We attended a birthday party and the children had fun with the games that was provided plus I love that the gym is fully air-conditioned.it's clean and lay out of the community centre was well planned. Glad our city has this centre for us to enjoy. Amenities and activities are great too.

Don’t go here, the co-Ed bathroom isn’t safe for families, there’s a creepy teenager using his phone to record families while in the change room.

Love this place so much:) although there is one lady who helped us with our ice cream and she was tottally rude the other lady was super sweet and helpful but one of them was just tottally stuck up and unfriendly and made it feel like we were a burden

Customer service is okay but I really like the facility and all that they have to offer: swimming pool, cafe, skating rink, curling rink, library, fitness centre, games room (pool and table tennis), and gymnasium.

Thanks to the lifeguard for making me feel like I do not belong in that facility. I am an Indian. I went there for a swim, and the lifeguard was very rude to me. Took all the enjoyment out of my swimming session.

This is my community center, I live super close, I know a bunch of the staff, I quite literally watched the place get built. There are 7 main aspects to the facility: Pool, Ice Rink, Curling Rink, Basketball Court, Community Rooms, Library, and my personal favourite the Gym. All the staff at Hillcrest are great and if you become a regular there is a good chance they will know your name. My main experiences in the center are in the pool and gym, both of which are great. The pool is big and has everything you want even inflatable slides on certain days. The gym though small has good equipment is clean and most importantly doesn't smell.

Disappointed in the program services and how they run it. First come 1st serve bases? Even on the wait list. No way to ever get a spot to swim as well.

Great place to hangout, or take classes. The blue parrot cafe is pretty good, with a decent selection of food.
24 April 2020 20:45
It's a great community center, however parking on weekends can be tricky due to farmers market and Nat Bailey's stadium being nearby
22 April 2020 11:28
Hillcrest is a great faculty. My only beef is with the parking. Not enough and narrow spots. Expect to get door dings from car owners who don't respect people's property. (ask me how I know)
17 April 2020 20:41
Crowded weight room. Couldn't get a bench or rack. This was on super bowl Sunday at 3pm. I figured the gym would be less packed but I was wrong.
11 April 2020 11:31
Great family facility - enjoyed the kids swimming area with 3 toddlers and did a few laps in the big pool. Busy, but not overcrowded on a long weekend.
28 March 2020 4:53
Best center around. Pool is great. Pool needed more changing rooms and showers. Always a long wait after lessons
22 March 2020 21:53
Played drop in volleyball here a few times. Never tried anything else, but it seems like the place is well kept and cleaned! The workers are always so friendly and helpful too
13 March 2020 16:35
I spend a fair bit of time here, using the pool and gym. The gym has all the equipment needed but it can usually be quite busy. The pool is great and I use the hot tub, sauna and steam room on the regular. Sauna reaches 80C so dose yourself according.
07 March 2020 5:05
A wonderful, new (ish) facility. A lot of other people agree and this creates a overcrowding and cleanliness problem.
03 March 2020 19:17
Community center is fantastic, has a rink, pool and library. Leave extra time, the parking situation is a massive planning failure and this location is not near the SkyTrain.
13 February 2020 16:29
Nice staff showers are A+ the VPL is very nice but is a bit too crowded at times and feel not wanted there at times.

Olympic quality aquatic centre.

•Whirlpool
•Steam Room
•Sauna (offers views to the outdoor through a small window while you bake.)
•Lazy River
•Swimming lanes, diving boards up to 10M!

This is by far the best all around recreation spot in Vancouver.only room for improvement could be the steam room which is quite pathetic.very little steam.more like a warm damp room
25 November 2019 5:18
A multifunctional center that has a public library (VPL Terry Salmon Branch), an ice rink (for hockey practice and public ice-skating) and a huge aquatic center (great for kids to have some indoor water fun)! The environment is nice! However, some of the staff are not that friendly!

There is also an ice-cream/coffee place called Blue Parrot Coffee (Personally, I don’t like it!)

Also, watch your personal belongings! I went to the bathroom, then my umbrella was gone!: (
09 November 2019 8:45
Great pool, well-maintained. Unfortunately missing a water slide and the steam room is sometimes a little week. But during the summer months the outdoor section is pretty cool.
01 November 2019 12:09
I love this community center. Its big, new, and glorious. However sometimes the pool changerooms are very dirty. Bring your flip flops!
28 October 2019 3:30
Small gym and lots of peoples. But they have fairly new equipment, biggest installations, pools, skating ring etc.really family friendly! The best Community center in the city.

We came for swimming. It was so crowded that at times the lazy river was socially awkward but overall the pool was good. The hot tub is large and a good temperature. The diving boards were open during public swim, and the lifeguards switched which one was open so we got to have fun on the high dive, as well as the board.

The noise level is not bad. Music is audible but not loud, which I appreciate. Change rooms are well laid out with lots of lockers. But the floor is filthy! Everyone wears their shoes into the change room because their are no signs to remove shoes or cubbies to leave them. Or even a bench to sit and remove them. I recommend you bring a pair of slippers/flip flops for the change room. Outside the change room, there it's a generous set of shelves to leave your towel (great idea!).
15 October 2019 17:26
I spend a lot of time here. Parking is free, facilities are nice. My kids have used the ice rink, pool, and basketball gym mainly for lessons. I consider it one of the best public community centers in Vancouver.

