Our Bunny was very well taken care of by Dr. Harry and his team after she was hurt in her hind leg and was limping. We are administering the medicines prescribed and she is already on her way to recover in 2 days. Very happy with their service.

This is the only vet I will be going to in Vancouver! I’ve taken my pups to a few in the area and it’s all up selling, high prices and inconsiderate people. Receptionist is very nice and veterinarian is gentle, considerate and passionate about helping animals over making a few extra bucks which is exactly what we were looking for! The vet has also been able to squeeze us in for last minute appointments which is highly appreciated! Pugs have all left happy from here! I definitely recommend this clinic!

Dr. Harry works SO hard. He and his smiley team are lovely to interact with and each time I come in with either/both of my pets I receive wonderful service and excellent, thorough care for my pets at the best prices in town. They have a memo taped to their front counter that mentions that their philosophy is that pets often suffer greatly because pet health care is so expensive and they believe in giving to their customers the best prices possible. I've not seen anything like it anywhere else.
And their price list has always been perfect for us. Thank you Dr. Harry and team at Hemlock Animal Hospital for providing a safe and affordable to ensure our pets health.

Compassionate, efficient, excellent service! I'm so glad I brought Pazza here for her spay surgery. Admittedly, I was a little put off by the reviews, but I'm old enough to recognize a lynch mob when I see one! Amazing service, amazing follow up, my cat healed quickly and wonderfully. I appreciated the ease with which my declines to the "up-sells" were taken. A good veterinary office should be suggesting these things, whether they're in the budget or not! All in all, I'm so so so happy! 100% recommend!

They are reliable, trust worthy and compassionate. They do not try to trick you with unnecessary treatments or tests and the staff truly loves all animals (even the difficult little guys).

I've been taking my cats here for over 6 years (since they were adopted) and consistently receive excellent care and service from Dr Harry Makkar and his lovely staff. Highly recommend as the best animal care in the Fairview area.

We have been going to Hemlock animal hospital for about 3 years and have been impressed by their services and fair costs. Staff are always friendly. We also had to euthanize our cat and everyone was just so lovely during that difficult time and we truly felt taken care of and that our cat was taken care of till the very end.

Even though I had never made an appointment with them, they were willing to hold items for me until I could go down and get them! I know its a small thing, but it made me feel like I was important, even though we have never met. Love it!

I have been going to Hemlock for a few years now. They helped me care for my two very old dogs, and kept them very comfortable through their numerous health issues. Now, my puppy is receiving his primary care with Dr. Harry and the team. I know he is in good hands, and I always feel like he is getting the best care…and they are friendly and reasonably priced. I never hesitate to send people there! I can’t say enough about the team. Dr. Harry is a special vet.

I’ve never been to a better clinic. This has been our vet for the past two years now. Visited three times, and every time, have been incredibly pleased with the love, care, and professionalism demonstrated by the staff.

Dr. Harry Makkar and his staff make this a great choice for our cat and dog. They have often made time in a busy day for last minute emergencies. Dr. Harry is careful to explain the reasons why one treatment or another may be necessary. The staff enjoy animals and always welcome them affectionately. Dr. Harry gave us invaluable help when our insurer refused a claim. There are other vets in our neighbourhood, but we prefer Hemlock.

He overdosed our cat over 5 times with antibiotic because “somebody put the medication in the wrong box”. Prior to that he asked for a Yelp review and promised a free check up in exchange for a good review

Dr. Harry has diagnosed my pup appropriately over the last 5 years. He gives the facts and options and respects the owner’s decision to make the final call. I appreciate the all around level of service at this clinic.

Dr. Harry and one of his assistants came to my house to help us with our very sweet elderly Cat who Is dear to us. They were very caring, understanding and helpful. A few issues were determined immediately and treatments have worked and she is doing well considering her advanced age of 21. Ruby is grateful.

Sudden unexpected surgery on my cat: I sent an email at 6 am for urgent help, they called me as soon as they opened. Brought her in shortly after, in and out in a few hours, she's grouchy but she's doing really well. Thank you so much

First of all The Ladies at the front desk are caring and lovely.

