Huntingdon Manor Hotel

As others have stated, it is not like the pictures. We stayed one nite as the other hotel we were at was fully booked and I figured that one nite here for more money would be ok.boy was I wrong. There are other places near by that are of the same cost that I am sure do not smell like an old dorm room. Our room may have been nice in the early 80s, but was showing its age.they appeared clean tho. The best western or coast hotel would have been a better choice.
I prepaid the room and was charged again on checking in. Even after mentioning this to the staff, they would not listen.funny how a refund was then issued to my card shortly after for my prepayment.

Whoever owns this doesn't care that there's dry rot all over the building. Doesn't care that the bathroom flooring is peeling up. Etc. When you look around it becomes obvious that the owner has spent far less than minimum, on maintenance, for a very long time.

I won't be returning to this hotel.

Breakfast is good. Very noisy the whole night. Service didn’t even say sorry about it and do anything to address this poor experience immediately

Great location but rooms felt dated and in need of renovations. Also needs more coffee cups so staff don't stop guests from bringing cups to room.

This was my first time staying here and I loved the experience. Yes the hotel is a little outdated, but the service was excellent and the staff very friendly. We were checked in really quickly, then a staff member surprised us with a little welcome package, a welcoming note and two huge choco chip cookies. Coffee and pastries were available all day. The rooms were clean and beds comfortable. The breakfast buffet was delicious and plenty. I would come back here

There are mice not small mice running around under the tables where you walk to get food. The rooms are small, the bathroom sink is plugged and the water almost overflowed. There are no breakfast vegetables other than crisp pan-fried potatoes. I would have had fresh tomato slices and whole wheat bread. The meat breakfast is beautiful and well-cooked. The room prices are not what is being advertised, even on the hotel's website. The cook said yes, there are mice running around. The receptionist said it was a cold winter and mice came inside.

Nice and clean rooms. Excellent breakfast choices, and friendly staff. Pay extra for parking. Easily accessible walking distance to downtown area. Good stroll along waterfront.

We stayed with am infant and our experience was really great with the hotel. They accommodated the room to be comfortable for our baby. The breakfast buffet is reallt great with wonderful staff members, especially Laura who always greeted us with a smile. The location is superb. All the touristy locations including downtown, Chinatown, fishermans wharf, Dallas road, beacon hill paek, were all within walking distance. Room and bathroom was clean. Not noisy neighborhood. Overall great experience.

Overall stay was pleasant as a pet friendly hotel. Decent prices $120/night for 2 queen.

Breakfast
Complimentary breakfast is standard. The best thing that they had whipped cream for the waffles. No pancakes. Variety of baked goods, juices, coffee, tea.

Room
Love how you can plug in your laptop to tv via hdmi. Outlets abundant. The one next to the bed has usb within the outlet.

Locations
Good location. Dining room has slight view of the inner harbour. 15 min walk to downtown.

Very comfortable room with a great bed.
Had a minor problem with the room at check in and the front desk went out of their way to make it right. They showed us 2 rooms that they were willing to move us too - but we stayed in the original room as the problem was very minor. Outstanding customer service!

My original post was deleted. This place is clean, staff is friendly, but is old as all hell. It's falling apart. Gutters are hanging off the side of the building, paint in peeling off, the water pressure and temperature is horrendous and the rooms are from the mid 80's.

Edit: I have worked in hotels and restaurants around the world, there is antique and quaint, then there is just old and dilapidated. This is dilapidated, just own up to it needing work.

This was my second time stay at this hotel. Everything is perfect. Rooms quality, room rent, proximity to harbor front, tourist places, parking, morning breakfasts. Staff is very friendly. I mentioned that I am bringing my family for celebrating birth and as a sweet gesture they put a chocolates in the room, they also upgraded our breakfast to pendry’s breakfast which was an amazing experience. You will love this place. I definitely coming for one more time. Thank you for giving us amazing experience.

Very professional services, the receptionist was very friendly, the hotel make a surprise for my daughter for her birthday I'm very grateful for that, thanks so much to all the staff give you 10 of 10!

Went there in Oct2022. Good rooms and service. Breakfast is good however the crowd is more, hence can be better organized. The women at the reception need to tidy up their responses and manners, not customer friendly

Young lady at the front desk was really nice but our room was small, old styling (that means "Vintage" in Victoria) and carpeted along with an ancient bathroom. The next door neighbor's AC unit vibrated our windows at night. I won't book through BC Ferries again, but it's all about location in that town and its hard to beat for that.

Location is very good, walking distance to most tourist spots and the room was big and clean with full kitchen. Bedroom is on the second floor which we didn't expect but think it was really cool

The hotel is a little bit old, but well maintained. There was a funky smell when we first entered the room. The bed was comfortable and a few good channels on TV.

