Staff must be underpaid or angry because they don't make eye contact or even speak. Cashier just glared at me and shoved my food without even a word or look.

The prices here are fairly astronomical, but it wins for me because its really close to where I live so it serves to fill in the gaps for the things I need, but I can't imagine doing my full grocery shopping here. The deli and bakery are excellent though.

However, the real reason to shop here is the amazing staff. They are always helpful, friendly, and engaging, especially the check out staff. It has a real neighbourhood feel and for that I will always enjoy coming here.

I frequent this IGA regularly. It is a small grocery store, but the quality of good is high, especially produce. You may find cheaper prices elsewhere, but I've found the quality here to be consistent and you'll know what you're getting. Organic produce is available here. Staff are friendly. Free underground parking.

Impressive selection of meats and cheeses for charcuterie. Good selection of interesting and local products.

Good selection, nice staff, not the most variety and some baked goods stale. But great store and would recommend.

One of those I could have given ZERO STARS if I could

It was late and I knew it, I arrived 7: 50pm. There was still 10 minutes for closure on a Sunday (February, 10th 2022). I was missing a bag of beans for my dinner.
It wasn’t gonna take long. Just as I arrived an Indian man with not too short hair style came to em and said they are “closing at 8pm”. Not surprised I said “I know it won’t be long”

Two minutes after (7: 53) the same young man came to me asking if I didn’t hear him, being verbally stressing aggressive and asked me if I need help to find my way out. As they didn’t have the product I wanted I told him I was just going to get a bar of chocolate and he kept following me.
I felt treated as a thief, unwelcome to a shop.
Never get so disrespected in grocery

Whoever he is his way of approaching a client to ask if I didn’t hear when I had obviously heard and told him so at the first time he communicated with me.
After following me and asking
If I need help finding my way out with an authoritarian tone of voice and following me. Standing by my shoulder, less than 2 meters away and waiting and rushing my choice of chocolate.

Very impolite you man who should be working in a great grocery chain as IGA. Definitely doesn’t now how to behave. I live two blocks away and came in my home clothes. Maybe he thought that he could judge me by my way of dressing to walk to blocks from my house in kitsilano.
Anyways. DISAPPOINTED at this IGA.

I’ve tried coming to talk to a manager today (Tuesday) but no one came to see me and after 15 minutes I left. I would rather have solved this problem directly with IGA but it wasn’t possible. Unfortunately

He probably just wanted ti leave work ASAP. Grocery closes at 8pm not 7: 50

This is my local grocery store and I like it for quick trips for necessities, but less so for the big weekend run as it's a little pricey. That being said something has happened lately (Covid?) that has resulted in ridiculously long checkout likes that wrap around the store.

The checkout line is one line for every cashier. Most the time I go these days I am around 20th in line and literally have to wait 15-20 minutes to checkout. I'm not sure if they are short staffed or what but their checkout system during Covid is horrific. If it carries on I'll have to go elsewhere as you spend more time lining up than it would take to walk to the next closest grocery store.

I've not seen other grocery stores with lines like this even with Covid.

This is my go-to IGA! I love the free parking, it's so helpful and I've never been unable to find a good spot and it's well-lit and it feels safe. And it's just so handy with the London Drugs being there too so anything that I can't find at the IGA, I can usually find at the London Drugs, which saves me several trips. The IGA staff are always friendly and helpful and I find that they have plenty of sales items that keep me coming back, as well as lovely fresh produce. The star as well laid out and it's not difficult to find what I'm looking for. As well as it is very clean.

Expensive but okay - manager seems a bit at his wits end and a little design makeover to make store more efficient. Large lines

A good grocer, excellent selection which they have managed to maintain over these last few months where so many other grocers have had bare shelves. The price aren't what they used to be but that's not a reflection on them as I believe it's out of their control.

My wife and I like shopping at IGA. The store has everything we need. It is a little more pricey than the big stores like Safeway but it has a little bit more quality. And IGA carries more items we like. I always enjoy shopping here.

This particular location is right next door to London Drugs. There's abundant underground parking and it's complimentary.
The IGA is clean and the staff are always ready to help, always quick to say Hello and to smile. COVID safety precautions are in place and followed closely. Every cart and basket get sanitized after use and there's always full sanitizer dispensers and containers of wipes strategically placed around the store, so if you want to grab a wipe or a squirt of sanitizer you can. There's a bakery, a deli and a decent meat and fish counter. Deli staff are always busy working away at something but right there if you want something too. The prices are average for Vancouver and produce is very good quality. It's evident that this is a well run, well tended shop that has a genuine interest in the community and the neighborhood. You don't see that around very much anymore. It's always refreshing to visit this hidden gem.

