$27.95 for dinner buffet and $20.95 for lunch buffet. $1 discount for seniors and kids are $2.50 per age. It's always a good time at Hong Kong house food and service wise. It's our go to Chinese buffet place in Nanaimo. They have the biggest selection and best quality. My only issue is the prices for kids and seniors are too high as we feel wasteful to bring them as they eat little. I'm okay with the adult pricing.

The food is disgusting. Owner Chanda Eaps has bugs in the restaurant and won't keep it clean. The place should be shut down permanently and she should be fined.

Oh no! Another previous favourite lost! I've ordered takeout from here many times over the years but I stopped in the other day and decided to eat in. It's been some time since I last had a chance to eat their food and this time was.so disappointing! I ordered a combo. The rice was.okay? It had an odd taste to it, but I figured they might have needed or chosen to change the recipe, and since each Chinese food place can vary quite widely on their flavours I'd probably just get used to it.

I made the mistake of finishing the rice so I could eat the chow mein and s&s pork last.

The chow me in was SO. SALTY. Like did you cook this in the ocean salty.

The s&s was unpleasantly chewy on the inside. The coating was hard in the way something fried gets when it's been cooled and then reheated too long in an attempt to make it crispy again. The sauce itself was more vinegary than I'm used to.

It's very unfortunate, because the service was, as always, stellar, and atmosphere-wise they've done a marvelous job of designing the inside so beautifully that you forget your view outside is parking lots. But I couldn't face another meal like that.

The staff were very friendly and pleasant and worked quickly to accommodate our group of 13.
Their deep fried fish was excellent, hot, perfectly cooked fish with light and crispy batter.
Their deep-fried, battered chicken wings are hands down the best wings I have ever had. And our whole group was in complete agreement on the wings.
There are so many tasty, excellent dishes, and we will definitely return.

Showed up at about 1: 15 on Sunday. Most of the food (except breakfast items like pancakes and sausages) was empty. We had one small plate of the bits there was left. Waited 20 minutes to see if food would be replenished, it was not. Asked one of the workers if more food would be coming out and was told they were cooking and that it was very busy earlier. We waited another 15 and only two items came out. Went to pay after being there for 45 minutes and the employee seemed surprised we were leaving. We asked for a discount as there was no food and we barely ate. The employee offered us the senior rate, for two of us it was still over $40! Do not reccomend, don't waste your time, there are plenty of other buffets in Nanaimo to spend your money at.

I've had this Chinese food many times and would have fought with you about it being the best Chinese in town.
Not anymore, I'm guessing the buffet is the only way to get your money's worth cause I'm unsure how anyone would pay 80 for 3 half full containers of food. The only dish that was enjoyed was the house fried rice, which was the only container that was actually full. Lol. At 20 bucks a dish you'd think they'd fill them!
Main dishes were sad, the hot and spicy squid that was not only a chewy tire but pretty much had a batter on it and no spice but did come with a healthy portion of veggies to fill the bowl lol.
Dry garlic ribs cold and flavour less. And the kicker.the sweet and sour pork couldn't save this meal although was full of lots deep fried batter bites. (That's sarcasm incase your not getting the picture) the cold and oddly really sweet sauce usually can carry a bad meal.
Not tonight sweet and sour pork.not tonight!

Just ordered over $100 worth of the worst chinese food I have ever had. So very disappointed in the quality and taste. Threw most of it out. No point in asking for a refund. The staff was friendly enough but won't order from there ever again.

Best Chinese buffet in town, great variety of food. The waitresses are super nice and helpful. Make sure to check If they have a specific dish on for the day cause mussels are not on everyday and they don't have duck nowadays "due to short in supply"

I ordered lunch for myself from door dash.
I usually don't leave bad reviews but the wonton noodle soup and shrimp dumplings I ordered seem to be store bought dumplings: (
The noodles in the photo of the soup (on doordash) I thought I was ordering were egg noodles, turned out I was wrong, they are just vermicelli noodles. There was no description on what was in the soup or anything else on the menu just photos.
The soup came with 2 slices of carrot and 2 pieces of brocolli and 6 dumplings but waaaaay too many noodles and I only used about a 1/4 of what they sent in my order. Could've been more soup and less noodle portion. $16 wonton noodle soup was something I though would be homemade for the price, the broth wasn't bad but not great either.
The $9 shrimp dumplings seem to just be store bought frozen dumplings. Pretty disappointing for the $30.

