Hugo's Mexican Kitchen

At first they would not seat us inside, but the manager came outside before we got back to our car. She apologized and sat us. I wasn't put off by this as they do have outside seating, only it was really cold that night. The food is not as good as being in Mexico, but it is good and we will come back.

The food was incredible, great friendly service and a small inviting atmosphere. Prices were very good too!

Delicious Mexican inspired cuisine with limited seating. I recommend the Burrito with chicken or beef if you're really hungry, or the Chicken Enchiladas if you're looking for something lighter. Our preference was the red sauce, but try the red and green to find your preference! Make a reservation to ensure you've got a seat!

Hidden gem, not being from Chilliwack, I had no idea they had so many resturants to choose from. I randomly selected Hugo's simply because I felt like Mexican Food, and the photos looked quite good. The prices are a bit high at 6.25$ per taco or 3 for 20$, but I went during a special night and opted for the included meal, the taco locos, and taco soup. The soup has a lovely base, spicy but in a good way, for $14 per bowl I would have liked to see more than a tiny piece of avocado on the side and maybe some shredded cheese. The locos taco was a good portion, but I found my chicken filling to be a bit dry. It had a fine enough taste but could have used some salsa or something. Otherwise, the wait staff were quite friendly and somewhat efficient, but I would 100% return and try a new dish!

Great food. Not as affordable as it used to be but all delicious. Their salsas are amazing!

I've been to Hugo's a couple times and have enjoyed it so much each time. The service has always been great and the food even better. The location isn't the best right beside the busy road but still worth it to go!

I have dined twice at Hugo's, and both experiences did not disappoint. Great service, beautiful presentation and their unique salsas, satiate any palate looking for the right combination of spice and flavoring. The enchiladas or the burritos are an easy go to when you're not quite sure what to snag off the menu.

Authentic Mexican menu, food was amazing overall, especially the prawn ceviche. Los tacos are legit. Really enjoyed both the beef & chicken

Service was ok - the waitress was not very attentive, even when waved over, despite us being the only table in a 4 table interior and empty patio, with a few other wait staff present.

The food is worth going back again & again.though we may get takeout in the future

This is the best Mexican Restaurant in the Fraser Valley and the Lower Mainland. El Nopel (in Sumas) is just as good, but it is in the USA.

The place and service are top class. No complaints there, the food however was quite bland to our liking.
I expected Mexican food to taste a bit more spicy it was lemony at best. The chicken could have been shredded better and a sauce bottle per table would have helped make the tortillas slightly better if their concern was about how most others might take it.
Mexican food with zero heat is a big let down in my books.

We arrived without a reservation with 6 people and they accommodated us kindly between reservations and the food was delicious! Very friendly service:)

Amazing food and service. They have another location in langley where I go quite often so I have no doubts about the food taste.
This restaurant is convenient to find but the plaza exit is little tricky else every thing else is awesome.

Some of the best food in Chilliwack, particularly if you're vegan or vegitarian. They're very accommodating and have great options.

Ordered their beef, pork & chicken tacos. Flavours didn’t cut through all the way. Maybe finishing the tacos with meat jus would go a long way as they were a bit dry. Asked for a side of salsa verde and was given i think jalapeño, tomatillo and ancho chile salsas.

Probably the closest to authentic Mexican ice had in a long time. Amazing prices and great staff.

While the food is always great, the tipping options on the debit machine are manipulative. It puts 25% tip at the top.

Look, 25% is for *excellent* service. Our server did not pour our water, she placed it on our table and left. Similarly, when I was time to go, she handed me a takeout container to do it myself. She checked in with us once.

I get it, that's fine. But that is not 25% tip service. If you're going to make 25% tip the *default* option, your servers had better be up to the task. Otherwise, just make it like every other machine with 10/15/20% options.

Try the enchiladas, they're delicious.

Delicious food but wish the place was a bit bigger, so everyone could sit more comfortably. The food was amazing as always. Their tacos de pastor and cauliflower (chef's kiss) we also tried their chile relleno wish the cheese would have been a bit more melted inside. But over all very yummy

Alicia's is nearby and way better. This location deep fried my enchiladas which technically makes them a chimichanga. $4.50 for a small side of guacamole is a bit much also.

