Don’t ever take a test here with an Asian guy name Nick. He is very unfriendly and target Asian people (I don’t know he has so much hate to people like him), he would trick you when behind car is honking at you and ask you to pull over to the side of road. Nonsense

Mike is an excellent examiner. He has a very good patient and friendly. He kept smiling throughout the entire exam process, which made me feel very relaxed and happy, and made me feel stress free. Thank you for your kindness.

I love how organized and smooth the process is in ICBC Richmond claim center. I’m not sure if it’s always like that but that’s my experience there. I did not expect that. I thought it’s going to be stressful and chaotic.
Also, I gotta commend MIKE, one of the examiners there, for being completely professional at the same time well-accommodating. That’s the kind of staff people need especially in a stressful situation. He has a very clear and calm way of communication which I think is crucial to that line of job. I had a wonderful experience in this test center. I passed my class 5 road test on first attempt. My instructor was very kind and helpful. I really like her amazing personality. Unfortunately i forget her name. The location itself was very efficient, clean, and filled with kind and helpful staff. Appreciate for the great experience and helping me get my license.

GARY is the best of the best instructor, I have ever met. He was very clear with his instructions and made me feel confident throughout my road test.

I had good experience taking my Class 7 road test here. It is not a busy location (like the one in Number 3) so there is no waiting time. I love that hey are very organized.
I was very nervous for my road test by my DE Ian is calm and has a gentle tone which helped me feel relaxed and comfortable. His instructions were clear/concise. He gave me enough time to perform requested maneuvers. He is very professional, kind and understanding. Just passed my drivers exam with examiner Mike. The nicest guy ever, was very straightforward. I was really nervous since I was taking my class 5 for the first time but after talking to Mike I felt at ease. Will definitely recommend this location! Thanks so much to Mike for passing me and being very clear and concise in your directions and also giving me enough time to manoeuvre my vehicle while doing lane changes, turning etc. Thank you once again Mike!

I do not recommend this test center for Road tests. If you get Gary as your instructor then the failing chances are pretty much higher even if you do it well. Book Langley instead if you really want to pass.

I did not get the examiner’s name. He asked my daughter to back up 5-car lengths, straight and keep her distance but there was a garbage bin close by in the same lane. I think it was garbage collection day in that area of Richmond. As she was backing up, she asked the examiner if she had to continue as she knew she would hit the garbage bin. The examiner did not answer. She could not swerve or change lane to avoid as it won’t be considered backing up straight. Because of this, the side mirror touched (not hit hard) the garbage bin. The examiner failed her. This was her only mistake. Very unfair.

I have just passed my class 7 road test today. I had Gary as my examiner. He is very calm and approachable, and gave very clear instructions. I had a great road test experience with him. Everything went so smoothly. Thanks Gary!

Had my road test today with Gary and passed.the past reviews worried me a bit but Gary was a very fair examiner and just wants you to prove you can read signs and follow the rules of the road.the other staff are all very nice as well, i recommend this location for your road tests.

I bring my driving license from my country and take it to Metrotown Icbc and he told me I am approved to take the knowledge test and I can take the class 5 road test when that time I didn't read the book so he gave me the book and I can come any time when I am ready but I moved to Richmond because I rent the house.and I go to take the knowledge test at Lansdowne ICBC and they told me they are going to send my driving license to Victoria for approval I said ok I was waiting for 3 months and they didn't reply anything finally I go to ICBC to check, and the Ledy tell me I am not approved I ask the reason she said he didn't write anything on the system and they not even give me my license back and she told me I have to start from L I didn't have any choice so I said ok I too my first Exam an ElderBridgeway when the first time I take the exam it was my mistake I understand I failed so the second time which is today! I drove for 8 years in my country without an accident he fields me that when I turn right on the green I was too slow the two Exam information reports were totally different I don't know what to do now I don't know which ICBC I have to go to take the exam this is not fair am really sorry am tired with this!