Great staff, great location! Were here for 4 nights. Had a great corner room with kitchenette. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast included and delicious. Easy location for everything - especially Clipper. Highly recommend!

Beautiful building and location, clean rooms and very friendly staff. However, one particular front desk staff member was quite rude to my fiancée on August 12th around 10am. We inquired about a meeting time we had arranged with management and were met with a snarky and sarcastic attutiude that ended with "we are in the middle of checkout, I will let them know after we're done". We understand that everyone handles stress differently, but there were no guests immediately following us, and we as guests ourselves have a right to make necessary inquiries.

Lastly, today while checking out I noticed the same front desk staff member glare at my fiancee, once again for reasons unknown.

Other than this, we had a nice time during our stay and look forward to holding our wedding there.

The staff are extremely kind and professional. Gavin was especially sweet, going the extra mile. Lovely hotel with delicious breakfast.

Great location and a comfortable room. Nothing spectacular about the rooms but the hotel itself is well maintained. It has a secure parking garage and the staff was very helpful and pleasant. After all - it's Canada! As people go, Canadians are generally the best that North America has to offer, in my experience.

Front desk check in clerk who had a long line of check in guests and was alone at the front desk, was very patient and friendly. She even changed our room from the main floor to second floor. The room was super clean, beds were very comfortable, and it was pretty quiet at night. Breakfast was passable: liked the fresh fruit, plain yogurt, coffee, waffles and oats. Very crowded at breakfast though with line ups to sit at a table. Go early. The hotel is in a good location right across from the ferry to Anacortis and Seattle, just 5 minutes from the Parliament Buildings. Parking was easy and you have a choice of outside parking or underneath.

Great location - easy walk to the museum, the harbour, downtown and James Bay village. Dog friendly and very nice staff. Beer and wine store and delicious restaurants very close too.

Coziest hotel I have ever been in. Staff is friendly, rooms are clean and beds are very comfortable! Nice location to downtown Victoria and the waterfront!

My 3rd stay - and my last. First 2 stays were unremarkable, and I liked supporting a smaller business rather than large chain hotels. The last visit was during one of the summers heatwaves - if you want to have the aircon on, then the blind must be up (*no* privacy - who thought that was a good idea?).

But the real capper was silverfish - actually more so the front desk’s response to my letting her know there was a silverfish problem in my room (thinking they might want to address it, foolish me). Her response: “Oh yes we know very well. Thank you. ”

I do not want to bring home “uninvited guests” from hotels - and I don’t appreciate unwarranted attitude from their staff. Never ever again.

I was surprised with the Huntington manor, very nice hotel. My room was nice and clean. It was a short stay but I'll be back to go for afternoon tea.

Stay away from this hotel and the manager REBECCA I was spending my Christmas holidays when a person threatened me on their common property I raised the issue with both front desk and Rebecca and nothing was done. After I mar home I again Inquired and to my surprise Rebecca was blaming it on me (best form of subtle racism). Later they claimed that I didn’t have my mask on and other unicorn stories, they have a water station in the second floor and a lot of other patrons just came and filled up their bottles with no mask (why weren’t they targeted or of the hotel has a stringent mask policy in public area’s why wasn’t anything said to them) I wouldn’t recommend this garbage hotel / property to anyone where they jeopardize your safety and turn a blind eye towards it. On 1st Jan 2022 their alarm went off too ruining everyone’s new year rather then honoring and acknowledging the fact they again brushed it off under the table. The hotel has serious security and maintenance issues and the manager Rebecca has a super unfriendly horrible customer service attitude.

I have booked a room at pendrinton house, but something wrong happened and I couldn't get my room.

I was downgraded to huntingdon manor, where rooms are correct but not as pretty.

I still had my breakfast at the tea room. It was good, but I would love having some buffet options for my breakfast.

A little old but very clean room, convenient location, and friendly and helpful staffs. Stayed for 3 nights but they said due to the Covid they do not offer daily housekeeping which is a bit unpleasant.

Front desk at arrival wasn’t inviting - made us wait 15 mins to check in. Rooms was good, had an extra heater which was helpful. Walls are thin as pipes are old. We were woken up at 6: 30am by yelling in the hallway. Good price during holiday season, breakfast was adequate during Covid, packaged pastries and hot breakfast sandwiches.

All are great but one. Staff are very friendly and helpful especially the frontdesk. The food is good and the room is tidy and comfy. One specific staff ruined the experience for us - the male food server/watcher during the breakfast. He could work on being polite, attending, and understanding. He is working in the hospitality so he should practice it.

Loved the stay there.we were there for 2 nights.pendray tea house is in same compound, if you visit there it will take you to past. Huntingdon manor hotel, is a beautiful place with good facilities. They provide breakfast along with the stay which is a good thing.

