Good bar and drink deals went for a few drinks after dinner. Its just a pub you get what you see

Went to a music event, nice big venue, good dance floor. But encountered a very rude bartender when I asked for a wine on the menu; she said, " we don't have the Naramata 2022; we have a cab-sav. " Me, " Which winery is the cab-sav from? " She go upset and started shouting "cab-sav "over and over to me. So I opted for a Strongbow, but it came from a tap handle, and was flat. Other than bartender's rudeness, and the flat cider, the venue was nice. Other reviewers have had great experiences with staff, so I'll just try another bartender if I attend another event. But don't try and have a nice glass of red wine! LOL.

Im honestly no hero and the door guy just waved me on through without even glancing at my lapel for honorable adornments of valour. If they let me that easily, any spineless jellyfish could get in there! Next you know it, the place is just oozing with cowardice and lillylivery. "Hero's Welcome"? Morelike who cares, you skitterish weiner. Come buy our grilled cheese and stop freakin out.

Came here for trivia. Great variety of beers and friendly staff. Lots of arcade games too. I wish their food menu had more options though.

Best new establishment in the area. What the ownership group has done is tremendous and only enhances the quality of the neighborhood

The space is great

This was the 2nd time I have been to Hero's Welcome and it won't be my last.
Both times I was pleasantly greeted by staff upon entering. Last night my husband and I went there to play darts.
There were people sitting in the dart table area and the host graciously asked if they could slide over a little to give us some table room. I really appreciated his efforts to accommodate us!

Darts:
They have new blade 6 boards up and the dart area was well set up. The boards were nice and bright.
The chalk boards were difficult to write on/see clearly and there weren't any erasers. Perhaps the bar could put up new chalk boards that can be written on clearly, and are a little bigger than the ones that are currently up?
I did noticed an outlet near the left board, so I may just bring my tablet next time and use a scoring app. I'd have to check to see if there is free wifi.
Update: There is Free wifi and the tablet worked great, still, replacement chalk boards would make it easier for all playing darts.

Ordering Drinks:
If you are going there for the first time, order at the front of the bar. The first time we we there, we thought we were in line at the side corner of the bar, but it wasn't the ordering spot.

In Conclusion:
Overall the space is great!
They played a fun mix of popular music from different eras and genres. The place is clean/well kept.and has a fun relaxed atmosphere. Staff are friendly and accommodating.

Good to see this old legion have some new life breathed into it! Feels like a neighborhood bar and has reasonably priced drinks. Food menu is small, but serviceable

We attended their Bimbo Bingo event and it was AMAZING! Jerry Lynn was absolutely fantastic! The energy and the atmosphere was fun and uplifting. The staff from the bartender to the door staff to the server were friendly, inviting and there to make sure we had a great time. The pub was clean, great games area - just a fun place to hang out, grab a bite and enjoy a wonderful night. Definitely will be back.

Walked in on a Thursday night at 8: 30pm expecting a games bar with good beer and music. It felt more like a library on Monday. They had a story time night with limited laughs and we were told to not make noise playing darts and no other games were allowed. It’s Thursday night? Not Monday at 1pm. So much potential, so excited to try out a new bar in the neighbourhood, felt uncomfortable and left.

Great space to watch the game, lots of awesome games, skeeball, pool, pinball in the games room, plus the banh mi is fantastic. Awesome and super friendly staff, and karaoke night is a blast:)

We live in the neighbourhood and time and again have been impressed with the service and community here. Delicious house lager, kind people, and fun games. We feel so lucky to have this place so close.

They have skee ball, pool tables, pinball, fooseball and darts. They have some really really tasty hotdogs on the menu and very reasonable prices on drinks. Great atmosphere!

Great little spot. Solid beer list and some fun games to play. 2 pool tables, 2 skeeball sets, couple of pinball games and big Buck hunter. Fun place! Good service, good time.

Awesome spot for a fun night out! Great beer selection with a good lil pub food menu as well. I got the grilled cheese and it was plus you can’t go wrong with having a photo booth!

Great staff and great beer selection! A nice spot to chill and meet new people. Lost some personal belongings a while back to have the manager contact me to say a patron brought them back. Safe to say I am over thrilled and great karma for this place! Definitely will come back! Cheers!

One of the best bars in town! They have so many fun events all week, karaoke is my personal fav. The foods great, the games are awesome, and the photo booth is super cute! I’ve come here just on the weekends and the music is always really good, and during sporting events - they have lots of TVs! Also pretty cool they still respect the rules of the original legion, no hats!

Darts, games, cheap beer. Felt like I was at the Sooke Legion, in the heart of Vancouver. A lively crowd, good music.

Enjoyable visit. Good beer selection. Food was great. Turkey sandwich and gourmet hotdogs for a good price. We enjoyed the vibe and will be back soon.

We were a group of four for dinner and drinks. We were not expecting a fine dining experience but we had a great time. The service was casual, friendly nd accommodating and our food was served hot! We went before the peak dinner rush and it seemed like they were quite busy with pick-up orders as well which is always a good sign. Will be back!

Went in to check this out Saturday afternoon. They had some sort of flea market going on but not busy customer wise. Was seated, had the menus dropped and then basically ignored for about 10 minutes.
The menu was extremely limited and the lack of any service was brutal. Got up and left.
I guess I’m no Hero and not welcome. ‍️

Great old school vibes in this modern vets club. Good food and drinks. Very cool throw back joint with a modern twist. Lots to do and see. Definitely worth checkin out.

My only complaint is that you have to be a hero to dine there, or so I have been told. I decided that the only way I could taste their hero food, was to lie. So upon entry I fabricated a backstory of woe and intrigue. I dawned the mask of “Gerald Thinkerbottom, world renown inventor and surgeon” I spent my time healing sick children in war torn developing nations, and inventing new ways of purifying water through the power of wind and solar. I release all my inventions for free, which makes me a target for the rich corporate elite, so I have to move from place to place quickly as to avoid their bounty hunters.

They seemed to have bought my elaborate ruse, and led me to a seat. Boy was I glad I lied, the food is great, though they seemed to start suspecting I was not who I claimed to be. I had to double down on my lie, faking phone calls, and stating more outlandish tales whenever I had the chance. I paid in cash so that they couldn’t track my actual name through my Card. With my persona in place, I can now visit in the future without worry.

Oh man I love this place! Had such a great time. The servers were incredible. And the manager was super responsive to an event I’m planning there this summer.

We had a staff get together at this place and it had a fantastic vibe and great beer selection! It was busy but never felt crowded and the staff was attentive. Loved playing skeeball!

It was good but I wish they had a gutar hero arcade game with 2 controllers for head 2 head. The gun game was so easy and boring. Every else was awesome

This would have been 4 stars… maybe even 5 but when I walked In and saw the shuffleboard tables are now regular tables my heart sank. Who opens a bar that looks and feels like an army navy bar and gets rid of shuffleboard? Still had a great time and will definitely return but it will make me sad looking at those tables. Maybe just get rid of them and put in normal tables so I don’t have to be reminded that I can’t play shuffleboard.

Service on the floor is not very friendly or efficient. And the menu is very limited. Disappointed with the service.

Worst customer service ever. Waited to speak to the bartender for over 2 minutes. He kept yapping on his cel phone. Good way to tell ppl that new customers do not matter.

The atmosphere and music are great. The set up for pool and bar games is stellar. The food menu could be improved by adding some more snack options though.