Preordered take out for NYE two days (Thursday) ahead for pick up at 6: 30 pm (Saturday). We had ordered Beef Chow Fun (alright), almond chicken (very good) vegetarian chop suey (alright), bbq pork, large portion (mediocre). Total with tax came to 68$, 10% tip to a total of 76$.

I had preordered several days ahead because I knew they would be busy, and wanted to make life easier for everyone involved.

I called Saturday at around 4, to confirm my order and that we would be there to pick up at 6: 30 that night. They confirmed and I was there at 6: 30.

I was told multiple times that my order was just getting packed up, but ended up waiting for 35 minutes, before finally leaving with my food at 7: 10 that Saturday. I assume they started making it when I arrived at the restaurant, as it took thirty-five minutes to get my food.

Something, I had tried very hard to prevent by both preordering two days ahead, and calling earlier that day to confirm my order.

The food was not worth the wait, and quite frankly, had I paid after I gotten the food and waiting the 35 minutes, instead of paying as soon as I got there, being told it was just getting pack up, I would not have tipped.

It was really good but a little pricey.
I think the adult price for buffet was raised to $26.50, which is good if you have a big appetite.
The selection and quality was very good!

We have ordered about 4 times now and have never disappointed! Food had been delivered fast and hot and delicious tasting!

We were so excited to try it out with the good reviews but.we ordered chicken egg foo young but didn't see any meat, so we kept looking at it closely and found few shredded pieces.half way through. The beef pepper dish had four thinly sliced beef and LOTS of vegetables unlike the advertised picture. The two other meat dish we ordered had basically all broccolis and carrots. Bought take out food for the guests, but it was so embarrassing.should have just ordered salad for this price and saved money. Taste is a bit salty, so now we have lots of salty vegetables left.

Waited 45 min for order of 5 dishes take out. Food taste like food court fast food but in restaurant price.

Fantastic selection. Garlic prawns, hot pot. Perfect wok hei flavours. This place is always busy for a reason, the buffet. But order off the menu for the best food.

The food is fresh the wait times short. Excellent selection on the buffet. Popular place and busy.

The pork was not cooked properly I had a very bad stomach issue like food poisoning it was bad for four days firt and last time I order at this place

Ordered take out! They offered %5 off the bill if I payed in cash (which is how I was paying).

The bill was $100. I believe that soend $50=%5 off
$100=%10 off.blah blah blah.

Other options should be spend a certain amount and get rewarded. Free chicken fried rice or chow mein.blah blah blah

Bottom line is the food is fantastic and ill still come back but times are tuff for all of us

Use to be good, ate there for years, but went July 3rd and it was very poor quality for the high price. Won't recommend or return

The buffet was low on choices. Rice was dried out. Sweet and sour pork was very fatty. Pork dumpling also was very fatty. I only ate half of a plate before I was turned off.

Exotic menu in great price. Good hospitality and clean place.
Felt like a feast and can eat them all day

There are more choices for all. Kids, elders, teens - healthy treats.

Absolute best place to eat! Went there with my sister and we did the #tipthebillchallenge and they earned the bill. The service was amazing and all very friendly. The food was so good!

