Pretentious restaurant.
You can tell they try to target a certain market but in my opinion, it is not there.
Service is slow and the soup base (tomato and Tom yum) was salty.
The soup is missing that umami flavour.
My plum juice never arrived.
Ordered 5 plates of beef but only 2 plates came BUT upon our request.
My picture tells a lot - it’s empty!
This place will go out of business soon.
Everyone, go to Chocho for AYCE hotpot.

Edit* I also wanted to add that that the dining experience was so poor that I even skipped dessert. I was extremely turned off!

Went there for the AYCE + sashimi. Food and service wasn't the best for the price. Meat and sashimi was ok quality.

Everything took a while to come to the table and they brought the card machine at around an hour and 40 minutes in to the meal to remind us we had to leave within 2 hours. We weren't even finished eating and they came back 30 minutes later telling us we had to leave within 10 minutes.

Every hot pot place I've been to has given an individual scooper and communal chopsticks per person. This place did not. We had 2 scoopers and 2 pairs of chopsticks per person. We ended up asking for extra sets of communal chopsticks to speed up the cooking process per person.

Their sides were set as a bar style free for all and you could see flies flying around them.

I was thinking that this place was newly opened but apparently it was not. I probably will not come back here

This place scammed their customers! I used to be a loyal customer for many years. They sold us a VIP card saying for future any bills can be 22% off.and so we bought it for $100, thinking we come here all the time so its worth it. We purchased the card end of Oct, they said we can only start using it in Nov. We only get to use it once.then in Dec they put out the AYCE menu suddenly. WHICH you cannot use the VIP card with that menu! And that is the ONLY menu you can choose.

We tried it out last night, and the soup base we used to love is sukiyaki, its SOOO tasteless compare to before, its taste like just water with a little soy sauce. They replaced the entire menu, they no longer have the quality pork meat, (only one pork dish to choose from), they also took all the quality shrimp paste and cuttlefish paste. The meat balls are NO LONGER the same.they are now using cheap fish and meat balls from t&t.

Lastly, the sauce bar has NO satay sauce! I have never encounter a hot pot restaurant has no satay sauce to supply!

it was extremely disappointed, all the quality items we used to love are all gone.and now we are stuck with a VIP card that does not do us anything! This is a huge SCAM! We paid $100 for the freaking card.and its useless! I am considering reporting to consumers association of canada for this!

They used to have a very comfortable enviorment for dining.but its now turned into a terrible experience. They rushed you from the beginning when they assigned you your table, without even giving you a chance to look at the menu, they will rush you to order the soup base ASAP, and then when you order second round, they take forever to bring you the second round food.then they take away all your plates and chopsticks when its not even the 2 hours yet.

The restaurant is chaotic! We booked a table two days ago, and arrived 10 minutes earlier than the schedule. We ended up waiting 40 minutes to get a seat! We asked to share the table with other guests, otherwise we would have to wait longer. They arranged for us to sit in the waiting area, which looked like just a temporary table.
In addition, the staff are rude and inpatient, a terrible experience!

Today we had a very disappointed experience with the Black Friday promotion during happy hour.we had made a reservation at 2pm, arrived on time. Unfortunately the half price seafood platter that was one of the biggest promotions for BF was out of stock (not sold out!), so we ended up picking other items on their regular menu. Surprisingly, 2 of their signature soup base were out of stock and we weren't told until we started getting our sauce.few items that we wanted to pick on their regular menu was also not available neither. Their menu was quite limited to begin with, so it was hard to pick what we really wanted because the ones we planned to pick were all not available. The staff did apologized but we had no choice but to leave with an empty stomach. Won't be going back again

Great quality meat. I like the sauce station. Service is very attentive. Ambiance is private and feels comfortable.

The ingredients are very fresh but overall it's quite pricey. Servers were very attractive.

How pathetic is this portion size for 23 dollars. Only 4 pieces of chicken on the rice and the chicken are dry as well. Food court is even better than this place. I would not recommend anyone to get there rice bowls here.

Edit: The store is now saying 23 dollars of buy one get one is for two bowls that means if you get buy one get one, u get the portion split in to two bowls. Which it’s not even buy one get one. Why not just put 11.5 dollars for a bowl then? Because there’s actually compensation from Uber and it will be 35 dollars into store for two bowls not 23 dollars.

