My examiner for class 5 driving test was John and I have to say he was amazing at it. He was so calm and understanding that all the nervousness I had, went away, as soon as he sat next to me. All those reviews which say he yells, etc etc are definitely false and misleading.he is one of the best people i have ever met. I cleared my test here and it wouldn’t have been possible without his guidance! Thankyou so much!

Today I took my class 7 road test at this location. Having failed twice before, I was quite nervous. However, my examiner John did a great job of calming my nerves and reassuring me of my skills. John was very professional and kind to me right off the bat with a positive and calming attitude. During the test John gave me clear instructions and also provided me with detailed constructive feedback at the end of the test in order to help me improve. John was patient with me when I misunderstood some of his instructions which I really appreciated. I noticed that even if you fail, John will encourage you to continue on and he genuinely seeks to help you improve your driving skills. As long as you drive safely and adhere to the rules you will be fine. It is clear John has a passion for helping people improve their skills and he wants you to succceed! I wish most ICBC instructors were like John. I'll be returning to this location to do my class 5 license. All the staff I encountered at this location are kind and warm towards you.

Updating my original review to say emmanuel i hope your pillow is always cold on both sides when you go to sleep you’re an absolute angel of an instructor and made my most recent (and passing!) test such a great experience.

Had my road test here with Emanuel and he was very organized, knowledgeable and made things feel more comfortable. Overall, super good experience and I’m thankful I got paired with Emanuel as his attitude made me feel a lot less anxious about the whole thing.

All the staff I met here were friendly, kind, and encouraging.
I did my road test with John and he was fantastic, and despite my nervousness, he was patient, clear with his directions, and gave great advice afterwards for continued safe driving.
I'm glad I did my class 5 here.:)

Surprisingly a good experience as far as icbc goes. I interacted with 4 different staff members during my visit. They were all kind and very helpful

I passed my Class 5 at this location today. My Examiner was Emanuel. He is brilliant, very knowledgeable, positive and clear while giving instructions. I had many horrible experiences at other ICBC locations if you ask directions they will fail you. But Emanuel made sure that I understood the instructions and directions properly and repeated for me.
I am thankful that people like Emanuel work with ICBC.

I got my class 5 road test today and my instructor was Emanuel. He is a great human very humble who has good understanding about the test takers' situation. He made me calm and feel comfortable before start the test and throughout the test.

It was my fourth attempt taking my N test and taking the test here was the best decision I could have made. Thank you to John for making my road test experience so relaxed and straight forward. He gave me so much confidence and reassurance that he felt comfortable driving with me which just contributed to my success. I highly recommend taking your N test here as long as you practice and get to know the area well. Thank you John!

I did my Class 5 road test here a few weeks ago with John who was absolutely amazing. He kept me calm and collected and provided clear instructions of what was expected of me. After, he gave me some excellent feedback on what I could do to be an even better driver, which I really appreciated. Thanks for a positive experience and for welcoming us to Canada!

: (JOHN: (I can't write 2 reviews from 1 account, so after my great review, write a terrible and truthful one about an instructor named "john": (JOHN is the worst instructor I have ever met in my life. 1 star is too much for him, I would give him minus millions: (I ask you to believe and don’t check the veracity of my words on yourself. We came from Ukraine, I have a driving experience of 20 years, my husband 28 years and not a single violation or accident. Because of john, now I am afraid to drive, I stopped liking to drive, I have a psychological trauma and the name "john" makes me sick (nausea and vomiting). I feel people and understand what kind of person he is for the first 7 seconds, when john just came out to me, 1 second was enough for me to understand everything (my husband later said to me too, "As soon as I saw him, I already understood that neither you nor I would pass the road test. " john is an angry, rude, negative, disgruntled, arrogant, narcissistic aging man. Most importantly, he screams almost all the time, like a squeaky woman. He screams just like that for no reason. After the end of the test, he put a tick next to "skill" and said that your skills prevented you from passing the test, I did not have a single violation. After the test, I cried for 2 days, I was so offended. My husband did not believe me that this man screams like a woman. But when my husband was given the same instructor, he also yelled at my husband all the time. Dear Director of this department, remove John, maybe he will be a good administrator, but not an instructor. He can't work in this job. I can say a lot about John, and only bad things. When this morning, I came to retake the test again, I saw him, I started to get hysterical. I am afraid of this monster. It's hard to call him a human. After the test with John, go inside and file an appeal, saying that you do not agree with his assessment. Hope this helps. I didn't do it because no one told me to. I ask you to run away from John, if they tell you "your instructor is John", turn around and leave, save your nerves. John, you need to be kind. God bless you for this.

