Hime Sushi

Ordered takeout online during New Year's Day and they mentioned one hour to prepare food. Came on time and food was not ready. They appear very short staffed and disorganized. Many customers were also waiting for their food. I cancelled and left.

Ordered food through DoorDash and after 3 hrs of waiting and multiple phone calls they never prepared our order to give to the delivery driver.

Best Sushi in town!
Everything tastes amazing and is extremely affordable. It's incredible how the best bang for your buck is also the best tasting.

The service was good, the location is busy. They weren’t rushing us but because it was packed it was hard to relax. It seems like they want people to move asap. The service was normal, they did a good job. It’s very quick, not a good place for a big group or a long date to talk.

The spicy tofu was too fried, not very flavourful.

The shiitake mushroom avocado roll was delightful and mouthwatering. It was fresh, wasn’t deep fried, it was simple. We could have enjoyed it more if the bill wasn’t so rushed.

Yam roll - it was good, a bit too oily.

The place is very crowded. It was packed, there are a lot of people and they have a quick turnaround. Don’t come here if you want to spend quality time chatting. This in and out.

There’s no parking really, you might find a nearby mall to park at or street parking but it’s difficult.

The food is okay, the staff is pretty friendly but they don’t communicate well to me such as not refilling water or asking what i need or am i okay or not, Food is not that expensive which is good haha.also place is in front of bus stop! Hehehehehe

You get more for what you pay for! Very good portion for the price and the food tastes not so bad!

Went with a group of 10 from work. Ordered the daily special of 3 items. California roll, Teriyaki chicken, and spring rolls. Meal tasted good, service was good, and the atmosphere was cozy. A group of 10 was a little much as it is a smaller restaurant. If I was there with a group of 6 I probably would have rated service and atmosphere 5 stars each.

After the owner changed, I really wanted to like it. However, a basic roll like a dynamite roll doesn't taste good. It lacks flavour (due to the quality of ingredients), has too much rice, rice is too dense, etc. Wasabi is also dry and hard to dissolve because it's old. I really miss the quality of food.

Overall great. Although got a piece of tuna sashimi that tasted a little sour but still solid.

Used to be my favourite sushi places, but after the change of owners the quality of food has gone straight into the gutter. It’s straight up dangerous. I have thrown up over a dozen times now. Will never be coming back.

I want to like this place because it is in my neighborhood, but unfortunately rolls are mostly rice and very little filling.

Very reasonable quality sushi and sashimi at this friendly restaurant near corner of East Broadway and Kingsway, across from Kingsgate Mall in Mt. Pleasant area. We really enjoyed the Dynamite Sushi Sashimi Combo, delicious crispy tempura My Love Roll (salmon, cream cheese, crab meat and chopped scallops) and a Chef Special the Spider Dragon Roll! We were full yet the bill for 2 include side miso soup and 1/2 sake was only $47 including taxes! Definitely coming back as our regular Japanese restaurant near to our workplace and in our neighbourhood!

A little disappointed, the sashimi was mushy. The "chef" was yelling at the servers, and he had no mask on. Feels unsanitary.

I ordered their all day specials: 3 pc of chopped scallop nigiri, spicy tuna roll and salmon avocado roll. It came with a miso soup. They served me iced water. For $20, I think it was a pretty good deal!

But the colour of the chopped scallop was more pink than usual. The taste was not bad tho!

It’s a great place to go for some affordable sushi!

My favorite place to eat lunch in Vancouver. I miss going here everyday when I worked in the area.
Their lunch specials are awesome and the wait staff/hostesses are all really friendly (especially the two that usually take my take-out order on weekdays)
The tempura here is also really great.

Been going here for years. High quality Japanese food for a very reasonable price. Great service and very low key atmosphere.

I would never go back for take out. Chef's special was aweful low quality over sized chunks of salmon and tuna sashimi and a piece of octopus. The spicy tuna roll had almost no tuna and the gyoza was under-cooked. The package had no chopsticks, no soy sauce and a spec of wasabi. I've ordered there many times before and this was simply unacceptable food.

If i didn't have hime to sit down in and decompress from work, I'd probably lose my mind. Extremely cozy and that's what u want. Love my damn hime

We ordered a clam dish. Only shells, when questioned they said it was fallen into the marination. Numbers did not add. I hate to reason out with staff specially when it comes to food. When you charge well, You have to provide quality.

I am a sushi fan, we eat out a lot when it comes to.

Waste of money.

I like to give new places a try, especially when others share great reviews! We decided to give it a try through DoorDash.

We ordered the Yaki-udon, Deluxe Roll Combo, Gyoza and Nestea iced teas. Unfortunately, we had to discard all the food once we gave a taste.

My partner said his Yaki-udon was dry, tasteless, and had a weird metallic taste.

I also found my Roll Combo to be crunchy, and the rice seemed dry. It tasted like one of those ready-to-go sushi boxes that sits all day at a supermarket shelf. Due to the raw fish, I only ate a few pieces, and sadly had to throw out the rest - as the quality has been off-putting. It was also stacked with the hot Yaki-udon, so the raw fish could have been spoiled.