Dr. Harry is a scam. We brought our kitten at the time to his clinic. The staff ended up keeping our cat in the same crate as a visibly unwell adult cat. We brought our cat home sick, different from what we brought him in with initially which was to get neutered. Our cat ended up developing "Cat Herpes" which then he passed on to our other cat. When we questioned Dr. Harry about this, he denied everything then charged us over $800 for "Medicine"

Long story Short, do not bring your pet to this vet clinic. He only cares about money and not about your pet's care. Dr. Harry has literally no bedside manner and will charge you the price of a mortgage with "medicine's and surgeries" your pet most likely does not need. I wish we had known better. We would have saved thousands of dollars.

THe doctor completly misdiagnosed my dog, not only that he gave the wrong anti-biotic, three days later a bill of 1012.00 and my dog still have fever took her to an other vet immedialty he did find the problem, the antibiotic given by Hemlock hospital was wrong. Good thing I went to an other vet, m with in 2 hours with the new vet administered the new mediocation to replace the onbe that was not mneat for heer problem.this doctor also wanted that i take 4 xray my dog would had died if I did not go to a new clinique, the new clionique i went found the problem by just looking and feeling my dog. The new clinique that my dog received the right treatmerntn was an immediate change, and she is fine now. Thank to the new cklinique otherwised Hemlock animalhospital would had killed my dog DO NOT BRING YOUR ANIMAL THRERE PLEASE. I KNOW I ALMOST LOST MY DOG BECAUSE OF THE INCOMPETRENCE - 5 STAR. THE DOCOTR ALSO AT ONE POINT WAS LAUGHING AT THE SITUATION

If you care about your pet even slightly, I’d stay away from this place.

The “vet” Dr. Harry was extremely dismissive and defensive when I simply raised questions on the well-being of my dog. He was also not wearing a mask and had a strong unpleasant BO.

When asked, the “vet” was clearly unaware of my dog’s weight, her dental health or her ear condition after the “physical checkup” that took
them less than 2 minutes behind closed door.

When I think it couldn’t get anymore worse, the male vet tech was unnecessarily rude and unprofessional - as I quote word to word “ya I know what I’m doing”.

He was also extremely rough to my dog, when was then a puppy - she was terrified and was extremely calm; I don’t see the necessity of being rough when an animal is clearly cooperating.

I was in the exam room and the condition was extremely disgusting, which is clearly an UNDERSTATEMENT. It resembles me of a meat market in Thailand!

The female receptionist was helpful though and she seemed genuinely embarrassed for them and I don’t blame her, I would be too if I was working there.

As any sane person would, we switched to a new vet - whom my sweet Lexi now adores! I am more than happy to pay triple of the exam fee to see an actual COMPETENT and qualified vet.

Oh and the best part - they withheld my girl’s Lexi’s medical record by not sending them over to my new vet for TWO weeks. My new vet office emailed and called numerous times and when I called they denied ever receiving anything and raised his voice at me, “ give me their email now”.

I ended up having to call them myself with the “motivation” of pursuing legal action, and there - they sent it within the next half an hour

I'm new to the area, so was looking for a new vet. I have been to many Vets over the years. The friendly service at Hemlock clinic was hands down the best I've ever seen. Gabby the veterinary assistant (I think that was her name) was so friendly, polite and professional and so good with my dog Amigo. Best reception service I've ever had at a veterinary clinic. Will for sure be going back when needed.

Absolute butcher shop. Had to take my dog in for an ultrasound and he was left with abrasions and bruises from the process. Ended up being charged $400 more than what was quoted. Will never bring my dog back, and if you love your pet you should stay far away.

Always had good experiences here. Dr Harry and his staff saved my dogs life after another dog attacked her. Thank you dr Harry

Very friendly staff.i went in with my cat who got in a fight, they told me he needed 650$ surgery that i opted out of, he healed just fine on his own with the antibiotics.

Great doctor and staff! They're all very responsive, warm, and welcoming. It was our first time here and we had a great experience. They're very patient answering all our questions and attending to our concerns. You can tell they're passionate in what they do and took care of our baby very well. They also gave us a welcome package with essentials for our new dog and for being there for the first time.:) Dr. Makkar gave us a lot of information, so we could take care of our dog better and make an informed decision. We didn't feel pressured to avail their services at all and they charge at a reasonable price. We're happy that we brought our baby Teddy here. It feels reassuring having professional people, like the staff here at Hemlock Animal Hospital, who can look after our dog and help keep them healthy. Thank you all so much.

