Horne Lake Caves

Got there a little late in the afternoon, going to head back earlier in the day to do some further exploring. Well marked trail system and interesting interpretation centre.

We took 2.5 hour cave tour at Horne Lakes Caves over American Thanksgiving. What a great educational tour. Erin, our guide, was both knowledgeable and passionate about caving. The path to the trails was uphill but manageable for most people with a moderate fitness level. The caves themselves were easy to navigate and Erin made the pace slow giving people time to acclimate to the new surroundings.

The park area around the caves is beautiful with the lake and many trails to explore. A visit to Horne Lake is a lovely day trip at any time of year for people young and old. Bring your own food and dress appropriately (see Lake Horne Cave tour video for what to wear), clean bathrooms are available. We will be back in the summer to do more caving with Horne Lake Caves.

This was my second time visiting the caves and my first time on a tour with a guide, and I highly recommend going on one of the tours! Our guide TJ was super knowledgeable and entertaining, and I learned a lot, along with having a fantastic experience exploring the caves. I can't wait to come back!

Amazing! I have been twice this summer, and I hope I can go back some time in the future. Miles and Connor were both great guides, making the experience fun while also ensuring my group's safety.
Here's what I think cavegoers should know:
- Dress warm! Caves are around 8°, if I'm remembering correctly
- The helmet was uncomfortable for me, but fine when I wore a thick beanie underneath
- Wear waterproof shoes with warm socks
- Don't wear jackets with buttons if you're doing the max depth adventure. Belly crawling will rip off the buttons.
- Bring a snack (granola bars, dried fruit or nuts are ideal - but ask if anyone has airborne allergies)
- Wear gardening gloves!
- Wear something with pockets, as bags are not allowed
- Ask the front desk to hold onto your car keys
This is a once in a lifetime experience. Enjoy yourself! It can be scary, but it's so worth it:)

My brother and I grew up on the island, always aware of the caves, but never visited them. Now at 37 & 42 we finally went, and it was awesome:)
Shout-out to our guide Chlo, who was 10/10 in terms of safety, knowledge, and good vibes, making for a great experience. We completed the Achilles challenge and would definitely come back for the Max Depth!

We booked the 1,5 hour action tour and it was a lot of fun!
Our guide Adam did a great job and shared some of his knowledge about Caves and was able to answer any questions. He also gave great recommendations for the area and in general took very good care of the group!

Amazing! I've done the multicave experience twice now. Both times the tour guides were funny and interactive. They shared information in a fun way NOT a boring museum monotone voice. The guides obviously enjoy their jobs. Most of the challenges are optional. It is pretty cool to be able to say I climbed an underground waterfall. I can't wait to go for the full day rapelling and belly crawling one next year!

Although it was a bit pricey, we have no regrets. Tour guide Curtis was very knowledgeable and passionate about these caves and caving in general. We'd definately suggest it to others.

We had a great tour with TJ. He's obviously very passionate about caving and shared not only the information about the caves but also his adventures! He was very humorous and we had a great time with him! He explained anything that was a challenge and ensured our safety at all times! Highly recommend!

This was so fun! Our guide, Ryan, was really personable. Some adventurous climbing and sliding and geological facts that were very enriching for my above-ground soul.

I had a very enjoyable experience with climbing/traveling through the Horne Lake Caves. It involved a good balance of reasonable exciting risks with improved knowledge of the need to care for the caves' delicate environment. Our guide, Ryan, with his fine, dry sense of humour, kept us safe and on our toes to delight in this experience, and yet to be mindful and respectful of our surroundings.

Had a great time on the cave tour! Highly recommend for a fun outing for everyone!
Our tour guide Oscar was amazing, he shared lots of interesting facts and information about the surrounding nature and the cave itself, answered all our questions and kept us well entertained with his sly jokes and puns.

We hope to come back soon to experience the other cave tours that they offer.

Really cool experience. Our guide was TJ, making great puns during the tour, but also giving a lot of interesting informations.
We did the multi cave tour, but even I, as a unexperienced cave visitor, would have wished it to be more challanging. But I also want to state, that I'm not afraid of heights, nor narrow spaces.

If you choose the multi cave tour I would strongly recommend to wear something that is suitable for a slide. I'm sure it would have been more exciting, if I had actually sild on that thing ;)

First visit to the Horne Lake Caves. Such a cool experience, I highly recommend. Hopefully your guide is Oscar, he's pretty awesome.

Great caving experience with our passionate, knowledgeable, professional and fun instructor Chloe!

Ryan was our guide and it was our first time cave exploring. He was very knowledgeable and conversations are littered with dad jokes. We did a 2.5-3 hours (?) multicave tour and it's pretty eye opening and intense in some areas. It's not scary at all and it's a great attraction/ trip to have on the island.

Highly recommended!

1) book in advance
2) bring your own rainboots - you can still rent it for $6 a pair.
3) bring waterproof clothes that you won't care too much because.you will find out later =)

We have been on numerous cave tours internationally, this experience was more like caving than any other tourist cave we have been in. The caves are presented in their natural condition and tour participants squeeze through/climb over obstacles while learning about caves. The tour operator is professional and Oscar was an excellent, and entertains, guide.

We loved the multi cave tour with our witty guide Ryan. Expect to get a little dusty and maybe muddy and to challenge yourself as you climb and descend through the caves. We’d love to go back for a longer tour. Family, two kids ages 12 and 14.

What a day! Thanks to Ryan our guide for the corney dad jokes that made this tour awesome and fun! This was a great first caving experience, and I can't wait for the next one!

September 11th 2022, myself and 3 other good buddies went and did the 4 1/2 guided tour. We did the max depth adventure! Our guide zach was unreal extremely knowledgeable and took the time to truly show us his passion. I fully recommend any of the services provided there but strongly recommend the max depth! Thanks for the memories zach and horne lake caves i will absolutely be back!

Best caving experience in my life and I have never done it before ever. When to this cave when I was like 8 and have been doing it ever since and when I go to the island. Now I'm 26 and I still love doing it and it feels like a whole new adventure every time. The crew and staff are very nice and really know the stuff so I highly recommend doing these caves when your in the area. Highly recommend doing the multi cave tour that's the best and is worth the money.

We had a great time on the max-depth tour with Emiel. He was knowledgeable and fun as well as reassuring as I crawled through the tight squeezes of the cave. The rapelling was a lot of fun and it was fabulous to see so many fossils in the ancient sea floor. Definitely recommend.

One hour Main Cave Experience with Alex and AJ
It was our first caving experience with very wonderful tour guides- Alex and AJ. Absolute darkness, Living Room recliner rock with drink caddy, can opener rock on the slide and the cheese grater made our experience more memorable- definitely thinking of having more fun in the caves again!

This place was amazing! I thought I'd feel claustrophobic but didn't at all. Our guide Antoine was an absolute beauty and we were happy to be part of his last day. I'd highly recommend this place and Chloe at the information center/gift shop was very friendly and helpful aswell! 10/10 would go again