Asked 5 employees about the price of bathroom tissues and none of them had an answer, just another way to rip off the customers after waiting in line to see the cashiers.

Staff member a used me of trying to commit some sort of credit card fraud because she forgot to ask me to sign my receipt, dragged me back in the store an demanded to see my ID as if they are some kind of authority.

This is a well-run, well-stocked IGA store. More gluten-free options than most stores, big produce department, 4 big frozen food sections, lots of friendly staff around to help, and since Sept 31, customers are required to wear face masks, which makes me very comfortable shopping there. There are always sanitized carts and hand baskets available too. Big thumbs up.
02 October 2020 23:18
Store is very organized all the staff are wearing masks the lineup for the tills are sectioned off there is no chaos one of the first stores I've actually felt comfortable in in a long time definitely five stars

My 'home' grocery store. They have it all and good produce too. Would caution on the meat department and their expiry dates. Dig around to get the freshest meat.
26 August 2020 5:49
Milk is a ripoff here. This is the only store in Vancouver that charges more than $6 for 4 litres of milk. The people living around here don't care about being price gouged. Everything else is expensive too. The cost to buy all ingredients to make one meal often cost over $20.

I like IGA, especially their meat and seafood products.
However, I am extremely disappointed at the way they are conducting their recent physical distancing protocols.
I parked in the underground parking, as usual, hoping to walk in with a shopping cart, which I rely on since I am disabled. The entrance was locked, only open to exit from inside store.
I had to take elevator to LD, since I am NOT able to climb stairs. Then waited 10 mins on street entrance, in line up, to be allowed into the store. By that time, my knees were killing me, so I hardly got any groceries done, before leaving to get into my car's refuge.
Bad, bad.remember that not all your customers are marathon walkers!
Safeway, Loblaws, Save-on, all have elevator access from parking to entrance of store.

This is not an actual IGA - it is a franchise owned by Sobeys - a huge conglomerate with over 1,500 stores in Canada. The service and the quality of this store reflect a very corporate attitude. You buy what THEY tell you to buy, and you pay what THEY tell you to buy. Nobody thinks for themselves in this store, they just enforce corporate policy to the letter, no exceptions. Their policy is whatever is good for the store, not the customer. They're like teamsters in there.

If you want to go to a REAL IGA, with no revolving-door management and rude staff, go to the REAL IGA at 3515 W 4th Ave at Collingwood. The people here are MUCH more friendly and can actually think on their feet.

Fresh vegetables and the place is clean, so I like to do my groceries here. There are usually good deals available on some of the items as well. Fruits are also good. It's a big store and they have most of the popular brands for canned goods and other items. Beware of the 200g dates at 2$, both times I purchased, they had worms inside. I think this is old stock. They have an option of replacing the product if it's not fresh, but I am yet to take the dates back.

Staff are nice and selection is decent. They offer a 10% student discount when you pay over $25 so that really helps
21 May 2020 10:01
Don't bother with this store not worth the headache. Was told "I don't know" twice in the same department. Security manning the door was playing games on his phone. Was told "yo! Theres a line" before plugging his ear buds back in and him complaining about dying.

My friend and I decided to shop at the West Broadway location and have our groceries delivered as we both live in the same apartment building.
The cashier was not efficient in understanding that we would pay separately but have the delivery at the same address. She seemed flustered and forgot to charge the delivery fee and I had to come back in line to pay it. The gentleman who put the bags in a tote for delivery was just as incompetent and didn't seem to know if I would get my groceries today or tomorrow.
I won't be back in a hurry!

The servers at the deli was were excellent as usual and the checkout clerk on the no. 1 lane kept me laughing.thanks for all of the help
09 March 2020 17:51
Good location with free underground parking. Good meat selection too. Everything else is overpriced, but lately there have been decent deals (not often). Employees could be better at customer service though.
11 February 2020 2:30
It is completely irresponsible for an establishment such as IGA to block customers from entering the store 5 minutes before closing, probabely because some staff want to cut their shift short.
02 January 2020 9:43
I am happy that IGA has gluten free products and other alternative items. Organics. For such a small market it has a good variety.