Well run hotel in a perfect downtown location. They offer a free fantastic breakfast served in a beautiful room. If you're there for a couple days consider splurging on high tea in their adjacent property.

I didnt quite enjoy the room I was in. Otherwise, breakfast was fantastic and the front desk were really helpful and friendly.

The first night I stayed here, a very loud whirring noise came on intermittently throughout the entire night, leading to a horrible sleep. It was audible even with ear plugs in. Changing rooms the day after was not a problem.

The walls are very thin. I was able to hear the neighbour’s conversation word for word - it wasn’t even muffled. The noise of neighbouring faucets is also very loud.

The rooms were clean and relatively well-maintained. Front desk was efficient. I would have given 2 stars if not for these redeeming factors.

For context, I am a low-maintenance traveler. I have stayed in my fare share of sketchy/cheap hotels in developing countries. While this hotel did meet the criteria for cleanliness, it did not fulfill requirements for providing a restful sleep.

Was walking in the gardens inthe evening was really quiet different but a very worthwhile walk with lots to see

Really great place, nice staff and the room was amazing. One small complaint was the garbage on the deck. I doubt many people go out there.

Nice hotel. We had a family suite and it didn't have enough dishes for us in the kitchen, we didn't have enough towels or pillows either when we checked in. 2 of 3 beds were OK. The last one was very uncomfortable. And pillows were super flat. I would recommend the hotel but not the suite we were in.

Great location, comfortable rooms, and at a reasonable price for Victoria. This isn't a 5 star hotel but if you are looking for a hotel in a great location, you should consider this place. It's a bit rough around the edges, but the rooms are clean, great water pressure and temperature, and the staff was very accommodating.

While the exterior of the hotel is need of some TLC, the staff is very helpful, the rooms are clean and comfortable and the breakfast is great. Combine that with the location on the inner harbor, and you have a nice hotel for a shorter or longer stay in Victoria.

Very nice hotel right near the Inner Harbour of Victoria. Close/walkable to many popular tourist attractions. Friendly, efficient staff. I couldn't eat any of the offerings at their free breakfast as I am gluten and dairy intolerant. All I had to do was ask and they made me a special breakfast free of charge. Well maintained clean environment.

My dad was staying at this hotel and asked the lady at the front desk to print something but said they were busy. He was under a time constraint and we went back after an hour the woman was no longer busy and standing at the front desk. Very condescending and unfriendly she let him know she'd print it sometime in the evening. We went down to the Grand Pacific and they gladly printed the document for us. I guess there about making their guest experiences easy when they travel.

Great location. The exterior of the Manor has a beautiful historical look, but the rooms are much more simple. Will stay again.

Rooms are very clean and nice decor. Kitchenette for those wanting to prep their own meals. Air conditioning was a blessing during the heat wave.

Incredible, so much charm. I just went through some of the reviews. We have only positive feedback. The location is incredible, the staff is beyond attentive. Our room is definitely renovated. The building has so much character. It is not a new building obviously, but is well kept. Having this beautiful building in this location, with this service in Victoria is beyond an honour! Especially for the price. The whole Family loved it. And kids liked it more than a resort in Mexico.

A perfect getaway down the street. Staff is wonderfull. If your scared of COVID they provide no contact laundry service and resturant delivery. Highly recommend.

I stayed at Huntingdon Manor for 6 nights at the end of February 2021. I was alone in Victoria concerning the purchasing of our new home. Though my trip was for practical purposes rather than leisure, I still wanted a comfortable hotel in a location where I could explore downtown Victoria on foot. I booked through BC Ferries Vacations.

What this hotel has going for it:

Location, location, location. Points of interest downtown were easily accessible on foot. I was pleased to have a harbour view. Secure underground parking was included. The Pendray Inn and Teahouse and other adjacent Victorian-Era buildings were very charming. The staff was very friendly.

Why my stay was less than ideal:

Firstly, I’m try to be understanding and want to believe that under “normal” circumstances, my review of this hotel would be better. I understand that these are “covid times” and services everywhere are reduced. I understand that this is historically the tourism “off-season”.

My room was extremely musty and gave the impression it had not been occupied in some time. I kept the windows open and fans blowing the whole week. Although the hotel is rated a 3-star, and perhaps this could be applied to the common areas, I would rate my particular suite a 2.5-star. As far as being “recently renovated”, I find it hard to believe this was done in the last decade. At least I can say it was clean.

I wish I had known prior to booking that the hotel would be undergoing roofing renovations. A scaffolding was being erected and a worksite was right under my window. Every morning before 8am the construction workers were talking loudly and banging around with the metal scaffolding. This made it difficult at certain points during the day when I was trying to focus on work. Fortunately they seemed to take a break on the weekend.