Well, richmond icbc never had a standard procedure to pass tests it always depends on what instructor thinks, on my first test I was told to stop before I merge into a lane on intersection (my lane merged into a separate lane which did not had on coming traffic) and I was failed cause i just turned into my lane and continue (instructor jason) he failed me with a one reason. Second attempt the other instructor failed cause i made a stop before merging into same situation same intersection. The other icbc instructor (Sphencer) failed me for that i made a stop. No point of talking to supervisor as they never point out there own people. As I was suggested by him take a another test. (As if i did not know i can do it) Its a total racism going on even can be judge by the review only specific community having pass comments and others not. WHAT WELL MAINTAINED PROFESSIONAL WAY TO RAISE FUNDS FOR YOU. Wish your instructors be on the same page. And there should be recordings of the test route so that no one can just putting there own ideas to the test as they do. And no doubt icbc richmond embridge is one of the lowest rated icbc in BC. For a reason.

Examiner told me, "I technically failed", my class 5 road test. Said that, it was because of a rolling stop, there were no other infractions. When I asked which intersection, he did not give me a straight answer.

It's obvious the examiner had no legitimate reason to fail me. Cannot help but feel as if he indiscriminately choose to, simply because he could.

Other then that, the examiner was polite and professional.

ICBC, there needs to be better oversight and accountability. May I suggest dash cameras, that way it's not my word against the examiners.

Gary is a really professional and patient examiner. The instruction he gave to me was clear. This is not my first time to take road test, after I didn’t pass last time, I went back home and focus on the weakness that the examiner point out. That’s really help me a lot! And I passed my class5 road test today!

I had my Class 5 road test at this location a few days ago and passed on my first try. My examiner's name was Nick L.and he provided clear instructions from the very beginning and gave me enough time to execute them. He was firm but fair. I highly recommend that anyone who needs to book a road test to use this location. I wish anyone taking their road test here the very best of luck and always drive safe and be confident in your abilities.

Took my road test today for class 5 with Gary, he was super patient and when finished reminded me about needing to do shoulder checks more often (forget sometimes). Such a professional instructor!

Real bad experience taking my class 5 road test. I was the first person who arrived that day and the last to be considered. As more people say in previous comments, seems they pick who will pass and who won’t from the beginning. I honestly felt that my nationality was a problem somehow… I would not recommend it.

Clear and concise instructions are what needed for a person who is nervous while giving test and that was the case during my test.

Took my road test here twice. I failed the first time but I knew what I did wrong. Yesterday, I felt like it was such a smooth drive because my examiner was very professional, he was relaxed, he wasn’t uptight, and he was very much human. Ravdeep, thank you for giving clear and concise instructions you have helped me feel at ease which made me drive like I usually do. I didn’t give a 5 because he passed me but because the overall experience was pleasant. I hope that everyone who comes here gets you and shares the same positive experience that I had.

Hey, today it was my road test at Elmbridge Richmond. I was very nervous at start, my examiner was Oscar. He was a good guy, easy going and very friendly. When I saw reviews before my exam, most of the reviews which I saw it was all negative, but honestly I never saw that negativity in him. That is the main reason I need to write this review, that people do make mistake and they blame ICBC Instructor after that. Luckily I never made any mistake, my sheet was all blank with few notes on it which is quite understandable. Thanks to Oscar, because of him I cleared my road test. Keep it simple, follow rules, feel him safe, let him have that vibe that you drive and its all ok, you will definitely pass the test. Thanks ICBC and Oscar. Cheers!

My daughter just finished her 2nd test and failed, the instructor gave her 3 secs to turn left at a stop sign, this left the car pointing slightly to the left when stopped at the sign (Failed due to Dangerous Driving?). When l asked how to appeal, was told no appeal, my daughter then mentioned the instructor made personal comments during test (This is why no recording devices are allowed?). WHO.is accountable and responsible for the behaviour of drivers tester's. I was told no one.this needs to change.

I really appreciate the maturity, experience, knowledge and professionalism of the Supervisor Mr Sherman and his team member namely Mr Jason for the fairness and clear directions during the road test held particularly in the bad weather conditions of snowing. I don't recommend this centre at all.

I had instructor called Nick. First of all I didn't understand his english pronunciations.

He kind of tricked me by asking to find spot nearby fire hydrant and in no parking zone, then he tried to find as congested roads as possible just to fail.

After test no proper feedback only said you have have no driving skills at all and left car in hush.after that I felt he is biased towards Indians with this string of events.
I think if i had examiner with whom I can communicate and feel confortable I would have passed.

