Ichiro Japanese Restaurant

I ordered the katsu & karaage set and both were overcooked. The katsu was especially dry to the point I could see the muscle fibres clearly and it so thin like they hammered it pancake thin. The karaage was okay but lacking any flavor.

The salad I had I immediately noticed there was still soil left on it, meaning it wasn't washed at all before food prep, or done poorly.

For $25 before tax and tips I really felt scammed. Being frequent traveler to Tokyo, I've had far far better food for half the price.

Ordered the premium course for 2. A tad of bit on the pricey end but still fairly priced and filling for two. Favorite dish was the appetizer tray, loved the Tamagoyaki with unagi and also the seared fish

Edit: Prices increased by quite alot and the quality just ain't there anymore. Down from 4 stars to 3 stars

Best Japanese comfort food in Richmond! The service here was also top notch, I love restaurants that have the call bell, the waiters were very attentive to our needs and even offered a bigger table to our party before our food came! Got the Ichiro don and it was filling and delicious, will come again!

Used to be a 5 Stars Japanese restaurant but food quality dropped a lit during pandemic. It's slowly getting back to the pre pandemic food quality. Service wise is ok, probably still short on staff or staff still in training. Four stars for now and I am sure it will climb back up to five stars soon.

My friends said that they used to go to this restaurant frequently because of their delicious japanese cusine. We dropped by this afternoon for lunch. The rice for chirasu don and sushi were cold and hard. The ebi were not fresh and sashimi tasted bad and cold. The waitress explained that the rice was not of room temperature to match the temperature of the raw fish? ! I got stomach upset after I took the sashimi and rice. I got take out of prepared sushi from other restaurant or shop and they were not as cold or hard as the one from Ichiro.

One of the best sushi places in Steveston. It’s been around for a long time now! Only down side is that most days require a reservation, hard to just walk in and get a seat.

I have often seen a line up for this restaurant so I thought the food was good. I went for lunch and decided to try different menu items. It took forever to get the server to take our order and more time for the food to be brought to us. When it came it lacked flavour, even the tempura was bland. The only thing that was worth to have was the dessert. This place is definitely overrated.

One of my favourite restaurants lately. It's a truly authentic Japanese restaurant, from staff to chef and of course the food. We ordered the Saba set and Sukiyaki set. Both are very delicious. The side dishes are very unique, especially the tamago with unagi embedded. It gets pretty busy during the rush hours so reservation is recommended. We can't wait to come back and visit again!

Haven't been here since almost a decade and my sister hasn't tried here yet so we dropped by one dinner. We were lucky enough to get bar seats since it was busy.
There were so many to choose from on the menu but I went with the katsu nabe set and my sis just went with a simple noodles and tempura, and we shared an Atlantic salmon sashimi.
We were told the sashimi was fresh but it was kinda mushy. The katsu nabe set was the worst udon and katsu I've ever had. The katsu was super dry and overcooked-the udon was also overcooked and the soup was super bland; all the toppings also didn't taste like it was with the soup flavour at all, it was really bad. For the sides, the rolls were also really horrible-super dry, bland, crumbling and almost falling apart. The agedashi tofu is cold. The only thing I liked were the wasabi and the pickled veggies.
Same with my sister's order, overcooked noodles, way more bland soup (I don't remember her saying anything about the tempura). We didn't even finish the food bec they were so bad. We had to go to a different place bec my sister was still hungry.
We won't be going back there ever again.

Meals are on the pricier side, but food was tasty. They do focus on the details of the food items and that is a nice touch.

Ichiro is, without a doubt, my #1 sushi restaurant in all of Metro Vancouver. There are literally hundreds of sushi restaurants in the lower mainland to choose from but this one stands out above them all. Everyone says, "Go to Tojo's or Miku for sushi" but I say, "Go to Ichiro". Quality (arguably better) sushi that won't break the bank. I love this place. Consistently fresh, great tasting sushi and excellent service.

On my last visit I got the Wanko and Sashimi Box set and a random set of rolls for the wife and kid, sushi and sashimi was fresh and tasty as always, and the cold noodles from the Wanko Box was straight up delicious. It's not just the food I love about this place, its the authenticity, the service and the overall experience. You just feel the Japanese hospitality and attention to detail in every single part of the restaurant (especially the sushi). That's what sets it apart for me. Plus, it's located in the beautiful Steveston Village, a scenic fishing village in Richmond.

For locals and visitors, I always, always recommend Ichiro. Go here for quality sushi. Highly recommended.

Touchless entry inside restaurant. Superb seating arrangements. The service was top notch and the call buttons at every table are a nice touch. The prices are reasonable and the food is fantastic! I will definitely be dining there again very soon!

Best in Steveston probably Richmond as I dont check out sushi places I dont know. Japanese trained sushi chefs & wide variety of fish etc U R not going to find else where. More expensive bcuz they use hi quality products. Been going there since it opened about 14 yrs ago

Food was good. The service was just okay and they have locked doors where you have to be buzzed in. Not the most welcoming.

Went to Ichiro's the other night and they were fully booked so we couldn't get seats which is understandable. Tried calling their number the next day to book a table for dinner and it just says the number is unavailable (this is before 2pm so they should still be open). They don't take reservations online, only take-out. Booking with them is a nightmare and walking in there's no guarantee you will get a table.

The sushi and sashimi are always good. But I order a udon tongkasu. The crisply pork chops was place on top of the soap broth. Go guess. Always service a nice crispy things on the side
