Their coordination, efficiency and positive communications have been the only saving grace in this whole relocation and of course they always had the pets wellbeing first in mind.

Where to start with this place. Hands down best vet I've ever had. Dr McTavish basically brought my cat back from the dead and I'm forever grateful. They genuinely care about the animals that us as customers bring in and that's priceless in my opinion.

All the staff are great. Dr Michelle Levesque is wonderful and I highly recommend her for her knowledge, compassion and dedication to our furry companion.

Honest care. Often when I have entered a vet's office it feels like they only see a wallet. Helmcken Vet see a pet owner needing help. They are always up front about costs, alternate therapy, out comes and therapy managment when cost is a deciding factor. It is refreshing and all the team are there to help and keep costs in line.

We received an estimate for work on our dogs teeth and took our little girl in. In the end our bill was just over $200.above the estimates top price. When we questions the receptionist she was not pleased, and actually quite rude. I guess most people just pay and never ask questions. She ask if we wished to speak to the doctor, good idea! A pleasant and informative conversation ensued and the ins and out of the issues that were dealt with were explained. With an explanation and information we were happy to have spoken to Dr. Kwan and also understood better the charges over the estimate.

Not very supportive with my dog. Not very understanding or friendly when dealing with them. No payment options or flexibility for their customers.

Excellent service from vets and staff. Very good with all our pets - 2 dogs and 3 cats - all with very different personalities and ages. (Dental work for our senior dog came in under the quoted price - also worked with the SPCA to honor our pups spay.) Not out to over charge you and always work with us to find affordable solutions, yet keeping our fur babies wellbeing a top priority.

Dr. Tin Wai Kwan is an absolutely wonderful veterinarian with excellent advice and the veterinary technicians at this clinic are pleasant and professional. They have taken excellent care of my pups over the years. Highly recommended!

I was recommended to Dr. Tin Wai Kwan by a friend that sees her with his bunnies. My family and I have since taken all of our four kitties to her for spay, neuter, and first year kitten boosters. Dr. Tin Wai Kwan has been compassionate with humans of varying experience caring for animals and has provided exceptional veterinarian care for mine, and my family and friend's animals.

They are very friendly and took amazing care of our dog Dexter when he was extremely sick. The veterinarians are very professional and explain everything to you. Highly recommended.

Not the best service I've ever had. I asked for my dogs files to be transferred over to their clinic from another clinic due to location. I asked for them to call me when this was done so I could order flea/tick medication. This was about a month ago, still haven't heard a word from them. Pretty disappointing when I'm trying to give them my business and they don't follow up. Needless to say I've gone elsewhere and got my dogs flea meds.

Very helpful for both staff at front desk and from the vet. Readily answered questions and offered suggestions. Very clean and pleasant office. Would consider as vet to any new pets.

Dr. Kwan took great care of my small dog who needed dental extractions. I will definitely be going back in the future. Took the time to explain everything in detail & I felt the price was reasonable with no overcharging.

This office is outrageous with their billing. I would never go back. If you want excellent veterinary care for your pets try Prevost in Duncan. Best care and reasonable prices.

Sara seems a knowledgeable vet with regard to cats. She picked up something that one of her colleagues had missed previously.

Too busy trying to upsale me on let insurance or flu shots for my dog. I left feeling irritated; will not be going back

My dog was very sick, she was taken care of very quickly on a Sunday, shes now a happy dog again. I cant recommend this place enough.take your pets here

My daughter brought 2 rats in to be euthanized today. Our regular vet wasn’t available. I called around trying to find somewhere and preferably somewhere somewhat affordable. My daughter rescued these rats 6 months ago and has previously had vet visits. The vet was incredible. The cost was significantly cheaper than anywhere we had called. My daughter told me the warmth and compassion her and the rats were given. They were placed caringly wrapped in a box with a flower and she was provided paw prints for each. I want to express my gratitude for you treated my daughter and her pets. This was the first experience in her young adult life of having to say goodbye to a beloved pet. ️

Honestly this is the best vet we have ever, ever used. I hate going to the vet because you go in for a small issue with your dog and you come away $150-200 less in your pocket. Dr Kwan is thorough and her clinic has reasonable prices. Highly recommended