It appeared to me that there were not a lot of other guests staying at the hotel, however, towards the end of my stay this drastically changed. At one point there were meal trays placed outside of nearly every room on my floor but mine. I asked a staff member what was going on. “The Navy, they must eat in their rooms. ” I thought this odd, but was in a rush to head out somewhere. When I returned, the trays were still out. I checked the other floors of the hotel out of curiosity. It was the same scene on every floor. Trays placed outside over nearly every room. The navy had taken over the hotel.

I ran into a different staff member and asked them “Is the military quarantining in the hotel? ” She replied “No, uh, not really. They just have to stay here for a week while they wait for their test results”. That sounded enough like quarantine to me. This made me uncomfortable. Shouldn’t hotel guests have been notified and been given a choice about staying there under these circumstances?

Fortunately I was set to check-out anyway, but it’s the principle of the matter that leaves me bothered.

You can smell old wood flooring and woods, reminds me of my grandparents. Had 3 single beds but it would’ve been better if I had one king:)

Nice hotel. Rooms were clean. Very close to the provincial government buildings. Staff were good in the time of covid.

Great location. Great staff. Pendray Inn and teahouse on the property serves breakfast, to go lunches and afternoon tea. Our room had a kitchenette, balcony and a view of the waterfront.

Quaint older hotel. I needed the pet friendly floor for one night, but I was not informed that it wasn't accessable. There was about 10 stairs to that floor. When I asked for a trolley to get my bags to my room, I was denied saying there was no point because there was the stairs to contend with. I don't feel right disclosing my health issues. I try to be independent, but to not be offered any assistance, I was disheartened. The coffee in the rooms, in the restaurant etc is terrible. Bring your own or go to the convenience store. The breakfast provided is also mediocre. You'd be happier going to Cora's or even McDonald's. At least the food there is cooked more frequently and doesn't sit so long.
I stayed there because I was helping my daughter and I needed a place to stay with her pet for a night. I'll stay at Parkside again next time. They are way more helpful there.

What a great place. My go to place in Victoria. Very friendly and helpful staff. Located close to the harbor and goverment buildings.

This is a wood framed building (which is suppose is part of the charm) meaning that you can hear a lot of noise from nearby rooms. One of the rooms above me had a very noisy group. When I called the front and asked if they could help (after midnight), they said they had several noise complaints from the third floor. I was told that she would call them and if they were not quiet in 30 min, that she would go to the room and ask them to be quiet and if they were still not quiet, then she would ask them to leave.

The front desk clerk, when I called back, said she could not tell which room to call and at 1: 30-2 am, she suggested that it was easier if she had me pack up my stuff and move to another room.

If I’m paying a premium price for a “charming” hotel, I expect to be able to sleep.

Update: on check out the desk person did good job acknowledging the poor handling of the situation. I’ve amended my rating accordingly.

Beautiful grounds. Even though not everything was fully open due to Covid, it was a beautiful place to enjoy a weekend. Close to everything. Staff were exceptionally helpful at explaining all the new procedures and policies surrounding Covid and common places. More than enough service for our stay.

Had a loft style room. Mattress was excellent. Sure would like to know the make. Breakfast was good. Great location. Can walk everywhere. All in all a good stay.

Clean rooms, and close to the centre of the city. Had a seagull tapping our window for the evening, it was funny but I could see how it could be annoying after awhile. When looking out the window, the shelters and awnings/roof could be cleaned up, a lot of bird pooh/moss, guess that is to be expected when close to water? Don't know. The building is quite old, could use an update on the inside. Customer service at the front desk was good, but I would not recommend eating there for breakfast. Inexperienced staff. They couldn't get a simple order straight and it was a little pricy for what we received. (this did not come with the room). I would give it 3.5 stars for the price and location.

Wow, what a beautiful place to stay and right downtown Victoria, with so many options, carriage rides, whale watching, water taxis, boat rides. And high tea, fabulous food.

This is a well-appointed hotel inside. It is quiet, the staff are very helpful and accommodating. The breakfast was good, and the location is wonderful for viewing the city on foot. Good restaurants nearby.

The updated room was awesome at a fair price, but the AC was broken and the maintenance guy was out of town (small hotel, small town), so we moved to one of the older rooms, which wasn't nearly as nice. Bring your own soap and shampoo because what they provide don't lather and may not really even be soap and shampoo, but maybe just very odd decorations.

This place is amazing! We stayed in a Euro Style loft and it was perfect for us. The kitchen was great and the staff were super helpful! Plus our room had a great harbor view!

Such a lovely place. Love the old home the trims on the windows and doors, they have left the old look of the home, even the trimmed decoration on the ceiling, true to the period of the house. The Tea time was exquisitely delicious. I needed more time to enjoy this lovely place. Love the garden as well.