Emanuel is the best driving instructor ever!:) This morning I passed the road test and got a class 5 license. My husband passed his exam a month ago too. Emanuel is a person who will calm you down, win you over, he is like Light in the darkness. He is so benevolent, kind, positive, he always meets with a smile, he will answer you for any questions, he will always help with advice. This is a PROFESSIONAL with a BIG letter. I love when people are where they belong. Its' his job. And he helps every person who communicates with him. I arrived from Ukraine 6 months ago and it's so nice that Emanuel learned Ukrainian words and sometimes spoke my native language. Это потрясающе! EMANUELLE is one of the coolest people I have met in Canada. I also give 5 stars to two girls who sit at the reception. They helped me a lot today. In general, if you are going to Maple Ridge for a Road test, then only to Emanuel. Sincerely, Dima and Natalie.

Worst place to give road test with the worst examiner and the manager too…….

I was giving class 7 toad test and I was treated like I am giving Class 5 or 8. The examiner was so pushy and stressful.
My examiner was John and he failed me because he said I have not done all the shoulder checks. But I am 100% sure I didn’t miss any of that and while I asked the examiner to explain tell me the particular place where I didn’t check he was not having answer, was just saying no no you missed but he was not having any answers…

Despite that I was going on street and limit was 50kmph and there was a pedestrian who was walking on that same road so I slowed down my car so that both me and pedestrian could go easily. But John said what is the speed limit here? I told him it’s 50 but due to pedestrian I have to slow down as it is a potential hazard. Examiner was so pushy on me and said no you can go fast…… like how can I go if there is someone walking on road…. Examiner John was out of his mind. While driving he was pushing me to do wrong things on every single step like for instance he told me to do right turn on a red light even though it was not safe for me due to traffic…

ICBC should have sensible and educated examiners at least those who know the rules and how to treat everyone on road.

Also, when I complained about this to the manager he was like no I was not there so I can’t say anything.
So all in all worst experience……

This is a great place for the road test, all the staff is super friendly and spread posotive vibes. I passed my class 5. My examiner was Emanual. He is such a great examiner. He takes time to make you feel calm and confident, gives great feedback at the end. I am glad to opt for this place. 100% recommended!

I did my class 5 road test and my instructor was Emanuel. He is a great human who has good understanding about the test takers' situation. Also, he gave me great feedback after the test and he wished my future too. He is the best instructor that I have ever seen and the best ICBC.

I had this instructor who took me through multiple stop signs. I proceeded to stop before the stop sign then roll forward again slowly into the street and looking both ways to make a safe turn. The instructor failed me that I did a rolling stop at stop sign when I stopped at stop sign. I guess I learnt my lesson to not give a test in Maple Ridge ICBC.

One of the best ICBC centres, been there 3 times and have always had a pleasant experience with the whole staff and general inquiries. I had Emmanuel as my road test examiner he is calm and patient and does not make you feel nervous any time throughout the whole test. He explains everything after the test that could be done better and tells you about your strong points and skills that you demonstrate during the test. Happy to say I passed my road test.
Overall a great place to go if you need to give your road test or anything else you need from ICBC.

I took my road test and I was very cautious with my driving, my instructor failed me because I was going to “slow” even though I kept my speed within 40-45km under 50Km. I don’t understand how being 5-10Km under the speed limit will automatically fail you even though I did everything else perfectly.

I had an amazing experience with Emanuel today, he made me feel relaxed as I was nervous going into my class 5 road test. Very outgoing and friendly! I passed first try and he even gave me some advice on what to work on at the end of my test. I highly recommend this instructor. If you see this thank you again!