Small quaint dining room with great food and energetic staff. Portion were great to to fill you and the beef is extremely flavourful. Beer was cold but the customer service was warm and made the experience better. Food recommendations were solid and Kayla was very knowledgeable on other city must-tries.

Picked up takeaway today! It was delicious and very similar to what I remember having when they first opened.

The food was hot and fresh when we picked it up. Very tasty but the tacos didn't make it for the drive home all that well and did end up a bit soggy. Overall would definitely go back but likely for dine in

My husband and I absolutely fell in love with Hugo’s and when we got engaged we knew we wanted them with us on our day!

We had the best time at our tasting. The staff was so wonderful and sat down with us to discuss all of our hopes for the food. We needed gluten free options as well as vegan (while also serving chicken) and even with our complicated request they executed it beautifully! Months later we still have people talking about the cactus tacos! Our caterers on the day set up and took down without us even noticing, I didn’t even realize they left before I could thank them.

We could not have asked for a better experience for our wedding! You will not be disappointed when hiring them!

Disappointing. Our burrito was a tortilla wrapped around rice. Blah! Veg options were all fried so passed. Slightest hint of salsa, less of guacamole. Some lettuce. I tasted cheese in one bite. Our waitress was most pleasant and got me (not my nicer husband) some more runny refried beans. Best was a discount. Actually the draft beer was great. Not for vegetarians who don't want a lot of fat.

Food is okay. Although, their pick up time is pretty much always inaccurate. On multiple times, today included, I have been quoted 45-55 minute pick up and when I get there I end up waiting 20+ minutes or more. It's like they don't make the food unless you show up or something? Waiting 1.5 hours for your food is ridiculous to begin with, especially when this consistantly occurs but for this to consistantly happen WITHOUT A COURTESY CALL OR TEXT Is completely inconsiderate. To sum it up, when it comes to pick up, you can't really depend on their estimate time at all, so it's a gamble of our time! Not impressed.

Not a great visit after the renos! Not great service due to limited staff, food was no where near as good and of course not worth the $. We went in the summer (no AC) which didn't help matters. We felt for the staff wearing masks and we could hardly wait to finish up and get out of there. We noticed others inside trying to leave as fast as possible. Folks outside fared much better.

Sit down next to a busy road, inhale the exhaust fumes while you wait 15 minutes for a table and another 20 minutes for service when you are at the table. Feel the uncomfortable metal seats dig into your back. Food was not that great either, not sure why anyone would pay for this experience.

Super tasty food, awesome cocktail flavours and wonderful service. Kayla was our server and she really added to our whole experience. Super freindly, helpful and sweet. We will be back because of you Kayla!:) (and those scorpion margaritas mmm)

What a great find! Very courteous staff, great food, at a great price! We sat out on the patio, very nice!

I picked a table outside in the corner, so I could stay with my little dog outside of the restaurant. Unfortunately after I told them that I'd like that table, a young lady took me there, but surprisingly she put a sign on the table: Reserved. I thought she was taking me to my table. We were going to wait for another table on a very sunny side, where she said we could wait for, but the people didn't seem to finish. We were very thirsty and hungry, so we couldn't enjoy the food.

For how much hype this place gets, the food was not good. Basically a big meh. The churros were just disgusting and tasting like feet. Outside was crispy and looking good but inside was still mushy and raw. I'm just disappointed.

Stoped by on Tuesday around 530pm and was not able to get in for 7 people (4 adults & 3 kids) which was disappointing and understandable with no reservation.
Which means that it is a good place to eat. The next day we decided to try again and be smart about it and make a reservation.
We got to the restaurant at the reservation time of 5pm and the hostess asked if we had a reservation which we said yes. She then asked us if we made it at the Langley location. DOH! I did not know they had another location and of course they were full up again.
After some back and forth and we were milling outside on the patio, the hostess (sorry I am bad with names) made some adjustments and was able to squeeze us in on the patio.
Great customer service and food. We started off with the gauc and chips and finished off with the churros.
Thank you very much we definitely stop by again when we are in the area and make sure we have the right location.