Servers there don't show team work, the one person was doing it all. The female waiter acts very arrogant, we asked for our bill and she leaves and calls the other waiter (who went on lunch break) to serve our bill. They dont make eye contact, you really need to wave and call them out before you get any attention, might as well walk out so they give you some attention.

Our waiter forgot to serve our rice or noodles that came with dine out, he apologized but if the servers were showing some team work and really knew what serving is all about, they might get good business but as of now, It was good trying but not going back.

The seafood is fresh and the meat cuts are big, only problem is their service. Its really bad that I cannot recommend this place to my friends.

We had a private room for a birthday party. Broths had good flavor, but meat was quite small portion for the price. I understand they are trying to be more upscale, but it really felt like there wasn't much. Some veggie plates were "portioned" for two, but it didn't look like double the platter for one. You'd get one piece of tofu per person, half a mushroom, some greens, etc. We were a big group, but the dishes took over 1.5hrs to come out, and our waiter wasn't even sure what the items were sometimes.

One of the freshest hot pot place in Richmond and they just released a lunch menu as of Mar 5 2023.1) It is super affordable. Their hot pot set starts off at $27.80 and it comes with soup, meat, assorted veggies, noodles and dipping sauce (no extra charge). And if you want extra meat, you can get $6.99 for a plate of Beef Short Plate. Their meat is super high quality, especially their Wagyu.

2) UNLIMITED HANDMADE NOODLE/RICE. YES THEY HAVE UNLIMITED NOODLE OR RICE. AND IT GOES GREAT WITH THEIR BROTH.

3) Great selections from soup to sauce to meat. Thet have an amazing selection of free soup broth like Chicken Broth, Spicy Broth, Tom Yum, Tomato and much more. You can pay a bit extra for their delicious Lobster Bisque soup. And their sauce bar is super well organized and there is free edamame, wood ear fungus and peanuts. And for meat, they have beef, pork, lamb, Wagyu and even A5 Wagyu

Both me and my boyfriend had diarrhea after eating here on valentines night. The service was okay. The waiter kept forgetting our food but you can tell he tried his best and he did apologize for slow service. They had a sauce bar but we and the table next to us got acknowledged after we already ate half way. I’ll stick with haidilao where the ambiance might not be upscale as this hotpot place, but I never had diarrhea problem!

They changed their menu. This is the worse hotpot that I’ve ever had. They said soup has to be cooked longer for a better taste. I’m not there to wait, I’m there to eat. Service was excellent, however food was very disappointed.

On June 25 around 11am, I was calling in to order take out for personal hotpot combo.the person told me that they dont have it for lunch, and asked me to call in at 3: 00pm to order. (and yeah, they don't put their lunch or dinner menu anywhere on the internet) So i waited 4 hours, and called at 3pm, they told me to order at 5: 30pm or 5: 50pm. This is ridiculous. So they pretty much just ask me to wait for all day. I will never oder this place again.

We weren't sure what to expect when we booked a private room for a birthday dinner. When we got there we were greeted by the hostess and guided to our room. The server we had was amazing. She had a great attitude, very smiley and provided excellent service. She remember what every one ordered in terms of drinks and was continually changing plates. Food was excellent from foie gras wagyu sushi appy to the a5 wagyu we order for our hotpot.

Best hotpot! We definitely ordered a little too much but wow it was really great. The sushi was also pretty good. We were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of fish. The wagyu was amazing. We loved the truffle pork meat balls and the foie gras cuttlefish balls so much. The soup bases were great! We got half and half. The Sichuan one was a bit too spicy for us but the flavor was overall nice. If you like Sichuan food, you would definitely like the soup! The staff was so nice. The dessert was free and it was DELICIOUS. This is a must have every time we come visit Vancouver now!

Must try their: tomato pork bone soup, fish puff, fried fish skin, fortune tofu bag, truffle pork balls, cuttel fish foie gras balls and crystal noodles!

Fresh food, option of individual or big hot pot. This was taken in a private room. Highly recommend them!

Dine in is currently still not available but they are offering new Donburi takeout options.