ICBC please allow to select the examiner if you don't understand pronunciations. Please diversify your staff at all centres.

I would recommend that to void this centre as roads near are narrow and lot of construction activity going on and too much crowd and too your luck if you get examiner like mine.

Maybe I have problems finding ways to use in the correct way the street when I’m driving. But even if I’m still driving making my mistakes is very difficult to find the way to get in to this ICBC office.

Passed my Class 5 road test here. The examiner was nice, and gave a lot of suggestions after the test. 在这儿一次性考过了五级路考。考官很友好，考完后还给了不少驾驶的建议

Hi, had a class 7 second test here today and i failed, which is totally fine cause i know what i did wrong. But the examiner was sooooo rude and upset even before starting my test. He whisper that im stupid while I was driving. Dont recommend anyone to book road tests here.

Tried to do my N test there for the first time and the guy was so rude to me. He showed so much attitude when I was his first driver of the day. I felt extremely disrespected and I am taking my business else where.

This is the worst Claim Center I have ever been to. Their staff are doing nothing, their door is locked, and they put a sign saying to ring the doorbell when necessary. We rang the doorbell but nobody came out. After 15 mins, a guy comes out and complain about we rang the doorbell. Then, he said he was unable to work and help anything, if we have anything need to report or solve any problem, call the number they put it on the door. As a result, I spent two days calling the phone number they provided to me, but I never got through. I don’t understand why people who works there and can’t do anything, Why build an office if customer can do everything over the phone?

My wife failed her road test and obviously had made their decision before they got in the car. They asked her if she had a camera in the car, she said ni. The examiner proceeded to get a second person in the car. She has benn to three drving schools and all said she is excellent driver she is. This place is corrupt and if you complain, will fail you. This time, I will see you in court. Asking for a camera before entering a car is full intent to fail a person. Reponse to JC. Sorry I dont deal with corrupt management or offices that let their examiners lie through their teeth to purposely fail someone for complaining about a past issue. I have hired a lawyer and will be in touch

They are so slow. Need to wait 30 mins to talk to a representative. Though they are polite and resolves the issue, their system is too slow.

I had my class 5 test today! My examiner was Richard, A very nice and polite guy. Clear instructions, Polite way of talking, professionalism at its best!

It started off great. The staff who welcomed me were very pleasant people and I had a smooth experience checking in. This review is not a reflection of the overall location.

Rather, I would like to discuss the unprofessional nature of my examiner, Oscar. Words cannot describe the rage I feel, even hours after my class 7 road test. If possible, I would give less than 1 star.

Oscar is by far the most condescending person I have ever met; it feels as if he was sent by God to test my limits. At the end of my examination, he notes that I didn’t have any major mistakes, but that I failed due to an accumulation of minor ones.

At this point, I accepted it thinking, “Oh well, I’m confused but let’s see why I failed. ” It essentially boiled down to being too slow. But not on the road, I maintained 50 throughout.

He notes that I was too slow when making turns in neighbourhoods. Too slow, pulling out from the curb. In one case, when there were incoming cars from a playground area, I slowed down to 20 because the road was cramped with cars parked.

He has the audacity to say, “Dude 20 is like barely moving you have to do 30. I could’ve got off and ran faster than you were moving”.

Oh I’m sorry for being too careful. The speed limit is 30 on playgrounds but I chose to drive 20 in a tight situation. You’re right, it’s not up to my discretion as the driver. Did I also do too many shoulder checks for you? (yes apparently)

I am not nearly articulate enough to describe everything that happened: the nuances of facial expression, body language, word choice. However, if my words cannot paint a picture in your head, imagine the most snobbish person you know, but put them on steroids.

I’ve never been robbed, but I imagine this entire experience is comparable to being robbed of $35, and then subsequently spat on— all the while being glared down as he marches away.

It is one of the worst place to give your class 5 road test. Instructors are rude from step 1 taking payment and check id’s till end of the test. There was no such reason to fail and just made an excuse to fail me at the end of the test. Strange thing is there were 3 other cars who started their test with me and all of them failed too. This is just a money making place and failing for no reason. The instructor already had in her mind to fail me. I have been driving since 8 years with no ticket whatsoever.
Moreover instructor wrote she took control where as she dint even say anything, not even a single word. Of course cant prove because of no camera or any kind of footage but at least be fair and true.

