H&R Block

Have absolutely no idea what they are doing. Thought I might get some better advice here but it's actually a joke how bad these accountants are. Better off just doing it yourself

I am absolutely appalled by their outrageous filing fees, and finding it difficult to wrap my head around how ruthless and inconsiderate H&R Block is, especially towards those that have been loyal customers for many years.

Tax season may be one of the most daunting times of year. Not only is our country, let alone the world, going through a recession - we are also struggling to make ends meet on a daily basis with the never ending rising inflation costs of basic essentials, food, housing, and fuel.

I am incredibly dissapointed by their inability to hold up to their promise to those they serve.especially when they boast their generosity and commitment to helping those facing poverty and homelessness.

They state they have a program called Returning Hope to Canadians. When my spouse inquired about any existing programs for those struggling with homelessness or experiencing extreme hardship, she was told that they did not offer such thing and was charged $414.00!

For a half hour appointment she was charged $129.99, $129.00, $89.99 for tax preparation fees, and three charges of $14.99 for "Peace of Mind".

Granted this was for three years of unfiled taxes, but the bottom line is that the cost of their filing fees is inhumane and unethical.

Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, loss of employment, housing instability, and constant upheaval - resulting in homelessness due to an illegal and wrongful eviction, we haven't had the time, finances, nor the ability to have our taxes done until now.

The fact is, that return is our only hope to having money for first months rent, damage deposit, pet deposit, and moving costs. We depend greatly on that return, and to have $414 taken from the return is heartwrenching.

That being said, It's extremely important that H&R Block offer cheaper filing fees for those that are experiencing a crisis or experiencing financial hardship. Their return is their only means of gaining financial security, let alone a peace of mind for any situation they may be experiencing at this time.

I wish I could give ZERO stars. I have never experience such poor customer service. Do not get your taxes done here. My mother (59) took her taxes to be done at this location. She paid upwards of $160. She was told she would be getting a refund.
The following week she receives a call from the agent saying there was an error with her taxes. He begins saying she didn’t disclose collecting old age pension etc. She is 59, she has never collected old age pension. Her age was recorded wrong by H and R block: despite providing them her drivers licence. The agent then went on to say she now owed CRA $400. And he would send an email with the updated information for her to sign.
Nothing was ever sent to her email and the adjusted tax form was submitted to CRA without consent. Meanwhile, in the weeks to follow, my brother and I called this location NUMBEROUS times asking to speak with a supervisor. We told the assistant we did not want them handling the taxes any further, and would do them ourselves. We were left with “They are out of office” “try again tomorrow” “we will get them to call you”. The list goes on. Save yourself the trouble and avoid H and R Block Harvey.

Could not have had a worse experience. They told me it would take a couple of days. It took three and a half weeks of calling and losing all my taxes from the past 7 years. I called and spoke with 10 people, no help and no clue who had them or what was going on. Finally went in after weeks of searching and received attitude and more blank faces. Finally got my files back unfinished. Exceptionally stressful and horrible job done. Go with HR block if you want them to lose your entire life’s tax history and get treated badly in the meantime.

Terrible experience with this office. Received NoA from CRA and now my refund hasn't been deposited into my account. Was told by one lady that the card issued was not on my file, then told by another employee it was and that h&r Block takes more time to deposit money. This is the biggest joke of a franchise I have ever been to in my life. Very I'm professional and will be informing others not to use this location

Shout out to the amazing Virginia at H&R on Harvey. I came in to get my taxes done and it was a little crazy with people but she was calm, collected and so awesome controlling the situation. They got my taxes done so fast and I was just a walk in. Great job.

I'm very happy with the professional service and value I received here, especially the fact that Dennis took the time to explain things I didn't quite understand. I will be back next year.

Frank is the best. He has years of experience and it shows. He has done my taxes for a few years now.
He has always has been very helpful, and explained everything to me. His expertise is worth every penny spent. Thanks again Frank.

A little more expensive than expected but the staff was very nice and helpful. I would use them again.

Visited this location this week and WOW I was blown away with the service I received. My person that prepared my taxes was very professional and explained my situation clearly. I cant recommend this place enough from the wonderful receptionist to the friendly smiling faces of all that worked there. I was very pleasently surprised. Excellent job all round.

I was walking through the park the other day, trying to enjoy one of our 5 seasons. Summer, Spring, Fall, Winter, and Income Tax Season. The ladder of which I don't enjoy. ;)

So if your hours say open at 9.you should probably make sure your doors are actually open at 9.

Me and my brother got similar returns of 1000$ to 1100$
But he got instant cheque with less fee of 82$
While they charged me 113$ without instant cheque
And the lady at reception tried to convince me of being charged less than others having similar amounts
Worst service ever Wont recommend to anybody
And H&R BLOCK U OWE ME THAT EXTRA 30$

The staff is rude, they never get back to you.
Called monday no answer left a message, called again nothing. And then by friday finally got ahold of someone after calling 4 times and leaving 2 messages. The lady was rude on the phone and then also in person. Talked to 3 different people who were all rude. Was told they'd call me back then after 5 hours no callback. Receptionist had the nerve to say have you ever been busy at work when they had 9 hours to get my file out yet when I arrived had no idea where it was. So we went to a different H&R and the lady there had no clue what she was doing and took 3 hours to do basic taxes that usually only take an hour tops from past experiences there. Boycotting H&R have had nothing but rude workers & people who have no ide what's going on or how to do their job properly. I honestly dont even feel confident that they are correct now that they are done. Awful customer service!

A representative called Dennis Scott did my taxes. He was very friendly and professional and had me out of there in 30 minutes. Great service.

Hello to HR or anyone reading this to see if reviews hekp you decide on using them for taxes, ERNEST POW, lol he is outstading in his work, he has done my dads final tax (T5), which with the worst bank ive ever known (CIBC), who caused my dads T5, to be 3 years and may be 4 in 2 short months (uhhh, lost gics to issuing gics as spousal etc), 4 errors that each were 4 months in delay, but 1000% to the BEST DAMN TAXMAN, again go see ERNEST POW, chase him down. Lol its worth going to whicj ever offuce he is at

I will not be returning to H&R. I was charged extra for a complicated return. It was not complicated, I had one form missing of which I had to chase down the bank for. Literally took maybe 20mins of their time and when I asked for advice for future returns I recieved nothing.

My Representative was Very good at explaining everything clearly and helpful with any questions I had, I did four years of taxes and actually ended up getting more back with far less hassle than if I would have done them my self. Thanks H&R Block!

Was surprised by how bad the service was at this location. We used an H&R block in osoyoos last year and since we moved we opted to try this one since we had a really good experience last year. Firstly the guy who did our taxes barely said 3 words to us. He didn't ask any questions or explain what he was doing. On top of it, we got charged almost $400 for my husband and my return, we only paid $150 for both of us last year in osoyoos. When we asked why the price difference he said it was because we had children and we each had changed jobs? Needless to say, won't be back, will not recommend.

First time I had filed my taxes with H&R block and I must admit I was a bit sceptical but I had a great experience here from the lovely office staff to the very helpful tax preparer. I even got a good deal to hand out to my friends of $25 off and each time they do I receive $25 etransfer.

Great staff polite and get the job done fast and we got a good refund too highly recommend this location.