I got to try out their grilled Angus short ribs and ikura and the beef cubes. My favourite was the short ribs, absolutely delicious and tender. Each slice was cooked perfectly and lots of umami with the egg and ikura. The beef cubes with black truffle sauce was delicious too. I can really taste the high quality of the beef. The portions felt just right! I would recommend upgrading to the combo ($3.5) which includes kimchi, salad and miso soup.

An enjoyable Dineout experience. Love the interactive personal pot of boiling broth in front of you to DIY cook.

The scoop on the food:

Motoyaki Hokkaido Scallop:
A SCRUMPTIOUS juicy fat scallop nestled on a bed of purple and green seaweed salad. Two bites of fine yum. Just enough to tickle the tongue.

Hot pot with beef slices and the included veggie sides and udon:

Tasty broth (I had the pepper pork intestine and chicken soup). Believe me it tastes way better than it sounds. I liked how it was not too salty but still rich in flavor. In terms of hot pot. It's quite standard tasting but good. However, the presentation was quite fabulous.

Dessert of Fruit and Red Bean Jellied Tofu:

A nice refreshing cool finish to a comfortable tasty meal. Pineapple was fresh and the right amount. Red bean and tofu tasted great.

Service was excellent. The service style is like Asian Singapore Airlines type service haha.

The restaurant is very clean and shining. Kinda like nice hotel lobbies.

Excellent soup in hot pot. Display eye-catching food remedies. Very good and quality of services.

First time having hotpot this year at hotpot palace. I usually eat here every month. The service is not as welcoming as before. We didn’t even get greeted with simple hello or anything. I always get fruit or some kind of dessert but I was not offered anything. There was no restaurant music playing, nobody else seated besides us, the soup base was very bland this time as well.not sure what happened. This used to be my favourite hotpot place.

Favorite hot pot in Vancouver by far. For the soup base, we got the pork bone and tomato soup and spicy soup, both are on point and good. Food is fresh and I think there is a new manager, her service is good.

Went for the dineout and it was very worth. The food and the portions were perfect for 1 person. The tomato soup base is my personal favorite with the large pork bone. The price can be quite high if not for dineout.

I tried the dine out menu. Its pretty good.but compared to the previous dine out menu, they have removed the choice of rice or noodles and also prawns.

Went here for dineout with my two little kids. Awesome customer service and very understanding of toddlers.

The food here was magnificent! I tried many hot pot places but this one made me feel like I was flying to heaven. Lol.

Food was good but I saw a member of the staff put fruit on the ice without gloves and just her hands, It is disgusting especially because of COVID-19!

Fine dining of Chinese hotpot. Wide range of selection with medium price. Dishes are prepared attentively. Fresh ingredients and good environment. Friendly staff. Good for dating and family casual.

I used to love hot pot palace!
My friends and I would go there at least twice a week for the last 3 years. Every New Year’s Eve we would celebrate there as well. Things have gone downhill ever since December. There’s a new manager there and it seems like they have been cheaping out. Their portions of beef seem less than usual, their broth doesn’t have as much flavour anymore and also the fruits that they give you at the end of the dinner are cut into paper thin slivers. Customer service has gone down as well. My friends and I have never been rushed out of the restaurant before. We were always allowed to stay a bit longer than closing hours. It’s such a shame because hot pot palace used to be our fav hot pot restaurant.

I like the Kobe beef the most. And excellent service as well as the atmosphere. 5-star recommend.

Hotpot soup was bland. It’s quite overpriced as well. Went there for their sushi as well, it was SOOOO overpriced that I was in disbelief. I much rather go to Dolar Shop down the block for them.

The service is great though!

Hot pot palace is one of my favourite places for hotpot. One of the main reasons is because of the customer service from Skye. She provides the best customer service each time I’ve visited the restaurant and always makes sure that we enjoy our dining experience whenever we come to hotpot place.

Nice place. Decent decoration. Nice surface. The beef was good but a little pricy. The pork was really though.

Very authentic Taiwanese cuisine, loved the hotpot, super savoury and warms the stomach. No to mention the environment, nice decoration, it is very relaxing and clean, compliments with good service.

It was clean and quiet. A tad pricier then traditional everyday hot pot in Richmond but You get for what you pay for! You get what you order, and everything is straight forward. No dessert menu which is fine since you are in Richmond and already with so many other choices. Want HotPot? Give this place a try!