The gyoza was very chewy and doughy, so we weren’t able to enjoy these either.

I wanted to find something positive to say about this restaurant, but I did feel disappointment with the amount of food we had to throw out, which was everything. We were really hungry, so we weren’t picky at all. However, food safety is important and we didn’t want to risk it.

I thought that maybe we ordered right around closing, so they gave us whatever was left, but they were open for another 1.5 hours.

Fortunately, I was able to receive a refund with DoorDash. However, the $40 or so we spent did not justify the quality. I don’t think it’s a place I’ll try again. Sorry.

One of the best sushi in Vancouver! The aubri battera sushi is to die for. Highly recommend this place. Everything I ordered was amazing.

Absolutely disappointing. The chicken teriyaki was thin, dry, and tasteless. Just salty. Worst teriyaki I’ve had, I couldn’t believe they would actually serve this to customers

It's a little gem in the neighborhood. Despite the construction nearby, just drive around the neighborhood, plenty of free parkings and you could walk off the food afterwards. The staff are super friendly, the place is very clean. I like the flavorings of the food. Really liked their butter garlic clams. They even offer lunch menus, maybe I'll try that next time.

A solid, reliable sushi restaurant. Definitely worth walking half a block further West. Very friendly staff.
2021 edit - I swear that their tempura is even better. Lighter and crisper.

Could have been a 4 or 5 star experience, as I think this is one of the higher quality sushi establishments in the neighborhood, but these plastic garnishes are just really unnecessary. So was the waitress's snide, condescending attitude when I suggested that perhaps they could "consider not using them. " I mean really, it's not like I'm asking you to move mountains here, all I'm asking is that you NOT do one tiny thing. One tiny thing that would do just a little bit more to help out the planet and our oceans. You know, the ocean, where fish comes from. The fish that we use to make sushi?

Clean, small and simple reliable sushi place. This is going to become my main sushi/tempura source in the neighbourhood.

My boyfriend has been getting his lunches and dinners from here about twice a week for the last 10 years. I have also had tons of meals from Hime Sushi over the same time period. We periodically try other places for variety but Hime Sushi has always remained one of our favorites due to food freshness, presentation and reasonable prices. The staff are very friendly. There was a short period where portions got smaller but that was a few years ago and hasn't been an issue since. The food is always delicious and we so appreciate this awesome restaurant. Our favorite dishes include the Paradise, Fire Dragon and Avocado rolls, Ebi Sunomono, Gyoza, Seafood Salad, Edamame, BBQ Beef Rib Donburi, and Nabeyaki Udon. Just tried the Agedashi Tofu last night and it was probably the best I've had from anywhere. Since the pandemic, we only do take out and they have always done such a great job with preparation and packing of our orders. Highly recommended!

Everything was well presented, fresh, and great tasting. Clean and safe environment with excellent service. The pricing was very reasonable, especially since I ordered everything with black rice which usually costs a lot more. Will definitely be returning.

Pretty low quality sushi; no flavor whatsoever. Fish had a fishy smell which means it's not fresh. Each of the rolls I got were 50% cucumber and almost no fish (I didn't get a cucumber roll). The yam roll was actually cold to the touch. This place could only be good if you don't really care about flavor and just want to get full on something kinda cheap.

The service is amazing. The food is always ready on time for pickup and the quality is bar none.

Good service and food, really like their chicken karaage (more Korean style than Japanese) and their daily special bento.

I come here for one thing: Red Dragon Roll. No other sushi place I've been to makes it like Hime does. Any time I'm in the area and they're open, I'll always stop in and get myself a couple Red Dragons.

Love the service. Came with my toddler today and they anticipated everything I needed for him and brought it to the table without me having to ask. Food is great.

Favorite sushi joint in the Mt Pleasant area. The friendliest cheery staff, and their rolls are excellent.

We dine at Hime every week. Great food, friendly service. I recommend the Aburi Sushi Combo and Scallop Battera.

This was our go-to sushi place a few years back. We stopped coming after a few bad orders (fishy and very small portions), but it seems they got back up! Portions are great, fish is fresh and they have the most delicious BBQ squid and Red Dragon Roll. The only roll I don't order anymore is scallop, since it was fishy once or twice before.

Real crabmeat in the California roll - what's not to like? Portions not huge, but quality over quantity, I say. Delicious!

I love the food and the staff! They’re very nice and quick. The food options are great too whenever dine in or to go.

Small portions and not priced well. The Asari pasta was 12.50 dollars and was tiny and barely had claims. Should have to sushi dragon my usual bang for buck and good sushi.

Extremely awesome/delicious sushi for a great price! Got the mago avo roll, cali roll, and spicy tuna roll + miso soup. Spicy tuna roll was honestly so good. Service was super friendly and quick! WIll be going back again soon:)