Uneducated about over-vaccination. Please do your own research, this vet and their staff especially, and don’t just take whatever advice the vet gives you.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. As I am writing this I am furious with how "Dr. " Harjeet Makkar treated me and especially my dog.
I tried to book a vet appointment at several other places and everywhere was booked up until Aug. I knew right away something was off when they could take me in "whenever. " However, with my dog's ear infection, I knew I had to see a vet asap, so I booked an appointment at Hemlock Animal Hospital.

First off, my dog is a rescue who just arrived from Shanghai, still extremely terrified of random people, etc. They took my dog in (I should have asked to go in with him but it all happened so quick). A few minutes later "Dr. " Harjeet Makkar comes out without introducing himself and annoyingly says "your dog needs to be sedated" without giving me any other option. I asked to go inside with him to comfort my dog and then we proceeded by putting a muzzle on him.

"Dr. " Harjeet Makkar seemed annoyed the entire time and was extremely rough with my poor dog. It was unnecessary to be rough especially because his assistant was holding him, he had a muzzle on, and I was there to comfort him.

Everything there seemed dirty including the tools used on the animals, even the towel my dog was on had dirt and a bunch of fur on it from other animals. This place was honestly disgusting.

ALL "Dr. " Harjeet Makkar cared about was MONEY. Listing things we needed to purchase for our dog that would rack up our bill and not even give us any real reason.

I could even feel that his assistant/receptionist was even embarrassed to be there working for him. As I was paying, I asked if that's how he treated all animals and she was so uncomfortable to say no.all she said was "I think he's having a really bad day. " and apologized several times for his behavior / actions. I do have to give props to his assistant as she was very calm, sympathetic and caring towards my dog. I don't know how I would have gotten through that appointment without her. I hope she finds a job somewhere else where they treat animals how they deserve to be treated.

"Dr. " Harjeet Makkar (Harry) LACKS empathy, compassion, patience, and a passion for helping animals. I truly felt like he wanted to hurt my dog more than help him. HOW DOES A PLACE LIKE THIS EXIST? ! He had the audacity to come back out after and said I needed to come back in a week for a check-up. HA, as if I'm coming back! I hope this place shuts down.

PLEASE if you are looking for a vet, go elsewhere. Do not take your pets here.

I love that you are open later to accommodate work schedules. The staff is always available by phone and so friendly and helpful. The vet is very kind, kept me updated as he was assessing my cat, and asked me before doing any tests/treatment. Highly recommend!

I took my cat here for an irritated bladder because it was same day appointment. He suggested a urine test and we agreed to give my cat under the skin fluids so he would pee. Ive had this done before with another vet, and it works.
When I got my cat home, his chest was shaved so close to the skin that it was bleeding. I dont know how roughly it was done, but it didn't look normal. I wouldnt bring him back here, especially for the fact that I cant go in the exam room to see how he is being handled.

I will add to all the 5 star reviews. We took our puppy for full test, consulting and vaccinations to this clinic.
Dr. Harry was very patient and answered all questions and clinic staff were very nice and friendly.
So happy to find a trusted veterinarian close by.

All I can say about this clinic is you get what you pay for. The prices are probably some of the cheapest in the city, particularly for an examination. However the vet isn't thorough, he doesn't really seem to care about the animal, and frankly he's just plain rude. Any time I asked questions I was made to feel like a bad pet owner. When I had to hospitalize my senior cat for an unknown illness, it was terribly difficult to get updates from the clinic. I didn't feel confident they were even trying to feed him regularly or giving him his meds. Honestly you end up wasting your money because they don't explain things and don't make educated choices. And all the staff seem fresh out of high school and clueless. Would never go back.

We have been coming to this clinic, with our dog Bailey. The doctor Harry and the team are profesional and take care of our dog.

They have the best Staff and Vet doctor. I was very happy how they treated my rabbit Flopsy.

I took my cat to hemlock a few weeks ago for vomiting and diarrhoea. They didn’t recommend unnecessary tests and prices were decent as well. My cat was hospitalised for a few days and got better. I will be returning back to this clinic and recommending it to friends as well!

Drove my sister and her cat here. She had a terrible experience, doctor was rude, cat was given vaccines it didn't need (ones for outdoor cats, when it is a fully indoor cat etc.) Cat was terrified afterwards, wouldn't come out of crate. Her roommate and her mom took other cat in and heard banging noises in the back when they took the cat back.

DON'T GO HERE. EXAM TABLE had a ratty towel with holes in it that I wondered if it had ever been washed. Had to ask for a clean towel!
*Most concerning was he put the used needles on the exam table by a wriggly dogs feet where he just about stepped on them! It took 2 stabs with the needle to inject successfully. Assistant couldn't hold the dog properly secured.