Ordered for first time since reopening IT WILL BE THE LAST! Have always had good food from there until now delivery was prompt but food cold chop suey was three veg raw (not ALdente) with small amount of beef on top and bland as was chowmein fried rice was stone cold no flavour reheating and adding lots of soy sauce couldnt save it worst ever wont eat there again

The foods was kinda bland but the woman on the phone was polite and helpful and knowledgeable about items but the prices were high for the portion

I have been frequenting this establishment for several years now. Their attitude and response to recent pandemics is astounding! The buffet is unbelievable and quite possibly illegal due to current covid 19 protocol?
Amongst many other known Covid-19 protocols not being respected, not one person that entered the establishment signed in or sanitized whilst visiting the buffet.
Future guests be known, the buffet is a disgusting conglomerate of guests bad basic personal hygiene, ignorant and obnoxious staff who clearly do not care! Take a look around if you decide to visit, the place needs a good hose down and deep clean.
It seems this restaurants number 1 priority is numbers in seats (and dollars in cash register) ? Public health, basic cleanliness comes a distant 2nd or 3rd in my opinion.

Tell you what.this is quite possibly the best take-out Chinese food we have ever had.

It was our Thanksgiving dinner.we are on a 7 week vacation drive-around in the 4x4 RV. We had found a street to park on, overlooking the harbour. Phoned in our order.using the address across the road heh heh.

Man.was it ever good!

Not my favorite Chinese place. Some items on buffet were fine others were not. Won ton soup was different, not what was expected.

So far the food is good but I have ordered the mushroom chow mein twice now and the second time it was in the small container even though I ordered the same size. Bad form for a restaurant

When we 1st moved here 2 years ago we went to the Hong-Kong house for dinner with friends and it was very good the soup was delicious we went back again just after the ending of covid and it was horrible so we thought the cook was having a bad day so couple months later we thought we would try it again and is and the wanton soup tasted terrible not the same as our 1st experience And the food all tastes the same no taste all bland we won't be going back and the price is Very high they've raised their prices will not be going back and I will not be recommending this place to anyone.

The buffet was mediocre at best. There was not one item that I could describe as excellent. The food descriptions did not match up with the trays in some cases so it was hard to know what some of the items were. Some items were surprisingly spicy with no warning labels. Many items were tough, dry, and unappealing.
The dessert bar and salad bar was quite tasty.
There was one customer walking around and taking items from the food bars who was not wearing a mask and not sanitizing his hands before getting food. Very poor staff attention to this.

I have been a customer of Hong Kong House for many years. I have a favorite couple of dishes that I have always ordered that cost around 30 dollars
The prices have gone up small amounts for a few years. This last price increase cost 8 dollars for the two dishes. I understand that delivery costs are driving the business model but the owners have to be sensitve not to overcharge those of us who pick up our food. If I had spent 4 dollars more they have advertised they will deliver for free. I should not be forced to subsidize the delivery service on takeout picked up orders. I will no longer order food from this restaurant unless they go back to the old pricing structure, there is not the value given the quality of the food.

Western-style Chinese food that keeps you coming back for more. That there's nothing really special about this place is somehow why it's special. Not cheap, but can always be counted on for good food and friendly staff.

Food was okay, BUT, take out was MORE expensive than other take out chinese food places. I paid $25 more here on the same 6 items that I always get elsewhere. Not impressed.

Great customer service. Friendly & professional, but the chow main got me and my boyfriend mild sick. Also he took a bite from his sweet & sour pork and it was all black on the inside. I posted a picture of it.

We just had dinner at Hong Kong house. The food was not bad but the customers in the restaurant were nasty. To have a first nations person call me a white man a d reporting him for not wearing mask. There is signs though out the restaurant that masks must be on while getting your food. Get that a Indian calling me a white guy. Who is the racist. I will never go back there nor will I ever feel sorry for a first nations person again.

It has good food but if you want minimum service where they look at you and say oh yeah and never come back for awhile. Very busy at certain hours. We went after the rush so service should have not been poor.

The proteins on the dinner buffet were not good. Rubbery squid. Grainy black bean ribs. Overdone lemon chicken - possibly sitting too long. Tough peel-and-eat shrimp. I’ve been many times and I’m usually quite happy. After a 15% tip, my bill was about $32.00. My money would have been better spent elsewhere.