This place has a uniquely authentic Mexican flavour. We enjoyed watermelon jalapeno margaritas and had a number of dishes from flautas to burritos to a plant based chicharrón the really impressed us. This place is a must try.

Good Food and environment. Be careful ordering certain vegetarian options as they have been mis-served with chicken the last 2 times we have been there.

Amazing. I've been a customer of Hugo's since he started out with just a little food truck. Now he has three restaurant locations - way to go! The food is fantastic. I just tried the flautas yesterday and oh my goodness, yes. I will be back, many times.

The food was really good. It’s definitely another gem of Chilliwack. I don’t have much bad to say about Hugo’s. You won’t be disappointed with the food. The only thing is that there was no ice and it was a hot day. Eating spicy food with no ice water kind of sucks so I hope they get that fixed. Other than that It was great. I want to give them 5 stars but I can’t. What can I say, I’m a critic lol. I have a standard to uphold when I do reviews. If they fix that I will update later. Definitely go if you’re looking for Mexican food. It’s the best in town.

Great atmosphere and even better food! We started off with the homemade chips and Pico de gallo (salsa), then the Famous Taco Loco. Both were so fresh and delicious! I highly recommend this place!

Authentic fresh made Mexican dishes and salsas that have made me a weekly customer since before Hugo's was even a gas station food bar - when it was just Hugo in a food cart in front of a gas station! I would visit at least once a week, and as this small family run eatery has evolved steadily into a sit down, table service restaurant with licenced beverages, draft taps, expanded patio, and Mercado, I couldn't be happier that not only have they maintained the authentic, family friendly atmosphere, but the staple dishes like street tacos and taco loco, while still made fresh to order, have evolved into absolute masterpieces. In the past 5 years alone, I have probably had, without exageration, at least 300 Taco Loco's and while every day is unique, I have never been unhappy with one. They are really that stellar. Their house made salsas are the clincher though - from the picante jalapeno salsa verde to the smokey Chipotle salsa roja to the sublime and tangy garlic lime cilantro, I can't say enough good things about these salsas! So happy they are available to-go in bulk tubs! Thank you Hugo's! Easily the most flavourful casual fare in the valley.

Good food but over priced for when you get although Chilliwack doesn't have a plethora of options for Mexican food so maybe it's worth it if you're really craving Mexican. Don't order in advance if you'yre picking your order up, they won't make it until you arrive and pay. I arrived half an hour after ordering (it was a 30 min wait) and when i asked for a refund at 4: 52 to pick up food elsewhere they finally came out with my order pointing to the order time of 4: 04 and "30 minute pick up" on the receipt and rudely gave a bunch of attitude about how I should be more patient. To be honest, the service has never been great here even when dining in but unfortunately because the Mexican options are limited in Chilliwack i'll begrudgingly be back.

Awesome service and divergent menu, loved the food and drinks. However the tacos do tend to be lacking in gusto. Not a lot of spice or tang in them, but would definitely eat here again!

Had a burrito, it was good. Not mind-blowing, but definitely solid.could have been a bit more "personality" to it, but also wasn't too juicy or runny. I'd say just above average at 3.5, so I'll give em a 4. Would go again.

It was a rainy day in Vancouver so we decided to meet our friend for a Saturday lunch. He recommended this restaurant for delicious and relatively authentic Mexican food. Overall, our experience was very enjoyable. The food and drinks were both five out of five. The reason for the four star rating was due to the service. The service was friendly, but completely unintuitive. We had to consistently ask for more water, cutlery, drinks, plates to be cleared, etc. If the service was beefed up, this restaurant would be beyond excellent and worth a special journey. Highly recommended! Bravo.

This is one of the better mexican places in Chilliwack. Almost as good as Alicia's flavours but unfortunately the tortilla used for the tacos was alittle gummy

Authentic flavors, made from scratch. The portions looked small, but we were stuffed afterwards. Didn't get to try the churros, because we were too full. One suggestion we made: a free serving of tortilla chips and salsa, just like in US Mexican restaurants.

Who doesn't love a good taco? ! Nacho this guy! I'd love to have a hotdog inspired dish someday! Keep up the grilling experience!