They are very nice there and call as soon as your dog is out of danger. They have helped in a couple emergency situations with our baby

Such a positive experience. My daughter's cat came down with what we thought was a bit of an infection and Hemlock Animal Hospital were so attentive and responsive. They were kind, warm and communicated very well. Great team including vets and support team. Thank you so much!

Called the clinic for a simple inquiry. Very rude from the get go. I would not rely on them to provide services for my fur babies, especially with the latest review.if the clinic comes with a warning, take it to heart.

Caring and compassionate folks. Staff are well trained and give simply worded and to the point information. They provide all the options and do not pressure you when dealing with the health of your pet. I have an elderly dog and they have provided excellent care. My dog had to be admitted, they invite you and encourage you to visit and check in anytime.

I went to apply for a job here several months ago and was shocked by this veterinary clinic. They did not require any prior experience or training to become a vet assistant and employees there actually warned me against working there when the vet was out of the room - stating that the vet was not skilled and was not kind to the animals - safe to say, I left pretty quickly and did not want the job!

Be careful when going here since we were warned by an assistant working at this animal hospital to seek another vet.

I'm very happy with this veterinary practice. The staff are kind, compassionate, and competent. The facility is clean and well organized. The front desk staff are great. I'm very happy that someone pointed me in their direction when I needed to find a new vet. When I've needed urgent appointments for a pet they've worked us in quickly and got to the bottom of the problem.

We adopted our Kitten, Figaro, here. We can't thank them enough for introducing us to our new little best friend. They've always taken great care of him and the pricing is reasonable. The staff is very friendly, and there always seems to be free parking available right out front. They're also conveniently located very close to Granville Island if you need something to do while your pet is in the clinic. Highly recommend!

Recently my dog went in for surgery and I was terrified. Dr. Harry was the veterinarian that did the surgery.
I have a very small light weight petite dog and I have been to several places to get quotes on teeth removal. After, a lot of thought I decided it was the best decision for my pet.
I only felt confident with this Dr. He kept it real with me and was understanding to my dogs needs. I am extremely impressed with the whole procedure and outcome. My little dog seems like a whole new dog since the surgery. He is a very good Veterinarian and he will now be my dogs doctor. If I could give more then five stars I would!

Hemlock team are fantastic, always caring. There’s never any pressure to spend a ton of money like other vets I’ve been to in lower mainland. They will tell you what you need to do and will work with you to make sure you feel comfortable with everything that needs to happen and makes sure you understand and know your options. It’s great to have a vet you don’t feel dreadful calling because you know they are going to take care of your pets and the fees are very reasonable. Highly recommended!

What an great experience. The person at reception was friendly, witty, kind and helpful. The veterinarian, Dr. Harry, was thorough, knowledgeable and very sensitive to the needs of both the dog and the humans. I have a large breed dog which can make extra attention necessary in assessment and diagnostics. All our questions were answered well, nothing 'pushed', and pricing was right reasonable with an estimate provided for upcoming treatment. Highly recommended for all pet lovers!

I adopted my cat from them 2 years ago. Took my cat in for a growth on her side.place was clean and friendly.the room was nice and warm and my scardy cat was comfortable enough to sit in the corner under the chair. The Vet was super nice and so sweet with my cat.checking her teeth and giving her a wellness check. I was told the growth was a wart and it is normal for cat as they age.was given a quote and was given time to think about it - surgery was same day and 2 growths were removed.she was bundled up nice and warm in the back and I took her home.she was happy and running around.stitches look amazing and the quote was very reasonable and affordable.

We have never been let down by this clinic - incredibly trustworthy and attentive. From the reception staff, to the animal assistants, to the vet techs, to the veterinarians, everyone is kind and helpful. We have had our dog's shots updated here, had yearly examinations and come in twice for emergencies Every time we left with piece of mind knowing our pup was in good hands. We have been going here for two years now and I highly recommend Dr. Harry and his staff. They always take such good care of our pets and helped my dog with an emergency surgery last minute before Christmas. They diagnosed what was wrong and it it like he is a puppy again. We are so grateful for their service.

I adopted a kitten and am very happy as the kitten is very healthy. Great service, this medical issues were thoroughly explored and all my concerns were discussed. I was provided with a ton of info to help ensure my dog was being fed a proper balanced diet. Highly recommended!
