Roomy rooms, clean. On 2nd floor. Quiet area. Breakfast (free) was very good in terms of your complementary Breakfasts. Sausage, egg patty, bagel toast muffin, cereals, banana apple type spread. Lots of coffee, ample seats. Coffee in lobby WHICH I LOVE, one of the small things which makes a difference. Been here b4 for sports, right beside rink, fair price. Decent pool and jacuzzi. Nice tvs and wide channels. Good flow showers. No issues

Had a very good experience with the staff at this location, had a hiccup in my reservation but they were able to accommodate it. From the front desk staff to the location manager, they were extremely friendly and willing to help me out. Will be continuing to stay at this location while in Richmond!

It gets the stars for 2 main reasons. First is an early check in. Let me check in at noon!
Second ; 5 $ a day long term parking. Yes, The breakfast is amazing. On Sundays it's special.looking forward to this - returning for work.
Area is kinda tucked away and quiet. A sprawling underused industrial block amongst farm land. Within walking distance there is a rec center, movie theater, brew pub, ice rink.
Drive to the end of no5 or a number of other roads and there are nice natural spaces and parks

a good place when you unexpectedly have a long lay over or a early morning flight. Longterm parking with the airport shuttle make it all the sweeter. I missed it by a minute and they called it back for me.
The morning breakfast was beefy. Pancakes, biscuits, sausage, Turkey sausage, scrambled eggs, beans, coffee, juice, fruitloops and muffins bagels!

Typically cheap as well

I'd give it a HELLS YEAH.

It's alright.

Everyone keeps mentioning the excellent breakfast. However, every morning the breakfast room is insane, it's so busy. They need a bit better layout for it. You will almost get run over constantly when going to breakfast

Also only two of the five days I was there did they have scrambled eggs and bacon, the scrambled eggs are very good. However on days without scrambled eggs they have a "cheese egg omelet". That thing sucks. It's dry, heavy and flavorless. They need to stop even making that thing

Most mornings they also have "breakfast potatoes" (small potato cubes) they are bland and uninspired, and not fully cooked. One day of my stay they had actual hash browns (the fast food type like at McDonalds). Those were really, really good. Stick with proper hash browns, holiday inn! The "breakfast potatoes" are horrible!

They usually have some type of sausage- however, only on one day did they have sausage patties (they always had turkey sausage links, every day). With a sausage patty I was able to make a sandwich with a English muffin. But all other days they only had links, one day they had a pork link and turkey links, so now you couldn't really make a breakfast sandwich. Serving sausage patties gives more options for breakfast and they only did it one day of my stay.

Like other reviewers mentioned, I also experienced problems with my keycard not working, it decided to stop working entirely. They did get it fixed promptly so that was appreciated, but it took me running down the elevator twice and then into the general manager in the hallway to get it fully resolved

The bed is pretty hard. My bed at home isn't super soft but be aware this bed is hard, your shoulders and hips WILL hurt the first day or so.

The window blinds are awesome, they are easy to move, and block not only light but sound very effectively.

The room was fine, I had the King Studio which had a small mini kitchen (hot plate, coffee maker, toaster oven, microwave, utensils)

Bathrooms have a vent in the ceiling but no bathroom fan. This seems to be a trend in hotels lately I don't know why

Location is pretty good it is pretty quiet at night and near the freeway to exit as well as just a mile of two from a large shopping plaza that had coffee shops and a grocery and drug store

Amazing staff and luxuriously large rooms. Popular with air travellers. Consider pairing with a night at the movies and dinner nearby for a date night out. It may just be the perfect escape, right at your doorstep.

Very nice hotel with great amenities. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Good buffet breakfast. Only issue we had was with the shuttle service. We had rented a vehicle at the airport when we arrived and for the next day. When we returned the rental, the hotel wouldn’t send a shuttle to pick us up. We’ve done this before at other hotels so this was a bit of an inconvenience but we just took a Lyft back.

Based on the price, you can probably only rate the hotel with one star, as the price-performance ratio is simply abnormally bad - at least if you have the idea of staying here on weekends.

The room was a bit dated, which isn't really an issue except for the price. Unfortunately, the air conditioning was running at maximum level, so the room cooled down to 60°F and we were freezing. It's not possible to simply turn it off because the air conditioning control has an off position, but it doesn't work. So the caretaker would have to come, open the air conditioning and deactivate it manually because we wanted it off.

Unfortunately, the toilet was blocked next, so the caretaker had to come again.

At this point, praise to the gentleman who worked here on September 16,2023 and who also asked the loud, younger guests several times to be a little quieter because we were traveling with small children.

But the biggest flop was the breakfast. Only convenience products, nothing fresh. No fruit/vegetables available. And the tough one: just plastic cutlery and paper plates. Here you probably haven't heard anything about sustainability and environmental pollution thanks to too much garbage. A disaster, and everything tasted bad.

And in the end we paid €240 for it. For a room that was motel standard and a breakfast that was inedible.

I've rarely been so upset, but unfortunately it's very difficult to find cheap accommodation in the Vancouver area on weekends.

A clean hotel with the right amenities and deserves a solid four stars. A bit out of the way from the airport, but no jets landing outside your window either. They offer complimentary shuttle service. Pricey for the room, but that just seems to be the case in this town.