Hillcrest Community Centre and Aquatics is locad on Midlothian Ave @ Clancy Loranger Way.

Hillcrest Community Centre has the following activities: Gym, Ice Rink, Pool, Fitness Room and Excercise rooms. With more than 30+ activities and clases.

The aquatic centre has a olympic sized pool including a swirl pool, a pool, an outdoor pool, steam and sauna, and a whril pool: the pool includes multiple waterpark elements, and 3 diving boards. HILLCREST IS CURRENTLY USING HASP LOCK SYSTEM, ALL PATRONS SHOULD BRING LOCKS, There are several lockers not using Hasp Lock and can have 25 Cents in them.

Wow! Had such a fantastic time here! They have a hot tub, steam room and a sauna! So relaxing, staff was friendly and overall very good time!
16 September 2019 9:48
Olympic swimming pool, diving board, sauna, hot tub, kid pool, outdoor pool (opened in the summer), fitness, ice ring, sport field, library, friendly staff, coffee shop, surface parking. Been going there for 3 years at the pool and fitness. Great place so it is busy.
15 September 2019 16:26
I love the swimming pool here and the price for family is very reasonable indeed. One of our kid's favorite place to hang out.
25 August 2019 14:11
Great place for swimming. Love that there is an outdoor component where you can sunbathe and read a book.

Gym is good for the basics but is fairly small. The free weight area is definitely lacking in size.

VPL is a decent size but can be loud at times with people coming in and out with their toddlers.

One of the best community centers. Great pool and ice rink, wide range of snack options, and a public library. Baseball fields and synthetic mini soccer field on site. This place has it all. Vancouver Canadian baseball can cause parking issues on gamedays.
04 August 2019 8:35
Amazing community centre. Was originally built for the Olympics and it shows. Great for swimming, skating and curling. Area around the centre also has several parks and baseball diamonds.
03 August 2019 18:49
Awesome public place. Everything is very clean and modern. Even the washrooms and free shower! As a traveler it is a great place to stay. Free wifi and parking to
01 August 2019 16:16
Bright open interiors surrounding the pools with windows that allow alot of natural light to show. Very clean and spacious number of pools for swim lessons, aquafit classes and length swimming. There is also a fitness center on the second floor with a weight room and other types of aerobic activities. Outdoor pool is also available during the summer season. Not enough shower stalls though to service the number of people that use the facilities daily. Frequent line ups for showers that limit you to 3 minutes for a shower: (Often morning aquafit classes are filled beyond capacity. Knowledgeable counter staff. Offering good value with various levels of membership or pre-paid drop in admittence. Much nicer than the Kerrisdale pool.

The layout of the change rooms is just so fantastic! Yeah inclusivity! I take my kids swimming and the huge common change room area is much appreciated. I can shower my boy and girl at the same time, or they can dip into their current preferred gendered changeroom - and I dont have to get wet!

Great communiy centre. One of the best family pools in the city. Ice rink, curling and library as well. Popular with families.
05 June 2019 14:57
Community center is large. Lots of space and great amenities. Plenty of activities to participate in.
26 April 2019 12:10
Wonderful pool size. Enjoy taking the aquafit classes there. Wished they had more mild or moderate afternoon aquafit classes.
10 March 2019 13:56
Had a great time kicking some ice over at Hillcrest's rink during the public skate hours. Rentals are available if you don't have your skates on hand. The rink wasn't too busy which was nice for gaining some speed. Picked up some ice cream for my niece and nephew on the way out. Good times!

Great place for families: swimming pool, library, ice rink, game rooms for table tennis and pool tables, weight room, as well as many multi-purpose rooms available for events. There’re many programs you can sign up for, definitely the nicest community centre in Vancouver west neighbourhood. Clean facilities and nice staff with occasional rude receptionists.
27 January 2019 16:36
Extremely busy on a Sunday (many kids/families) but it’s well organized and I enjoyed the fitness and pool areas.
23 December 2018 15:47
So many things in one place. Two gyms. Swimming pool. Game rooms. Library. Curling. Ice hockey.cafe.
10 November 2018 5:02
Hillcrest is a huge facility with mostly everything you could want in your community centre. The pool is expansive and the programs offered are plentiful.

However, some issues I've had with the facility. The gym area is absolutely tiny in comparison. It fails to match the scale of the community centre and feels a little like an after thought. Because of the size and the offerings available, the centre is often times packed as well.

Overall, the facility is an excellent community centre. It has everything you could probably want in a community centre. If you like quiet when you swim or exercise though, consider coming early in the morning or late at night.

The parking situation here is absolutely atrocious, especially if there is a Canadians game on. For two weeks in a row, I was stuck in the parking lot unable to leave because of the line up of cars waiting for other cars to leave and it took city of Vancouver employees AGES to come and start ushering people through.

The gym is insanely busy, which I know they can't help but the staff there can be quite useless. My friend and I have to watch the sign up board like hawks because of many idiotic people not paying attention to when other people are signed up for equipment. I watched a man erase my upcoming time for the treadmill and sign himself up. When I spoke to the lady on staff, she basically was insinuating that I should get over it and sign up for a new time. I didn't budge so she eventually told the other guy that he would have to sign up for a new time.
