House of Knives

Their sharpening skill are terrible. Not only could I not slice a tomato with my newly "sharpened" knife, I couldn't even slice through the skin on a bell pepper. Took my knives to a real knife guy and he laughed at their supposedly-recently-sharpened condition and did them properly.

Wow! These guys know their stuff. Went in to look at pocket knives as I heard they were going to be getting some new knives in soon. As a bit of a knife nerd I have been visiting the two stores in town for a few years to occasionally check in and see whats new. This is the first visit that has made me want to write a review. Sometimes in the past I've noticed that management seemed a little lax or the staff was a bit apathetic or just generally lacking in knowledge. I'm pleasantly surprised and happy to report that this seems to be a thing of the past. On my last visit I was helped by a guy (pretty sure his name was Jesse), and not only was he attentive and very knowledgeable, but I was happy to find he was also a knife nerd! What is usually just a 5 minute visit and browse for me turned into a 45 minute vibe over the knives and a good chat about our regular carries. I hope this guy is the manager and sticks around because I've never felt more welcomed or had a more pleasant experience at house of knives before. You did good finding this one house of knives. Thanks for the stellar experience.

Worst experience, today I went to drop my resume at mayfair house of knife. The lady manager commented on my attitre and I felt it really unprofessional.

I wish to thank Aakash at the Hillside Mall, Victoria for his patience and kindness in helping me find a gift. I finally choose a set of steak knives and the couple are delighted with the gift. Great Store.

It was absolutely fine young girl that serve me was very knowledgeable and helpful. They have a great selection if you ask the right questions to get the answers that you're looking for. And they're very accommodating with letting you see what is on the shelves

I had a great experience yesterday while visiting this business. I had two kitchen knives to sharpen but I also had never taken a good look at higher quality knives to see how the quality compares. Bikram greeted me warmly when I walked on and she explained that she was just finishing helping a customer and she would be right over to help me soon. She handled my initial request and answered all of my questions about several kitchen knives available in her store. She smiled often and made me feel very welcome in the store. She had my knives sharpened a bit sooner than the normal delivery time, which I really appreciated. She gave me lots of great info and tips on how to use, clean and maintain knives. I really appreciated her professional and friendly service. Please share my thanks with her.

Had a positive shopping experience here. Though I knew what item I needed, I did not know the specifics. The staff member was very helpful in explaining the difference in products, not pushing the most expensive, but showing me what I actually needed and checking that it was compatible with my other product. Good customer service.

I have to say that the service we received this evening from Bikram Khan (the nice lady behind the counter) was above and beyond, the questions I asked were answered thoroughly.and nice people like her make shopping more bearable especially in the holiday season.thanks again Bikram and look forward to shopping at your store again soon. Ryan was a great help at helping us find a missing kitchen knife. Was giving us demonstrations and being very helpful. Knives were a bit expensive but that is to be expected for high quality. Gave us a lot of options to choose from. Definitely shopping from here again.

They ruined my chef's knife. Worst sharpening job ever. Blade came back with edge not straight. It doesn't make full contact with the cutting board any more. I asked for a touch up, they took off 2mm.

Refused to provide sharpening services. Was told the manager had stopped their sharpening services as they have a week and a half backlog. I stated a couple week wait was fine but they didn’t want to hear it. We had called before we made the trip out to the store (knives came down from up island).

I had 2 complimentary sharpening coupons after making the knife purchase at the store, shame I will never get to use them. I’m sure there are plenty of small businesses that appreciate new clients, unlike this store.