Nice hotel and room, staff were really friendly.

In my 31 years of existence I've never sat on a toilet that actually caused Physical pain for sitting on it too long, not like.an abnormal duration, a typical type 2 duration. Painful enough Id leave a review about it

The bathroom light when you turn it on would make a horror movie flicker too adding to the fear of the

Worst customer service I have ever experienced at a hotel. We reserved two rooms with two beds in each room. We received one room after a 20 minute check-in nightmare where they were mixing up our rooms with other customers. They never called us when our second room was ready and finally we ended up with a room with one bed for two people who didn’t want to sleep together. This happened even though we were called two weeks before and asked if we could share a bed and we said no. Just be prepared to not get what you reserve.
Book a different hotel.
Update: After calling and speaking to two different managers and head office and writing 2 reviews, I was compensated by getting 1/2 off one of the rooms I reserved.

I stayed here on the 19th. The rooms and bathroom were not very clean. They looked very old. Old and used body wash and shampoo in the bathrooms. This is not of good standard like other hotels.

Great rooms, great location, kind staff! The breakfast was also decent, and they do have a small pool, treadmills, and dumbells.

This is a nice clean holiday inn. It’s an express so it’s very basic. Perfect for a one-day stop. It is near some services and the roads. The service here is friendly and efficient. The room was comfortable and clean. It checks all of the boxes. It is not real close to the airport however. So if you arrive around rush hour or need to get to the airport quickly, it may take a while. Also I learned too late that you need to call their shuttle. There are several holiday inns in the area and that can get a little confusing. If you need a clean and comfortable airport hotel this is a good option. We’d return.

The power was out all night, and the phone didn't come back until 6 in the morning. I had to take the stairs to go upstairs. There was no hot water or electricity. I still received the money and no compensation at all. It was the worst experience in Vancouver.

The staff at this hotel were all super friendly from the man who picked us up from the airport in the middle of the night, to the breakfast ladies, front desk staff and the people who cleaned the rooms. The hotel was clean and quiet. The breakfast was good. Would stay again.

Holiday Inn Express & Suites Riverport Richmond, an IHG Hotel was a good place to stay. Yes, it's not very close to downtown Richmond, but not very far away either. With 10+ minutes driving you can get anywhere. The hotel room was large with much needed amenities, and the breakfast was free. Parking was free as well. Overall it's not bad to stay here.

Flight was cancelled at 1am and we needed a place to stay for the night. This holiday inn express location was amazing. Super nice, close to the airport, and accommodating. Would definitely recommend!

We stayed in Vancouver for one night prior to going on a cruise. The Holiday Inn Express was a nice hotel and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Even though the hotel was totally booked, the service was excellent.

It may not be the best HIE I've stayed at, but it's close. Wonderful staff. Indoor pool, hot tub, ice machine-all works as it should. Free breakfast is terrific, with lots of options, many of them hot. Fitness center could use a set of free weights, but is otherwise quite nice. Plenty of free parking. Close to a mall with movie theaters, restaurants nearby.

I had 2 nights booked for my 2 year old daughter and I, June 27,27. We arrived late and it took me 30 minutes to get her to sleep. The room was hot, so I turned the AC on. By the morning, the room temperature was still 27 degrees, both my daughter and I had a terrible night with the heat.

In the morning, I had to run to attend a family event so I called the front desk to explain the issue with the room. They said they'd look into it. I didn't hear back, so that night I found alternative accommodations for my daughter and I to ensure she and I could be rested for the next day. I called the Holiday Inn front desk after the 2nd night to request a partial refund of the $275/night cost, for the poor experience. Since I'd made the booking via a 3rd party booking company, I was told to call them instead. Returning home, after a flight with my daughter, I called the 3rd party booking company, who called the Holiday Inn. The front desk had no record of my temperature complaint, so the booking company denied my refund.

I immediately called the Holiday Inn front desk, and spoke to Ilya, I re-explained the situation. He spoke to his manager, Farah. After a hold, Ilya told me Farah made the decision to deny my refund because my booking was pre-paid. I'm quoting Ilya. I explained to Ilya I'd stayed at many Holiday Inns, and this was my first bad experience. It made no difference.

I recognize I could have informed the front desk I was not returning for the 2nd night booking, based on the fact they had not confirmed my room was fixed. This is why I was only asking for a partial refund.

Considering the high prices required to visit Vancouver, I'm especially disappointed with Farah's decision at the Holiday Inn to not uphold the positive Holiday Inn reputation for a great customer experience. I'm disappointed the front desk has no record of my complaint and their promise to look into the temperature issue in my room, as it's now their word against mine and they already have my money. The lesson I learned is to demand evidence of my complaint being documented by the Holiday Inn front desk staff, otherwise they hold all the cards including my $550 payment, and my young daughter and I are fatigued during what was a special family trip. I'm currently unemployed so this experience was especially painful and costly.

I hope other families can learn from my poor experience, and avoid a similar loss of money and time. If anyone at the hotel reads this and has a different perspective, I welcome hearing it.

Update: 1 year+ later, the Holiday Inn has not righted their wrong or offered any type of correction. I'll be picking any other hotel chain in the future to avoid similar issues. Btw, I never right reviews, so this is an exception, from an exceptionally poor experience.