Had my class 7 road test today and the examiner was relaxed, which in turn allowed me to keep my nerves in check. I felt much more comfortable with him compared to my previous examiners in Burnaby. He was professional and gave clear instructions. As well, he gave useful tips on how I could improve my driving in the future. Overall recommend this location if you're looking to do your road test soon.

Never take road test with this location. VJ the worst examiner with fake accent.just fail people and make money that’s the policy here.

Richard is and awesome examiner. I was a little bit nervous on my driving test but he helped me ease some of it. He wants you to pass the test so he focus more if you doing things right than trying to look for mistakes. If he thinks your road worthy enough, He will pass you because he believe you could improve more through practice once you get your N. Thank you Richard I will practice more to become a good driver

I took the road test here and my examiner was Richard. He was very professional, made sure that I understand all the instructions, and very polite in answering all of my questions. He gives directions ahead of time which gave me more time to think and decide what I should do like shoulder checking during lane changes and turns. He helped me to calm down by starting small conversations which made me feel relaxed and comfortable. After the test, he explained all of his observations, and areas I should take note and be careful of. This made the test not only an evaluation of my driving, but also a learning experience for improvement. I should say that Richard could be the best role model for road test examiners.

Never write a bad review but AC the examiner was disaster, very unprofessional, totally different from my first road test experience. If anyone going to road test in this location hope you won't get him as the examiner. It was really bad experience.

I am an immigrant doctor I had been driving for 17 years and in 17 years i never failed in driving. Today i had a class 5 road test at richmond claim centre.despite of people telling me that dont give test in this claim centre as they fail you and the most of the asian instructors here are biased.especially if you have INDIAN DRIVERS LICENSE i still chose this location
Today i failed my test.
Reason- on yellow light i was behind a car who crossed the pedestrian croasswalk on the road but as soon as light went red i stopped and i was on pedestrian cross walk where there is hardly any pedestrian.and instructor told me i was in the middle of the road.i can challenge you ICBC to check the video footage of the road if i was in the middle of the intersection
Everything was great as per the instructor but he said this was DA.but how it can be DA if i stopped on pedestrian cross walk on red light?
I recommend everyone not to give class 5 road test here until you dont have any options as instructors will fail you.they wont listen you but will tell what they feel.
I am a person who accepts the failure but today was not justifiable.i may lose my job because i recently came to canada and working as health care worker and got this job last week and my job includes driving and chances are i will be fired.

My experience was so bad. I won’t suggest this location for road test to anyone. My instructor failed me without mistakes. I really needed my license. Please don’t fail people if they have skills to drive on roads. My Instructor Was Ac. I thinking you guys are making money by failing people.

I had Richard as my examiner. He was great! He explained thoroughly prior to the test about how the exam was going to happen. He provided instructions ahead of time during the test. He very was soft spoken.

I had a great experience with ICBC Claim centre, I did my test with Oscar and he was great, very professional and explained everything clearly, also giving me lots of useful information after the exam. The Covid precautions taken really insure the safety of the examiner and driver. Thanks again!

Road Test (Class 5) - The centre took great precautions re. Covid procedures. I had Richard as my examiner and he was absolutely amazing. He explained everything pre-exam clearly, gave me time to ask any questions and we both cracked a couple jokes, all helped with easing the nerves. During the exam, Richard gave enough notice with turns, lane changes, etc, so I didn't feel rushed or out of sorts. He also would start small conversations, which helped me feel calm, and also allowed me to decide how long I wanted the chat to carry on. Overall, my experience with the Elmbridge Claim Centre and with Richard was fantastic. And yes, I passed on the first try!

Had my N test yesterday with Richard as my examiner. Very nice guy and very fair examiner! I could tell he wanted to pass me which was good for my nerves and very different from my last test at a different location with a not so nice examiner. It really made all the difference and I was super thankful for that! I made a mistake on one of the slow speed maneuvers and Richard just suggested that we try again which I was very grateful for! We even had a good chat! 10/10 examiner!
